LensCrafters - bait and switch

After having a bad experience at Eyemasters in the same mall your store is in, I went to Lenscrafters to find new glasses. The person that helped me that day was Peggy. She seemed very knowlegeable and friendly and willing to help me. I told her what I was looking for, the price I had paid without my insurance at Eyemasters ($279.99) for designer Armani...

I live in California, and that is what the RDO's tell you to do if the frame is returned by a customer before 15 days. you clean it off and put it back out with demos. You don't put it in Gift of Sight. This is something that has been going on out here for over 6 yrs. if you get caught putting the glasses in Gift Of Sight you get yelled at. It is so wrong you selling a frame to someone eles at the same price that was worn by a different person.

If you're referring to the Gift of Sight program in which glasses are recycled in foreign countries, then you're right. That IS something Lenscrafters is practicing. If you're referring to returned glasses that are being resold, then you should continue to push the issue. It's illegal to do in the US, and it is NOT a practice that is upheld by the company. Your individual store is shady.

LensCrafters prescription sunglasses (defective lenses)

Summer 2008 I purchased regular prescription glasses and a pair of prescription sunglasses at the LensCrafters in the Cherryvale Mall in Rockford. Within weeks of purchase, I noticed what appeared to be stress fractures in the lenses of the sunglasses. I hadn't even cleaned the glasses yet. They had been sitting in their hard shell container in my car. My belief is that the lenses were subjected to stress when put into the frames. I took them back to the store and was told that I had scratched the lenses and they would not replace the lenses. That moment they lost my business, my children's business and anyone else I can talk sense into. My local Optometrist appreciates LensCrafter's poor customer service.

I agree with both of you. It probably was from leaving them in the car, but I would replace them one time only if they did not know this!

True, Calla, but sometimes stress fractures can show up after the fact. Also, I question whether Rastus was told about leaving them in his car since he was so upfront about that information. If I were that LC location, I would have made a one-time replacement for him. There's no sense in losing his business for life. Give him the pickle!

Depending on the lens material, you're not supposed to leave most eyeglasses in the car because excessive heat will cause most lenses to expand/contract which will cause stress cracks.

did you go back into the store to swipe your card? or did you give them your credit card number over the phone? LensCrafters like many other large retail companies do not store your credit card information so you have to do one of those two things in order to recieve a refund.

LensCrafters service

I purchased 2 pairs of glasses - clear and prescription sun - on May 30.
Within a day or so, the prescription sun glasses lens popped out - and kept popping out. The first chance I had to return to the store for repair was 11 days after purchase on June 10, 2009.
At 12:00 the salesperson told me the lenses needed remade and would be ready in 1- 1 1/2 hours. I returned in 1 1/2 hours to wait another 1/2 hour for service.
I was told at 2:00 that the glasses were ready. The salesperson handed me the glasses - but they were barely tinted. I told the salesperson they were not the same tint as the lenses I returned. She said they were.
She retrieved the old lens and with a side-by-side comparison, the lenses were NOT the same darkness level as what I specifically requested in my original order, which these lenses were replacing.
WITHOUT AN APPOLOGY - I WAS JUST TOLD I HAD TO WAIT ANOTHER HOUR.
The Carolina Place Mall Lens Crafters staff is inept - unprofessional - rude and unaccommodating.
I paid a high price for Lens Crafters service and was treated VERY POORLY, lost time from work and had to make an extra trip out of my way to retrieve my glasses with NO APPOLOGY.

LensCrafters gemoneybank

I went to lenscrafters for my glasses they cheated me on the price saying my insurance only paid $35 towards my glasses. My payments for the glasses coverage is more then $35 a year. My employers insurance rep said I shouldnt have had to pay over $50 for my glasses. I was charged $347 which they financed with Ge Moneybank. I made payments for a year and a half when I started getting late charges and phone calls that my payment was late. I would get a phone call 3 days after I got the bill in the mail. I was told my balance was $427 after making payments for 1 1/2 years. I asked for a list of payments and charges especially late charges. The man I spoke with did not speak or understand english very well. He refused to give me this info. I told him I would not make another payment untill I recieved this info. I never recieved anymore paperwork from them but they turned me over to collections. I have 8 credit cards and have never missed a payment, never went over the limit and always pay double the minimum payment. These people are crooks and no one should do business with them ever. I bought a video camera 10m years ago from GE. It was in there warrenty repair station 6 months out of the first year and they would not replace it. I will never have another GE product as long as I live.

doesnt really matter what the interest free time is. They are totally overcharging on the interest and wont give an acounting of payments, charges or fees.

It is obvious you dont understand what you read. It was 12 months no interest. The amount was $327. I made $39 a month payments, this should have been payed of in 10 months but was set up on auto payments with my credit card. The payments were always on time. If you dont understand what you read why are you posting on this? I have used Lenscrafters for over 20 years, obviously there computer made a mistake but it was new insurance and I did not know for several months that I had over paid. Not untill I mentioned it at work and was told by the foreman I had overpaid, then it was too late to do anything about it. Do the numbers numbskull 10 X $39. is $390. 18 times $39. is $524. Yes I wasnt paying attention but they still grossly overcharged me and I have paid well over what interest they should have charged and they still want more. Collection agency wants another $730. which would make total over $1200. They are crooks IE GEMONYBANK. Lenscrafters made a mistake but I didnt know it soon enough. If you post another message to this I will file complaint against you.

