Lobel Financial - Fraudulent contract

My husband and I went to the dealership to see if we could get a car financed. We had $4500 for a down payment and they put us into a car that I loved. They called me back to return the car because they couldn't get us financed for that car, no big deal. So we didn't see anything that we liked and asked for our deposit back so we could go elsewhere. They...

Lobel Financial Want Out!

I have been Financed through Lobel Financial for not that long. things were o.k at first untill i stoped paying them around 70 additional dollers for Insurance they were providing me, that was not even what the law required. so when i got a ticket for no insurance i stopped sending in the additional 70 dollers with my regular payment.i explained this to one of the reps and i told him no one i ever spoke to explained this to me. as if they did i woulda got my own insurance since day one. i keep records of all my payments and told him as far as i knew i was up to date with my payments. he started calling a few days later saying my car was going to get repoed if i didnt febuarys insurance fee. i told him i had my own insurance to check my Records. he then told me we would figure it out and i had till Monday. well, sunday my car was repoed! i then had to pay all these extra fees and got nothing but very bad Rude customer service! i was calling and calling to make arrangements cause i needed my car for work, and got nothing but the run arround. i was being transfered from one rep to another like i was nobody, i then got soo fusterated and made a comlaint! by this time i hade been on hold for about an hour and a half. i was so upset by the time i got a supposidly "manager" i was crying and so stressed. every single person i talked to was very Rude, and very un professional! i got my car back, but now its like has soon has im a few days late they start calling everyone before they actually call me! they speak to me as if im a child, i know they are collectors and understand that. but they dont need to act the way they do. i am not surprised there are other complains against them. i know now for sure i was right how i felt about them, im glad im not alone. now my car is giving me probloms, on top of that have a payment i need to pay, and im just ready to file bankruptsy because i do not want to deal with them!

Lobel Financial Repo

I have an 36 month contract with lobel. March 2011 is my final payment, they took my car March 26. I called the police and thought it was stolen, but they have that it was repossed. I couldn't get a hold of anyone till Sunday at 5pm. Well Sunday morning came and I got a call from Lobel's collections department. Saying I hadn't made my Feb payment..umm yeah I did I distinctly remember making it, as I was working down the street from the local office! I told the guy (Raul) I can make the payment now, we set it up to be deducted and when he asked "Anything else?" I replied " Yeah where do I get my car?" Raul had no idea my car was taken. How can your collections department not know it was repossed? He advised me to call Monday and have a good day. I ended up calling the customer service line Sunday night at 630pm (they are supposedly open 5pm-9pm) I was holding for 2 1/2 hours with the same message" you are begin transfered to a voicemail box, unfortunately the voicemail box is full, your being transfered to an agent" was all I heard for 2 1/2 hours..where are your reps? This company plays by its own rules, they don't follow proper channels, i worked for a finance company and I know how it works you can't just take a car you need to have at lease 60 days of attempted contact in all form of communication. i am not sure how they stay in business they are an unethical company and should be reported to the BBB and any other organization that will listen and get them to change their ways. Never again will I do business with Lobel I'd rather take the bus!

WARNING TELL EVERYONE DON"T DO BUSINESS WITH LOBEL FINANCIAL. THEY ARE EVIL PEOPLE. The company Lobel Financial takes away your rights as a consumer. They make up lies and continue to twist them, to make it your fault. They feel they are always in the right, and that no one can touch them. They told me that I stole my car after sending a change of address as a P.O.Box as my new address. They said you don't live in a box. I sent a P.O.Box only because of construction work in my apartment. I got moved to another apartment temporiarly. I sent them my insurance information with my physical address using my family member address. They took my car because I live in a P.O.Box. If I did live in a P.O. Box how did you know where my physical address was unless you received my proof of insurance card.
This is an evil company, and not only are they hurting the consumer, they are also ripping off dealers who try to do business with them. I hope someone who can investigate this company and catch them! Bring this corporation down!. They should have no creditability whatsoever for anything that they say or do. Don't let them entice you into believing they are here to help you. They are here to ruin your life.

