Klmn Readers Services Magazines never received

We live in Colorado, and payed for 2 magazines on July 11, 2015. The check has been cashed. Still waiting on the magazines, the receipts states "first issue should be received within 120 days". Well, it's now over 20 weeks and no magazines. I've called numerous times, and only get a voicemail and no call back. Their site is not online. The person selling the magazines is Kenneth Turner. I've issues a complain with the Better Business Bureau as well, and of course, they never received a response back from the company. Total scam, and we are out $200.

Klmn Readers Services Magazine subscriptions....where is it?

A young man came to my door on March 15, 2011. We talked a bit about who he was and the service he provided. He was from Detroit, and had grown up in a rough neighborhood, and was searching for a way out of the hopelessness that occupied his home town by selling magazine subscriptions for this company, KLMN Readers Services, Inc., out of Chesapeake, VA. As I looked over the subscription list that he held out to me, I did not notice any magazines that I read, but I wanted to help this young man in a positive way as he was starting out on his road in life, so I asked him if he had a subscription for Rolling Stone Magazine. A magazine who's articles are intelligent and thought provoking. I myself already had a magazine subscription to Rolling Stone, but I thought I would purchase a subscription for my Son, whom had just graduated from the University of Oregon and was now living in Portland. I paid Mr. Daniels, the young representative of KLMN Readers Services, Inc. $70.00, and I have yet to receive any magazine. I have called, repeatedly, the company, and have yet to receive a call back. It's not really the money, It's just sad that our world seems to be going in such a sadly dishonest direction. I'll stop at the Attorney General's Office here in Salem, OR., and submit a complaint so that this company no longer does business in this state, and I would hope that other's with similar situations does the same. That is the only way to stop these type of business activities.

We just had "two upstanding young gentlemen" come to the door to sell magazines. My husband politely declines. The "upstanding young gentlemen" then went next door...where the lady of the house told them nicely they didn't want solicitors and that if they didn't have a permit they needed to leave the neighborhood. The "upstanding young gentlemen" proceeded to yell at her (heard it from my house!) and say, "What? You don't want ###s on your lawn? You don't like ###s? Well there's a ### in the White House."

Yeah...that's some upstanding young salesmen.

15 minutes later we caught them checking out the back ends of pick up trucks parked alongside the road.

It has been over 6 months since these scammers came to my home. In fact, I saved both the canceled check and the receipt for the magazine subscription and submitted them to the Better Business Bureau. At the date of this writing (15 March 2013), the company has not responded to the BBB claim against them.

My advice is to help people in legitimate ways, which is certainly not giving money to these thieves.

Hello! My name is Antoine Brown, I worked for this company for a little over 3 years, That city or state wont stop our company from doing business there for the simple fact that first you cant blame everyone in the company for one man mistake, and two the State Commerce Law. I know Mr. Daniels from Detroit. I don't believe that he or the company has taken your money. If you look at your two receipts You'll see an area where the agent signed his or her name and there ID number. Right underneath that is an area that states that the publications could take up to 120 days, that's a 4 month wait period from the day the order was processed. If you have any further questions, comments, or concerns. Call Mr. Whitely The CEO of the company [protected] and have your receipts ready.

I ordered Thomas and Friends magazine for my son back on 28 September 2009 and still haven't received anything. Come to find out my $42 was a scam. I am so pissed about it. That is why I put a note on my door to not knock or ring if anyone is selling magazines or vacuum cleaners because if so they will meet the end of my loaded gun!

Klmn Readers Services Dishonest company

Klmn readers services, inc. A / k / a universal subscription agency, inc. Has some serious problems. They want to sell you magazines. They will attempt to do so by targeting well - off neighborhoods with kids who tell sob stories of being in accidents, jail, from broken homes, etc. , and selling magazines is the way they can improve their lot in life.

If their story doesn't appeal to the good samaritan nature in you, the sales person will call you a racist. . . As most of their targets are white and the salespeople are not. This is a lame attempt in bating the target into making a purchase.

They'll also start throwing bible verses at you too. Nothing is wrong with the bible but i seem to remember a little story about jesus coming unglued when faced with people making a profit off of god's name. It also reminds me of crooks and politicians who suddenly get all religious when they get busted.

At any rate, having worked my way out of a tough background myself, i could relate and wanted to help the salesperson out. I ordered some magazines. Later that night i realized i was paying double the normal subscription price. In addition to the exorbitant cost, there is a commission for the salesperson added on top of the already doubled cost. Wouldn't one normally expect to receive a discount from someone who says they are tight with the publisher. . . Not paying double plus a fee?

Obviously, i cancelled in writing the next day. I got my refund check 60 days later. I also noticed the refund check is for less than the actual price paid. The back of the order form says i may cancel this transaction without penalty. However, they took another 15% from my refund!

