MagicJack scam, scam, scam

[protected], [protected] THESE ARE THE ONLY NUMBERS I WAS ABLE TO TALK TO SOMEONE. JUST IGNORE WHEN IT SAYS YOU HAVE REACHED THEM AFTER HOURS AND IT WILL RING. THIS IS THE BIGGEST FRAUD I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES. WHAT PART OF THIS COMPANY IS NOT A FRAUD? I HAVE TALKED TO THEM THROUGH THE LIVE CHAT AND ON THE PHONE. THEY CHARGED MY CARD THE SECOND I HIT SUBMIT. NOT 30 DAYS LATER. . [protected], [protected] YOU WILL HAVE ALOT OF FUN TALKING TO THEM.

Is the cord going from the back of the Magic Jack to your phone over 6 feet long?
If so, it can't be. I had similar issues, until I installed a shorter cord.

My magic Jack does not work! I spent 2 hours on the phone from tech to tech asking me to do the same thing. the forth tech promised to fix the problem! No more chances, no more time to spend on the product, I went to the store to exchange the product for my defective JACK...same problem, laggs my computer...cant always dial out or receive calls... CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TRAINED NOT TO HELP! This is the biggest rip off ever! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

MagicJack magic jack qualty & live agents

I bought the Magic Jack in Spt 08. I am very pleased with it, I don't know why these people are having issues like this. There is only 2 things that get me, 1 Some times the quality breaks up and I have to reboot the PC or the call will cut off after about a hour. And 2, Some of the live agents don't know anything, They just give you a bunch of bull. Would be nice If we could call some one. But I like it, Saves me lots of money, When you go to complete the purchase it says Debit card users will get charged asap. I used my debit card. I have no problems other then thoes 2. Witch A little hassle like this is ok with me. It is saving me LOTS of money so far.

I have had magicjack PLUS for about a year now and it just quit ; And I Can't get a live agent to talk too on this computer . What I Want to know is WHY CAN'T THERE BE A PHONE # TO CALL AND TALK TO SOME-ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE ; I am not a typist and it takes a long time to type out any conversation I might have WHEN AND IF I GET A LIVE AGENT...

I have had a magic jack for years, I was pleased when I was able to get the magic jack plus, Not having to leave my computer on was a plus for me... Never an issue, nothing but GREAT phone service, recomended it to several people, and many have switched. I set it up for them and they now enjoy the same great service that I have had... Thank you Magic Jack what a great product !

MagicJack unauthorized billing

I have had the following problems with this item; malfunctioning product; does not change phone number; I do not have a real phone number in which I can talk to a live person and report these problems; ask for help and ask for an exchange in product since mine is malfunctioning a lot. Sometimes it doesn't work at all. They have on line chat people that the type in area to text them doesn't work. So how I am I suppose to get any! Help!

This business seems like a big rip off to me! I can't return the item; I can't change the number? I can't even send it back to a reputable address in which I only have a P.O. Box and that's all! I've been very upset about this! I wanted some kind of help or solution of this problem and I get zilchin return! Just magicjack taking my money and that's it!

I would like some help in this problem! This sounds like a fradulent company to me! No help! No restitution! I guess my problem!

The site tells you how wonderful their product is but offers NO cost information untill after you've provided all your credit card information. IF you go to the next page to learn how much it costs, they send you their product even if you tell them you DON"T want it and then offer you a complex method to return it.

I am very frustrated with my Magicjack. Some of my complaints that I have are: There is no proper Customer Support Service. There is no contact number where you can speak to a live person, only chatting and that does not help me. At times when I make my call my connections are very poor. My words drags. Sometimes the person on the other end cannot hear me, but I can hear them. At times when I dial a phone number, it keep going back to the dial tone.

Currently I am not getting any service from my Magicjack. It lights up when I plug it in to my laptop, but I am getting a message that I should type in my e-mail address or phone number and to put my password in, so I did, and still am cannot get any service. I need to reach my mother and my daughter and cannot do so because I cannot get any service. Now I am stuck with an item that does not work. My sons are going off to college in a few weeks and I need for someone to contact me NOW to rectify this problem. (pleezzzzzzzzzzzz)

MagicJack can't get refund

I've been trying to get a refund for the extended service plan that I paid $59.95 for and doesn't even kick in until the end of my initial year of so-called service you get with the purchase of the MagicJack. However, their customer service people can not understand that and insist on interpreting my request as a request for a refund on the MagicJack itself which is beyond their 30-day period for a refund. I've sent out at least 8 emails to them trying to tell them I do not want a refund for the MagicJack itself, but for the extended service plan.

Anybody reading this should be warned NOT to buy this product. I had nothing but headaches with it from the start and mistakingly tried to get it to work beyond the 30-day refund period. MagicJack sounds too good to be true and it is.

