LiveCareer fraudulent charges

HIghly unprofessional business practices. They take money out of customer bank accounts or apply unauthorized charges to credit card. They then try to get away with it by telling people to read the fine print. Yet, if this was a legit business why even try to hide any language. Legitimate disclose all practices upfront. Suspected scam, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

LiveCareer - they withdrew 34.95 from my checking account

Did a resume for my wife like others said ended up paying for it! Then the real shocker, they withdrew 34.95 from my checking account and it said it was recurring. I called them immediately they supposedly canceled my account but not giving my money back. This company is a rip-off. Wished I would of found this site and the reviews before I got messed up with them!

LiveCareer same problem as everyone else

Same problem as everyone else. I didn't mind paying the $4.95 to download my resume that I created. What I didn't realize is that I signed up for an additional service that I needed to call them for to cancel - which was $34.95 per month. I would have never signed up for this because I only needed a one time download. I didn't notice the charge until my second credit card billing statement - which by then I was already out for 3 months worth of charges.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB and have disputed the charges with my credit card company. We'll see what happens. I tried calling up livecareer and explained the situation, but they weren't willing to work with me.

Don't use them!

LiveCareer this site pissed me off

So i typed up my whole resume, great site with a lot of tools to easily create your dream resume. I was under the impression it was free, so spent an hour or so making it. found it it was not free. was extremely pissed.
GOOD NEWS
found a work around to it after completing the resume, just go to the preview resume tab, while in that tab hit the button print screen on your keyboard. paste this into paint, crop and there you have it, a fix to this websites scam!

LiveCareer the livecareer website should probably be shut down completely

LiveCareer.com is a website offering services to people to construct their resume. I used this service in September, 2012 to write a new resume for my wife and paid a $4.95 fee to utilize the various resume templates they displayed. In the fine print, it was stated that I had access to the resume information for 7 days along with the fee I paid. What I did not realize, if I did not cancel within 7 days, a monthly fee would be charged to my account. I had paid the basic fee using my debt card bank account so they had my financial information. Without my knowledge nor my consent, they started making monthly withdrawals of $34.95. This continued for almost 3 months until I discovered that these monthly withdrawals were being made. I called LiveCareer.com on November 23, 2011, and got their billing department, located in the Philippines and talked with the person there, who was somewhat challenged using the English language. They immediately agreed to cancel the upcoming November payment. After all, they have a money back policy. I was quite upset with the operator I was talking to so I asked to speak to the supervisor. The supervisor reminded me that I had agreed to allow these ongoing monthly charges and I assured him that had I realized that I was subject to these charges I would not have used the website. I asked him to refund the other 2 months (Sept & Oct) payments that had already been withdrawn. He said that he did not have the authority to do so and that he would have to email the headquarters in San Francisco for authorization. He said, give me a couple of days. The company did credit my bank account for the November payment. However, nothing happened about the previous 2 payments. While talking to the supervisor, he gave me an address for the headquarters in San Francisco along with a couple of phone number he thought might connect me to that office. However, he said that he had no way to directly contact this office by phone ... only by email. I thought that was quite unusual that he had not direct contact with headquarters. A week later, I called both numbers and was again connected to their office in the Philippines. Next I went online to look up their headquarters address in the San Francisco yellow pages. No such company was listed. However, when I used the online map, when I entered the office address in CA it was redirected to an address on Madison Ave in New York City. There was a phone number listed for that location and when I called it, I was again connected with the office in the Philippines. I was eventually connected to the same supervisor in that office. I asked why can't I talk to the offices located in the USA and he informed me that they were a world-wide company with offices located in several countries. They have over 10 million customers world-wide. I think it is highly unusual that a company with millions of customers and offices in two major US cities does not have a listed phone number here in the USA. I also have concluded that his company "traps" it customers with additional and unnecessary fees that are charged month after month without providing any services to their customers. I consider myself to be very careful with my purchases on the internet and feel like that I have become of victim of a very organized "scam." However, I am a very persistant person and I don't tolerate it when someone attempts to "con" me. Probably most people would not take the time to investigate a situation like this one. Most people would be satisfied with getting a refund for 1 monthly fee and consider the other monthly fees to be the cost of learning a lesson the hard way. If Livecareer, Inc really has 10 million customers, and if each of these customers gets $34.95 "stolen" from their bank account each month, it will equal $349.5 million each month. Whoever got this "scam" going is making a bundle at our expense. The Livecareer website should probably be shut down completely. At least, they should be forced to remove the "automatic" monthly billing feature from the same box on their website where a customer makes a selection for using their service for a one-time purchase. They clearly have designed it so that the average person will be deceived into agreeing to allowing them to make monthly withdrawals from your bank account. This is another warning ... buyer beware.

