DO NOT HIRE LEON PIKOR! If you do, you will regret it I promise. To start with, he has NO INSURANCE whatsoever. No worker’s comp, no general liability, no personal liability. He wrote on our contract ‘$1, 000, 000 commercial liability has been added to your home’ and then handed us a bogus insurance certificate. Do not do anything until you have his insurance 100% verified. If you do this, you will right away see what I’m talking about and not have to live through the ordeal we did. Unfortunately for us, the story continues.

Anything that can get stolen will get stolen. Anything that can be broken will get broken. Got something that means something to you that you want to protect? Not for long!
He lied to us throughout the entire project…oh yes I will replace it, I promise at the end, no problem I will take care of it, I will fix it, etc….He made thousands and thousands of dollars of mistakes. He kept calling them ‘glitches’. If I never hear that word again it will be too soon. After letting many ‘glitches’ go, I started to catch a few. Well, he promised to fix the problem, take care of it at the end, we’ll settle up later, etc… When things started getting worse, we began to hire other contractors to finish his job, who….caught even more mistakes! Then ‘fixing it later’ or ‘settling up at the end’ all went out the window. We have been in arbitration with the Contractor’s State License Board for almost a year now. We are really trying to get his license taken away so he can’t keep doing this to other people. The best we can do is warn you.

If he offers for you to pay the ‘plumber’ (or whomever) direct, don’t take him up on it! He’ll claim he’s such a nice guy…I don’t want the commission, I just want to help you get it done, pay the plumber direct! Well, he will then proceed to shake down (harass even) the plumber for his commission. Then when the plumbing is done wrong or (yes) when your sink gets dropped and cracked…well it’s the plumbers fault and you paid him directly didn’t you.

Now the electrian….I paid Leon for final electric. Since he abandoned the project I had to call the electrician myself to come out for final inspection. The electrician told me he was owed $990 from Leon for the work he had done. Imagine his surprise when I told him I had paid Leon $2500 for final electric. In order to pass final inspection I had to hire another contractor and pay the electrician again.

Oh, I almost forgot on almost a daily basis you will show up at your house and work will be completed that you didn’t ask for. Work you even specifically asked him not to do. And guess what. In arbitration with the Contractor’s State License Board, they awarded him the money! For work we didn’t okay, work we specifically told him not to do, work we just showed up one day and it was completed. Where is the justice?

He had me paying him throughout the project for the outhouse. At the end I asked him to call and have it removed and he told me to call and do it. And guess what, when I called, I found out he had not paid for it the entire time it had been at our house. So I had to pay for it twice!

I am only giving you the highlights here. I don’t have time to relive the whole experience. The only thing I wish for you to get out of this is….DON’T HIRE LEON PIKOR! There are so many other contractors out there. Not even sure how he got his license in the first place. Just move on!
