They advertise solar panels as being approved for CEC rebate and 250Watt output but supplied me with 160W panels, not approved for rebate and 24 volt instead of 12Volt as ordered. They do not respond to emails or letters once the scam is exposed. They do not tell the truth on the phone. They are totally crooked. Consumer affairs in Victoria were useless. Asic does nothing. I am now going to apply for VCAT small claims hearing which will cost me.

Many people have been ripped of by this scummy business. I woulld like to get up a posse of their victims to deal with these creeps while they are still around. Please contact me on [protected]@live.com.au if you are willing to join in an action. I have no car but I can go to Sydney by train. I am a pensioner and they have taken me fort over $3000 which I have to pay back at high interest to the nab. Australia has no viable consumer protection system. We'll have to help ourselves.

Hello fellow victims - I've just been awarded $3000 by VCAT after a hearing which the LHP Power (the respondents) persons did not attend. I feel that my chances of collecting my award are very minimal. You best visit them with a posse of friends and some persuasion equipment before they disappear. I am the person who posted the original item on this site. Very good luck to you - I am Kay on kasch@live.com.au if you need some moral support.

This must be a lhp representative being facecious - pretending to be the ###ed aussie can be a good way to close a discussion.
Rationale - who would respond to that lot of meaningless bull?

Resolved

The company did nothing - I obtained a garnisheer order from the local court in Blacktown NSW and had $3083 taken out of LHP's bank account by the ANZ in Bairnsdale Victoria, who mailed a lovely check to me. The amount had been decided on by the VCAT tribunal during a hearing where I represented myself, but LHP did not send a representative. It required a good record of communications, receipts, and a statement by a licensed installer and patient persistence. Very satisfying.

The last complaint was posted on the 5th of April...well if you all think that they may changed their dodgy business practices think again...I have been stung by these seedy bunch of low lifes. I purchased, on the 9th of June, through their website, a $300 spa cover with delivery included...two months later I have tried numerous attempts to talk to managment or customer service by ringing and emailing their Sydney office. Having got through to one of the sales team I was told I had to apy extra $50 to get the cover delivered.
The warning bells went off in my head and I refused to pay, having tried to trace the delivery I have now been told that it is at the courier depot with $75 outstanding for them to release it...Luckily I had already started action with our CC company and I will get my money back, I am shocked and angry that they have been able to legally steal and defraud all of the unfortunate customers that have written their stories here. THREE WORDS - A CURRENT AFFAIR let Tracey and their investigative reporters loose on this dodgy internet business. GE

I am also another customer of them, but was lucky to insist on getting a receipt from them when I returned their product. Following with fair trading, I could get back my money after three months.

We have been to them twice and the last time will definitely be the last. Give them a fair go is a laugh. They tell nothing but lies. We have been waiting since March for a refund of the postage to send a faulty product back, about a month ago we finally received a refund for the faulty product but no freight which they told us they would reimburse.. We went to A Current Affair and it was only after they contacted them that we received our refund. I think Tatylor M has his head in the sand.or do0es he work for them.

I wish I had found this site before I bought from this company, they advertise has solarenergystore.com.au in the Caravan and Motorhome magazine. This is quite a good magazine so I didn't expect any problems. I bught a fridge and reversing mirrors in july. the fridge arrived without any leads. Have tried numerous times to contact them and the same problem has everyone else, no body replies to your emails and no body rings you. When you ask to be put through to the correct area who ever yo are talking to on the phone tells you he can't do that you have to send an email. I also phoned there customer service and he said he couldn;t help me, he actually got up set with me because I said thet if he is customer service he should be able to tell me all about my order. I am off over East from WA in October so I will take the advice of goldfish 99 and pay them a visit.

Hi Beth thanks for your comment on your experience it's interesting to read these comments.
I've purchased a lot from iron man in the past but when I saw them in the magazine I decided to purchase their winch (iron man one broke down...) it was an absolute bargain of a price, and I also added one of those LED 5m rolls.
I received the winch within 2 days (I'm in Melbourne) and I was missing the LED rolls. I spoke on the phone to a couple of guys but after 2 calls they did find out the first on got lost in the mail and sent another one immediately express post.
I don't know if I'm lucky or just a few people are 'unlucky' but I'll be buying from them again.. The only thing is that they didn't call me back once but when I called the second time they brought up my file and all the info was there.. I guess I can let them off for not calling me since they helped me out immensely before leaving for my trip so I'm extremely happy with the products AND PRICE! haha :)

