Back in December my husband and I bought a sectional from Leons and got the magiseal applied to our couches. Well when we bought the furniture we were told that the magiseal place would remove stains from our furniture and if they couldn't remove them they would replace the fabric, well i called about some stains on my couches and magiseal refuses to come and clean our couches as they say that we were to report the stains within 14 days of occurring, which i wasn't told and also i never received a service agreement from leons on the magiseal, so now i am stuck with couches that have stains on them and now have to pay from my own packet to have the stains removed. I DON"T recommend getting the magiseal on furniture purchased from leons, it's a waste of money and the leons associates won't tell you anything about the magiseal product.

Agree zucora is a scam, doesn't matter what you call them about they won't honor the warranty. Everybody should be quite suspicious of extended warranties in general but this one in particular is a masterpiece of a scam.

I Bought MagiSeal and have a stain on it. They did try to send someone out and clean it after they were unable to get the stain out and now it is time to replace the item because they were unable to get the stain lifted. Now they are only offering me the refund of what i paid there excuse if mattress giant is out of business even though they were bought out by mattress firm, even if this was the case then by LAW they should have to refund everyone at the time of the closing of mattress giant but instead they want to keep the money from people that dont call and thats mostly everyone, and the people that have a legit complaint they just refund your (if you call and you complain enough) $99 dollars, sounds kinda illegal to me... MagiSeal = Scam keep money as long as no one complains when they do o no tell them a lie and refund them DONT actually replace item...
Maybb thats why they are based out of the USA for Legality purposes.

Just purchased all new furniture for my home and had the magiseal done. I was told and shown how the water is supposed to bead off and "pool" together so one can just blot it off. My couch just absorbed the spill (thankfully just water). Has anyone else encountered this? I'm not sure how it is "protecting" the couches if it liquid just sinks it ..

Leon has a bad after sale customer service. They never return my calls back! I always have to run after them! And their leather couch are bad quality!
NEVER BUY ZUCORA WARRANTY! It's a loss of money! They make sure that the the defect goes under 'normal use defect' so they don't take care of repairing it! NEVER BUY THEIR WARRANTY. They are not even able to define their 'normal use defect'. All they know what to say is : if it's not an accident it classified 'normal use defect' which is ridiculous and make no sense.
Worst service ever!

NEVER BE CONNED INTO FURNITURE PROTECTION FROM LEONS!

You know what I HAAAAATE!? Every time I go to Leons, they force you into buying a $90+ furniture protection spray (they do themselves OR SO THEY SAY) and when my delivery arrives it STILL SOAKS IN THE SPILL! ALWAYS! no matter how much they promise! I'm SO FRIGGEN MAAAAAAADDDDD!..

They always claim its better than scotch guard. One time (since I never learn or am easily conned) I bought a couch that had been protected - so I was told - and a year later I get a knock on my door from leons and its two guys with scotch guard in their hands spraying it AFTER A YEAR! I specifically rememeber saying "i could have bought scotchguard myself at work for like $5 instead of $90 after a year of waiting!" MY GOD! THEY SPRAYED OVER THE STAINS!

Does this picture look protected to YOU? No.. it soaks in right away. oh lord.. I need... I need an advil...

Zucora / Magi seal or whatsoever it's called is absolutely an outstanding bad service ! Can't be worse ! It's a REAL SCAM ! Never to buy such a plan ... It worth NOTHING ! As per their team ... cracks, peeling, scratches, pencil and markers stains, food stains, natural damages as well as accidental damages are not covered ! Can anyone explain to me what is this fake protection plan is covering ! This is in addition to the unprofessional and un- mannered way of communication from Seniors and juniors ! They know NOTHING about business or customer service. It's all about SCAMMING people.

Zucora/MagiSeal is Leon's longest running partner. Zucora has been in business since 1979 & partnered with Leon's since 1982. Leon's considers Zucora to be the most integral partner they work with. I know this cause I've worked for both.

