KinderCare Education worst service ever

I have worked in the child care field for almost 30 years. Kindercare is by far the worst I have ever been employed at.

There are so many complaints that I don't know where to begin. The director at this center was all about the money and keeping upper management happy. I don't think she ever spent any time in a room unless she was giving a teacher a bathroom break. She was rude to staff and rude to parents. I believe he only reason she is still the director is because she cuts staff hours, and orders the worst and cheapest food possible for the children. There are never enough materials for the children to do art and she turns a deaf ear to staff who call the children "###, slow or ***" Something needs to be done about this center...Fire the Director!

KinderCare Education - termination

I worked at KinderCare for almost two years before I was let go in April 2009. I had a lot of concerns with the center I worked at prior to my termination. These concerns happened when we switched center directors in early 2008. This particular center director transferred from another center nearby. From that point on, I was out of ratio on days when I had...

KinderCare Education - horrible place to work for and to send your child to

I have worked for KinderCare for over a year now. I came to them after my other center was closed due to the failing economy. I thought that working for KinderCare, a company with such a reputable name...the largest provider of childcare in the country, would be fantastic. Boy, was I completely WRONG! I guess I'm glad to see that the same crap is going on...

KinderCare Education treats their employees like [censored]

My daughter worked at Kindercare in Chandler, AZ for 8 months. Even at first she concerns about their motives, there seemed to be much contradiction in procedures between staff and employee. But what really got me was this; When any of the girls (employees)needed to use the restroom they would call in to the staff office via intercom requesting a "code blue" (potty break). The staff would make them wait 30, 40, 60 minutes before sending someone or come themselves to relieve the employee. One time my daughter was waiting when a fellow teacher came in and covered for her so that she could go to the restroom, on her way she stopped at the office to ask why no one had responded only to see the "staff" sitting on the desk laughing to each other about how long they should make her wait. When asked, the staff said "oh is that silly intercom not working again, ha-ha"...Now, my daughter is a level headed Christian girl, full time college student with no reason to make up or add drama to something like this, and there were many more other things that happened, I could go on. Best thing I could recommend is to not take your children there or seek employment there..

I also worked at kindercare and when I had to potty I would have to wait til I got off work. I was always told "you can wait, you r only here for 2 hours anyway".

KinderCare Education disrespectful

I'm just writing this complaint because the Managers are disrespectful, not understanding, teachers are rude, do not tell the truth and only want to make themselves happy. The directors just sit in the office and talk to each other and talk on the phone to whoever-like their really working themselves.

I would never want to work there or have my child go here either. I hate this place!

KinderCare Education unfriendly staff and poor mangement

The problem with KinderCare is they are a large business and they have lost sight of what is truly important. They want to make money, just like all huge businesses. I have worked for them for 5 years and have noticed that each year it gets worse. It's not so much the staff, honestly. We're just following orders because we, too, need our jobs. As far as unfriendly staff complaints, you all SHOULD say something or leave. Each center belongs to a larger district- call the District manager if your director is the clueless one. You would be surprised at how many parents do not say hi to me when I say good morning to them. Also understand we are human...we have a company that cuts corners to make money. Sometimes I am left with 18 three year-olds by myself, so, yes, I too have probably not noticed a child who has had an accident. If your child isn't coming home with art or work, it's probably because the center has no art supplies. I used to buy my own, but the company has not given us raises in two years so I cannot afford it any more. I can't speak for all centers and teachers, but the staff at our center LOVES your children. We could all be doing something else that pays a decent salary but we are there because we want to be. If we seem crabby and mean, try to remember that?

KinderCare Education ugly encounter

Just had an ugly encounter with the director of kindercare in greenville nc- leteisha byrd. Was talk to like I knew nothing and she was the queen of know it all. Kindercare needs to seriously look at each employee as a face of the business not some ghetto corner ***. If I were a women she would have worn an *** whipping about 30 minutes ago. I feel sorry for those kids because if she will talk to an adult like that you know she is worse with the kids. The sad thing is that the lady not in charge I spoke with first was very nice and helpful. Another case of the wrong person in charge and getting paid more to *** on people.

KinderCare Education lack of respect to families and staff

This is the absolute worst company to work for. I have been a teacher for 2 years at this particular center, and the teachers and staff are treated so unfairly. The director and assistant director act like they are God's gift to families, when in reality, they are nightmares. They lie to all the families just to earn trust, and they treat the children badly too. Children are switched from classroom to classroom each day, and when they have behavior issues, we are left to deal with them on our own, without they support we need from management. Maybe if these children had more stability in our center, the behavior issues wouldn't seem like such a big deal. Staff's hours are constantly cut, and most do not even get an 8 hour work day, but are forced to take 2-3 hour breaks. It's sick. When an issue comes up that you need help with, you are told to deal with it and that they won't help out. Children who have learning disabilities are forced to be ignored, because they do not want to deal with the families and don't want to invest in their futures. They are so wrapped up with themselves. How can we expect to be professional, when the management lacks that skill?