LiveCareer I wasted hours putting together my resume using this service

I wasted hours putting together my resume using this service. The online viewer was deceptive - as many people here claim, what looks like a one-page resume, after you pay to download and print it out, it's many pages long. Plus, the 7-day access I paid for came with a hidden monthly subscription to their service so I got slammed with another $34.95 a week later. LiveCareer only offered to refund part of it so I filed a claim with my bank (Wells Fargo) and they are refusing to do anything about it. What a hassle!

LiveCareer don't use this service

They make it appear like you will be getting a resume for $4.95 (which by the way is Highway Robbery)! Who in the world would subscribe to a resume service and pay $34.95 per month?!?

However, when you click to purchase you "$4.95" resume you are actually subscribing to their ridiculous resume service. If someone is looking for a job, they obviously would not want to subscribe to a service like this.

When you discover the $34.95 charge on your credit card statement with their number [protected]), you can cancel the service. However, they will still charge you a pro-rated amount. I discovered it fairly quickly. So, I was only charged $10.

But still, this company is the ### of the www using predatory techniques on a segment of the population that is struggling. Download Libre office and use something from their office suite to make your resume. Or download a resume template from Microsoft.com. But don't use this service!

After cancelling the subscription that is clearly not understood by most people, I had checked my bank statement and found that this 'company' had charged me a further 3 times.i contacted customer service explained that I wanted the unauthorised funds returned to my email with all the evidence of the cancellation number with the original email and photos of the bank statement funds showing the funds that were taken.I have had to explain this over several months to the same people as they give a run down of the 14 day subscription policy and I am not entitled to refund! I have repeaetedly explained that I am not asking for those payments refunded, the payments that were taken out AFTER I HAD CANCELLED.this is obviously a scam, if not the worst business practice and ethics I have ever come across!

I just looked at my credit card statement on a credit card that I just paid off and haven't used in a while and noticed a charge from them for $39.80. Well after going back through my statements this has been going on for 9 months now 9 months of charges that were not authorized $358.20 worth. I just emailed them that I want this refunded to my credit card and I will be contacting my credit card company and hopefully something will be done. I am outraged right now that a company would do this. If I wouldn't have paid my reddit card off who knows how long this would have continued. I want my $358.20 back.

I used this service once and was cancelled immediately. They continue to bill me which I did not realize and I have been billed for $39.80 each month. Now I am trying to work with customer service to get this issue resolved and also mastercard. They say they do not have record of my cancellation. What a scam!

I used this site for my first ever resume and got the job because of it. I didn't realize that the charge was signing me up for a subscription, but upon further reading, they do clearly state that in their email receipt. That being said: Use this service, I thought they did a fantastic job, but make sure you cancel your subscription immediately after purchasing your resume. I only paid $1.95 and ended up being charged $40, but that's because I didn't follow the instructions that were clearly stated in the email. If you call the company and ask for your money back, you won't get a full refund which is frustrating (since I only used their service once), but they will refund you about 3/4 of the money.
Just use this as a learning experience for anyone who is angry to read through things more carefully to avoid things like this in the future, but I would recommend their surface to anyone as long as they cancel their subscription within 14 DAYS of the original purchase!