You may also want to verify that LOBEL FINANCIAL complied with California’s stringent laws concerning the repossession of your vehicle and the subsequent notice you were required to receive. Contact an attorney if you have any questions.
These same post-repossession notices were the subject of a series of class action lawsuits heard in Sacramento Superior Court (LOBEL FINANCIAL Auto Cases, Case No. JCCP 4563). On March 26, 2010, Judge Michael P. Kenny issued preliminary approval of a class action settlement collectively resolving the matters after California consumers Ivon Lara and Jaime Penuela filed separate complaints against LOBEL after LOBEL FINANCIAL sued each of them for a deficiency balance on the repossession of their vehicles.
LOBEL general counsel, Gary Dean Lobel, declared that there were 9, 159 consumers whose outstanding deficiency balances totaled more than $43 million. LOBEL agreed to halt all collection activity on those accounts. LOBEL also agreed to waive the entire $43, 808, 147 in alleged deficiencies and to delete consumer credit reports of LOBEL FINANCIAL trade-lines.

Lobel Financial I had no idea that lobel financial was so awful

I had no idea that lobel financial was so awful. From the time that I brought my car I have ran into some money issues and I have spoken with vast of their reps, I am always 1 month behind last time I paid my car note, I was told that, I could get an extension and after I paid it they told me that they don’t grant extension for hardship after I posted my payment, they call my job even when I tell them that I will be in to pay on my account we make an agreement and they still call, my job is tired of their calls where now they tell them that I was transfer out to a different location so they can stop calling.

Is there anything that can be done. If you ever need a car and have bad credit like I do just go to drive time. I hear they are way better I wished I would of went with them instead of lobel financial.

TheLoveFist II needs to get a life...this company has screwed with my account as well. My husband has served 23 years in the military and now works for the federal government. I have made my payment every month since we purchased our vehicle from them. They are trying to say that we are a month behind when actually we should be a month ahead because we authorized 1 payment to come out of our account and they took 2. They are theives, and they are violating the freedoms that my husband and many other soldiers have fought in many wars to provide their freedoms to them. They actually sent a tow truck to my house right after stealing money from my account and when I talked to the tow truck driver, even he said I should find a new finance company, that they are theives and all the customers are to them are cash cows...it's truly disgusting and I am currently in contact with an attorney that wants to take them for everything they are worth and give all of their consumers justice.

I wish my son would of gone to another finance company, they will not stop calling my son got another cell phone number, will never call them on his cell, they call family members as well, and they make up stories about talking to my ex husband ( I don't have an ex-husband). They are constantly calling and lieing. How do we get these people to stop.

Lobel Financial - illegal repo

I made my payment over the phone on 2/9 with a agent who was very rude. So rude I complained to her manager. I called on 2/25 because the payment had not cleared my account. I spoke to the same manager who I made the complaint with and she told me everything was fine and they had my payment. That following Monday they reposed my car saying they got my...

Lobel Financial past 30 day summons

I have had a similar situation with Lobel. I made payments on time, even paid $40 extra each month. I was originally told my finance payment plan was to last 18months. In no way was that true after all their fees.
In May i was hit by a car while riding my bicycle on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Being a commissioned sales person, and recently injured I notified them of my situation and asked if they could work out some sort of arrangement. The customer service staff was very rude and basically told me to pay what i owed them or I would be in worse shape then being layed up in the hospital. I only had the car for 16months and had so many mechanical issues. After paying for several repairs to keep the car running and by spending time in the hospital i was behind on my payment by 23 days, they repossed my car without any remorse. I again tried to work another arrangement out and they again basically told me to shove it. I got a summons stating I had 30 calendar days to file a response. All because of a bad few months my financial life is ruined now. I have obtained a bankruptcy lawyer to help with this matter. The 30days have passed and I am concerned they are going to garnish my wages or my bank account, can they do this even though i am filing for a BK? Do i need to pull all my money out of my bank ASAP?

bankruptcy will halt all collections on your account. Or atleast it should. I hate these people! I paid all this loan off. I'm done with them. I wish I can take them to small claims or do something. It's not fair. People run into financial hardships all the time. Why is that they are the only ones who are not understanding to the situation? If they repo our car, then how will we get to work to pay the dam loan? Their a bunch of idiots! I don't wish bad on anyone, but I wish Lobel would be investigated by the consumer affairs for bad practiace and work ethics. They are the ones breaking arangements half the time. In my case they did.

I;m so mad again!

Lobel Financial payment agreement

I decided after a couple years of having bad credit that it was time to start to rebuild. I bought a car from a dealer in Banning and I had a large down payment. Lobel accepted my loan and from the very moment I started I had a perfect payment history with them. I do have to say they did try the insurance thing with me too but I faxed my info over and then that was fixed. I had some difficulty with my payment that was due on Christmas 2010. I sent in the payment but the check had bounced. I called and made an agreement with Rita as soon as I received the letter and she said she noted the account. I made the payment as well as the one that became due, my car was repossessed anyway. I just got off the phone with them and proved to them I had made the payments and they are informing me that I have to pay an extra 361 dollars for repo fees before they will give me the info to pick up my car. They told me that anything that was noted on my account by Rita didn't matter and that her manager Celeste can do what she wants. My suggestion to anyone is DO NOT FINANCE ANYTHING WITH THIS COMPANY! They do dirty business. Everything that people have posted is turning out to be true. I Pray that they will be stopped.