I deal with the same thing. My center is a mess. Children will be crying and begging to stay in my class room, where they belong but instead of having 1 of the many extra staff hanging outside smoking to come work with me so i can stay in ratio, I am forced to move kids into another classroom. It breaks my heart. I adore these kids, but i cant stand working for Kindercare. The heat has been broken in our room for 4 weeks now. I have to wear a jacket and so do the kids, we have fleas in the carpet, we dont have the right materials for the curriculum because of the budget. I sometimes go out to craft stores and will buy items so my kids can learn and have fun and not do the same thing everyday. It upset me to know that these directors still get away with it all.

I worked for a Kindercare for 11 years. I was fired because I gave the wrong bottle to a baby. I am not disputing my firing. I know I had to be fired. BUT other girls did the same thing and were not fired. I was fired because we got a new director who was a lot stricter. She just wanted her own people in. Funny thing is all the friends she hired did not work out. We also had a woman who left a child on a bus and the child had to go into emergency and she was not fired. My hrs. were either cut or I had to work over. I was never able to go at my allotted time. We had to totally suck up to parents to the extent of lying to them. The director would tell them of services offered that were totally never offered. Bottom line, it's a business. It's all about the money not the kids. They will take anyone, even kids who should be in special schools, with autism, etc. Kids we were not educated to work with. Just for the money. I am glad I am out. I miss the kids but sick of all the corporate stuff we had to put up with. Who cares if the bulletin boards are a certain color for God sakes?

I work in the same environment as these fellow Kindercare workers. I've been with this facility for 5 years now and it has only gotten worse. I have been working in this field pretty close to 20+ years now and yet, I have the hardest time understanding the "Kindercare Shuffle"...I was taught that young children need consistency! They need to feel safe and secure in their environment and I thought that was what good quality childcare is all about...? It's my opinion that Kindercare has lost sight of this...again, we all know that the higher the ratio (of children-teachers), the lower the quality of care. Hello? What book did Corp. study from? Yes, I can understand in our present economy there's a need to cut costs here and there, but when working with young children whom spend the better part of the day with us, shouldn't we be trying to create an environment that is nurturing and safe and conducive to learning? As a teacher, how can I expect a child who is crying 'cuz he wants to be with "his" teacher, to learn anything? I feel for those children that are (still undiagnosed) with disabilities...change is the last thing those children need. If you stop and look at some of the behavior problems/acting out...it's a young child saying, "I don't like it here!" Don't even get me started with any type of "fairness" with our management and employees. There is such blantant favoritism that I even called Corp. to question/adddress the issue. Has anything been done? Now our CD has caught wind of those of us who are applying and interviewing at other schools...and she wants to know why? Moral is low and she created it by playing her "favorite" and then allowing this person to walk around for 8 hrs trying to look busy because she only has 5 children enrolled in her class. If I only had 5 in my class, I'd be sent home! But not this person...a full 8 hour shift! But those of us that actually work with a full class, our hours are cut to no more than 7 hours...if that. And then the "quality of expectation in the classroom"...how can we achieve that if our hours are cut and the children we have in our classrooms are not age appropriate? What can a teacher accomplish in a classroom mostly comprised of three yr. olds when the ciriculum is set for Pre-K?
How can we "enhance" our classrooms when we're not in it? These issues really need to be addressed and I've tried to use our "employee hotline" but I guess they must really busy. Hmmmmm.

I completely agree...I have worked for Kindercare for 3 years now and in the last year have gotten a new director and then what is now an assistant director. My director hired this girl, who got fired from another daycare facility and is under investigation for child abuse/neglect...she was hired making more then everyone and then was promoted and supposed to be helping with NAEYC, but somehow became management and doesnt even have her CDA yet? Yet i was forced to take the classes otherwise i would have lost my classroom, and i love my kids...my boss is useless and we complain about the child abuser but nothing ever gets done about her...the company itself treats us employees like crap also...has anyone seen a raise in the last three years, i know no one at my center has...

I worked at this center and when i took my FMLA to have my baby i was told i did not have a job any more by the new director jan clark. When she found out that i went above her head she said i could come back for 1 hr 3x a week. The mang is a joke here and they have had 5 directors in the past 6 years. Dont get me started on mary rossi the DM. She acts like your friend and tells the center director everything you told her.

