Same as a lot of other people here, a charge of $104 showed up on my credit card without being authorized.
Two possibilities, I had downloaded a trial version last year in the spring, but cancelled it because I didn't like it, the other instance was an update for Adobe that carried a trial version of McAfee, I declined the add-on but it installed anyway.
I removed the software and 2 days later...credit charge.

Called Mcaffe chat support, of course connected to India. Explained that a piece of software for a Phillips MP3 player was being recognized as a trojan and Mcafee kept shutting down the system. Of course first response was that they could connect me with their virus removal team for only $ 89.95. Total scam will swith virus protection and never ever use Mcafee again

Subscription wasn't up for a month and without warning, I get an e-mail saying it was automatically renewed for a year. For my protection my butt. I have called the bank and they are contesting it. Just another sneeky way to get money as I am glad I checked my e-mail. The product isn't that bad but for this unauthorized billing that already went through the bank I am switching.

They "automatically renewed" my virus software for a computer that I haven't owned for a year. Called them and they took it off.

The reason you can't down load is most likely due to a virus that prevents you from down loading anything. You'll need to order it on a disc to download or maybe you can reset your computer to earlier date then down load McAfee.
Cheers

This happened to me too. McAfee agreed to make a refund after some time but unsurprisingly there was a shortfall that they accredited to exchange rate fluctuations and tried to pin the blame on the credit card company and are now refusing to make up the shortfall. This is standard practice from McAfee.