Don't ever get MAGICJACK voip phone service. They took my 5 year subscription fees, then couldn't fix a problem 1 year into the 5 year service, and would not refund the remaining four years after over 45 hours spent online with numerous chat sessions in an attempt to solve the problem. At less than two dollars an hou...r, getting the lousy $65 back just wasn't worth my time anymore. Mine will go in the trash.

MagicJack fraud / lies / no customer service

Shame on Magic Jack for the Scam they have unvailed upon it's own people of America. My complaints are justified and real. I fell into their pack of lies and this is the result:
1. Customer service sucks
2. Live help does not exist, when you click on it, it just goes to a page with more sales hype
3. They promised me when they got the Montaa 406 area code I could switch. After hours of trying to get that done, I finally gave up.
4. Calls drop after a few minutes for no reason.
5. Poor sound quality... They other person has trouble hearing me on all calls.

I would like to see Magic Jack crucified and hung out to dry for all Americans to see...OH, and how could they violate that youg innocent girl in their bogus lying advertisement?

Because we were trying to save money due to me being disabled after 30yrs working and my husband's hours was cut to 20 hrs a week. This is what happened: Oct.15 2012 I found my husband unresponsive in bed, I tried to call 911 and Operator with no luck, I ran to neighbors trying to get help and due to the time everyone was at work so I had to call his father in another county to call 911.There is no way I can explain the panic I was in not being able to call for help. Now saying this, with my husband it would have not mattered which I did not know at the time, but what if it had mattered? Just think of having a loved one that is in sever distress and cannot get help. If it had stated on the package: WARNING PLEASE ARRANGE FOR EMERGENCY HELP DUE TO NOT BEING TO PROVIDE FOR THIS SERVICE, there would have been no way we would have bought this service and if we had we would have made other arrangements for emergencies.

I really don't know what to say. When I bought my MJ I purchased 2 of them. I only used 1 which was all I needed. I was going to give the other one to my granddaughter. Mine worked fine. I quit using mine when I was told I had breast cancer. I couldn't use the computer or phone for awhile. Then I had to have rotater cuff surgery and now I'm trying to get my MJ working again. NO LUCK. HELP.

I am an IT Tech going on 12 years now and you are wrong! MagicJack is nothing but trouble. I wasted a half a day of my life I will never get back online with their so-called customer support person. All that was accomplished after various fixes and updates was my computer sound no longer worked along with device manager and other apps. It totally took over various parts of my system and reconfigured so many things I thought I would never get things back to normal.

The savings promised by MagicJack in no way compensates for the pure aggravation it causes.

I am a unpleased consumer as well, who wants to find a class action attorney and sue Magic Jack for Fraud, the most recent thing is there billing scam, where they tell you that you will be billed the next month and then they bill you at that time. I think the part of this you all are missing is that the operation of the Magic Jack depends on not only the device itself, but more importantly on the computer system and internet connection it's attached to. I'm not suggesting that your computers are to blame, but there is a good chance there is nothing wrong with your Magic Jack. Instead of complaining online, I would first look at my system. Is it running efficiently? Is something preventing the device to function properly? Try it on different computers, different internet connections. If the Magic Jack still fails to function in all of these scenarios, contact customer support, or return the device to the store you bought it from. It's laughable that there are talk of class action lawsuits, when 99% of these problems are probably due to user ineptitude.

Let's be honest--I re-signed for a 5 year renewal license because I LIVE on my computer, use my telephone very infrequently and loathe paying for a service that I seldom use. However, you DO get what you pay for and MagicJack has many, many annoying issues. Chief among these, is its tendency to take over (and generally MESS UP) your configurations after one of its frequent updates. And woe-woe-WOE-be-unto-you if you should need to "rely upon the kindness of (those) Customer 'Support' strangers" in MagicJack-neverland (!) It can get...very ugly, very quickly. Not only should you expect to spend a MINIMUM of 30 minutes phone time, even after your call has been escalated to a supervisor; but these supervisory techs are a bit on the arrogant side as they fail to fix your MJ issues. In the end, I find that I repair these glitches myself...just in time for the next Magicjack update (she adds dryly)