Fyi a note is not a secured arrangement! I was explained that it's noted on account but not secured, means the account remains subject to further collections including possible repossession. Make your payments on time remember the grace period is for no late fee and if made even one day past your account will accrue additional interest if it's simple interest, just like other finance companies. If you don't there is consequences just like not paying your phone bill it's disconnected just saying the company isn't bad it's giving all of us a second chance and opportunity to rebuild our credit. Let's face we aren't the best customers that's why we are financed with lobel make your payments on time and you won't have to deal with the collections or repossession department. Just saying and mske sure to read your contract the fine print.

I reported Lobel just today for their shady behavior. I have never been late on a payment. But I'm constantly told that I don't have proof of insurance coverage. My insurance company and myself have sent them proof of insurance over and over again and they still tacked on extra for their so called insurance coverage. I reported them to the BBB and the California secretary of state. I just decided that I have had enough of wasting my time calling them and refaxing insurance proof. My insurance company has had enough too.

I have been through the same things all of these people are saying. I had a very rude person named Melissa tell me today that because my car was taken on Saturday which was only one day past the day of supposed agreed date to pay$100.00 left owing on my monthly payment she had the power to decide whether or not they would continue my loan through them...The reason she said that was because she did not like my "tone" or" attitude" please tell me what kind of attitude am I supposed to have after my car has been taken for $100.00? This company is very shady in their business practices. I would suggest to anyone wanting a car make sure it is not this company, they have already had an class action suit against them in California that they lost. It blows me away me that after that they would continue these practices.
I am disabled with 3 children at home and need to be able to get to Doctors appointments. If they will do that to me they will do it to everyone...

Lobel Financial Illegal Repossesion

I purchased a car, and was assigned to Lebel Financial. I started making payments, and would always send an extra$50 on my bill. As time passed, we ran into a financial bind, and we were behind 1 payment. I call the customer service dept, and they were willing to allow me to catch up. I still made my monthly payment on time, and would send the extra $50 to offset the payment I was behind. I call them on Tues to ask for my balance, which is $1000. I told them I would call them back next week to make a payment over the phone, as I always did. My husband and I were going to decide to pay off the loan, or just send$500. Now, I still have time to make my regular monthly payment ($274 per month due on the 14th of the month). So when I called it was the 11th. Anyway, tell me why the repo man came to my house on Sunday at 1:30 am to take my car? I'm so mad! The girls that work in the office are very rude and insensitive. They told me o'well, thats what happens when you don't pay your bill. Are they serious?! They wouldn't even let me please my case. They basically took my car for being behind 1 payment of$250. Now I have to pay all these fees. Do they really need my little $300 in repo fees? I feel my car should not of been repossed. There shady, and very very rude! plus, you have to leave a voicemail to speak to a manager!

Dirty business indeed. I went through the same thing. I made calls to them and told them on a monday, and told them I had planned to pay off my car and asked for my balance. My balance was only $1000, so I told the rep I would call them next week with a payment. Well they called, Wed, THurs, and on Fri, entered a repo order, and picked up my car on Sunday @ 1:30 am. They claim to of left me messages, which they never did! If they had, I would of called them immediately. I filed a complaint with the better business bureau. I'd suggest you do the same. If you look and see all the history online, they recently had a class action suit againts them. I'm looking for info to possibly get involved or get another one going. I was able to pay off my car like I told them I would, and had to pay an additional $480 in repo fees. You need to fight this. They can not continue to operate and scam people. Garey Lobel contacted me, and told me hisself, that he didn't see why my car was repoed, but yet, denied my request to have my fees reimbursed. This place claims to help people with bad or no credit. They just made it worse by marking our credit with a repo.

I spoke to the same manager who I made the complaint with and she told me everything was fine and they had my payment. That following Monday they reposed my car saying they got my payment back. Apparently they tried to take the payment from a old account. The fact that I called them Friday them and said there was a problem because it hadn't cleared yet wasn't good enough and didn't send up any flags to anyone. No one thought to check the account they didn't call me on monday instead they just picked up my car? So the money is sitting in my account and now they have my car. If I wasn't trying to pay them I would be really upset but I have the money I was trying to make my payment.