They are a prefered provider for Aaetna. I have filed a complaint with Aaetna. And the prosectors office for fraud. I have paid $534 on this acount and they claim I still owe $430 That is something like 200% interest. They sold acount to a collection agency that say I now owe $740. I was never late on any payment. You need to read the first report again before you make another stupid post on this.

Your's, of course, is the stupid post. The Aetna is in no way related to the G.E. account. so that needs to be seperated from the start, ignorant. The interest goes to somewhere around 22-25% if not paid within three months. So, Einstein, if you don't pay your bill the interest accrues. Do you know what that means? PAY YOUR BILLS.
As to the Aetna. If your plan didn't show up originally, there was still time to fix it. Lenscrafters offers that service. You could have gone back to the store and had the bill adjusted for the insurance. I know this, because I had to do it. IT WAS SIMPLE.
Let's sum up now. YOU applied for a 3 month, same as cash account to pay for your glasses. YOU didn't pay the bill in the 3 month period. You are STILL responsible to pay the balance plus accrued interest. YOU paid for glasses you should (Maybe) have paid less for, but YOU didn't have it adjusted for insurance after the fact. On top of that YOU had a 30 day guarantee time to return the glasses, but YOU didn't take advantage of it. IT WAS ALL YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, KNUCKLEHEAD.
Do your local Lenscrafters a favor and stay away. They are too busy being number one with MILLIONS of satisfied customers for you to be a hassle to them.

First of all, did you check with your insurance company to see if Lenscrafters was an in network provider? Secondly, the account through G.E. is at the MOST a 6 month no interest. I'm sure that was explained to you at the time of purchase. The interest started after your deadline. You are responsible for taking care of payments.

LensCrafters employee-april

Purchased glasses on May 08, 2009, received call stating that lens needed to be returned and they would call us when ready. Today, we decided to call, person answered asked my husband to hold, he waited approximately 8-10 minutes, someone got on the line and asked who he was waiting for, he told them waited another 5-6 minutes was told lens had come in but needed to be inspected and that they would call, they indeed called. We drove to LensCrafters at Arbor Place Mall which is about 20 miles from our house. Salesperson April assisted my husband, we looked at the glasses and discovered that the glasses were a bright blue and that we did not like them.Salesperson April said to us in an arrogant way, didn't you know they were blue when you bought them, to which I replied, if we had known they were blue we wouldn't be surprised right now, the glasses looked dark brown. After that she wouldn't help us to select another pair of frames she just ignored us. A Lab Tech by the name of Chris saw our frustration and tried to help us with great appreciation LensCrafters lost money that day because I, too, was going to purchase my glasses from them We are expecting our refund and shall never go back there again, not because of the glasses, but because of lack of consideration on the part of April the Salesperson

LensCrafters glasses broke in 4 months.

I purchased new progressive lens glasses from LensCrafters 4 months ago. I really don’t care about name brands or off-brands, but I do care about how tough the glasses are. In my youth I was very hard on my glasses, and made it a point to get polycarbonate lenses in titanium frames. I’m a desk jockey now, with a quiet lifestyle, but I still make a point to buy tough glasses.

So I was extremely surprised when the frame of my new glasses snapped, like a rotten piece of pewter. This happened when I was just readjusting my glasses on my face – the lens frame snapped right under my left earpiece, releasing the left lens.

So much for “titanium.”

When I went into the store (Lenscrafters at Shaw & Blackstone in Fresno) I showed the attendant my broken frame, and he said, "We can fix this for $$". I didn't even hear the price - I was already talking... and I was getting loud about it too.

"I just bought these glasses, they're supposed to be Titanium - and they snapped when I was just readjusting them on my face!”

"No they're not." He said.

"What?"

"They're not Titanium." He pointed at the frame... "We don't make this style in Titanium."

I'm afraid I blew up then. I paid $400 for those glasses out of pocket, AFTER my insurance paid $150 for the frame and lens. What is worse is that they were SOLD to me as "Memory Titanium" - I was supposed to be able to flex the frame without breaking them.

When I started talking about false advertisement, the salesman suddenly changed his mind and offered to replace the frames immediately, at no charge.

I told him, "Fine. Do so. Now." And he did. Then I left. I still don’t have titanium frames. I don’t know what these frames are made of.

When I got home, I ordered my new computer glasses (with memory titanium) and my new prescription sun glasses (Also memory titanium frames) for under $50, from Zenni Optical. www.zennioptical.com.

This will be my 3rd order from Zenni, and I've been happy with all of my glasses orders from them.

This is the second and last time that I’ll allow LensCrafters to screw me. When I got these glasses, I asked LensCrafters to just replace the lenses in my old “Memory Titanium” frames. They said that they could not do so since they no longer carried the correct size lens blanks. Then the saleswoman went into her song and dance to sell me my current so-called “titanium” frames.