LiveCareer scammed my money too. Since I am come from Malaysia. Currently my country is having currency crisis and I have lack of money. Malaysia Ringgit was dropped from RM3.20/usd to RM4.30/usd. It is a very expensive amount for me, since my salary is not high enough in this country. I have to pay more and more money for this unknown amount. I was felt curious why did my credit card statement is keep appearing "LiveCareer". This LiveCareer is really a scammer, they automatic subscribe my credit card without my approval. Last time I use their service to create a resume just because I want to look for a job. However, actually I just use their service for few days only. I was just paid for their service for one month only. However, they automatic subscribe to my credit card. I have to pay this unknown amount for every month.

I had been taken over $300 since my first purchase in March. and I jsut notice.

Agent's explanation:LiveCareer's continuous billing feature is stated on the Subscription Options page where you select your purchase, Payment Confirmation page, as well as on the Payment Confirmation email that is sent when you first subscribe.

But I didn't receive any fromal agreement or notice. Taking advantage of our deficit of knowledge for profits, if this is not fraud, what it would be?!

This company is such a scam. If you are going to charge people to renew their service, you need to tell them right away. It's bs that you are charging for them to make a resume and get a job, then once they do, you are taking their money. You are charging almost $40 twice a month. This is unbelievable and I will make sure you will be reported. You have cheated my boyfriend out of hundreds of dollars and when I called to ask about it I get put on hold for almost 10 mins. I went in and cancelled his account after seeing reviews about people still being charged after changing bank information. I can tell you that when you go in and cancel the account when you aren't even the name holder of the account, that's not legal and this is a scam. End of story. Never use this service.

I have had exactly the same experience! I used the website to download one resume and then didnt use it any further. Now have charges totalling over $150 AUD on my card. I contacted Live Career who basically said "too bad.. you shouldve read the fine print". I highlighted to them that when you register, a pop up screen comes up telling you that you can use all the free services and can create an unlimited amount of resumes and cover letters (amongst other things). They responded - "where did it tell you that you could download them for free?" So the point is that you can use it to create unlimited resumes - but you cant use them! I persisted and eventually got refunded for 2 of the 3 months. But when I told them that I had read the multiple complaints here they quite rudely said "why do you have time to read a blog about us, but you didnt have time to read the fine print"!

We have been charged $52 aus for the past 10 months from this 'service' and have been unable to log in with any email or have any luck with our bank. Someone said to google the transaction and we have noticed all of these complaints with similar issues! I am shocked, I did use a resume builder but there was no option to cancel any so called subscription. I have received not one email from live career and have tried logging into there website but it says that my email isn't in there system. This is fraud and I can't believe you can get away with it. I have been treated as a fool and have been scammed out of $500! Can someone please help me on how I get this stopped, or even better have it refunded? Please help.

LiveCareer charges you $34.95 if you do not contact them to cancel your account

Even though it says that it is $4.95 for 7 days. Make sure you keep reading because it automatically charges you $34.95 if you do not contact them to cancel your account. I used it that 1 day and the service was not even helpful and then had to pay $34.95 for something I did not end up using at all.

LiveCareer - cancelation

Dear vjackson, Hi, i work at livecareer. I apologize if you were not able to get hold of someone when you called. The $4. 95 subscription is good for 7 days and we rely on you to cancel whenever you are finished. If you do not cancel we will assume that you are still using our service. Many of our customers continue to use our service for several month...

LiveCareer stay away from this terrible site

Do not use this site! I had to do a last minute resume and this site popped up when I typed in free resume maker. I spent awhile making the resume and at the end you have to pay a $5 free to be able to download it. I was in a rush so I paid the fee and downloaded the resume... And it sucked! It looks terrible and in no way usable. On top of that after a week if you don't cancel your account they will charge you a $35 fee... I immediately canceled and demanded a refund, but they only gave me back a "prorated" $27... That means I paid about $10 for an unusable and crappy resume. Stay away from this terrible site! I will dispute with my credit card company to get the rest of my money back!

Every other company that I have a subscription with will send an email before charging your card: Amazon, The Honest Company, Birchbox, etc. I can't believe this business is so dirty and unprofessional to charge for a download and then sneak in a subscription fee that the consumer is just supposed to remember to subscribe! And it sounds like some people have trouble with cancelling their subscription and getting charged anyways. I asked for a refund, but if they do not send one, I am going to call my bank and see if I can get a refund there.