KinderCare Education horrible business

On a fixed income? KLC doesn't accommodate the parents at all. Per corporate they have up to 90 days to can cash multiple checks and will do it all at once and if you have delinquent balance in your accounts, it's your fault you don't have enough money in the bank. I do NOT recommend KLC. Horrible!

KLC closes the daycare for full day training for their staff, why, it's not a holiday or an observance. The training days should not be scheduled in the middle of the week to inconvenience the parents. It should be on the weekends or at night. Horrible!

If you wrote multiple checks and they didnt cash them...why would you spend the money you had to cover the check? Did you think you just had free money lying around? I have been reading many checking account complaints...smh...so many people think if you dont cash my check RIGHT NOW, I can spend the money. It doesnt work like that be responsible and keep track of your own money.

KinderCare Education stole my money

Kindercare, St. Charles Road, Lombard, IL. Made me pay $35 for a Thanksgiving week "program" that's just 1 field trip and two days of "themed activities" I didn't ask for or know about in advance. If my child attends during Thanksgiving week, I have to pay extra. If she doesn't attend, I still have to pay the weekly tuition - for only three days of care because of the holiday. Mean, mean people. I already didn't know how I was going to pay for Christmas. Obviously, they don't care. Besides that, their facility always looks dirty and dingy.

KinderCare Education - child care

I have never in my life been more disappointed with a day care facility in my life. I have two daughters (six and seven)that I enrolled in Kinder Care in the middle of August 2009 and they currently attend Kinder Care for the before and after school care. Through the years my daughters have attended 3 other day cares and Kinder Care is the first one that I...

KinderCare Education terrible day care

This is the worst place to allow your child to go, this was the ONLY day care that ABANDONDED all the children that go there from dabbs school the day the schools let out for the hurricane ike when it was coming. ALL other day cares picked up the children except this one. You can check the school records to confirm this. They also will hold it against you for telling them your child is going to go elsewhere for summer activities as ours did. When we called back we were told "you just took off on us" like we were some sort of lost dog. There are also complaints about the staff there as well, with documented complaints about how the staff has told our child terrible things about thier mother and just been rude in general to small children.

KinderCare Education childcare

My kids have constantly been sick since day1. The facility isnt very clean and smells. All the teachers say " they would NEVER NEVER put their child there" which makes me fell worst! The turn over in staff is enormous your child has no consistency with familar faces not to mention new germs to get immuned to. The menu is TERRIBLE! My child comes home plenty of days starved without being offered any alternatives. Another parent said her infant want fed tuna on buttered toasted bread. I was told they werent alternates. The staff isnt polite, no manners, noone greets you with a "good am/pm". My children constantly come home with urinated clothes without any assistance to the bathroom for proper skincare/hygiene or many incidents of noone taking them or too lazy to take them. I never recieve individual feedback on my kids educational concerns or progress;an outdated board is periodically changed with a new lesson. On field trip days the kids wear shirts that arent specifically designated for them, it was not informed by parents that they are worn, nor being sent home, and washed theyre kept at the center. Afterschool ages are not assisted with homework or encouraged with academics. It consists of minial crafts and a lot of, "do what you want time". The facilty has been provided a "clueless" subsitute director for months. Other parents whose preK kids went off to K5 were below average in their class. The assistant director sent a resignition letter home to parents the day before.

The Director of the Shannon Park Kindercare in Rosemount Minnesota 2009 is the most horrible woman I have even seen. She lets her employees working benieth her put soiled clothes in the kids back-pacs without informing the parent. She breaks all kinds of health code laws. The center is always filthy looking and the kids are let to run around without anyone making sure they washed. This very bad director of Shannon Parkway Kindercare even as much as raises her voice with even the parents who are comming in late from snow emergencies. Imagine what she is allowing to happen to all those children she is supposed to be talking care of! Never will any children of mine go to a place so emotionally destructive, unclean, neglectful, and disgusting. My instincts and expieriences along with another mother pulling her kid from the center because they were doing the same to her child (plus not feeding her properly) is enough hopfully to save any other child/parent from going through this agony.

Kindercare is too big. They can not hire the best teachers because of the low pay scale. It is hard to keep a good center director because they are asked to do so much. Kindercare talks of being professional, but hhye do not give the center director the tools to be professional. The payroll is so tight that assistants are in the classroom more than in the office. The center director is cooking and or on a bus run. The center director does not get in the classroom enough because they are so busy to train and supervise the staff.

If you do not get a solution to your problem call licensing over and over until you do.