Lenscrafters sucks. And I’m in the market for an honest eyeglass company that offers good service, decent prices, and a no hassle lens replacement policy. Anyone know of such a company? Or is it just a myth?

Gee "makes your glasses" do you happen to work at Lenscrafters...or perhaps own stock? We all know when you shop at Lenscrafters you are paying for the 5 roaming employees (with full benefits) and the fancy store front. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that probably...probably a lot of Lenscrafters fancy "name brand" glasses come out of the same factory in China that some of these on line optical places get their frames. Go on in and see how they try to up-sell you all the bells and whistles. I think they work on commission. It cost me well over $500 for my last pair of glasses at Lenscrafters and that was the sale price. Yes, I got the overpriced designer frames. That was the last time. I just ordered from Zenni and got all the bells and whistles for $132. I can have 3 pairs of transition, progressive, anti-reflective, anti scratch glasses for what I paid for one pair from Lenscrafters. Dang I love the internet!

Yargon,

Just because a frame is marketed for being "durable", doesn't mean it's impervious. Here's a lesson on metal frames: titanium frames are made of titanium, though titanium is not the only metal in the frame. Titanium does not adjust and certain points in the frame need to be a different, moldable metal that are susceptible to the slight bending that occurs when glasses are adjusted. As for the frame that Calladus broke, the description is unclear where exactly the break was as "right under the earpiece" does not tell me anything about the breakage location. My best guess is around the temple or the hinge. This is a place in which is adjusted in order to fit the customer's head, therefore, that part is not titanium. As for the frame being "sold as titanium", I'm sure this was a misunderstanding by the customer. The customer may have initially stated they preferred titanium, but after the selection of these frames was rejected by the customer, the optician may have moved on to another material. If the customer specifically asked if the frame they were purchasing was titanium, in which the associate assured them of this fact, the customer would have been mislead. Customers will notice that most frames made from titanium, have "titanium" printed on the inside temple (side of the glasses).

As for Lenscrafters being the so-called "JiffyLube of the lens world"- I'm not sure how you've come to this accusation. How dare Lenscrafters sell a quality product and stand behind their product when something happens. How dare they "rip the customer off" by offering half off replacement lenses when the customer is completely negligent for scratching their lenses. I wonder how many online prescription glasses companies would honor this? Let me ask you another questions: do these online sites offer the EXACT frame you would buy at Lenscrafters with the EXACT lenses? You pay more at Lenscrafters because you are paying for a designer frame, not a frame devoid of any branding stating whom actually manufactured it. As for the lenses, I took a look at zennioptical.com and they did not state anything about the type of lenses the customer would receive. If they used a quality name brand, they would have it plastered all over the site to assure the customer of quality. Lenscrafters carries name brand lenses with name brand and patented coatings (e.g. Scotchgard) and these products cost more for Lenscrafters to purchase in whole from the vendor, so why wouldn't they charge more for their product?

As for online precription glasses companies, where on earth would you take these glasses to get adjusted? Oh I know! Lenscrafters or another optical store. And what happens when they break your poorly made, poor quality material glasses? You complain that they were responsible and demand a free pair of glasses. You can just ignore when the optician stated prior to the adjustment that they are not responsible for breaking these glasses. Also, when you go into any quality optical store, these use an instrument in which you hold like a pair of binoculars. This is called a pupillometer in which measures your pupillary distance. How are you going to measure this yourself without this instrument, let alone a trained optician that can use it? Oh I know! You also rely on stores like Lenscrafters for their service to measure this, and then decide you aren't interested, taking note of the pupillary distance to turn around and use on these sites. And yet another problem with this is when you go into these stores, yet again, to purchase glasses and they tell you to look at them, in which they then put a mark on the lens. This is to measure your ocular center height. I have yet to find an online website that uses this number. They assume your eyes sit perfectly centered in the lenses. This is rarely the case, unfortunately for the hopeless consumers of these online websites. When buying multifocal lenses, this process becomes even more meticulous as further measurements need to be taken for the customer to see distances, mid-range, and reading. Once again they have to assume every one of their customers is the same for this measurement.

At Lenscrafters, not only are you paying for these brand name items, but services by the opticians in making the exact measurements previously mentioned, and to the lab technicians to make sure every number on the ticket, from lens power to progressive fitting height, matches the actual lens reading exactly. Do not misconstrue my mention of branding as simply advertisement for some pre-teen to brag about the giant rhinestoned CHANEL on the side of her glasses, but it usually denotes quality and this is how they became a name brand.

As for the actual issue with the breakage of the frame Calladus explained, without knowing where the breakage was exactly, I can not tell you why the employee told you it would cost you money. All services performed on glasses by Lenscrafters that were purchased from Lenscrafters are offered free of charge. If the point of breakage needed to be soldered, Lenscrafters does not have the soldering iron or anything near the capabilities that would fix this, therefore that would not cost money. The only thing that may have costed money is replacing the frame due to customer negligence. Lenscrafters is riddled with customers that cry, "But I didn't even touch it! It broke on its own!" This is why they are trained to identify what is customer negligence and what is a defective product, and usually they ignore the fact that it was customer negligence and go ahead and replace them. This is usually because the customer was courteous and respectful of the staff, so keep that in mind.

