I cannot even begin to tell you the problems I have had with kaiser. please do not, if you have any choice at all, choose them as an insurance provider. do not use an hmo at all if possible, especially not kaiser. I also thought they were fine at first. thank god I escaped with my life, only with chronic untreated pain and injury which I was informed was in my head. run do not walk, away from kaiser.

Kaiser Permanente Stay away from this program

I was referred to the Chronic Pain Mgmt. Program by my doctor for chronic pain which turned out to be diagnosed by Darlene as Fibromyalgia and Myofascial Pain Syndrome. On my second appt. with her, at a time when my pain was so bad I couldn't sleep, had daily migraines from the tension pain in my neck and back, and I hadn't been to work in over a week it was so bad, she treated me in such a rude and demeaning manner. I have no faith in her as someone who treats chronic pain, not when she tells someone with my conditions that there is no medical reason for me to be in so much pain, not even considering also the 6 knee surgeries I have had causing so much pain too. She immediately commented that someone as young as me shouldn't have the symptoms I have (I am 39 but look younger).

I tried talking to her about changing my pain med from Tylenol 4 to something stronger. I have been on the Tylenol 4 almost 3 yrs. so it is not working anymore as my body has built up a tolerance to it. She said no and told me that no narcotics would work if the codiene isn't working. When I told her it wasn't working because of tolerance she told me that doesn't happen. She also told me to give her scientific proof that narcotics work for chronic pain. She then proceeded to tell me that I can get a second opinion from an md but that the doctors there do not believe in giving people narcotics and that I will never get narcotics from them. She then said I need to taper off my codiene. I immediately filed a grievance and just found out they denied me stronger meds based on her notes and the fact that two different narcotics haven't helped me. Of course they don't mention that the first narcotic was Darvocet which I was on for more than 4 years before it stopped helping as much and that I was taken off of it because of the high amount of acetaminophen in it. Funny how that equals it not working. Best yet is the fact that the drs who denied my request have never treated me or talked to me.

Darlene basically acted like I was making up the pain, refused to even give me a note for work, and left me sobbing without a word to say she wouldn't be back. She also emphasized the fact that I had yet to go through their 4wk orientation program and made it seem like I refused. I told her I was home in bed with a migraine. She could care less and said I need to do it. I asked what good it would do if I was in too much pain or had a migraine and couldn't get out of bed. No answer to that of course. She also said I was a no show for my second physical therapy appt. Again I was in bed with a migraine and she could care less. I told her it hurt too much to do the exercises and made things worse. She argued about that too. Apparently everything I feel and the pain I am dealing with is just in my head. She knows all and can read minds even it would seem. Never will I go back to her and never will I go to the chronic pain program at south sac kaiser because I feel based on notes she made in my file possibly could I trust a single dr there. Stay away from this program!

I know a couple of kaiser doctors who won't get treated at kaiser. Your doctor is a real ###. Keep working up the food chain and expose them. Go to kpbadnews.com. Get ready for the endless lawsuits against them.

Kaiser Permanente Patient abandonment, violation of elder abuse law

There is a time and place for doctoral degrees, PhD's of law and philosophy, and a time for common sense alone

Let me share with you a situation where common sense was been thrown to the wind with tragic results.

When a simple problem that cries out for mercy and charity presents itself, and instead of running to scripture, we run to our law books, those books which have in America attempted to replace the ten commandments (with over 20, 000 new laws per year, and ten times as many regulations) we are expressing the very hardness, the coldness that is reflected in this story..

The following is a tale of a former football player with a single, simple problem, a problem that begged for a common sense solution.

Instead what we as a society delivered was abandonment, and even cruelty, as Kaiser Permanente's famed Risk Management, Oakland attempted decide not how to reduce risk for an elderly patient, but rather to reduce risk to the millions of dollars that comes into that behemoth every month in the form of premiums, premiums that are then used to discover ways and methods to deprive Kaiser members of the most inexpensive services.

THE STORY.

Approximately three months ago, an elderly man (69 yr old former football player) who had been treated for a deteriorating skeletal condition for ten years, was assigned a temporary replacement
Permanente physician, Dr. Susan Scholey, while his permanent physician, Dr. Gary Rinzler, took a few weeks to rest.

Dr. Scholey decided that, even though X-rays and ten years of ongoing evidence of success with this patient were present, they were insufficient.

Dr. Scholey therefore, placed an assessment requirement before the patient which was not part of the agreement the patient had with his permanent doctor, an assessment that Dr. Scholey could not defend in terms of either science or medical necessity.

Since Dr. Scholey was theoretically in charge in Dr. Rinzler's absence, and since her recommendations to interrupt the ongoing treatment were not overturned by her immediate supervisors, Dr. Scholey terminated care of this elderly patient, including all medications.