KinderCare Education concerns

Continous issues: Kids in the infant and toddler rooms, continously put more than 4-1 while other staff come in! As a parent, you do not see this unless you stick around for more than 2 minutes. My child has become very aggressive since being at this site (toddlers fight with each other and some teachers do not pay attention, too busy changing diapers or talking to other staff). My child is always sick since starting kindercare (rooms are freezing during the day).

Rooms being cold can be a good thing. Bacteria does not like it cold. Sickness can be from a new place with new germs or it can be that the staff is not sanitizing properly. It can be that the toys are never sanitized. If a teacher sees a toy in Bill's mouth it should be picked up and sanitized before anyone uses it.

Center Directors can also not be sending kids home that have a fever, vomiting, or runny bowel movements. If they do send home most will not require them to stay home for 24 after fever is gone. They are afraid of upseting a parent and possible disenrollment.

Check how they handle sanitation. Most centers are not professional cleaned and if they are it is only a few days a week. The teachers are expected to clean the floors, sinks, and bathrooms. They are not given extra time to do this so expect that when they should be watching your child they are cleaning the potty. Did they wear gloves or wash hands?
Watch them change diapers. They have on gloves, but keep changing with the same gloves until they finish the group. WATCH WATCH WATCH

KinderCare Education mistreated

I would not at all recommend Kindercare daycare in any state... The problems are everywhere. MY kids attend kindercare right now trying to find another daycare. As i was picking up my kids a teacher picked up a lil toddler by one arm. Yelled at him in the process... I told the director and she didn't report anything! So i went to the district manager all they can say is sorry. Well I think theres enough reviews on here to convice parents not to bring your kids to kindercare. They really don't care. there are only two teachers that are really good at this center...

They don't report anything and they try to hide what happened with the teacher. She finally got fired but i'm not done yet i'm going to the top of the top! They think i'm just going to let everything slide well they can think again ! Were talking about OUR kids here... Their more worried about getting there money! well all i have to say is my kids are WAY more important than that... I don't know what else to do. the director that was there had to leave.. THe BEST director anyone could ask for... I don't care what head quaters has to say but i thought they should know that they will never find one like her. i'm not going to sit here and write a whole story i could go on forever... but child abuse at kindercare is there and they don't seem to take it seriously.. wow they fired the teacher barely when this happened almost a month ago...

Don't recommend this place at all!

KinderCare Education not the best service

Hi have my child there and has been there over 4 months, the issues I have seen is they put toddlers 12-24 month old children with babies for hours at a time (while other staff come in) and the toddlers step on the babies alot! Babies are put in bumbos when they are not asleep (when asleep they are in their cribs) and the bumbos are put in the same play area with toddlers. Time and time again I saw my child stepped on by toddlers (painful because toddlers all walk and wear shoes). Toddlers are always stepping on the babies because they are still learning to walk and fall alot. The next thing is that their staff turnaround is high and my child has seen about 5 different teachers in 4 months. The weekly fee is $244 plues 100 registration every year. If your child is sick or diarah... you have to keep them home. Some teachers are great though. I still have my child there because home care can be worse.

KinderCare Education care of children and staff

Absolute and utter lack of care for children and staff! I Currently work at a Portland Kindercare facility, there is no attention payed to staff about concerns or complaints regarding best care practices of children. It is a "baby meat market", all they care about is the bottom line. Which is the max child capacity to teacher ratio. Children are moved from room to room all day long, whatever benefits the center. I am an infant teacher in a room sectioned for babies 6 weeks to 6 months. Our room is licensed for 8 children, my co-teacher and I take care of 8 infants. A 1 to 4 teacher to child ratio is not only hard it is absolutely unreal. Your child is lucky to even have their basic needs met i.e. diapers, feeding, naps, there is no time for anything outside of this. I am payed slightly above minimum wage and my children's parents pay nearly $1, 500 a month for a full-time child. This equates to the harsh reality that I make $1, 000 (after taxes) a month working 40 hour weeks. Thus, I am payed for taking care of one child and the center has the other three for profit. There is no support from management nor care for the childs needs by my employers. It is a get them in get them out enterprise. All centers have this problem, this is the second kindercare I have worked for. With Oregon's 10.8 percent unemployment rate I am stuck in this job. I just absolutely stress to you to never work for this company and never ever send your child into any of these facilities. I am an educated young woman of age 23, just a 12 credits shy of earning a Bachelor of Science degree at Portland State University majoring in Psychology. Once again please hire a nanny or stay home with your child, you have to work it out. Attachment forms from 0 to age 3, this means your child's attachment to you is critical during this time! Children do not need social stimulation at this time as much as they need their mother or father.