Many do not understand the meticulous task of creating glasses and everything that goes into creating an optically perfect pair. I didn't understand any of this before learning the art of glasses making, so I understand that many people think the place they received their glasses at is trying to some how scam or deceive them in some way. Opticians and lab technicians and fully trained to recommend certain frames and lenses to customers based on customer needs and price range and will usually go out of their way to make the customer happy. Are there bad employees at these places, yes, but perhaps you should ask for a manager if you feel an employee is not doing everything to rectify your situation.

Suzzie, if the jeans were sold to you for $400 and billed as being impervious to tearing and they ripped a week later while getting into your car, you might be justifiably upset.

As for Lenscrafters, all brick and mortar eyeglasses stores are rip-offs, but Lenscrafters is the JiffyLube of the lens world - established ripoff artists. Why pay half a grand for glasses you can purchase online, as you apparently have several times, for 1/10th the cost? I recently got my first pair online, with memoryflex titanium, anti-reflective coating, UV protection, microfiber cloth, case, sunshades, etc., all for $40, and a perfect prescription to boot. Lenscrafters meanwhile tried to get my mom to pay an extra $100 for anti-reflective coating because they didn't offer the AR coating "in that frame." Ridiculous.

the flexable frames no matter what they are made of can still break-ALL frames have sauder points where the glasses are out together. Again I still fon't understand how you can blame lenscrafters for your breaking your frames! If you bought a pair of jeans then ripped them and didn't remember how would you blame the store where you purchaesed them?

LensCrafters disceptive replacement discount

I scratched the right lens in my glasses which I purchased from Lenscrafters 2/28/09. I paid $615 for 2 lenses plus new frames. When I inquired about replacing the damaged lens I was told I was covered by their replacement coverage and I would received a 50% discount. I was then told I had to replace both lenses even though only one lens was scratched because that is their policy, hence I would have to pay $307.50. The way I see it is I'm paying full price for the one lens I need to have replaced. I have purchased my last 3 pairs of eyeglasses from Lenscrafters and paid a lot of money to do so. I will NEVER patronize Lenscrafters again and I encourage all to do the same.

What self serving answers about requiring that both lenses be replaced, even though one is perfectly fine. I had the same problem. The optician helping me explained it was company policy. I replied it was only a way to get more money out of you. He shrugged sheepishly and said "I was trying to be diplomatic".
I then went to 2 other reputable opticians and they were totally fine with replacing just one lens. Don't be afraid to go elsewhere.

As of this year Lenscrafters has an improved protection plan for glasses. Unconditionally, your glasses are covered for 90-days for every customer. And they have a plan you can purchase for $25. And everytime you need to use it you pay a $25 co-pay. It covers everything that could happen to your glasses (including scratch lenses) except loss or stolen. This plan last for a year. The year starts after the unconditional 90 days.

BUYER BEWARE ! ----> Upon inquiry of replacement cost under the one year replacement policy they immediately inflate the "current retail replacement cost" The retail purchaser will not know this value or would they ever pay this "INFLATED COST" for a new pair of glasses.

If you walked into a Lenscrafters store today the over the counter retail purchase price of a new pair of glasses "IS NOT" the same price Lenscrafters will charge you for a new pair of one year replacement glasses at the 50% discount price rate. YOU WILL PAY 90% OF WHAT YOU PAID OVER THE COUNTER AT THE ORIGINAL TIME OF PURCHASE.

SHAME ON YOU LENSCRAFTER !

You know how you have to have a prescription to get glasses? That's because they're something that a DOCTOR prescribes. I think people forget that when they purchase glasses. There are logical reasons as to why they can't just make one lens and not the other, as the people before me have explained. Any company who WOULD replace just one lens like that is not doing their job to ensure the quality of the product or the health and safety of your vision.

I can certainly understand being irritated at first, but I CAN'T understand why you'd stop giving them your business over it. YOU messed up the lens, and they're willing to replace both of them for half the cost. Think about it this way, dude. You're getting two NEW lenses at the same cost of having one lens replaced at full price (which is what any other business selling anything other than glasses would do).

I have the same complaint here in Canada. If I can I will take out an Advertisement in a major Newspaper detailling my complaint. I called the Home Office of LensCrafters to get the name of the President of the Company. They won't give it out claiming security reason. I guess the security reason is that they get so many complaints they coul'dn't handle the mail.

I agree with above-where else do you get 50% off if you do something to your glasses in a year? Oh yea that's right no where! Also if you have transitions or anti-reflective getting only one lens would ba a bad idea. In transitions the lenses would be two different colors because one lenses was newer that the other and the A/R coating would look different and may be noticable.

As the number one optical retailer in the country they can't be that bad. Tell me of another product YOU can damage, and have it replaced for half price. It is important to replace both lenses to insure proper placement of optical center or seg heights. Also, try another location before castigating an entire company.

LensCrafters eye infection - dangerous!!!

EYE INFECTION WITH ABSCESS!
My mother had an eye exam and purchased glasses from Lenscrafters on Thursday. On Friday, she developed a HORRIBLE eye infection with abscess. Doctor said he treats lots of eye infections after exams from improperly sanitized eye equipment. Nurse said she takes her own sanitation wipes and uses them before putting face against equipment.