There's a lot of fake leather on the market that people are just too stupid to figure out is fake. In fact, only 10% of furniture sales these days, is real authentic leather. Want to know if leather is real? Look at the sides & back of the sofa. If it's 1 piece - it's fake. Shiny leather also means fake leather. If the salesman calls it anything other than 100% leather - then it's fake.

For leather, accidental damage, stains & marks are covered. For fabric, just stains & marks. Animal damage is never covered. Peeling or cracking as a result of moisture loss is never covered. Peeling means you have fake leather or you put a liquid other than water on it.

They use the 14-day model because there is an obscene amount of people out there that try to get furniture for free by intentionally damaging it. That's why the leather kits in Leon's are empty, because people steal them. Even when they're empty.

You can't please everyone. And what makes this all so funny is you all likely have purchased a Zucora product since posting here and you just don't know it. They have 100s of products under different names.

I do agree that purchasimg the magiseal is a total waste of your money. I called them to have my sectional cleaned and the lady i spoke with today april 24, 2015 tells me i have to have stains which recenly accured to use the service. When i bought the funiture from leons the sales associate briefly explains that you can call magiseal at anytime and they will come out and clean my sectionals. The person i spoke with at magiseal keep appologizing and telling me that i should have read the pamplet given to me, i told her there was no pamplet given. She offer no resolution to the problem. Instead she told me that i can consult a cleaning service to come in and clean the sectionals. So i said i already paid magiseal for that and now your telling me i should pay another external company to come abd clean the sectionals? The bottom line is DO NOT PURCHASE THE MAGISEAL IT A WASTE OF MONEY. Your best bet is to either hire an external company or rent the cleaning machine and do it your self. This magiseal is a rip off! When buying funiture from Leons please make sure they give you a pamplet explaing how this magiseal work before purchasing that way you can make your own decision to get it or not

Nov 07, 2014 9:37 am EST

I bought furniture from Colder's about six years ago. It is a seven piece sectional. The salesman talked me into getting the extended warranty through Zucora because it covered EVERYTHING! The only exception he told me was that say my cat clawed up the arm, I got it repaired and it did it again, they would not cover the same issue in the same spot. About a year ago now, my dog put two rips on two different pieces of the sectional, so I called to have the cushion and the back of the loveseat repaired. They made me go through the hoops of taking pictures and providing a long description. Zucora finally called and said my claim was approved and that Colder's would contact me to order the new pieces. New pieces! Just for two rips? It hit me that it would probably be a different color as my furniture was already five years old, so I inquired about this and the rep told me that was likely and it was not her problem. Okay, fine, stupid to replace everything, but fine. I spoke with Colder's and placed the order. They called in June and left me a voicemail stating it was ready for pickup at a store two hours from my house. I called back and asked if they could move it to a closer location. They said they would check and call me back. The girl called back and said they couldn't find my furniture but they would keep checking and get back to me. I called again because SURPRISE! she never got back to me. They said yes, it was ready and they could move it to a closer location but were not sure when. They would call back though. Yeah right. I did get a call about three weeks later stating that the furniture had not even been started yet and it would take 6-8 weeks. It is now November and I have not heard anything, so I called Zucora. They said that the claim was originally granted in April and I only had 30 days to accept it with Colders. First of all, 30 days is news to me, second, I DID! That was three days ago. Someone called me yesterday to inform me that because I did not follow through on the claim, and because Colders seems to have no record of ever talking to me, the claim is no good and I am no longer eligible for any future claims. They would, however, refund my $290 for the protection plan. So I demanded to speak to a supervisor. She called today. She told me the same crap and I told her I want to hear my own voice conversation informing me of my 30 days and that her company is a scam. Why is it my fault that Colders dropped the ball? She told me that I am not her customer and they do not work with Colders. When I questioned why I even needed all new pieces, she said that my couch fabric was discontinued so they would have to be different fabric--in the middle of my sectional! Awesome! Not that I am getting that anyway. I told her I don't want a refund, I want my new couch pieces. I will also be contacting Colders today, WHEN THEY FINALLY OPEN. So frustrating. I have spent over two hours on the phone with these people THIS WEEK ALONE. Don't buy the protection plan! It's not worth it!

