LiveCareer very disappointed with livecareer

Hello. I used LiveCareer in the past and was very satisfied with this service. Everything was fine, I received proper service and enjoyed my time on LiveCareer. Problems began when I cancelled my account. I contacted LiveCareer customer service and their rep said that my account was successfully cancelled, but next month I got charged! They took $35 from me as if I still was their user. Contacted them and found out that it was actually true, for some reason my account was not deleted even thought month ago their rep said the exact opposite thing. Very disappointed with LiveCareer.

LiveCareer unauthorised charges to my credit card

Good day

On August 20, I paid an amount of R13.11 for a 15 day subscription. On the same day another amount of R13.11 was deducted from my credit card. On September 10, an amount of R370 was deducted and I sent an email on the same day enquiring what it was for. I was informed by someone in Customer care that even though I had signed up for 14 days, if I do not cancel subscription it automatically goes into monthly billing. I have never in my life heard of such nonsense. My contract, which is legally binding is for the 14 days.
I will quote a portion of the response "After 14 days the account rolled into a monthly subscription that cost $24.95 USD.

Please be reminded that all of our subscriptions are auto-renewing. We have a continuous billing feature which charges your account after the 14-day period and every month afterward unless you choose to cancel your subscription beforehand. Since there was no cancellation request sent before the end of the initial period, your account rolled into a monthly subscription." This is highly illegal and an absolute rip off. I have sent another email requesting that the last deduction be refunded, but am still awaiting feedback.

The watered down response from the customer care consultant skirted around the issue and did not address my concern. I can imagine the amount of money this company is making from unsuspecting people. Their website does not indicate how the payment schedule work, of course as they would be exposed and no-one will sign up. No transparency and false advertising. I will attach both emails and the invoice which only only shows the order amount of R1, 95 (which equates to R13.11) where the other R13.11 and R370 comes from is beyond me.

I would like this company to refund my money immediately.

Could you please indicate where on your website you indicate that your subscriptions are auto-renewing if I signed up for 14 day subscription? This does not make sense if I only signed up for 14 days and now I am out of pocket over R340.

Hi Leone Arendse,
Thank you for contacting MyPerfectResume Customer Care.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Our records show that you purchased our 14-day subscription on August 20th, 2016.

The subscription that you have chosen was only good for 14 days. This allowed you to download, email and print the resume that you have created. After 14 days the account rolled into a monthly subscription that cost $24.95 USD.

Please be reminded that all of our subscriptions are auto-renewing. We have a continuous billing feature which charges your account after the 14-day period and every month afterward unless you choose to cancel your subscription beforehand. Since there was no cancellation request sent before the end of the initial period, your account rolled into a monthly subscription.

Our records show that you have already cancelled your subscription. Rest assured that you will not be billed again. Your subscription is set to expire on October 1st, 2016. Your cancellation number is: [protected]. Please take note of this number for future reference.

I agree with this complaint! I had the same thing happen to me! If there was a statement about automatic payments, I certainly didn't see it.
Unfortunately, this is a common thing with a lot of companies. I think it is completely unfair and should be illegal to have the print so small that you can't see it!

LiveCareer this is fraud

I used the service to write a quick resume. I then canceled it right away; so, I should have only been billed the $4.95; I just noticed 2 charges on my PayPal account; one for $19.95 and another for $20.15. So I immediately went to the Live Career web site and signed in to see what the heck was going on. It appeared my account was still active; so, I went through the process of canceling it only to be told that it was already canceled or set to expire. So why was I charged this ridiculous rate? What the heck kind of crap is this? I'm calling PayPal in the morning to dispute the transaction. I better not be billed again. This is total BS! This is fraud!

LiveCareer scam - charged my credit card for a resume I never purchased & a subscription I have never heard of!

I haven't used my credit card in months so I didn't pay much mind to look at my statements. This was clearly a mistake because little did I notice this company has been charging me for months. The odd part is I never signed up for this service! I would never pay for a resume service (Or even a resume) especially when my university offers a better one for free. Luckily I can still file a dispute and am doing first thing in the morning. I went through my browser history and I did visit this site once at the time the charges started but according to my history, I looked at the page, clicked one link and then went back to my google search. I had no clue what this site was yet they've been billing me for months! Upon realizing this I have removed my saved credit card information from safari and my computer! It's no coincidence that this was the only credit card I had saved onto my computer/browser and the reoccurring payments stopped once they maxed my credit card out. Just a heads up to anyone who wants help writing a resume... You can screenshot the resume and just rewrite it if you're that desperate to use this site. There are plenty of sites that offer free templates if you're looking for a professional resume template. All you need to do is dl the template & rewrite whatever you have picked from this site. After I noticed this reoccurring charge I checked the site out and I assure you there are way better sites that offer free advice. Universities often have online pdf resume writing files with phrases, keywords, sample resumes, and advise for specific career fields. You do not need to pay for a site. You will not benefit from using a resume from this site if the employer is using an applicant tracking system. I believe the statistic for employers who use an ats to scan resumes is at something crazy high like 80% of all employers use one.