If you want to get your car back today, file bankruptcy. You'll have it back tomorrow.
If it's unlawful repossession make sure that you call the licensing office for repo companies in your state if there are any.

Find out what your states laws for repo'ing a car after a payemnt has been made, how many days, or months after..
Then call a lawyer if you find that there are any violations of the law.

Lobel Financial - illegal reposession of my car

I was given Lobel Financial through a dealership I had used before and previously had small problems with but trusted them with their loan department. I was in a car accident December 15th where another vehicle crashed into me and ruined my car. Lobel Financial repossesed my car and I didn't know why, went to the office and they didn't know anything about it that's what they said, then I try calling and get directed to 7 different people which 4 of them sounded like the same lady. No one could answer my questions or tell me where my car was, I found out they say I owe $146 I went and paid 230 they told me I have to pay 557 dollars and then pay for repo fees, police fees, then late fees which added up to over 1500 dollars, I get a print out of my financial papers and its not the same as mine, they said my 2017 down payment doesn't go toward my car... wth the auto time dealer is taking peoples money and they are working with lobel financial, is there anyone doing a class action lawsuit? I would like to get to the bottom of these crooks. I can go on and on but we the victims need to get together get a plan going to stop this.

Immodest you are an idiot.

This company is fraudulent and is going to pay for it. I pay ALL my bills including my first payment with this so-called company, only having them 1 month, they took my car from being under my INSURANCE FROM AN ACCIDENT, the adjuster getting damage amounts, AGAIN FROM THE LOCATION MY INSURANCE HAD IT AT, not even 5 weeks into my loan with them, stating non payment, HOWEVER, I paid and luckily have all the payment and Lobel Financial info I needed to pursue this legally, not everyone is as lucky. This is supposed to be a forum for serious complaints and responses, you need to be on My Space or somewhere where you do not need to have a brain or be educated on what these are for. They are not for your stupidity or foolish responses to someone who is having serious issues with a company. GROW UP.

Lobel Financial They TOOK MY CAR

My husband had a car loan with Lobel Finacial, He is in the military so his payments are taken out automatically as an allotment. the loan was around $270 once a month, the first issue started when they charged him twice a month. we figured screw it, its just going to help us pay it off faster we wont fight it. Now they have Crossed the line, I was in a minor accident here in Arizona and because I did not have my license on me my car was impounded due to the very strict laws in Arizona. My car was in for a minimum 30 day impoundment, it made life hell but we had to deal with it. as it was comming closer to the 30 days I called to see how much the fees where to get the car out, I was informed that my car had been taken off the lot my Lobel Finacial 8 days after impoundment. We where never notified, when I called to find my car I was told it was repossed. we have never missed a payment and they are still taking payments out of our account! No one knows where my car is now and they will give me no answers or calls back! DO NOT GO THROUGH LOBEL FINACIAL, THEY DO NOT RUN A GOOD AND HONEST LOAN COMPANY AND TREAT THERE CLIENTS LIKE CRAP, NEVER ANY CALL BACKS AND VERY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS!