The doctors next to Lenscrafters are independent of Lenscrafters. Your complaint would be with that specific doctor. Check the prescription they wrote for your mother and it should have the name of the doctor's practice.

LensCrafters - price gouging

I find it despicable that Lenscrafters offers a Standard Progressive Lens with "Obstructed field of vision" for a lower cost than the AVP Lens that has a wider field of vision for a higher cost. Why would anyone want to purchase something with obstructed field of vision. Isn't that why we are all buying glasses because we have obstructed vision? I have been...

LensCrafters poor customer service

Today I visited the Towson store to have my glasses tighted. I took a seat and was still sitting in that seat 20 minutes later, without anyone acknowledging I was there. Neither of the two women working in the store ever aknowledged me. So, after 20 minutes I left and they watched me leave--saying nothing. I purchased 2 pair of glasses almost a year ago for over $600. Needless to say I will not be using Lens Crafters again. This was my first and last time using Lens Crafters. I have a Lens Crafters credit card which I will cancel immediately. And, I actually wanted to purchase a third pair of glasses before my prescription expired. This is so sad, because a few simple words, like someone will be right with you would have gone a long way.

My question to everyone who has complained about this company, is why did you not check for complaints lodged against lens crafters before ever going?!? Hind sight is wonderful, but it would save everyone major headache in the long run.

With places around that offer great glasses and eye exams at affordable prices, why go to lens crafters? I would love to see them go under!

I called your office on the west-side of Cincinnati office. (Western Hills Plaze) I called not once but four times and each time I was told to hold on and my call would be redirected to someone who could help me. I was disconnected on each and every call. It's is a shameful scenario. I have been getting my optic needs from this locale for over 20 years. What ever happened to the words "customer service"? I will not ever go back to this locale or any other Lens Crafters office/location. They are unb elievable. With the economy the way that it is, you would think that they could at least answer their phone.
I did try another store and they answered. I said that I wanted the home office phone number. They came back on the line and asked if I would give them my name and phone number and that they would try to contact the store that I was trying to call. I just said that I wasn't willing to do that and that I just wanted their home office number. She didn't ask me to hold, just put me on hold. What it going on with this Company? What a bunch of melarchy.

LensCrafters rudeness from office manager

The office manager heather castro was not helping anyone. I sat and waited patiently for 13 minutes very patiently. I decided that i would ask for help from her, i had know idea she was even the manager in the beginning. She says i will be there in a minute, she was on a call. No problem i figured, so i sat back down, but she wasn't on the phone with a cust. But another store tralking about how this and that would be great for marketing purposes and laughing and just having a great time, and saying things like sure i can come over to the other store on monday and help out if so and so can't make it, and i said you know i would have understood if that was a cust. But that was someone from another store you should have sad i have to go i have a cust. And hung up. Not to mention that i had ordered my glasses and paid for them back on mar. 7th 2009 and finally got them on the 22nd of march and they were wrong but she was just plain rude and she was the manager of the store. Shewouldnt give me her regional managers name. Claimed that it was confidential. Heather castro needs coaching and i need an apology at the least. She said i had to submit the complaint online. So this is just a small piece of my frustration.

FIRST I WOULD LIKE TO START BY SAYING LENSCRAFTER WAS GREAT PLEACE FOR ME TO BUILD THE EXPERIANCE I NEED FOR THE PASSION I HAVE IN THE OPTICAL FIELD. I HAD A REAL HUGE PROBLEMS WITH A MANAGER LETTING ME GO BECAUSE OF A ISSUE. MANAGER CORLEY RANDOLPH GM @ STORE 355 LEWISVILLE TX ALWAY TOLD US TO KEEP OUR CUSTOMER HAPPY AND HE WOULD GO TO THE EXTREME FOR THEM EVEN IF HE WAS TO GO AWAY FROM THE COMPANY POLICY. I WAS LET GO BY THE LP AND GM OVER A FRIENDS AND FAMILY COUPON THAT WAS NOT ON THE RECEIPT. I ALWAY TOLD HIM THAT IF HE TELLS US TO GIVE THEM FRIENDS AND FAMILY COUPONS TO PLEASE HAVE ONE FOR THEM TO STAPLE TO THE RECEIPT. NOT ONLY WAS THIS THE PROBLEM HE ALWAY TALKED BAD ABOUT EMPLOYEES AND CUSTOMER. HE HAD NO RESPECT FOR CUSTOMER HE WAS ALWAYS UNDER STAFF. THIS MANAGER WAS ALWAYS LOW IN INVENTORY AND ACCUSED EMPLOYEES THAT IT WAS US. I LOVED WORKING THERE BEFORE HE CAME TO THE STORE. THERE HAVE BEEN EMPLOYEES THAT HAVE WORKED FOR THE COMPANY FOR MORE THEN 15 YEARS AND HAVE STOP WORKING FOR A GREAT COMPANY. CORLEY RANDOLPH GM ALSO GIVES MANY DISCOUNTS THAT ARE NOT IN COMPANY POLICY. PRETTY SAD TO SAY THAT A EMPLOYEE THAT HAS BEEN VERY LOYAL WAS LET GO BUT A MEN THAT BRINGS A STORE DOWN WAS KEPT. I HAVE BUILT A FAMILY THERE AND IM VERY SAD THAT I WAS LET GO BUT I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THIS WILL NEVER BE HEARD OR SEEN BY ANY CEO VP RM GM OR LP. I WISH THE BEST FOR LUXOTTICA A GREAT MAN BUILT AND FOUNDED THE COMPANY AND IS KNOW BEING DESTROYED BY MANAGERS LP THAT ARE BEST FRIENDS AND LAUGH AT GREAT EMPLOYEES THAT HAVE WORKED THERE.