Trying to contact this company other than via snail mail is pointless. They have a telephone but the vox mail box s chronically full. How else can one determine if it as scam. . . Using the government's criteria as a guide, there is not contact information listed on their website, it's hard to contact the company, they have a poor bbb profile, a "f" rating in fact (Http: / / www. Bbb. Org / norfolk / business - reviews / magazines - sold - door - to - door / universal - subscription - agency - in - chesapeake - va - [protected]) , and the information contained on the website is full of misspelled words and horrible grammar (Http: / / www. Klmnreaders.com / about%20us. Htm) .

Please do yourself a favor. . . Don't let these salespeople taunt you and call you names - - like "racist". Just politely decline the offer and shut the door. Avoid doing business with klmn readers services, inc. A / k / a universal subscription agency, inc.

Same here. I ordered a subscription for a birthday present for my son, to help "a good cause". The receipt even says wait 120 days, which means the check will of course clear. I waited until after the time was up then have called EVERY SINGLE DAY during business hours sometimes 4 or 5x. It ALWAYS goes to voice mail. I have left multiple messages and haven't had a return call yet. I've complained to BBB. That's when I found out that they lost a class action lawsuit. I wish I knew ahead of time. They need to be sued again and put out of business.

FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD. Same story. I ordered 1 magazine for $46 for a 'good' cause that I paid for by check. It was a large print Reader's Digest for my mom. No magazine after 5 months. Started calling them after 60 days and the phone number always went to voicemail. I've called them 4 times in the last couple of months. RIP OFF. I should have read all of these comments before...yikes.

Yep this company ripped me off as well. $35 for a magazine subscription that we never received. This is scandalous. There are complaints about them all over the internet. Is anyone going to take legal action against KLMN?

Add me to the list of "good guys" trying to help out the "inner city kids" by buying a couple of magazines...only to be screwed over. Purchased 2 subscriptions in June/July of 2013 and paid the kids money. Didn't notice until a few days later that they had dated my receipts 6 months ahead, so 1/13/14. Of course, the magazines NEVER show up. My receipts have a phone number of [protected] hand written on them. After getting zero help from their listed #, I start calling the hand written one, which turns out to be Michael Whitely, who (according to the internet) is the president. I've blown his phone up and get promises that he'll take care of it personally, and will get me a refund. I've documented the calls and he's failed to follow through every single time. Big mistake giving me the president's number (apparently a personal cell) because though I'll never likely get my money back...I'll call these thief at all hours on the night and day until I either get bored or die. I'd suggest you others do the same.

I too bought a magazine in April of 2013. It now January 2014. I have yet to receive my first issue. I have left numerous voicemail messages and emails with no responses. My next step will be all social media. I will call our local news station, the Virginia Attorney General's Office, and finally the Better Business Bureau. Ticked off in California!

On 9/14/12, I was approached in my neighborhood of Fort Collins, Colorado, by two well-dressed young black males from Memphis, Tennessee named Brian Glasper and Terrance Burks. They complained endlessly of the racism of our community, so I foolishly ordered three magazine subscriptions totalling $205.00. Needless to say, I have never received any magazines, in spite of numerous e-mails and calls to KLMN.
I filed a Complaint, with copies of receipts and cancelled checks, with the BBB and also with the Virginia Attorney General's Office. The BBB closed the complaint because KLMN did not respond. PLEASE FILE AN ONLINE COMPLAINT WITH THE VIRGINIA ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE BY CLICKING ON "CONSUMER PROTECTION."

I wish now I would have done a better job doing a background check on this company. Like most people a very nice, well dressed young man came to my door saying he was trying to work out his life and go to college. He gave me his company address, I looked them up and I thought everything was fine. It’s been 5 months and still no magazine. I have made multiple calls to this company with no response. I am not letting this die though. I have contacted the police dept in Va and my local police for fraud. I am hoping that if enough people do this it will shut this company down! Good luck to all who are nice enough to open their doors and their hears for these kids….

I was approached at my door by Vido Davis ID Number 7753 with KLMN Reader Services back in April of this year, 2012. I live in Des Moines, IA. He gave me his poor ghetto boy song and dance and I felt sorry for him, invited him in and gave him something to eat plus bought a subscription for Backpacker Magazine. He too asked me for an umbrella, I declined since I only own one. Total out of pocket expenses $53.00. Four months later and still I have no magazines. Their voicemail box is full, no response to my messages requesting a refund. I seriously doubt I ever will receive either my magazines or my money back. Next time one of these jokers comes to my door they will be asked to leave, first time very politely, next time not so politely. Hope you are proud of yourself Vido Davis. You will become the worthless lying thief that you are practicing so hard to be just like your slimy, low down lying boss, Michael Whitley.