the technology of this product is not mature yet. the inventor push this product really hard with a lot features which most of them don't work really well. haven't tried the conference call yet. but other works very inconsistently. it's not very portable because you have to do the setting often. for me i have to reformat the drive, reinstall the software, reboot the router and pc. it takes about 30~40 mins almost everyday of my precious time to get this product going. the sound quality is not guaranteed. don't use this product on important phone calls. and not 100% proof about the voice mail service. i am very disappointed with their way of technical support. because each time you want to solve a problem you will have to set aside 2 to 3 hours of your time to get to somewhere. there is no guaranteed you will get your problems solved. i have persistent nagging problems with the product which is not unable to load dialpad. others' have different sets of problem. i was asking for a replacement. but they ask me to get it from canada whichi is where i bought from. but in canadian reseller does not honouring any warranty for the product except for 30 days. most people don't use that much within the first 30 days. i notice some problem. but i always thought it was my on my side not magic jack's, for not computer literate and broadband issues. as i use it more, i realize the product itself does not deliver as it promised. especially the daily routine (30-40 mins)to load the dialpad, not to mention if your computer goes in hibernation/sleep/accidental shutdown; when these happen you might have to restart from scratch all over again. for this reason the product itself is not good for formal conversation otherwise you might offend the other party. and technical support through chatting it's slow and hard to follow especially you are a slow typist. i also find them us my issues and valuable time as their learning experience. i don't mind if they can fix the problem which they didn't do that well of the job most of the time. i taught couple of their senior guys regarding my issues. my final words is, i am stuck with the product, i just have to find ways to make the best use out of it

To Magicjack:

I have no clue as to the effectiveness of your product --- but have no interest in purchasing ANYTHING from a company that uses a pitch man like Mel Arthur. Is this guy for real? His toupe is absurd and I cannot take my eyes away from it and I cannot stop laughing long enough to actually review the product. Get a life, Mel! And when these people eventually pay you, buy a new hair piece that doesn't look like you got it at a Halloween store!

MagicJack watch out

MagicJack stresses in its ads that you can try it free for 30 days, and that all you need to do to use it is Plus any phone into it, plug it into any USBport, and pick up your phone to talk for free.Their material even includes quotes along the lines of "This is so easy that grandma can do it!"

HOWEVER, while my magicJack just arrived at my home around Dec. 15th, I just found out today (the 20th) that it must be physically back in their hands before the 30 days since I ordered it on the phone are up or you have ipso/facto ordered their product! In other words, I would have just about had to mail it back the day it arrived! So much for a free 30 day trial!

Another example of false or misleading advertising: they rave about how you can take the magicjack with you when you travel and call free from anywhere, but neglect to mention that you actually need TWO magicjacks if you use it for all your local and long distance calls.

There is also what I consider to be misleading advertising by omission. MagicJack loudly emphasizes that one of the service you get, like free voicemail, is a free number. It neglects to mention that this means you have to have a brand new phone number which will have the same area code but the rest of it, including the prefix, may bear no resemblance whatsoever to your current number! Grandma might be able to do the installation (though see my comment below) but I bet she didn't realize that she'll have to notify all her friends and business contacts of her new number!

When they refer to the easy 1-2-3- steps, they neglect to inform you that you must fill out a very confusing registration form before you can do anything. This form does such disconcerting things as ask you to select as an option free outgoing calls. Why would that be an option if the whole point is that you just buy the magicJack and then your telephoning is all free for a year? It also includes a Terms of Sale which again refers to opting for free outgoing service... When you look at FAQ, you're told that to get answers to relevant questions (e.g. are there any times of day that are not free or is the time of the call limited in any way, ) you must look at the Terms of Agreement, but if that info is buried in there somewhere I didn't see it.

To top things off, there is absolutely no direct contact info: no address or email or phone through which you can register a complainy (as opposed to asking how to do X or Y).

I am very, very disappointed in this product and will not recommend it to anyone.

Any Law Firm with class action suit against MagicJack...they take immediate payment of $85, know my area code ..zip code is not accessible...then make promises to refund after equipment returned...then lie to say never paid, but they say they have already make refund...just a true SCAM...and a wealthy law firm deserves more wealth paid to them by MagicJack

I have had excellent service from magicjack, if your voice quality is bad then it must be your internet service. If you didn't receive a unit you ordered then you should have went to a retail store and purchased the item. This company has brought innovation to the telephone industry, and saves us money. Why would you think $20/year would provide any kind of quality, reliability, or integrity?

Before I upgraded to FIOS from RoadRunner, getting 50% more bandwith and 100% less problems all for about 45% less money, I canceled the phone portion of my account.

I recommend you shop around for a VoIP (voice over IP) phone provider that has the features- and price you want.

MagicJack worked for awhile and then I ran into their lousy customer service

Whew! What a ride to nowhere this thing is! I got the Magicjack and used it for about a week and started running into problems. It stopped booting up. So I went to their useless customer service chatline. I spent hours with their chat people trying to get this thing working and whenever they hit a snag they hangup on you. Then you are left with a lousy piece of junk and no phone number to call for reall support like a real company has. This is a total ripoff. If anyone wants to start a class action suit I will be a plaintiff.

I ordered the magicjack from tv and recieved it in the mail. They had already taken out the amount of money they said they were going to take. Today, they took $133.00 plus change out of my bank account! No one ever said anything about a charge like this. How can I get my money back and send this back to them? How can I stop them from getting any more money? Nevermind, I am contacting the Attorney General of the state I live in!