We both agree and disagree with some of the above comments. About 12 months ago we bought a fridge from these people with no problems so we went back to them to buy a 2KVA Generator from them with a very different experience. Firstly after about a week with no generator, we contacted them to find out about delivery but could not be given any details except their it had left their premises. They told us that it was coming by courier but could not tell us which one or any tracking details. When it finally arrived it came by Australia Post not a courier. Then when we tried it, we found that it did not do what a 2Kva generator should do, It would not even drive a 850watt microwave which it should have done. We rang them and was told that it must be run in for 2-3 hours, WHAT A JOKE. However we did as they said but to no avail. It made no difference. We rang them again and as we told them that we wanted to send it back and get a refund we were told that we would be reimbursed for the freight costs and to send it back by Toll Ipec. This we did after haggling with them to get them to pay the freight up front. we rang them several times and were always told that the Manager was not in. We ended up calling him The Phantom Manager. Every time we rang we were put on hold for at least 20 minutes. We bought the thing in the first week of March, In May we contacted Office of Fair Trading and A Current Affair. After this we received a cheque for the cost of the generator but we are still waiting for the freight to be reimbursed. We saw their advertisement in Caravan And Motorhome On Tour. We contacted them and told them of our experience but still they are advertising them and we don't know why. To those people who say they are very happy with the company, all we can say is CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY. Hope you never have to return you bought item or maybe your thoughts on the company may change.

Not sure what all the fuss is about, my item did take 5 days to arrive which I find is reasonable (although a lot of parcels I receive are in 2-3 days) and the items I bought are pretty damn good for the price. I bought a 2kva generator and folding panel and fridge (package deal.)
I mean at first, I called to track the item but I was redirected to the 'despatch team' and asked to email them. I did complain a little about not being able to talk to someone but was assured I'd receive an email back so I emailed them and got a reply within 24 hours with some shipping information.
Can't say too much about the bad customer service that other people are getting but the products have been tested (brother in law is an electrician) and the items are working perfect so I'm happy LOL

I too have had the misfortune of purchasing a generator from the Perth Caravan and Camping Show from this mob. Like everyone else, they do not answer any emails, letters, or phone calls and they have given me all the same lies as the people above. Our generator finally arrived half filled with FUEL through Australia Post, cracked, housing coming apart, scratched, no instruction manual, etc. I reported them to Australia Post and Consumer Protection both of which are useless. Dont waste your time trying to get any protection from the Australia Consumer Laws, because they are not worth the paper ;they are written on. This dishonest company continues to rip consumers off all around the company and no-one in authority can do a thing about it!

I work for a 4x4 store and we buy from this them only because customers come in and request there products
management at the shop want us to try and talk customers out of buying from them and buying ironman gear TJM etc as there is not enough meat on there products meaning the owners don't make enough margins as they do sell all items at a bargain
to be honest there products are second to none if not better than most similar products on the market.

Kay Schieren is absolutely correct. These people are ### and thieves. They falsely advertised, took my money, sent a broken product, refuse to refund me even after I returned the faulty product. Their staff lie - for example their boss, Michael alexander was apparently at a trade show, so unavailable to talk to me - for a period of 2 months...a very long trade show. I am taking legal action to recover my money, as have others. NSW Fair Trading, the ACCC, the Australian Tax Office and Choice magazine are investigating them, and I am lodging a complaint with the NSW Police Fraud squad. Anyone here who supports this company is a ###ed goose in my opinion. Michael NSW - another victim of these thieves.

I agree with you Jo I also purchased from them fantastic gear I have been back for more stuff since you can't beat them on value thats forsure just compare there products with anyone else out there and you are saving big time. There must be a lot of stores pissed out as these guys are selling the same items for less than half the RRP, must be jelous competitors paying these guys out Id say. stop writing ### here and drop your prices you may find it helps to sell that kay person starts this forum to complain and calls someone a ###ed aussie you are the one that should not be trusted I say. not sure how someone can comment on a business without buying from them seems to be a jelous competitor
All there products are 80% discounted more than other sellers what does that make the competitors.
get rid of them and what will you be left with shops that charge an arm and a leg for the same item.

Kay - I think you're right. Roosters supporter? Obviously a Sydney local.

Well then, let me re-open it!

Thank you everybody for your honest complaints. I too live in North Queensland (regional) and was almost tempted in buying from these people. I dare say you have just saved me $585 and a lot more than that in sanity!

These people are disgusting. It is a disgrace that they call themselves a 'business'.