I will NEVER go to the Lens Crafters in the Woodland Mall ever again.
I called to get a refill on my contacts, in which the rep over the phone, Stephanie, told me that I was due for an exam. Fine, I'll go, I'm all out of contacts. I confirmed the appointment for 01/30/13 at 2:00pm. i recieved a reminder phone call the day of and called back to confirm. i spoke to another female rep., in which i asked her if there was anything i should bring. she told me just my contact box and glasses. Okay, as an existing cutstomer, and my job being the same, my info should still be on file from the year before. I get there early as requested from Lens Crafters, and the woman told me at the front desk that she needed my insurance card. With all these phone calls and reps. I spoke to, NO ONE informed me they needed this info. I'm the same person! With all this technology, why isn't this on file? Why can't you call up my insurance company? The woman at the front desk then said, " we can go ahead with the exam and charge you today and reimburse you..." I wouldn't let her even finish. No way am I giving you a dime. I told her no, and left. Terrible, terrible, terrible customer service. Funny thing is, I work as a Retention Advisor for a major cable company. I give customer service all day long. I can't fathom how these people work there.

I visited the Lenscrafters in Cedar Hill, TX today and the managers name was Dave or David, can't recall exactly which. I was visiting in order to purchase new glasses for my daughter. In the past I purchased eyeglasses from Target or Walmart. It had been 2 years and my daughter was due for a new prescription and I thought I would be able to leave with the new glasses on the same day. Since I hadn't been a customer of LC in the past, I was unaware that we needed to go next door for the prescription prior to selecting frames. So with that said after waiting for 45 minutes and it was finally our turn, to find out we needed to go somewhere else for an eye exam. I felt when Dave, the manager took our name, he should have made me aware of such, instead I sat waiting for nearly an hour. When I mentioned this to him, not did I only not get an apology, but he made excuses that they were busy and were understaffed. There was also a female which had just arrived who thought the situation was hilarious. I'll continue to purchase my glasses from Tar'get...I may end up waiting a week to recieve my glasses, but you just can't buy good customer service.

I totally agree. I have been to LensCrafters 3 times in a week and a half and have to go back today. The managers are soooo rude! I have not been offered an apology even though the error has been on their craftsmanship! They are providing very poor quality for something so precious as sight! I truly thought I was going blind but when I returned to my eye doctor he informed me it wasn't my eyes but their work! I am extremely frustrated and IF this is ever resolved I will NEVER return to them! Eight years ago when I was last at LensCrafters (I did not go for year because of their higher prices), the manager at the Richmond Willow Lawn store was a gem - he even opened early one morning so I could have my broken glasses repaired in time for me to be at work! Now that's service!

The CEO of LensCrafers is Dave Brown. I am in the process of a long letter to him. I am not sure if I will even receive a reply but let's hope they care somewhat how people are being treated! The corporate address is: LensCrafters

LensCrafters pricing outragous

I took my daughters frames, which i purchaced my self, to Lenscrafter in Buffalo ny at the Galleria Mall. I just needed the lenses put in. I had a price of 119.00 at a different oftical store but unfortunatly it was 5 days to get the glasses back. Lenscrafters could do them the same day. Yes but they wanted 350.00!
this is ridiculous. An absolute truth about stealing when it comes to stealing the customers money.
There is absolutely NO way you can justify this price.

Yea, Lenscrafters is pricey. Honestly you can just go to any Chinese place and they'll give you the exact same pair in the same amount of time for half the price. So I guess you're paying for name. Nothing wrong with that. Personally, I'd rather have the money in my pocket.

You can absolutely justify the price. You're paying for the convenience. It's the same as paying $1.50 for a cold bottle of Coke from a vending machine when you COULD buy a 2-liter for $0.99 at the grocery store. If you're not willing to pay that much to get them on the same day, then don't.

I have been an optician for 20 yrs . and I am sick and tired of customer complaints, from the time it takes to getting their glasses to the price they have to pay for them. Yes, we make mistakes, we are only human after all and not machines.Yes, some complaints are legit. Nothing is ever 100% perfect. The Lenscrafters store I work at bends over backwards to give the best customer service we can & take pride in our work. If we make a mistake we always fix it. Customers want the highest quality products then have a fit when they have to pay for it. Yet when it comes to buying that big screen t.v. or those designer clothes no one seems to have a problem forking over their money. What consumers forget is that buying glasses is not like buying a pair of shoes. Glasses are a medical device and are custom made for the pt. We are part of the medical field. In Nevada, opticians are state licensed and have to get nationally certified & state licensed all while working in the field and getting a degree from the college. All this just so I can sell you a pair of glasses or contact lenses. We have to renew licenses every year and take C.E. classes to be able to renew said license. This is no differant than drs., nurses etc. I am offended to be called and treated like a car salesman. No one twists your arm or wrestles your money out of your hand. You have a choice to say yes or no to the purchase. Consumers need to start taking responsibility for there actions and quit blaming us for their poor decsions. This has become the american way of life. Always someone elses fault. Last I looked this was a free country & YOU HAVE CHOICES. If the price is not good for you, JUST SAY NO.