I have found with many problems like yours, to contact the Better Business Bureau in your state. Each time I have tried on my own and gotten nowhere, they alwasy seem to be able to take care of it for me. Try them, you may get satisfaction faster with them.

MagicJack ripoff

Every time I dial a number the call gets disconnected and I've tried everything the companies website suggests I do but still I have the same problem. Their website claims I can speak with someone live over the net, BOLOGNA, all I keep getting is a catch 21. No one to complain too but a regularly asked questions page. So here I sit a DISABLE person without a phone. I suggest you do your homework before you invest your hard earned money on this product.
P.S. I have been forced to buy a pay as you go cell phone. I could have used the money they conveniently removed from my pocket to pay for a real phone!

You would be better off getting a cellphone through unicel (now verizone wireless) or At&t wireless called the lifeline program, ask about it. It is available to low-income or people who receive gov't assistance: foodstamps, medicaid. etc. Just ask about the Lifeline Program and phone. Sometimes they have free phones. Just pay activation fee, and the first month bill and every month your bill will typically be in the $20 - $30 range.

MagicJack cannot contact company

Product has never functioned properly. Cannot contact company. They say my password is incorrect. I ask for confirmation via e-mail. They send password. I attempt to enter my account, but password doesn't work. I upgraded my computer, and now they say magicjack won't work on my edition of Windows. I have XP, but they say I have NT. What is going on?

Magicjack sucks after first year, it will not connect for use. No one in technical support will help and they will not refund my money I paid for my year of service either. They need to make it work before advertising how good the service is, I will only use my packet 8 digital phone service. It works great, if a problem they will fix it from the office or i will have to just reset it then works great.

Same there, MagicJack is a MagicScam. There is noway to contact them! Their LiveChat just link you to their faq page again and again, no way to have any live person to explain your problem.

When I try to start my device (untill now I can't register), I receive an error message telling me that my version of windows doesn't support MagicCrap (I run Windows XP Pro), telling me that WinNT 5.1 was detected. Very frustrating. Be aware of this fake company.

MagicJack lies and abuse

I purchased this product after seeing the informercial on TV in October, of cause they make great claims about how you will get free calls at zero cost if you purchase their product, they also claim that you have 30 days to test the product, sounds good, and as usual these companies take your money and then fail to work with you if their is a problem.

I am outraged as to their lies and deciept, I had used the product once and then the problems started, of cause they only have customer service via the Internet, they made 50 different requests as to how to fix the problems, and none worked. I requested a replacement which they promised to ship, once again the lied.

This product is worthless and this company should be put out of business, they have no customer service and yet they claim how successful the product has been, unfortunately it is all lies and they are also abusive, my only hope is that this is read and people realize this company is a fake, and their product is useless and a total failure, it has cost me time and money, unfortunately they are also the most unprofessional organization I have ever worked with, please do not buy this product.

be fooled by Magic Jack The first year is 19.00 but you have to buy a router for about fifty dollars Keep your own number but you have to buy it from AT&T Port forwarding which stops your land line if your on dsl you have reorder as internet only ( new account set up) about $40 .MAGIC JACK PLUS 60 DOLLARS NO COMPUTER NEED TO RUN BUT HAVE TO HAVE COMPUTER TO SET IT UP, Next year 31.00 plus 10 more dollars to use your old phone number (Can get it for five years for 99 dollars which is the advertized price .But they don't say you have to renew for five years. And have to have a genius son to set it all up lol, Can you tell I am mad . Took it out of my account without permission and didn't send anything saying it was more to renew,

The so-called comapany "Magic Jack" is a fake, a scam, a fraud, and the most worthless, pathetic organization I have ever heard of. If they're smart why not come up with a way of doing business that is not going to screw their customers they doop into believing in them and their product, and that is not hopefully going to screw them in the end (which I really hope every one of those a..holes involved in that so called organization, gets what they deserve BIG TIME!).

I made the mistake of believing the freakin commercial, it sounded really good, and even though i became a bit skeptical when that guy in the commercial (i believe it was 4 or 5 different times), he kept trying to convince the viewers how much money they were gonna save, by saying (how about one hundred, two hundred, three hundred, ... how about one thousand dollars)...

Bottom line, that itself made it an automatic FRAUD/SCAM. If they really are a respectable, successfull company, why the hell would they need to flash so much money in front of you to convince you that you WANT their product and that they're gonna save you tons of money... if they are what they are trying to tell you they are, they'd have good customer support that you can actually call and what a person should do before they order anything, is gather the customer support info, check the BBB, do a little research on the company, call their customer support and see how they handle your call. If they tell you to just go to their website for support or to call a totally different number after telling you all this information... maybe assume you should try to find a product from a company that is well known and trusted and that is well established...

Heres my experience...

