LawDepot / Sequiter Financially a nightmare

Financially a nightmare, although the Roommate Agreement was fine. They are nice on the phone (Canadians) but can't seem to stop charging me for a subscription I did not intend to opt into. Called them within 20 minutes of accidental click, they sympathized and arranged a refund. Fine. But 4 months later I am being charged again and after calling them I contacted my bank to cancel the debit card (and get another one with a new number so they can't access it). Just BE REALLY CAREFUL and move slowly during the one-time purchase/free week-long trial opt-in and read carefully before clicking. They act like it isn't one, but their aggressive, wordy "free" thingy has scam all over it ... and even at the supervisor level they don't seem to be able to fully cancel taking your money.

HORRIBLE experience. I have been charged $33/mo for almost a year without ever logging in or using their services. I contacted customer support to have them issue a refund and they were only willing to refund the most recent charge ($33 of the $396 they have charged me).

This is one of those websites that scams you with their "free trial" and then gets you on their monthly subscription plan WITH NO SIGN OF IT. Only a sign-up confirmation email. They will send you some template over and over telling you it was stated in the agreement and that it's your fault because you should have checked your statement, but there's something funny about this company. I've never experienced that before. They have a 118 day return policy to save them from returning all your money when you realize that $33 is being taken from your account every month. I lost $429 to this company and they did absolutely nothing for me. I printed a free document with my trial on the first day, never logged in since and they still hit me with that sorry response. They were only willing to give me 4 out of 13 months worth of my money back. I hate companies that thrive on this sort of business model. Shady written all over it. They offer no solutions other than their templated response. Awful "customer service."

I would be willing to say that most of the parties above had no intention of using the subscription service and only wanted something for nothing, and while I do sympathize with those that did request the cancellation as required and continued to be billed. I think the intention of the trial is so you can see the products and services they offer to provide in order to convince you the value is well worth it for legal document needs. Wake up America and stop whining that when you sat there in your parents nest with your mouth open waiting to be fed, someone took a huge dump in it.

Not properly disclosing a recurring billing that will occur as a result of a free trial, or not doing so in a highly visible and clear way, is a violation of USA Federal Trade Commission (FTC) rules and regulations and can be reported to them if you as a customer reside in the USA.

I have to say, that all of you accusing this company of being a scam because their "free" document wasn't free at the end, and that is the basis for your bad review, you should just have a lawyer on call because you can't even do your own due diligence on a website. I went on this site, the FIRST thing I did was look to see what "free" meant, because guess what folks, nothing is free. I went to the help section with FAQ's and right there says "how much does law documents cost?" and then you can see that there is a charge of $33 monthly after free trial, or stand alone docs cost $X, or a flat fee for the whole year. An attorney will charge $250- $500 per HOUR to draft one of these documents. So boo hoo you have to pay what $30 for a document. So what. My basis on any review would be, is the legal document legit? And I might even put it in front of an attorney and pay for an hour to have him validate it. Its a legal document. unless you're using it to buy and sell lemonade stands, it could potentially save you or protect you from a huge liability. And then what's a couple bucks for a "free" document? Nothing

After spending several minutes filling out a "free" document I was then directed to give them my credit card information.
Don't believe them...nothing's free!

Law Depot is a TOTAL SCAM. I used them for a onetime form which I paid for no free service. They crammed my account for a year and a half. I didn't notice (stupid me) when I did I went to my credit card company they got them to reverse 3 months and were supposed to cancel my service. Of course, they continued charging me. I just now got off the phone with them and the credit card company and they finally cancelled my account. I'm sure that this isn't the end of this. I will check all my credit card statements in detail each month. I will also put complaints about this company everywhere I can a $20.00 form cost me $500. They say they don't even know or track when and if you use their service. What internet company wouldn't. It's important info.

I'm not going to say there is anything unethical about the options which LawDepot provides for obtaining a document. After years of internet commerce experience I find it quite common to have to take care in noting the requirement to cancel a subscription prior to a designated cancellation cut-off date. Unfortunately, what I do consider obnoxious is the ubiquitous use by companies such as this of having visitors be greeted with a predominant banner reading FREE Document then spending time to fill out the entire form only to find at the end that I still must register and either agree to a paid or free registration, the latter of which will require my remembering to cancel or be indebted.

If only the companies were up front about this requirement would it be acceptable to me. Without exception my instinct is to simply close that tab and search for another and more transparent company offering the same services. One that I would be willing to register with if only they disclose it without coercion. Unfortunately years of experience for e-commerce companies has proven that all too many people are willing to ultimately become a willing or unwitting paying customer. As for myself, these companies simply get added to my blocked URLs list.

LawDepot / Sequiter documents not provided in time

I paid for an affidavit on LawDepot.com. I filled out the information, paid for the fee, with the 'peace of mind' provision. Then tried to access the document. I wasn't able to do so. I tried their immediate on line support, but it was not available. I tried their phone line, but they were closed, then I sent an email and got an auto reply stating that they would get back to me in 2 business days. I needed the document IMMEDIATELY. I had to have it signed and noterized by a person who was there that day only. I could not get the document printed as it wouldn't show up for me to print and I couldn't reach the support people.

I had to go back to my search page and pay for another service to provide the affidavit...which strangly enough, I was able to get in a matter of minutes at 1/3 the price of LawDepot.com

I tried to contact them to get a refund, however it seems that their refund policy just doesn't exist...even if thier system wasn't able to provide the document or service requested. So essentially they can charge you, but are not promising to provide the document, by their own refund policy.

I suggest that no one use this service.

I wanted to try the seven FREE trial, when I went to cancel my account Law depot wanted to charge me a month subscription. Besides, gave me a hard to sign in. I would like the fee returned to credit card account. I promise never to use you company or refer anyone again. I was very disappointed.