I want to ask you Happycamp how can you be so happy with the Zucora/Magi Seal since they don't want to fix my leather furniture either that I have purchased at Leons and there is still 2 more years left from so called 5 year platinum plan. That protection plan is a garbage. Read other reviews and you will see.

Well I see from the last 2 posts after mine that Zucora hasnt learned anything from all these unhappy leon's customers. I also had to actually get angry with the woman from Zucora and told her I was calling Leons and i would also make sure via social network that everyone knew the scam they were doing. I did call Leons and told them of this complaint website and maybe they should take a look at what Zucora is doing to their reputation. Obviously this didnt work.

Zucora is a huge SCAM! they might as well just be a bank and just take people's money! I too bought the warranty merely for the fact that it covered pen marks on leather upholstery. I have young kids. Well surely enough i got pen marks on the sofa. When i called they wanted to know the exact location of the mark, the size etc.. Which was strange to me but i gave as much detail as i could. They sent a tech a few days later who showed up just to take pictures of the pen marks. 2 days later got a call saying they weren't going to do anything about it due to the fact they believed the marks were done intentionally, and even suggested a place that i could go and have them remove it for me. Why would I buy warranty from a company only to be told by them to go to another place and PAY out of my own pocket? After a lot of frustration and arguing I demanded my money back, if they weren't going to honour their warranty there is no way I'd let them keep my money! They refused to give me a refund saying that all sales are final! I was not told that this was a binding deal, nor did I sign anything saying so. I finally wrote a letter to the company and told them of my ordeal, and surprisingly someone called me a week later to tell me that they would in fact be giving me a refund! That was on Dec 23rd... today is Feb 4th and no cheque yet. I called them today and was told that accounting had some IT issues and wasn't able to issue my refund. Sureeeeeeeeeeeee is what I said! There is no way they could have had an IT problem for this long.. I know this because I work in IT.. How was everyone at Zucora able to get paid themselves if that were the case? Save your money and if you get a stain, tear etc.. Just foot the bill yourselves. Less stress at the end of the day! And guess what i was able to get all of the pen marks out of my couch myself! Thanks for NOTHING Zucora!

Update re: zucora extended warranty through Leon's. After being told by Zucora that they were not going to honor their warranty, I called Leon's and spoke to a wonderful woman named Evelyn. She was very helpful and concerned. Shortly thereafter Zucora called me back and arranged for a very nice gentleman named Jim to come and redye my leather couch where the color had come off and the leather had stretch marks. He did a wonderful job and I am very appreciative. Kudos to Zucora for honoring their warranty and Special Thanks to Evelyn from Leons for making this possible.

I too am so disgusted with the response I have gotten from Zucora re: my leather couch. I too purchased the 5 year extended warranty. It is a waste of money because they do not honor it. We have a large area where it the leather has peeled off and cracked along the seams. Called Zucora had to send them pictures. Same as everybody else they called back and said it was normal wear and they do not cover that they could do nothing for me. I wish Leon's would have told me that normal wear or sitting on it that the leather would crack and peel off after a couple years, I'm sure I would not have bought it. Do not waste your money on buying a warranty ...IT IS NOTHING BUT A MONEY GRAB AND A SO CALLED LEAGE SCAM between Zucora and Leon’s

I too am so disgusted with the response I have gotten from Zucora re: my leather couch. I too purchased the 5 year extended warrenty . It is a waste of money because they do not honor it. We have a large area where it was soiled with hair oils etc. After using magi-seal product, it has removed the color from the furniture. Called Zucora, guy came down and took pictures and did a special test the woman said. Ya, special alright...he sprayed a bit on a rag and wiped spots where there was no soiling. Of course I knew right away they would not honor their product. Sure enough 5 days later I had to email them to find out what they were going to do. Absolutely nothing...it doesnt cover that or the stretch marks in my leather either. Do not waste your money buying this warrenty...IT IS A SCAM...