LiveCareer dishonest company

I decided to use LiveCareer service because they had free templates and I spent hours making my perfect cover letter. When I finished it I wanted to print it out but the site stated that I need to pay for it! There was no where mentioned that templates were not free! The price was rather cheap so I paid. But still I do not recommend this company because in my opinion they are very dishonest and hiding information is not a good thing.

LiveCareer subscription

The reps replying to these comments continue to claim that it is clearly stated that you will automatically be charged nearly 40 dollars if you do not cancel and yet look how many people are taken by surprise. This is deceptive.
I made an attempt to cancel my subscription before I was charged 40 dollars. I believe what I did was deactivate my account instead of actually unsubscribing like I thought I had. The customer service rep I spoke to on the phone just mumbled the whole time and was useless. I have had a ticket submitted for a refund but I know they will not do anything. If I am not given at least a partial refund I intend to continue leaving my honest review of this site anywhere I can and I will advise the Career Services department I work with to never recommend this site to anyone. In fact, they should advise against it.
What this site does is technically give you the minimal fair warning in order to cover their a**es but purposefully sets it up so that we will all fall into the trap of being charged without realizing it. It's very unprofessional and frankly it's a scam.

I would also like to say to the rep who has been commenting who is either named Katrina or Anna but you can't tell because there seems to be two different names associated: it was said to another customer "and we send payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal." At least in my case, this is a lie. I never received a single email informing of the auto renewal or any charges. I have taken a screen shot of that response and claim to keep on file to use in conjunction with evidence that I never received any such email.

I totally agree. I new that there would be a minimum charge after 30 days, not $ 35.80 after 1 week. I now can't find my resume, only the cover letter.
Very disappointed in customer service as well. Live Chat and email with no response yet.

LiveCareer they robbed me!

I joined www.livecareer.com and made a resume but was not able to use because there was something wrong with the format. So I went to another site and successfully made a resume there. I completely forgot about LiveCareer! But then I noticed that they charged me and took $40! They automatically signed me up and started to take monthly payments. When I joined the site I signed up for a 14 day free trial! That is totally unprofessional! Sent them an email and received no answer.

LiveCareer scam site

This site is nothing but scam! I paid some money and made my first resume. It was said on their website that all my resumes were available on the site and it was nowhere told that I had only 14 days access! Two weeks later I decided to make some changes, but it was impossible! And then they started charging me! When I contacted customer service they said that I have signed up and become a member. What? I never wanted to sign up and I never wanted to pay anything! They promised me a refund, but several days later I received a message stating my refund was rejected! LiveCareer is a Scam!

LiveCareer unauthorized credit card charge for over 14 months

I used live Career for resume builder in Dec.2014 for 99 Cent.
Over a year's time, Live career charged my credit card of 39.8 USD every month without sending me any invoice or getting any of my persimmon.
Not until Jan.2016 did i just found out this problem, then i contacted their team by phone, email and left message to inform them to cancel charging my card. However, they still charged me in Feb.2016.

After rounds of emails, they only agree to send one month refund back to my credit card 39.8 USD, however, i have not received any money yet.

This is totally a cheating scheme.

I Request to refund all my money back from Dec. 2014 till Feb.2016.
The total of 557.2 USD.

I've been dealing with this for a month, my patience is running out!

I'm going to report to the Fraud department for livecareer cheating customer!

LiveCareer unreasonably high monthly charge and no refund if you don't cancel

Their sight advertises free trial, which is not true. I had to sign up for monthly billing when I want to print my first trial resume. I never used their service after the trial, because their resume templates are not outstanding. When I had time and remembered to cancel "my subscription", the company did not refund the $39 monthly fees. Unfortunately I learned the hard way to stay on top of things and read the small print. They are thieves.

LiveCareer resume building service

This is what I have been dealing with for the past day. I cancelled the initial trial and this did not get reflected in my account. I have been charged 8 times for a service that I have not even signed into. Your employees will not refund my money and I can see why you have such horrible reviews online. I wish that I paid closer attention to my account and I would not be in this rough situation. I know that you outsource your phone services because everyone that I have talked to has a language barrier. Maybe this person who was supposed to cancel my account did not do so for whatever reason. I cannot speculate. I would like this issue brought to your attention and hope for a speedy resolution. My credit card is also investigating this complaint EMAIL DOUG.[protected]@LIVECAREER.COM Thank you for contacting Resume-Now Customer Care. First of all, we would like to apologize for the way you were treated by some of our agents. Their actions were unacceptable. We will definately be taking action. We also want to thank you for the evidence provided. The first time you sent the information should have been enough. We have proceeded to grant all the charges since March. This means that $398.00 should be reflecting in the next 3-5 business days. Your account has been cancelled and no further charges will be made to your service. Per Management.