KinderCare Education terrible place to send your child

MY child attended this center in the one year old room and was sent home on a weekly basis with numerous incident reports of him being injured(sometimes no report, just cuts and bruises). I met with district directors and center directors and no change was made. The teachers here lack responsibilty and have rather chit chat with eachother than watch your children. The ceneter director has no authority and the assistant director acts as though she has no clue what goes on at her center. Bottom line if you care about your child's safety DO NOT SEND THEM TO KINDERCARE!

I agree. I used to work as a pre-k teacher at a Kindercare. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Education and was paid very little, but A LOT was expected of me. Kindercare is all about the money. It is THE hardest job in the world and I don't think people realize that. The demands on the director and the teachers are unreasonable... I was alone with 10 children every day and got out ONCE to go to the bathroom and that is it. I was always over ratio and was expected to do all of my lesson plans and enhancements at home. I made $10/hr.. I paid $60, 000 for my education.

Knowledge Learning Corporation and Children's World were great compamies to work for, but after the merger with Kindercare money became the only inportant thing. The people the Center Director mostly cares deeply for the children in her care, but the company makes demands of her that are unrealistic. She is saddled with a payroll number to meet that would require her to be out of ratio. The Center Director fears the day someone is out because of overworking her employees or being out of ratio, but on the other hand she is overjoyed that she might meet her payroll for the week.

The enhancement programs are not her your children, they are a way to increase the Kindercare bottomline. The compnay pushes the Center Directors to enrolll children in the extra programs that will cost you $100 or more each month and cost the company about a fourth of that. What are they doing with the children all day? Don't you pay enough to expect that the teacher will be doing some type of instruction with your child?

Yes, mam'm, I agree. Although I truly love the women in my center I do feel as you do...the director has no authority. She must go to the district manager FOR EVERYTHING!
Our district manager is over 11 centers. It is unfortunate that she is the one the company allowed to fire ME as she is only here once or twice a week. SHE doesn't know me. She heard me say DAMN once..I apologized. No problem. Yet that was noted on my termination report.
What has happened to companies that support their employees?
Most sincerely, Pam

KinderCare Education awful experience

Dear Cameo and others who have had bad experiences in KinderCare, My advice is this; I have been employed in the administrative field of Child Care for over 15 years, now retired, but ALL parents and employees MUST be made more aware of the 'Parents Rights and Responsibilities' according to the California Dept. of Social Services Title 22.

A good Child Care Center will encourage parents to read this handout, which is required by law at time of enrollment, encourage parental involvement, openly allow the parents to drop in and/or inspect any part of the facility when their child is enrolled in Center and during business hours. They also have the right to observe any and all activities while their child is enrolled.

Yes, as a former preschool teacher I know it can be disruptive, but a good Director should allow for the time and use the visitations as opportunities to monitor teacher/child and parent/teacher/child interactions. There are many other rights parents/employees should be made aware of. They should ask the Center for the handout, read it, and don't hesitate to be your child's advocate. Who else will be?

I have unfortunately been personally affected by the KinderCare @ 9945 Slater Ave., Fountain Valley, CA. The 'behind the scenes' Directors' decisions make a mockery out of Directorship. The Corporate policies are altered at whim. Scheduling is critical to running a good center, however, their scheduling continuously disrupts the classrooms, moving teachers, sometimes several times a day, interrupting learning, causing undue fear and anxiety when their structure is routinely changed. This is paramount and all GOOD Directors know this.

A Child needs structure and stability to feel secure. Teachers too, are disrupted, moving from one class to another at a moments' notice, trying in instantly familiarize themselves with the children and vice versa, which is very emotional and confusing for a young 1, 2, 3, or 4-5 year old. KinderCare is stripping the children of a proper days' learning and fun, as their motto says. They are cheating the parents, by taking their money, but not giving what has been promised.

The illnesses are exceedingly out of hand and again, the Directors' do not follow the policies as set forth by Corporate. Policies are only as good as the employees who enforce them. At KinderCare, they are applied incongruously to their policies. And to Title 22 Licensing Rqmnts.

Over ratio, under ratio, weakly enforced child well-check and illness policies, Directors ( I say Directors, plural, because they have managed to maintain a extreme high-turnover in employees and directors) coming and going, never encouraged nor monitored by Corporate to supervise the Directors' lack of involvement when ratios are low, very little positive feedback to employees, highly inappropriate comments made in front of subordinates in front of other co-teachers or parents. The facility looks good from the outside, but inside is another story.

It is only because of the intrinsic devotion the teachers have to the children that the teachers stay, and the low pay and bennies, which are not quite what was promised. Parents, Employees, Call the California Dept. of Social Services! Keep documentation, take notes on ratios, dates, times, names, all occurrences of concern and report, report, report.
