Low speed service
Complaint Rating:
Business is Qwest in Minnesota. The company rep told me that their high speed DSL internet service with MSN Premium would work with any version of Windows XP browser. After subscribing to the service nobody in Qwest tech support could get the MSN Premium software to work. I finally got a human at MSN who told me that the Windows XP browser had to have Service Pack 2 software updates installed for MSN Premium to work. Due to my using older software applications that are not compatible with Service Pack 2, I cannot update my Windows XP browser. Neither Qwest's or MSN's web site say anything about Service Pack 2 for Windows XP being required. Further calls to MSN tech support got me a canned statement that it was Qwest's problem and transferred the call to Qwest tech support which apparently has nobody that has knowledge of the MSN Premium software. I will give them credit for getting my e-mail to work after eight tries. Don't even try to get the 7Mb internet service using your own ISP as I tried this and was out of Internet service for nine days before Qwest finally got their mess straightened out. Also be sure to check your new service speed. Mine was running at 2MB until I complained. They sent a service man to come out and check my line, but before he got there the service jumped to 6Mb. Apparently if you don't complain you get slower service. My line was fine. MSN Premium software still doesn't work.