LiveCareer cancellation of service and refund of the amount fraudulently deducted

I had opt for your service in September and after the initial payment of $1.30 I had cancelled your service online but fraudulently without any intimation you kept deducting and a total of $198 has been deducted. I need an immediate refund of all the money unknowingly deducted from my account even after cancellation of your service. This is really a scam, I need my refund as I have not even used any of your service and the deduction charges have increased from $39 to $51 now . This is not acceptable I need the refund.

LiveCareer billing methods

On November 2015 I purchase what was first supposed to be a free resume template which later turned out to be a $2.95 trial charged on my credit card to which I never received a confirmation email to my order; only a password renewal email on what was really a 2 month re-charge of 34 something dollars after realizing the problem. This is what they call a re-newel paid subscription. Isn't this so wittingly confusing? Lured into this approach, I was confused and now very sad and stressed:over 100 $ for a one time printed Resume! Seems hundreds of people have been victims of such procedure since 2013 and it has been going on for years. Isn't it time this stopped? Why hasn't it? I want this particular question answered. Sincerely disappointed, George

LiveCareer unauthorized credit card charges

Live Career Ltd owns multiple resume building scam websites. Their sites sell you resume building services for nominal fees and then begin charging your credit card a monthly fee 36x the amount. It was 2 months before I caught this happening on my credit card. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company and will fight to be refunded everything, but this company should be shut down before this happens to more people.

I agree with you...it happened to me as well. In January I needed help with a cover letter and I used Live Careers services for $1.95. Within days after that they kept charging my card .33 cents, $1.00, and small transactions like that for what reason, I do not know. I emailed twice and went on the site to cancel my subscription before they charged me anymore and got no response, only to be charged $39.80 even though I had asked to cancel. When I called to cancel the man on the phone said that he would cancel my membership but couldn't talk to me about a refund because he could not do it for me, but that the billing department would email me in "2-3 business hours"...business hours? UHM...days? He said that the billing department had no phone number I could contact them by. This all sounded a bit shady to me. When I started to read reviews on Google about how this is a scam I decided to must cancel my debit card and get a new one, and also file a claim against this company to get my money refunded to me. I sure hope that you got your money refunded and I hope they get shut down if this is the kind of business they run. I hate scammers!

LiveCareer intentionally mislead and confuse customers - was charged $38 for nothing

This service intentionally mislead and confuse customers - I only wanted to buy one CV, but was charged several months for NOT using thei srvice: no notifications, no updates, no invoices. If you are buying a CV at one of their products you will be automatically charged for a subscription $38/month, but there is not a sign anywhere saying this. They only say this in one email, but make it in the very end of the letter. And they make it intentinally because: - Not a word about subscription and its price when you buy just one CV - They include information about subscription only in one email (when you buy one CV in the very end of the email they say: "As a reminder, to avoid any disruption in your job search, your subscription will automatically renew each month beginning on 08/06/2015 at 23.80 per month". But they say - "Order amount: £2.95" I am not a native Englisj speaker and I could not understand what do they mean saying at 23.80 per month. Overall the service brings no real service - just scam and fraud

LiveCareer cancelation of my subscription

When I subscribed to this it cost like a $1.oo and said I could cancel at any time, so once I realized what I did I canceled it immediately however, this morning as I was looking through my bank account I noticed I was charged $34.95. I want this taken off my account now. They should not say you can cancel anytime and then not cancel the account when asked to. To me this is a fraud.

I never even used this account because I don't need help with anything they have to offer.

LiveCareer somehow steeling competitive resume's and publishing those resume's as sample resume from their website. They just change name and publish it as their sample resume. They are keeping candidates personal profile in the public. This looks so unethical and very dangerous.

They keep the personal data in the public..

Hi I have same experience! I purchased a cover letter or something with awareness of paying $1. Today, I found that I was charged by $39 because I did not cancel a subscription in time. First of all I did not know about it and second of all I think this a way how to get ripped off by somebody who does not provide a proper informations and make money at expense of unaware customers.

LiveCareer fraudulent charges

On February 27th, 2015 I used this website called livecareer.com to help me create a quick resume. This was supposed to be a 0.95 one-time charge, but it automatically keeps charging me $40 per month for the following four months (from March to June) without any authorization, totally $165, 97! The fee is listed towards the bottom of the page, and when actually entering credit card info, there is no mention of the automatic charge that will be debited every four weeks. The monthly fee should be clearly listed on the final payment page. Clearly "let the buyer beware" should be foremost in your mind with this company. Download resume templates from microsoft.com. But don't use this service!

LiveCareer resume builder

I trid this service and used it for a couple of momths. I was OK with making the payments, but then I got a good job and no longer wanted to keep the service. I have tried for over three months to cancel my account. I have emailed and even called them directly. Each time they assure me that my account is closed, but each month they continue to bill me $39.80. And now again, today I see they are charging my debit card $39.80.