Lobel Financial Deceiving practices

Lobel Financial: Yes I like thousands of Americans had lost my house in 2008 therefore I don't have a good credit, I had a car that I was expending so much money in repairs so, in a desesperate effort and with all the capital I had at the moment I bought a car and the credit company that provide the Loan was Lobel Financial. Just this week I call just to make sure that they received my payment, which has been on time every month since I bought my car and not only have I sent extra a little bit more every month to try to pay my car as soon as possible. Well I call and ask how much is my balance and a "Smart" representative told me that I own over $2000 more that what I was informed according with documents Lobel Financial has sent me at the moment I received the loan documents. He told me "you are not expecting to have a loan and don't pay anything for the money you received?" I answer to his smart comment, it is not about only about the money, I want to know how much I am paying for- I believed is my right to know and don't you think so?, so I requests the loan documents with this detail also an estament, showing how my payments has been apply and my remain balance, suddenly this is a major issue, and I have to call accounting, well I ask transfer me, he provide the same phone number and an extension number, I ask him one more time can I be just transfer, he said I will try, surly enough my call was drop. Well I call back and after I talk to 5 representative I finally talk with accounting, I simply request the documents one should be the terms of the loan, I want to see interest I am paying and how much and an estament of my ON TIME PAYMENTS, this person said no problem will you received in the next 5 to 7 days. 20 min later someone that did not identify only as a Lobel Financial, told me that this can't be possible, I ask him why is so difficult for Lobel Financial to do this so simple mail, and another "Smart answer" He told me that the dealer should gave me that information, I try to talk to him on that smart point ( that between you and me MAKE NO SENSE) and in his "smart" way to avoid the point he didn't let me talk at all and he told me do you want this docs or not, well you need to requested on writing, I told him -You call me, and you are no letting me talk, you don't want to listen to me, when are you ready to provide customer service, call me back, today 7/23/2010 I will call again and try to get this documents, which I don't understand Why is such a big deal to provide this information to their customers, and just in case any person in Lobel is reading this, I DID NOT RECEIVED ON THE FIRST PLACE THE DOCUMENTS I RECEIVED DOESNT SAY THE REAL AMOUNT I AM SCHEDULE TO PAY, HOW MUCH IS MY INTEREST EITHER, only said how much was the principal balance and the time. I believed we need to know, it should be in your practice to facilitate this information with no problems from the start if I had this information I wouldn’t have to call you and go thru all this unpleasant time on the phone fill up with 'SMART' comments from your unprepared agents and please get a nice long and extensive class of CUSTOMER SERVICE, you really need it. And every one else which me good luck it look that I am going to need it with this company, and if you about to get a car with Lobel Financial, it look is going to be a lot of problems allthough you are paying ON TIME.

At the car dealership I provided all documents requested got a courteous call from Lobel on the same day.
Today, which is a week after;
I got a call from an underwriter named ALMA @[protected] who was rude and condescending and stated she didn't receive those
documents, perfect solution, I would think would to be able to have me fax her those same requested documents myself. No matter a solution she was constantly speaking to me horribly, I finally said I wanted to speak to someone else who isn't so "mean and condescending" and she stated that "I could not, only her, she is the underwriter and she will make the final call".
Wow, what happened to customer service, Im certainly able to keep up my end. I chose this company LOBEL because I used them successfully before and thought Id use them this time rather than someone new. Now I guess I will call the dealership to find someone else when they were already in the works all because of one rude underwriter who says I can't talk to anyone else but HER! I guess one person can ruin it for all the other nice employees I spoke to previously. (one bad apple ruins the bunch)

I have never been late and have never lapsed on my car insurance. They've tacked on their insurance fees even though my insurance company and myself have sent in proof of insurance over and over again. Today, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the California secretary of state.

Lobel Financial Harassment

Attorney General Brown Forces Lobel Financial to Stop Harassing and Intimidating Borrowers

Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. today forced Lobel Financial, a sub-prime auto lender, to stop its "illegal campaign of harassment and intimidation" against borrowers behind in their bills.

"This company charged its customers exorbitant interest rates for car loans and then waged an illegal campaign of harassment and intimidation when they couldn't pay up, " Attorney General Brown said. "Now Lobel must stop its abusive tactics and comply with the law."

Lobel Financial is headquartered in Anaheim, Calif. but makes loans to customers in Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, the Bay Area, the Central Valley, and other areas of the state.

Lobel provides financing to people with poor credit who purchase vehicles through used-car dealerships. The typical interest rate of their loans is between 21-23 percent. Lobel performed its own debt collection efforts when consumers failed to make the required payments.

In 2007, the California Attorney General's Office initiated an investigation into Lobel's debt collection practices. The investigation found that Lobel frequently violated California's Fair Debt Collection Act by:

- Calling its customers repeatedly and allowing the phone to ring continuously;

- Calling a customer's employer and family members; and

- Using a false name when calling.

Additionally, the company used more sophisticated "pre-texting" tactics to obtain confidential information of their customers.

For instance, Lobel deceived ATT Wireless into providing confidential telecommunications records of at least 190 California ATT customers.

Lobel also used a calling card scam to con consumers into providing their calling information. Lobel had a third-party vendor send the customer a "free" phone card; the company would then obtain information about the calls made by the customer using the calling card.

Hundreds of California consumers across the State were victimized by Lobel's constant harassment and illegal debt collection activities.

Lobel Financial will pay $150, 000 in civil penalties and $100, 000 to the State for attorneys' fees and costs.

Lobel Financial - Rip off

I had bought my car back in January of this year. My first payment was due in February. I havnt had any problems making my payment till last month. Which was July, I had a family emergency and had to leave out of state for a month. I was not able to make my payment. Now I'm back at work and Ive told Lobel that I will be able to pay them just as soon as I...