I have not received the magic jack yet, as I ordered it this weekend, after talking to a co-worker who told me he sent one to a relative. I was under the belief that there would be no charges unless i decided to keep it, if it was otherwise, they are FRAUDS and scammers, because they say NO charges, free shipping... and i checked my transactions, today, and guess what... there is a $1.00 charge and a $49.00 charge on my card. Plus, when after i was done with the order, the next page took me to an OFFERS page where i could order an additional Magic Jack. I did not click any buttons, but there were no choices other than to order an additional magic jack... so i just exited the page. That was this weekend 1/10/2009.

I am afraid they are going to keep charging me, so I am going to have to close my card account and open a new one...

anyone with similar experience. Do they just keep on charging you?

MagicJack not reliable

Magicjack is not reliable and the company does not stand behind their product. I have spent over a dozen hours on chats trying to keep it working. After a host of changes to my settings that their agents walk me through I could get the unit working, but usually it would quit after a few days. After 2 months of trying to make it reliable I asked for a refund and was denied, now I am waiting for a replacement but have seen a number of complaints posted because they charge you for the replacement, then deny that they received the returned unit and will not give you your refund. I am now wondering if I will cancel the replacement and just chalk this up to my stupidity and their lack of integrity.

Magicjack sucks monkey's balls! I have been having it second year and lately it has been giving dropped calls and gaps in conversations as if a very bad cell phone reception. Some numbers I dial it won't even connect to. It takes forever for the software to load after PC reboot and it seems that they simply don't care about improving its firware. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE service. The company is very snobbish when it comes to customer service, in fact their customer service is one of the worst I have ever dealt with. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR FOLKS! I hope this company vanishes as quickly as it appeared, definitely a get rich quick scheme here, I wouldn't say that if not for all the unreliable dropped calls and horrible service, not only in my experience but with many others. Take that Dan Borislow - the "inventor"...

I thought Magic Jack is Magic and so I bought 5 UNITS to give out to friend and use as extra phone lines at work. The turn out is terrible. When ever it works, I get a call. If it is lazy, I don't get a call. Hope Magic jack do something about this. The idea is wonderful but I need MJ that work. If you are thinking of buying one, you need to think again.

MagicJack fraudulent charges

I have had problems with this company 2/08 it was hard working with them; they said just try our phone service; we will not charge you. I mailed them their jack back and got a tracking number from the US mail service; to prove it. But they did! After the phones didn't work, I ask them to stop the free try; it didn't work for me in my state using the chat. Later they begin to random amounts of money off my credit card, I had to fill a complaint with my credit card company they would not give me back my money.

Now, today 10/31/08 they have don the same in again; using my credit card, I didn't know they keep credit card numbers; how can they do this? Look at the numbers of months it has been. I am disable; now I have no money to pay my rent and lights, this how I found out I had no money to pay my rent when I got my SSI money I went to go pay my rent and no money. What do I do now? It was months last time to get my money back; its cold here in my state I do not have any more money until next month. I MAY NOT HAVE A PLACE TO LIVE; no money for rent. Its the free try, that got me!

Other web business, should speak up; its companies like this that will make it bad for you as well.

I never had to give them my credit card...I just bought the darn thing and plugged it in and it worked...It comes with free service for a whole year...You dont need to put in a credit card or nothing. If ya dont like giving them a credit card then just by a new one every year...they are only 30 bucks...WHY THE HELL DID YOU HAVE TO GIVE THEM A CREDIT CARD FOR THE FREE TRY?!?!?!? I DIDNT! This "scam" sounds like a scam if you ask me!

MagicJack no longer works and they can't fix it

The magic jack never worked as suggested just by plugging into my computer. I had to start the program. After several months of use it no longer worked at all. I spent nearly 10 hours of time with there four different on site live agents ... the last one named Crissa and they could never get it to work . They finally agreed to send me a new magic jack but the frustration with their technical help was beyond belief. I have tried to contact Don Borislow the inventor at Ymax but they have no email contact on their web site just a mail address in West Palm Beach, Florida. I have recorded two of the six on line chats in my email that show the run around you get from people who don't know how to fix the technical issues with their product. I

So all it read above is prob primarily with tech support. Don, requesting you to please improvise team and not compromise on quality. The other ends are not simply buyers but honestly are m.j interested people who bought your product looking for a savings to their hard earned money.

