Magic Jack does not have a customer service rep when you call, they try to force you to order on their hotline. They tell you it works with DSL, sure, it does, but you still need your phone service to use your DSL, therefore, you still have two bills. one for their product and one for your dsl. If you have a cable modem, then you may want to get it, but if you google: Magic Jack complaints, you may want to think twice, because the internet is full of complaints from them. Which is how I found this site. BUYER BEWARE!
I signed into my account and everything was sufficient with the functioning of the device. It appeared to be operating correctly. Then it kicked me off of my signed in account and wouldn't recognize my email address. Sounds like a web errer and not the device to me. My first Magic Jack experience. WoW!
I have not been able to make even a single call in last 8 months from this piece of junk. It worked OK for initial few months after I bought it, but I am really frustrated with this product.
Whenever I dial any number, only thing I hear is 'silence' while the number I call rings but when the person picks up the call, nothing happens. This is going on for last 8-10 months.
I bought this over 6 months ago.. can not use it.. you cant hear anything (it sounds like static.)when you call someone.
No way to contact them to cancel billing.
I will sue them if they try to hold money out of checking without contacting me first.
I can't make calls unless I disable my firewall. They don't have a number you can call to troubleshoot problems, you can only chat with an "agent" online. The only thing they can tell me is to disable my firewall. The firewall is there for my protection, so I don't get virus's and other things that can damage my PC. Don't even bother with this company, I'm switching back to Vonage.

After following all of the given instructions of not only the procedures on the instruction package but also the on-line tech's, my magic jack is not even giving me a phone number nor is it working. I have registered over and over again, increased the speed on my internet, as they asked of me, spoke with several on line tech's . And still the product dose not work
Company states 30 day money back guarantee and free return postage and that credit card would not be charged. Well, they charged my credit card right away, did not provide free shipping back to them and have no customer service number. Scary company.
The magic jack is for phone service through the internet.It keeps dropping calls.I've chatted with customer service several times and have done everything that they said to do and I still have the same problem.One per by the name of Summer just stopped chatting with me when I told her the problem.I fell as if it is a legal scam.

I purchased a 5 year renewal on my magic jack, then purchased a Magic Jack plus. The company refused to move the renewal to my Magic Jack plus, and said I had to purchase an additional renewal-

I had magic jack deduct 31.39 out of my account and leave me with overdraft fees. They have always in the past asked for a renewal correspondance but now they are saying they automatically renew. Customer Service is a farce. You get no where with that. I suggest staying as far away from this smoke screen as possible.
there was an offer for five years with special pricing which we set up they also did a one year renewal which i only wanted the five year they wont reverse the extra charge no one to talk to and i dont think the help people are in the us or any other other English speaking country
ordered magic jack renewell, thought it would better with different phone carrier. verizon, unit does not work, they would not return my money, big ripp off. If ya want to get ripped off try magicjack.
BROKEN error every time the chat gets you know were, i run a small business and i see how there chat works same program i us. The customer support is useless and stupid! i mean i don't use that word often but seriously don't hassle with it! they also wont refund you the money!

Have a Magic Jack...The only thing I hate about it is I signed up for a 330 area code number. I lived in Akron and that was the area code. When I signed up they never said they didnt have any Akron's numbers. My friends and family cant call me local.

i am unable to call local prefixes in my area code, talked to customer service via live chat 3x so far and no resolution yet.
When I place a call, the person on the other end of the phone camplains that they cannot hear everything I say and that the phone gives a distortated signal.
This has only happened during the last few months...what is the problem?
I cannot call certain numbers with any of my magic jacks. I have notified Magic Jack support and they tell me to "be patient, the engineers are aware of this problem". I first notified support March 26, 2011, today, May 5, 2011 the problem still isn't resolved.
I have tried to change the name on my magicjack account so that the name on the account matches the name on my credit card. This would enable me to pay for the service with my credit card. However, I am experiencing great difficulty with accomplishing this task. Please help.

I paid full price for this Magic Jack and paid for speedy delivery. I am out $50. It was stolen when delivered and they told me I was out of luck. I would not get a refund or a replacement. Be forwarned. "Do not buy this product or you will lose your money." The customer service is unbelievably inferior.
I bought a Magic Jack connection and have installed on my computer. I can receive calls on the magic box line but I cannot make any outgoing calls.
When I bought my Magic Jack 6 months ago and connected and set up I realized that they did not have my Area Code available. This is a major problem is a bi state area. Not the AC becomes available and they demand $10 additional. Sounds like a deceptive way to up the cost of the product by 50%.
Scammed on Renewal. When my subscription expired, I went to the website to renew. There were two choices, one year for $19.00, or five years for $69.00. No matter what you select, they will only accept the five year choice. You have no choice.
Magic Jack tech support is difficult to reach and unhelpful, even stupid, when contacted on chat. The damn thing makes our Windows 7 unstable & crashes at bootup. It boots OK when the MJ is unplugged. The FAQs stop at Windows XP and Vista.
The MJ works, but don't count on any effective supoprt.
when I first got the device, they said it's free calls I can make any where in the US and canada and they gave me 1 month free trial. after a month, they said I made too many calls and they cut me off exactly one month later after I paid $33.99 for the device and $19.99 service
Went to register and the software completed w/o assigning number. terminal now will not work and they refused to fix. Now being told extra 10.00 for number. Worst customer service ever. refused to help and assign number without 10.00. Never again with this company.