If your daughter is a single vision wearer, Lenscrafters has an option for $125.00. If her rx is strong, especially high astig. correction a hi index lens may be more beneficial. Those can reach the $350 range. if you added things like the anti reflective coating and/or photochromatic lenses they to can reach that area. It was all up to you. High quality optics and workmanship do cost more. also, Lenscrafters coupons and promotions are for frame and lens purchase only. I'm sure if they had accidently broken the frame during the process, you woul have whined until they gave you another one. For that reason, they can't discount as much for lenses only. The stealing talk is childish drivel, too. You obviously were not forced to purchase their product. Do your local Lenscrafters store a favor, and go somewhere else.

LensCrafters bad customer service

My neighbor has recently purchases a pair of eye glasses from Lenscrafters and didn't have a very pleasent customer service experience. My neighbor is an older lady and during the purchase of her glasses was given nothing but the run around from the manager at the Wausau Lenscrafters location. The latest information I have received from her is that the overall infromation about her eye glasses is still pending and this run around has been going on for a couple of weeks now. She hopes that a conclusion can be obtained soon and she can either get the money for the glasses or at least get the right services she needs to get the right prescription for her glasses.

LensCrafters frustrated employee

Lenscrafters are runs by people who are power freak. They treat their employees like dogs. I don't think those power hungry freaks are even supporting the mission of the Luxoticca Company. There is no accountability in the higher ups. The morale is so low. They are abusive of their powers. The whistle blower policy doesn't exist. I hope those the Retail Associates, Licensed Opticians, Lab techs should stand up for themselves and speak up. These Regional Managers, Store Managers are useless. They are the worst people in the company and should be deleted. They have no morale, no respect to their Staffs. They like to write up Staffs so they gain points. They are very manipulative and should be removed from the Organization and be replaced by Staffs who are dedicated and supportive of the mission. I have worked in this company for years and years and I say, the morale is going down. There is no professionalism in the Industry. Licensed Opticians are being manipulated and being treated like high school graduates. I am so sick and tired of being pushed around. I am encouraging the Staffs to start documenting abuses and be not afraid to speak up.

yes i agree with the above statements. Hiring unknowledgeable in optics and expect the seaonal help to train them and meet their personal goals as well. and hiring 5 more people and cutting everyones hours. fulltime people getting only 30 hours while the part timers 20 to 25 hours? also management staying in the office all day doing reports when the floor is busy with customers, unwilling to help their associates. when i started with the company over a decade ago, it was great but has definately went down hill.

Honest, Fedup, and Valarie...I totally agree. This activity is taking place in my region as well. Won't say which region or brand but each operates most likely the same.

Just give a two week crash course in optics and you have a managers position! Minimum wages, cutting hours, stopped matching 401k etc... and no experience necessary mean saving money for management level cruises etc... Unbelievable!

Luxottica knows most associates are not optically inclined and would not know how to trouble shoot to save their soul. The remakes usually ending as refunds are amazing!

I stay because I love my chosen profession and have not been fired, yet, for making too much pay, or being too old. I am sure Luxottica will find a reason, like "not making your quota" or didn't "super size an order" in this mass produced, don't give one care organization. But, I will not QUIT what I love.

if this is just a personality clash between workers, you are better off keeping your mouth SHUT TIGHT.
Personality Clash complaints usually end up in firings, but surprise.. it will be person who filed the complaint being let go after the inquiry is finished..

Your co-workers, sensing they are about to be dragged into something that could threaten their job, will lie and say they have no problem with Supervisor X. They will say nothing is wrong or they haven't noticed anyome getting yelled at etc..

This will lead the person doing the inquiry to conclude that the problem is just between you two. And by getting rid of one of you the problem will be solved. Who do I choose, the temp/sales clerk I can replace tomorrow or the manager who takes alot of time and money to train.

answer is always: you

I totally agree. The management at the Luxottica location in Memphis is a joke... One I can name in particular, but I won"t. I once witnessed a team lead go completeley off on a temp in front of everyone. This temp was a very good worker. Because the temp said somthing back to him, she was let go. This is not the first time this team lead has offended associates. Piss poor management let him get away with it once again. I think corporate needs to make a surprise visit and just randomly talk to some of the associates. They would be very surprised at what they will find out. Luxottica has some very good workers who are getting fed up with all the crap... Company morale is at a all time low. Associates work 12 hour days and most of the time on Sunday with no appreciation. Associates, it is time to speak up about what's really going on when corporate's back is turned...

