Well Today as we make a trip out to gather up some final Wedding items I have decided it is time that we tell THE STORY... THIS WILL TAKE A MINUTE TO READ BUT I PROMISE IT WILL BE WORTH IT, now this will probably not be like anything U have heard of before, that has actually happened to someone you know. It's like something you would hear about on TV or in a Movie... to set the stage we will back up to December 2013, My Fiancee’ and his best friend took a trip to Knoxville Center Mall to do a lil Christmas shopping... little did I know but he had decided to buy me an Engagement ring, so they went to MARKS AND MORGAN, because our friend knew some people there. My Fiancee’ found what he thought was "the ring", but this was a big decision and a big purchase so they decided to go to some other jewelry stores in the mall... After looking around for a while their journey led them right back to MARKS AND MORGAN... And back to the same ring, so THE MANAGER tells him that if he will just go ahead and purchase my wedding band that day as well, that he will cut him a deal and that he had the "perfect one" that matches the sides of my engagement ring that he had picked out, so he goes and gets this "perfect band" to show them and after some persuasion, he decides to go ahead and buy both the engagement ring and my band... So after tags are removed and rings are boxed and bagged the guys are on their way out of MARKS AND MORGAN ... Straight home to the safe with the rings and then forward to December 24th, Christmas Eve, which was the Proposal, of course after he asked he went and got my band to proudly show me that he had gotten it all that day, then back to the safe til time to size it... Now here's where the story will begin to get interesting to say the least... Both my rings were too big but I wanted to lose some weight for the Wedding, before we had them sized, so we went to MARKS AND MORGAN and had a sizer put on my engagement ring... Now we come to "THE STORY", Two Sunday's ago, on November 9th I tell him that we should go ahead and take my rings to be sized bc it's gonna take a couple weeks and the Wedding was getting close, so after Church we go to MARKS AND MORGAN to drop them off... Our friends and Grandbaby were with us and although I dreaded parting with my engagement ring for two weeks, we sat down to give them our rings and info... she asks for my ring and I take it off and give it to the girl and she writes it up, measures my finger and then it's time for THE WEDDING BAND, I take it out of the bag and hand the box to her... The girl takes my band out of the box and begins to look at it rather oddly, she then looks at us and says, This ring can't be sized, and so at this moment we are a little confused and think maybe he has purchased one like I got him that had to be ordered in the exact size U need, so we r thinking we r just going to have to do an exchange but it gets so much worse than that... The girl further proceeds to tell us that it is Stainless Steel and the assistant manager walks over and picks up our paperwork and takes the band over to a machine to test the diamonds and as they all stand there looking at each other strangely, she says, This ring did not come from here, we don't sell FAKE JEWELRY! So we are all probably looking very confused at this point, as my fiancee’ says to the not so nice Assistant Manager, That is a 14 k white gold ring that I bought that day with her engagement ring, right out of the case beside it, right here in your store... She takes the ring and paperwork and tells him basically that he is a liar and that the ring was not from their store ... By this time we are all pretty consumed with confusion and frustration and he tells her she needs to get someone on the phone and get this sorted out, she steps away and makes some calls and tells us the Manager that sold him the ring is no longer even in a Knoxville store and that she can't do anything more to help us and that we will have to call Customer Service on Monday, so not knowing what else to do we step outside the store and talk, in the meantime the assistant manager calls the Mall Cops to come down, I'm assuming this is because I must have looked extremely dangerous in my church dress holding a sleeping 4 month old baby... So after some time the Mall Cop comes out and asks us to step away from the store front and we try telling him we are trying to decide what to do and he says just step away from this store to discuss it, so by this time some friends of ours had walked up and found out what was going on and he asked them to walk away as well, so we all walk away and go to our vehicles, and then receive a call that our friends were escorted to their car and made to leave the whole mall, because they were with us... By this time we all are upset, frustrated, feeling cheated and helpless as to what to do. So we come home and call cust service and are told someone will call us back in 48 hours, so we wait... they do call in two days and say there is nothing they can do! So we leave a message for the main District Manager of STERLING, who owns MARKS AND MORGAN, and several other jewelry stores, by the next day we receive a call from him and are again told there is nothing that can be done for us, bc he left the store with the ring, which is what u would normally do when you purchase a ring...So we have spoken with a Police officer, and Don Dare and two weeks later we are still no better off than we were. We are 3 weeks away from our Wedding and still no resolution and we are stuck with a $1049.00 FAKE WEDDING BAND! So he will be going to buy me, yet another band, from somewhere else, since we can't seem to get anything done from MARKS AND MORGAN ... Moral of this story. BEWARE THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON AND ANYTIME! Just bc U r in a reputable store with their Managers present and the items come out of their locked up cases which only their employees have keys to, DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING! Check your purchase carefully so this does not happen to you! There is always a desperate, dishonest person who can actually get by with something like this, and always a hard working, honest person, who will be stuck with whatever happens and helpless to do anything about it without a lot of time and money BEWARE OF MARKS AND MORGAN!