Please be wary when buying MagicJack! I have hated it right from the start. The connection is bad half the time, and the other half of the time I hear my echo. But... I figured I could put up with these minor inconveniences because of the money it was saving. Well, about a week and a half ago it started dropping calls. I contacted "support" and they told me to do some things and then assured me that my problem was fixed. Not so much! I continued to drop calls, so I contacted "support" again and was on the computer with them for 6 hours! I chatted with 6 different people, and they all assured me that problem was fixed. Finally, at the end of my very frusterating conversation with the last "supervisor" I was told to move my phone away from the speaker, and if that didn't work than it must be my ISP provider! PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE, save yourself the headache! It does save you alot of money but what save in phone bills is more than made up for in what you will spend in asprin!

for what I've paid for this service, it is well worth it, got rid of cable related phone co---magic jack is only house phone we use, (have Cell), the first year was up and the little square that is on computer screen said my service had expired--knew this was incorrect, so last week called, (today is 09-14-09), had chat with operator who didn't help much, and was disconnected. Tonight tried again, and chatted with lady named Jewel who was very knowledgeable and walked me thru the renew procress ( I had originally bought the 2nd year) as to where to put the claim code so my service would be connected again--she was very patient, and now my service is reconnected. So yes I'am happy with magic jack and will continue with them next year----(now I know how to do that) from Tampa Fl

this is my 2nd year with M.j. and I really dont use the thing everyday but for the most part it doe's seem to work for me, but again I really look at it as somewhat of a toy, we dont have a house phone everyone here use's their cell's but yes it can save on cell phone minutes (alot more then 20 dollars a yr worth) if you wanted it to...really dont think I would trust it as a everyday house phone and I dont like the idea you would have to keep your pc on 24/7...but if you look on ebay under M.J. people are selling thin clients that are pre configured so you would just have to plug in and keep it separate from your pc, ( save's on elec & ware on pc)...
But bottom line yeah sometimes it echo's /sounds tinny/and still dont have my local area code in fl. but for 20 bucks a yr im ok with it and will renew next yr if they are still around...

having been in tech support and IT for years i found it extremely frustrating working with their so-called support. they read from prompts, have little or no pc knowledge and if you use chat, well they don't read half what you say. i had to repeat certain things so many times i finally just copied a response and kept pasting it since they kept asking the same inane questions over and over. i even attempted to help guide them to where the problem might lie and was totally ignored. why? because all their responses to answers are pre-documented in their dbase so there is only the illusion of actual human interaction. literally ten hours of chat in 2 days time, they don't listen, can't think on their own and in the end blame the problem on your isp. i've learned my lesson, you get what you pay for. yes the product worked well for two months but considering i paid for two years i'd have done better with an overpriced cell plan.

I used the magic jack failry well for one month. But now when i clik on the icon ared warning says to plug it in the usb. Tried in diffrerent computers and got the same result. unable to start it. Now it is seen in my computer as an ordinary drive. When trying to format ithe drive it says there is no media in it and cannot format. No help is available from them. Actually it is purchased for five years and only used for one month.

Hi all!

I have had reasonably good communications, using magic-jack. I used it in The U.S., prior to
relocating to The Philippines; &, I've continued to enjoy fairly good communications with it,
here, as well. Perfect, unbroken communications? At times; but, usually, at some point in
time, communication breaks up during conversations (just as it does, during cell-phone
communications). Over the holidays, I experienced problems with dropping calls; &, not
being able to reconnect right away. One thing to bear in mind, it (is) neccessary to click
to get upgrades, (all the time); it does tend to clear up problems.

That being said, my complaint is the communications box that pops up when you click
on Live Person. While I can move my pointer around, inside that box, no matter what
I try, I have never been successful (while in The Philippines) at getting the cursor to
appear, when I click to begin keying in the communication; so, I am unable to communicate
with a Live Person, Period!

Also, I was hoping to obtain a listing for international rates; &, can't find any, within
the provisions of their site. Well, in order to get any info about it, you have to fill in
their form, with your e-mail & password. Problem is that my e-mail address has
changed since I ordered Magic Jack; &, while they have a supposed provision to
correct this, under forgot e-mail/password, it is the (same exact) thing! Same
screen, same form! So, you figure; okay, I'll submit it, under my current e-mail
address, according to their claim that they will e-mail me information; &, when
I check my e-mail: Nothing! So, my frusteration is that I can not, in any way,
shape or form, communicate with (anyone) from magic jack support, in order
to get my questions answered!

Magic Jack hasn't worked right from the begining. It Isn't as easy as they said to get it working and it doesn't work right when you make a phone call. Trusted people told me I sound a million miles away and most of the time all I heard was their voices echoing in my phone & I did there fix & it didn't fix the problems. I couldn't have a good conversation with any one. to me it 's a rip off and I havent found any way to talk with a magic jack representitive I want them to take backand not bill me.I am still trying to find away to get them to cancell my order.In mybook they are scamming every one.

I have had magic jack for well over 6 months. I can only have a 34 second conversation before being disconnected.
I cannot reach a live operator. I do not recommend Anyone purchasing this product. We had our house phone disconnected after one month because it was working so well . My parents decided to purchase it also, and they too are have the same problems.