I agree with you. The Managers at Lenscrafters both on the field and at the store are the worst" Creatures". They have no ethics, absolutely NO knowledge in the optical field, sadly even the Directors, and are just on the job trained managers. They can lie, manipulate, and are extremely rude and Political. They can do anything to save their Jobs. They get paid for Xmas eve while they can deny Xmas eve ( paid or unpaid) for a Full time employee. They hire full time employees while may be they cant afford them. They lie about PTO hours as earned, while even if someone has completed 1 year by the rules the Employee gets 2 weeks PTO hours added but you get to see that only 8 hrs is added and besides if you leave the job after a year they do not count your PTO hours, "they like to keep the change". They will deny your earned benefits. They are very unprofessional and greedy.

I think Luxottica should hire people who have done some kind of Schooling in Management before hiring them as Managers that way they will learn to respect Managers post and understand how hard it is to earn that position. They will justify the Post, the staff and the Company that they work for.

Managers probably do everything else but manage the Job. They want to go home early, come late, take time-off when they like for personal reasons, go for hair cut while at job, go for lunch for an hour or more, and yes the best they do not clock in or out like the other employees have to.

Wish the CEO of the company is reading these reports too. I am sure it is not the same in NZ or other nations...probably it is just in USA and hope they do something to improve this before losing their good employees. It is not just about MBE from the customers side check if it is from the Employees's side too!

LensCrafters credit card

I purchased a pair of sunglasses for my husband just before he was diagnosed with lung cancer. I believe they cost $160. I used their credit card to pay.
Months later I received a call from a foreigner about this debt. I had forgotten about it. I made a $60 payment online. The following two months, I made a $30 payment each month. When I made the second payment, I later checked my bank statement. The payment never came out of my checking account. I checked the next bill I received. They had added a considerable amount to the bill.
I sent them a letter explaining my circumstances and offering $140 to pay off this debt. They replied with an offer for $215 to pay it off. I made the payment.
I just received a bill from them where they deducted the $215 I paid and now they want an additional $241.11!
I have a copy of the letter they wrote on December 9, 2008 offering me $215 to "accept as full settlement on your account and we will waive the remaining balance!" MF LIARS! And I have a letter I have written to them detailing exactly what they can do with their paper.

LensCrafters beware!

As of 2009, Lenscrafters will no longer match their employee's 401k contributions. They are reducing Full-time hours, taking away portions of employees Paid-Time-Off and reducing raises for annual performance reviews. What a great way to say thanks to your employees for helping you to increase your sales by 10%. Please add your comments!

Important: LUXOTTICA’S FY 2008 CONSOLIDATED NET SALES UP BY 10.7%.

The incentive for young people has been that matching funds that companies have been supplying to them and now without that, I think the incentive to save is going to be plunging.

LC has laid people off in the CSC Department. And replaced them with part-time workers! And tomorrow there is another round of lay-offs in headquarters. LC has 9 years in a row of decreasing customer count! Why? This business model cannot compete with Walmart and the $8.00 glasses ( yes, it is true ) you can buy on-line! It is a different world. And LC has to change to survive. Maybe it will, maybe it won't, but the world will keep spinning either way.

Once companies start making these weird moves that make no sense, its because they are determined to go bargain-basement-bottom-of-the-barrel cheap in order to "grow". And that means getting rid of older workers in an orchestrated campaign. Its easier to look for a job, while you have a job. Don't delay.

Circuit city did this same kind of stuff. They dont care that you might have skills. They only care that you cost more than the 19-22 y/o they wish they could replace you with.

Lux still has a 401k and a Pension, they also are not rewarding poor performance of unconsistant behavior among associates thru doctors. They have NOT laid off anyone and they have frozen increaseses for Docotors on up the the corporate ladder.

Lux is making these changes so that they can control there profit a little more closely and not have to do layoffs. Whats so wrong with that? Payroll is the number one contributing factor to Cost Control in any business and with how spending from the general public is going we cant afford to have the same amount of people on our staff because we arent making the money need to support those Hours.

This is just simple business, If you Sell more units you have more Hours. Dont complain about having a job, especially a job that has a 401k, pension, multiple dentals plans, multiple Health insurance plans for Full and Part time Associates and Great Discounts on Eyewear for employees...

Look at teh BIG picture. Look at what we have as a whole, look at personal performance so that you can get those maximized hours in your location.

These are just cost control measures any smart business person would take so that they can still grow there business in a slightly declined economy.

Hey all you folks do is complaint about how bad the company is. So why don`t you form a UNION. You all work you ### all these years and at the end being treated like you are worthless. With Union, they can`t treat you like this. This is a big company and it is just right to be treated nicely in return.

LensCrafters no customer service!

I Purchased over $1000.00 worth of glasses at Lakeland, Fl Lenscrafter on Florida Ave & the left lens kept coming out, would not tighten. They refused to give me a screw to take with me when it works out. But they would allow me to drive almost 18 miles without my required glasses in heavy traffic for them to put a screw in. What is the thinking behind this? A two cent screw cost them a customer for LIFE! Plus the laminate on my sunglasses lifted off the lenses and they could have cared less. A screw of all things!

DO you have a tiny little screw driver and tweezers to put it in with? If so they should have given you a screw.