The automatically withdrawal after 14 days trial is not clearly stated on the term page. They kept going back and forth about "it is written all over the webpage and clearly stated". No, it is not. I never agree and allow them to automatically withdraw from my credit card and never agree to pay the $40.00/month. I only agree on the 14 days trial to learn about their products. If no radio button that says "You authorize us to automatically withdraw from your visa/mastercard if not cancel within 14 days", it is illegal.

Highly unprofessional company. Very poor communication, ambigious terminology on Web site and, from other comments across the Web and Better Business Bureau, apparent fraudelnt activities regarding recurring charges to customer credit cards. DO NOT USE this company. Better idea: borrow a resume writing guide from the library.

If Live Career was a honest business, they would not have to trick you into if you dont cancel in 7 days you will automatically be enrolled into there 34.95 a month service.
If you wanted that service, they should have it available seperatly to sign up for.

LiveCareer this was an awful experience

I needed a last minute resume for a class assignment so I googled 'resume templates' and found livecarer. It looked legit so I spent a good 30 minutes putting in my information. Nowhere does it say that you will have to pay to use the template! Then they make you create an account, and after you've done that they say that you have to pay $4.95 for a seven day trial, but somewhere in the terms and conditions there is a provision that if you don't cancel they will start to charge you $34.95 a month! Who in the h#$% changes jobs so much they need a website to hang onto their resume for frequent updating?! This is definitely a scam model. I called two days after they charged me the $34.95 to find out what was happening, told them to cancel my account and give me a refund, but they wouldn't give me the full amount and said that the refund amount was prorated because of the two days I had. I told them I would write an honestly negative review if I didn't get all of my money back and they hung up on me. We'll see if I actually get a partial refund. Either way, this was an awful experience. Stay away!

LiveCareer they don't care about customer service

Do not use this site! I had a billing issue with them. I called and talk a man named rj. He was very rude. He keep laughing at me and hung up on me. I called back and rj was the one who answered my call again. I asked to speak to he supervisor... Once again he laughed at me. When speaking with his supervisor, the gentleman said that I was the one that ended the call. He didn't even listen to the call. Bad supervisor. Do not use this site! They don't care about customer service. They did refund my money and was asked not to use their site again. Like I said great customer service.

I used the service to build my CV. I know longer need my account and want to cancel. This is not easy in any shape or form. The company have taken two payments of £26.00 in the past three weeks. I do not have a lot of money as I have only just started working. I visited my bank yesterday to ask if they could assist me in stopping live career taking anymore money. They are now in the process of doing this for me.Its been a worrying experience and I have been left feeling violated.

I used the "introductory offer for a 7 day trial to format an old resume. Once the resume was changed, I called and cancelled the subscription just like the fine print directed. 7 days after the 1st charge of 4.95 was taken out, 2 additional charges of 34.95 were automatically taken from my account. So a total of 74.85 has been taken out of my account to date so far for this account that was canceled hours after I used it. BUYER BEWARE!

I hate, hate, hate, how companies do the bait and switch on people. They tell you that it will cost you only $4.95 for 7 days of use and the next thing you know your bank account is dinged for $34.95! If you would put THAT in bold print before the $4.95 sales pitch, you at LiveCareer.com would not be getting such ugly reviews.

LiveCareer not sure how they keep good rating

I thought I was purchasing the $4.95 7 day trial version of the resume template... I experienced some formatting issues but wasn't too concerned for $4.95. I also converted the template to word for ease of modification. But I was charged 34.95 in June and then 34.95 again in July, both charges included an additional $1.04 foreign transaction fee...The deception is a significant concern, since the website comes up first on the list when googled...they also have an A rating with the BBB--not sure how they keep that rating. I will discuss with my Visa rep how to block future transactions, and may have to converse with the fraud department in order negate the additional payments. From other comments on your website, it apprears that several people have experienced the identical scenario. The BBB website indicates they have received 12 complaints in the last 6 months. Most of which are Billing related.I will contact them as well.