Upon the return of Dr. Rinzler to the scene, he attempted to simply take back the patient and resume care. However, Drs Scholey, Midgley, Isaacs and Pearl evidently had decided that the independent assessment was necessary.

That being the case, the patient found the time resources to comply, since the assessment was now being recommended by Dr. Rinzler, if only so that he could resume care. The patient therefore underwent the assessment with Permanente physician, Dr. Kegang Hu.

As the patient knew he would, Dr. Hu agreed wholeheartedly with Dr. Rinzler that the treatments being provided to the patient for ten years were appropriate.

However, when the patient then asked to be returned to Dr. Rinzler's care as agreed, Dr. Scholey advised everyone that the matter had been referred to Permanente RISK MANAGEMENT, in Oakland, CA.

So, now we have a patient paying $5, 000 in premiums, still only wanting to resume his decade long medical regimen, having complied with an unnecessary assessment, still being denied the only medical services Kaiser Permanente was providing to him for this premiums.

Actions taken by the patient's Medical Representative thus far:

Medical Licenses of Drs. Scholey, Midgley, Isaacs and Pearl have been reported to the Medical Board of California. The Charge: Violation of the Elder Abuse Laws and Patient Abandonment.

Kaiser Permanent has been reported to the California Department of Managed Health Care for the same violations of law.

The patient himself has repeated constantly that the only thing he requires is a return to the regimen that several physicians prior to Dr. Scholey felt was perfectly appropriate.

It is amazing all the staff time expended and agony generated when the resolution of this issue has always been so simple: Return the patient to the regimen that was in place prior to Dr. Susan Scholey deciding for non-medical, non-scientific reasons that an interruption was appropriate.

The patient has unilaterally indicated to anyone who will listen that he has backed away from a consideration of litigation, and simply and humbly continues to request that the simple treatment for his deteriorating skeletal condition be resumed under the direction of Dr. Gary Rinzler.

Not that it is particularly relevant, but to follow up on the football comment above. The condition was the result of a violent illegal back block during a football game that caused the compromised spinal condition initially. At that time, those kinds of hits were legal.

AGAIN THE SOLUTION IS SIMPLE: A RETURN TO WHAT WAS THREE MONTHS AGO BEFORE DR. SUSAN SCHOLEY decided an elderly man didn't deserve to have his suffering ameliorated.

That the Permanente Medical Group has chosen to ignore this patient's pain and legitimate need in the face of several evaluations which support the patient's long term regimen is testimony that, when an organization loses contact with the human aspects of medicine, all sorts of abuses are possible.

As of this writing, this elderly man, 69 years of age, is without medical services of any kind. He is currently paying Kaiser Permanente $5, 000 in premiums for absolutely nothing.

Isn't there a word for that someone in America?

Kaiser Permanente Appointments

What is up with Kaiser's appointments. My mother in law has Kaiser health insurance through her job. She is currently suffering with depression and anxiety last month March 2011 she scheduled an appointment she was scheduled for a month after her booking it. She just went two day's ago and even when she explained to whoever scheduled her appointment, that she was suffering from depression and anxiety, they made her appointment with a THERAPIST!..So the therapist could not prescribe her anything or help her at all, the only think the THERAPIST said to her was that she needs to see a psychologist and they gave her an appointment until JUNE 2011! what in the world. This other time she was suffering from back problems to the extend of her not being able to go to work... and Kaiser gave her an appointment that was scheduled 4 weeks after she called. Then they took an X-ray of her back and told her she would get the results in 2 weeks. MAN KAISER TAKES FOR EVER TO GIVE YOU APPOINTMENTS! I cant believe government insurance like medical and medicare takes less time to give you appointments . I have medical for low income families and I call my Dr. one day and I see him the next.

Kaiser Permanente Fraud; abuses; human rights violations

To better understand Kaiser Permanente and see the big picture read the following and understand that from its creation by Mr. Edgar Kaiser in 1973, this HMO inherited a "DNA" mutation that made this organization so successful.

"Perhaps the best introduction to the Kaiser HMO and Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Plan is the summary by Mr. Edgar Kaiser that the less Kaiser does for patients the more money it makes. To get the full context one can go to the University of Virginia and review the presentation Mr. Edgar Kaiser (then Kaiser CEO) made to President Nixon through Mr. Erlichman — the less we do the more we earn". “All the incentives are toward less medical care, because—the less care we give them, the more money we make”.

Protect yourself and your family; learn from other victims horror stories. Kaiser Permanente is in business to please the stock holders, NOT its members!
Remember Kaiser Permanente's main policy: “All the incentives are toward less medical care, because the less care we give them, the more money we make”.