MagicJack worst company ever

There is a 3-5 second delay with MJ phone calls. I have tried two different types of phones, MJ rep told me to install the upgrade, change USB ports, edit my computer registry. No change. Then she told me to go to speedtest.net which showed my upload time was half of my download time. MJ rep told me it was my DSL contact my ISP. My ISP says I have the latest firmware and DSL router that there is nothing wrong with my DSL. I will take MJ gadget to work to try a T1 with a different ISP. I'll update you if this makes a difference. Luckily, I have not completely canceled my landline number. I have also read that the 911 feature doesn't really work like they say it should... and it would be horrible to find that out during a real emergency. MJ *** in my opinion... don't waste your money.

MagicJack fraud

Back in June 2008, I ordered 2 MagicJack services from Magicjack.com who guarantee a 30 day examination period, however, they fail to provide any return shipping address with any of their correstpondence and, disable any buttons on their website to enable a return "within 30 days",
Before I ordered, I was told on live chat, the 30 day period starts upon activation. Thats a $20 activation fee and $20 per year plus shipping.
Magic Jack refused to supply me a return address and when I threatened a credit card charge back, I was told "good luck" and they disconnected the live chat.
Royal Bank investigated, confirmed that it was impossible to "return" and by some miricale obtained an address and phone number, told me to return "the item" that is a one time, disposable USB stick that has no value and is not reusuable. that's Royal's cop out to say "you did not return the item", obviously, one is not going to spend $20 to return a $20 item.

Its Royal Bank's cowardly way of failing to act ethically.

After numerous phone calls, I'm guessing 4 hours in total, Royal back 4 months later tell me to call Visa International.

Not much hope there either.
Both Royal Bank Visa and Visa international did not appear concerned by a threat of negative feedback.

Royal and VISA have a product guarantee but, read the fine print, its next to useless.

I'm looking for another credit card company who will provide recourse against FRAUD.

If you are thinking of doing business with MagicJack.com, DONT use your VISA CARD. MagicJack is using a "visa card game" to avoid refunds within its 30 day period.

I'm beginning to develop a real hatred towards Dan of MagicJack, this company is fraudulent in the extreme.
Just check the incredible number of complaints to the Florida Better Business Bureau.

There are Many many other legitimate companies that provide a better service than magic jack at far less cost and most importantly, good companies providing excellent value without operating a FRAUD or providing false and misleading information.
One company does deserve a plug, they put MagicJack to shame and thats www.FreePhoneLine.ca I'd give them top marks.

Again, Royal Visa fails to charge back on behalf of customers who suffer fraudulent sales. They have the power to do charge backs, but for some reason, certain companies, very carefully arrange their affairs to avoid 99.999% of charge backs. MagicJack is one company that has managed to do that and is to be avoided at all costs.

Magic jack is a scam i would not recommend this product i would not put anyone through this *** *** junk and having that little girl lie for them on site shame on you magic ***. They need a law suit on them and especially no phone number for customer support they must not like it either for them to have magic jack and not have phone for c/s whats up with that and there chat clients are not good also they must of just started to school on customer service and still in kindergarten, magic jack you need to be put out of business and a big law suit.

Our original MJ quit working.

MJ recommended a new model and we paid for it.

The new model worked only periodically and MJ customer service wouldn’t help.

The newer model ended-up not working at all.

I have bought Magik Jack Plus, three years ago + a Canadian phone number. The second year (last year), I have renewed my MJP device, but not my phone number... Because I didn't use it at that time and I didn't care if I had to change number later.

This year after renewing my MJP device, I've decided to buy a Canadian phone number as well... So I've taken the chance that my old number would be still available, and place the order. Not long after, I've received an order confirmation for my old number... So surprisingly, it was still available.

A couple of days after, I've tried to call with my MJP device but my phone number didn't seem to be active in my account, so I've contacted the customer service, and talked with 3 persons...To finally learn that the reason why my phone number didn't work it's because they've chosen to apply my last week payment on LAST YEAR renewal instead of this year... Without me knowing.

After explaining to the agent that I didn't want to renew last year... She responded "that the Canadian number must be renewed yearly to remain active. If it wasn't renewed, the number will be deactivated.

Personnaly, I didn't care if my number was deactivated or not... I simply took the chance, this time, that the same number would be still be available... THAT'S IT. Why should I pay for last year as well, I could have taken another number just the same.

So I've ask the lady not to apply my last week payment on last year renewal, but instead I would simply take another number... But guess what ? There's no refund on phone number... So I'm stuck. If I want to keep old number, I have to pay again. And if I want a new number, I still have to pay again.

So bottom line, I just renewed my device, renewed my phone number... And I'm still incapable of doing a simple call... Isn't it wonderful?

The bright side of it is that I had this reality check before using Magic Jack plus, with my new business... And before spending much more money.

I wanted to share that story for people to be aware.

