Lapeer Family Dental review: Dishonest Practices 1

I received a collections bill in the mail regarding a past due balance. I was surprised to receive this letter because I always pay for my dental work the day I have the work done. I called Lapeer Family Dental to inquire about the letter (which incidentally was the first and only past due summons I had received) and was told that it was a bill for an unpaid balance on work that was done on my daughter two years prior to the letter being sent, and a balance on work done on me nine months before the bill was sent. I was told that I had been given a "special cleaning." When I questioned the authorization of this "special cleaning, " I was immediately rebuffed by the woman on the phone, and when I questioned why I wasn't informed about past due charges on my daughter's account for a two year period, I was told that there must have been a paperwork error, and I owed this money. I find the whole incident to be a bit shady and dishonest. I do not know how to handle the situation at this point. I am making payments on this bill, but I truly do not feel that I actually owe them this money. Suggestions? Maureen Hirth