My experiences with Zucora have been examples of customer service at its finest. I bought a very expensive sofa, love seat and chair and purchased the Zucora service plan. The furniture was white upholstery and I loved it. Two months after delivery we had a family with three small children over and the two year old had a candy cane in one hand and a chocolate bar in the other and before I could stop him he had crawled up on my new, white sofa. I was physically ill. The next day I remembered signing up for Zucora and after locating my contract called them. They were so kind and patient listening to my horror story and immediately booked a service call for 3 days late. The service man showed up at the appointed time and removed the stains within 20 minutes. He reminded me that the plan was good for five years and to not hesitate to call if I should have another incident.. This past weekend I had another youngster and another accident, this time with cola. I called this morning and they are booking a service call once again---all very pleasant. They actually called this spring just to check and see if we needed any service. I am beyond impressed with this company and would not hesitate to recommend them and would not buy upholstered furniture without purchasing the Zucora service plan.

Like others I purchased a leather recliner from Leon's and was told that the leather protection would cover everything, even if I took a pair of scissors and cut up the sofa it would be covered. A couple months ago I noticed there was a tear but was busy at the time. When I got around to contacting Zucora the agent put me on hold stating that she was going to review my service agreement knowing that the incident happened over 14 days ago. She came back and then asked that I send them photos so I did. They then emailed me stating that they were looking at options and they wanted to know if the seat was removable or attached, so I let them know it was attached. They called me the next day and said because it was over 14 days ago they will not be able to service the tear and that in the future I should report it within 14 days. This is clearly a loophole for them to deny responsibility and to take advantage of customer's who are unaware. Like other's I was never provided a service agreement by Leon's and when I asked for some type of document or confirmation they said don't worry I just need my receipt. This is a scam that consumers cannot do anything about, they take your money and do not provide you with service. I WOULD NEVER SHOP AT LEON'S OR DO BUSINESS WITH ZUCORA, it is a shame that this is how they portray being a Canadian company. They need to get training from Nordstrom or Apple.

Every single comment I have read is all the same crap, all of you failed to read your service plan, is everyone really that ignorant that you believed the salesman? Everything u purchase specially insurance, service plan etc is going to have writing. Leon's or any other furniture store is not obligated to provide you with writing unless you ask, legally it's your responsibility as a cx to read the service plan. Everything in the service plan is entailed in detail, it states what stains are covered and are not, and cracking and peeling states only cus to moisture loss your $1000 couch is fake leather, what 100% leather furniture would be $1000 absolutely none. If ppl weren't so ignorant an lazy maybe then you would understand your service plan, I mean it is written in English .

I too bought a leather couch from Leons and Mistakenly got the so called "Warranty" I noticed some marks on the seat cushion so called Magic Seal to come and fix it under the warranty, After waiting over a week before anyone got back to me I was told it was Die Transfer that was an exclusion. Based on her response if you sit on the cushion anything can transfer to the seat and they will not cover it so has to be re-dyed . This warranty is totally crap and a complete waste of money, a couch that you have to cover up to used or it will mark from almost anything is complete bull. DO NOT GET THIS COVERAGE AS THEY PUT EVERYTHING UNDER "EXCLUSIONS" AND ARE JUST SCAMMING OUR MONEY!

@Allanandlisa - I don't know which troll bridge you came out from under, but what you report is completely false. The 14 days you get to report an accidental stain or damage situation does not determine whether or not you receive service. If you called on day 20, you would still get service. It's when you and claim 6 different accidents at the same time - that's when you get denied.
@Mano212 - fork vs crayon is a big difference. We're talking intentional damage vs intentional staining. Of course neither are covered. Its like intentionally running your car off a cliff and expecting your insurance company to cover that. Don't be dumb. It's your responsibility to teach your children.
@SCarlete - your nearly $1000 sofa is probably not full grain 100% leather therefore it's probably some synthetic material like bonded leather, bicast, faux leather, or "leather look". Under your plan cracking and peeling on this material is NOT covered which is why you were probably denied. Dye transfer is also not covered - see your list of exclusions.