Recently watched infomercial for the the magic jack . Against by better judgement, I decided to order. Never spoke with a person, all recording. After giving all my info, per the recording since I was using a debit card they would charge me immediately. There was no one to say NO to, even though that was not mentioned on the infomercial, so now I have no choice. Today, I received my Magic Jack and was totally surprised to learn after reading the agreement, that I can be charged internet charges among other charges. This, also, was not mentioned on TV. I am unable to get a customer service phone # to call. I want to return this immediately. When going to the website, it says in order to get credit for your return you must return with a RMA#. OK, so I filled the form to get my RMA # and guess what? None of my info was accurate enough to get a RMA#. So, Now what? I think a lot of people are going to be very unhappy with this company.

Magic Jack's customer service stinks! I am highly disappointed with Magic jack. My problem has not been resolved and I don't think that it will be resolved. Unhappy! Their customer service consist of one lady with an foreign accent who changes her name every time you call. [protected]) I've been trying to make a payment for the last three and a half hours with absolutely no success. I am attempting to renew my yearly subscription and every time I input my credit card information I receive a red message stating that "We are not able to process your payment method" and being that their system was not able to process my card information, my payment will not be processed. So I called my credit card company and was informed that the payment amount have been reduced from my account by magic jack. Once again I called Magic Jack's customer service and received this same lady with a new name, who told me that Magic Jack will place a hold on the bill amount until the card information is verified. This seems odd because in order for money to be withdrawn from any account you will need their card information, which is what I supplied! but my card was not processed?. Since their payment system has not been able to process my credit card, my payment will be credited as no payment made. By this time the customer service agent had gotten really upset since she could not solve my problem and suggested that I wasn't following her instructions properly, (I have followed her instruction, every step by step) frustrated with my problem she then abruptly hung the phone up! WOW! And my problem is still unresolved! All I want to do is pay my bill!

Have purchased and used a majic jack for for a few years, no major problems. last week my original MJ unit malfunctioned. I called MJ and was told my unit was out of warranty, so I purchased a new unit which I installed a few days after delivery. While I had the original MJ unit, purchased an international calling plan to be able to call my son in the military overseas. Everything worked fine until I installed the replacement unit. From that point on, I have unable to use the International calling service, even tho I still have a $15.88 credit on my account. I have spent six days trying to resolve the problem with no positive results. I purchased an additional $10 of service thinking that would rectify the problem...not so.. Now MAJIC JACK is in to me for $20(new unit) $15.88 (credit on account) and $10 for additional international srvice. TOTAL=$45.88 and no one at mj can solve what seems to me to be a simple problem.v MY FINAL ASSESSMENT OF MJ...PRODUCT=GOOD SERVICE= SUCKS Would not reccomend it

I received a magicJack form my father. He used it a few years ago when he went over seas and he said he had no major problems with. I hooked it up to my computer and tried to register it, got to the page where I submitted my credit card info then it just went blank. So i contacted their joke of a customer service. Its a live chat and it is horrible. After 5 hours of chatting, 4 "upgrades", submitting my credit card info 7 times and even giving them remote access to my computer the problem was never fixed. When I told them how upset I was and that I wanted to talk to a live person they told me that there was no number to call the chat was to better serve the customers. I never got the darn thing to work and they now have my credit card info. I advise anyone who reads this never use magicJack . I should have listened to the complaints I read before I tried.

They told me my order was canceled but still charged my creditcard. and gave two links where i can get the magicjack. could you please help me to get my money back. I usede the magic talk without the the jack and it worked fine. but after paying they gave me a USA number. but after the 1st of februari the software said that my trial had expired. Everytime i try to log in to use it it gives me the same dialog. could you please send me the phone number of them so I can call them to claim my money back or get my account opened again beacuse it worked fantastic during the trial.

I ordered free trial and agreed to $3.95 shipping, instead the charged me:
Date: 08/20/2010 Charge Amount: $4.14
The also put an authorization for the full amount of the purchase on my account. They claim it is the card company that is doing this but that is not true, MJ submitted it for authorization.

I don't have access to that money so i might as well have purchased it outright! I then get an email (after the fact) of them telling me they put this authorization on the card, without my consent. I agreed to pay it when the 30 day trial was up, IF idecided to keep the product.

Documentation of these transactions is available I SAVE EVERYTHING!

MagicJack unauthorized charges in large amounts

The phone service is horrible, the 'free 30 day trial' is charged to your account the minute you make the order, and then you wake up less than a month later having already spent $60 on the thing when your account is charged $93.80 out of the blue. I am in process of filing a dispute but don't hold out much hope. This is a disgraceful scam and after all these complaints, why is their ad still running? Are fraudulent companies allowed to advertise on TV? Where is the FCC?

I too had exactly $93.80 charges on BOTH my debit card and credit card and when I tried to challenge them, they cut off my service, I also have an unexplained charge of $69.95. I have 45 pages on Microsoft Word of chats with these people and most of them promise to have this solved in 24 hours, this started in July 2011 and is still not resolved. AND in the meantime (because my account is under review) I can't use my MagicJack.