I first heard of this company from a popular 4x4 magazine, 4x4 Action. They run a large and expensive advertisement every month. I think it is wise for this popular 4x4 magazine to divorce themselves from these people, I would even recommend putting a write-up in their editorial section about them, in some ways the magazine should share some responsibility, as by displaying their ads they are endorsing the company. If 4x4 Action magazine continues to accept money from this company, their name will be as tarnished as Solar Energy Store Australia's.

I understand why this company remedies complaints from ebay, the all important 'feedback rating' is a powerful selling tool. Hopefully this forum displays enough interest that the 'feedback' is powerful enough to protect the next Aussie Battler from buying from this filthy company. As it just protected me.

Thank you again.

Should A Current Affair or Today Tonight be told about this company?

Yeah total ripoff them solar panels. Bought a few a couple of years ago. Size didn't match up to other panels out there. Now they're still selling their 'cheap' panels for a lot more now than you can buy a real 190 watt panel for that properly measures 1580x808 mm, buy now on ebay for $200 to $250 bucks each... Hope they come in contact with that proverbial rough end of the pineapple one day.

LHP (Luxury Home Products) also known as Solar Energy Store are as dodgy as they come. This business advertises on eBay, on the internet directly, in Blues Magazine, in caravan and camping magazines and they go to agricultural and trade shows to sell their wares. They have a shop front at Seven Hills in NSW. They are frauds. The products they sell are branded as INFOMON and are not what they are advertised as, they do not work as specified and unless you have some hold over them, like you purchased through eBay and are still able to give bad feedback, they are not interested in fixing any problems.

I purchased 6 x 200w Solar Panels off this company in August 2011 in a transaction over the phone. These panels were to be added to an existing off-grid remote area solar power plant. These panels are supposed to have a 25year warranty. The panels took approx. 1 month to arrive. It seems they got lost at the courier company and then courier wanted me to travel over 100km to collect them. When the panels first arrived they seemed to be smaller than 200w panels I had seen previously. Not knowing any better I thought that the technology may have improved and they must be able to pack more punch in a smaller package these days. Due to illness and various other reasons the panels were not installed till December 2011. 200w panels are supposed to put out 11 amps in ideal conditions and this is what the stickers on the back of these panels also said. Bear in mind that my 8 year old 85w panels sticker says 4.5 amps max and I regularly get 5 amps out of these panels. The highest output I have been able to record from the 200w lhp panels is 7 amps. I started to do some research and testing of these panels. I found out that most 200w panels have at least 72 cells. Even the lhp panels pictured on eBay have 72 cells. The lhp panels I received only have 54 cells.

Please note I have since purchased 180 watt panels from a different company. These panels have 72 cells. They also produce slightly more than the rated 10 amps.

I have tried contacting them by phone, I have contacted them by email and they are simply not prepared to do anything about it. They originally simply ignored me. Then when I emailed them that I was going to put my story on the net and contact media they pretended to try and work things out. They were really only playing a delay game that others have mentioned on the net, with no intention of really doing anything. They did ask if I wanted to send the dodgy panels back to which I responded that if I did I know Iwould never see them again or replacements or a refund. Strangely they made no attempt to deny this.

I also know of a friend who purchased a generator off them at an Ag show. The generator worked for ½ hour and never worked again. This was eventually replaced by lhp after the friend was about to go in to see them. So far the new one works although they only ran it for ten minutes.

I have also seen people on the internet complaining about this company ripping them off by claiming they can get the govt. rebate on their panels. The govt. has a list of approved panels. Only panels on that list are eligible for the rebate. These panels are not on the list. That is probably because they do not come up to specifications.

There are many complaints about this business on the internet if you look for them. Some of these people complain that they have gone through official channels including court, ASIC, Consumer Affairs departments for various states, etc. It seems all these government departments are toothless tigers. I thought the Australian Government was trying to encourage us to become green and use Solar Electricity Generation. What is the Carbon Tax about? Why, when people try to do the right thing can they get no real protection from the government? I have also done some investigation on the net and found many other complaints about this business. Unfortunately most people like myself don’t tend to look for complaints until they have a problem of their own. In this case Lhp tend to sort out only the complaints that go through eBay so as not to get a bad profile.

I had the same problem with this company LHP. They are bad news and need to be stopped. Ordered 2 x 250 watt panels and received two panels that were not nearly as big as my 175 watt panels but were labeled as 250 watt. Did a current test in full sun and did not come close to 250 watts. Again same problem they ignore all e-mails and divert me when I contact them by phone. please DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY.

Thanx guys, I was going to buy a generator but the address on ebay and on the net did not match.I rang and they stated they have moved but no signage at the new factory and havent changed their address.
Which business doesnt fix their address details? Both my brothers live in Sydney so I asked them to check it out.