I am so disgusted by Magi Seal and Leon's. I did read the warranty and question the sales person before I purchased my leather sofa as I was seriously doubting their claims. After a year and a half of use the colour on the sofa has began to peel and the leather is cracking. The brochure clearly states that peeling and cracking of leather sofas is covered however Magi Seal has devised their own interpretation and say that only peeling of the actual leather and not the finish on top is included. My white sofa is all splotchy. I have used nothing but water and the products I was provided on this sofa and it looks hideous. It cost me nearly $1000. I have two children and have been very careful what I allow them to use on this sofa but the product I was sold is below quality and now Magi Seal is blaming Leon's and Leon's is blaming magi seal. I also asked about blue jean discoloration on my white sofa and sales rep said it was all covered- magi seal says I'm missinformed and my warranty states that colour transfer= jean discoloration. I'm heart broken and disgusted. I will fight both companies until one replaces my sofa

to johnehhh how can YOU purchase a product YOU don't know nothing about? Wouldn't you want to know everything BEFORE buying it so that you make an informed decision about your money? It is up to the consumer to do his homework BEFORE buying something, end of story. Take responsibility for your screw up and stop blaming the stores. You KNOW businesses are out to make money and they will try to sell you crap, and if you're dumb enough to purchase something without knowing all the ins and outs, you're the dumb one, not the store. Quit wining.

To buy or not buy Fabric Care.
After some research we are cancelling our Magi Seal due to the following reason.
The price about 10 % of purchase value for sofa . Save and budget for a dry or steam cleaning in the
future.
It appears to be a Peroxide ( organic) based chemical, . all that carbon and oxygen is flammable
and can decompose over time and will vaporise. We plan to sleep on this sofa.
If You are expecting and worryed about day to day spills cover it with an $80 wool blanket.
Wash as often as you like.
Also choice a sofa with cushions that turn or flip!

People need to use their common sense when they buy a warranty. If the store that sold the warranty cannot provide a pamphlet, as a consumer I would contact Magi Seal and request a list of what this company covers and what it doesn't. Customers need to inform themselves when they purchase anything. Quit blaming stores and blame yourselves for not educating yourselves!

Every complaint I see here is due to customer's not exercising their own due diligence. I worked at Leon's for about 6 months and hate the company but I did buy all my new furniture and appliances from them and I would say the Magi seal is a fantastic deal but just like with an extended warranty on a car, certain things are not covered like cat scratches on a leather couch. As always, buyer be ware, the salesman is there to sell you things and answer your questions, not to be your scape goat for when you realize you didn't do your job as a customer.

I never received a brochure or anything other than a magiseal phone number from Leons, the sales agent pushed and pushed the service on us to protect us from anything that went wrong in 5 years would be covered. Magiseal had a tech guy come out and he told me he would come back with dye and make it look like new, I received a call today saying it wasn't within 14 days it had excessive wear. I've only had it for 1.5 years. When i called Leons they said they had no idea about a 14 day occurance call and the store manager mysteriously disappeared for lunch at 4:30 and when I called back an hour later she was gone on a family emergency.
BIG BIG SCAM BIG BIG SCAM! TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW NOT TO PURCHASE THIS ...WASTED 200 DOLLARS! LEONS HAS LOST MY BUSINESS

I also purchased a sectional from Leons recently, my two year old son made some scratches on the leather which I reported within 14 days. I was told by the Magiseal representative that scrathes from a two year old were categorized as excessive and intentional, neither of which are covered, although she did mention that crayon marks were covered. How is my son colouring on the couch any different than him getting a hold of a plastic fork and "colouring"? Same idea, different tool. I guess crayon is easier to get off than repairing a scratch. I was distincly told by Leons that ANYTHING a child could do is covered.