Kaiser Permanente has no interest to maintain you healthy!
Is a conflict of interest--they will get broke! Therefore, KP makes more and more billions each year, NOT on maintaining you healthy, BUT on maintaining you SICK!

If you don’t get it, Google my name Marin Pitu, see video(s); check www.kaiserpapers.org and learn how to avoid being a victim of Kaiser Permanente.
Please forward the video(s) to all your friends. Expose and confront Kaiser Permanente’s illegal activities.
Kaiser Permanente HMO: The biggest scheme in the history of mankind.

ALWAYS remember: “All the incentives are toward less medical care, because the less care we give them, the more money we make”
Learn how to maintain you healthy and STOP paying Kaiser Permanente to MAINTAIN YOU SICK!

Read, see video and pictures and hopefully you will understand how America’s biggest health care scheme works!
They will ruin your health and life the way THEY did to me and thousands of other victims!

Kaiser has been stealing funds from me for two years and until just now I did not understand what a sorry health insurance plan I agreed with my employer to participate. My employer will provide an option to switch plan at the end of the year and I will get rid of Kaiser. My suggestion to everyone is not to sign up for Kaiser and if you have the plan GET RID OF IT. These people steal your money like madmen, they do nothing for you. There is a horrible practice of charging you a co-payment prior to your visit with the doctor and you wait TWO HOURS FOR A 1 SECOND VISIT. The doctor just order test after test that you do not need and types rubbish into the computer. There was one moment at Capital Hill in Washington where the security guard did not even open the front door to the hospital and I had to wait upon a patient. The security guard stated, "We get a lot of homeless seeking medical attention and they are not Kaiser members, so you have to enter through the garage or Union Station at night." I asked him if a patient was at the door having a heart attack would you sit and watch as they were not entering through the proper dam door. Another time I met a woman who had lost a leg, but stated she was a Kaiser member for 10 years prior. How can a patient of Kaiser have loss of legs when a member for 10 years what happen to prevention? I hate Kaiser, just hate it, and I am sorry I signed up for the plan. I am thinking about going to court an requesting my funds returned from this fraudulent hospital as they are sending me bills for co-payments that I o not owe since they have never given me any professional care.

Kaiser Permanente Utilization/case management

My wife has been in cuma with branin anueyrism and hemmorage since Dec 11, 2010, the case manager Dot Zautner who was working to get my wife out to rehab before my wife was even discharged, and without any prior consents, conversations, or agreement, she faxed my wife's full medical record to a Rehab Center outside Kaiser operating privatly, then after my complaints about this process a new and worst case manager took over the case her name is Sharon Gray, who started to covering up for Kaiser and the previous case manager Dot, then she was trying to do her best to PUSH my wife out of the hospital to the Rehab Center since January 17th., 2011, however due to my arrguments and fighting back their process and reasons, I was able to keep my wife at the hospital. Sharon Gray continue to harasse me and many times attempted to influence the doctors to sign the discharge letter even when she was removed from my wife's case due to my request. Her removal from handling my wife case was confirmed by her supervisor and manager both Susan Lucero and Viola Davis who spoke with her directly and asked her not to be invloved in any way in my wife's case of transferring to Skilled Nursing Facility SNF, but due to her hate to me and my family, and her discrimination against me due to my Race & Religion she got invloved in the case knowingly she was removed from it, and contacted Dr. Lai plus the SNF to get my wife out of the hospital as of March 21st, she influenced Dr. Lai with her lies, and negative feedback about me, so Dr. Lai felt in her trap and signed the discharge letter, which was later over turned.
Sharon Gray has been acting very mean, very unprofessional, and very hatefull to me and my wife and the family, she attempted to do whatever in her power, influence others, gave negative feedback totaly false about me to doctors, nurses, social workers at Kaisers which will be prooven in the court of law after I bring this matter to my counsel very soon, however at this time I am just taking care of my wife, and having the daily challange to be dealing with Kaiser member services and utilizations staff.

Kaiser Permanente Worst pain management course

I started the Pain Management Program after 9 MONTHS! of testing to finally figure out that I have A horrible case of Degenerative Disc Disease. I am in so Much pain that I haven't slept in months. They told me the only cure is a disc replacement surgury that I can get in 10 years from now when they have better technology. After getting the BARE MINIMUM amount of Pain pills even though I had mkedical evidence of pain I went over my prescribed amount even though I complained it wasn't enough for months...Well they decided to KICK ME OUT OF THE PAIN PROGRAM considering me NOW A PAIN PILL JUNKIE and reffered me to a CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY CLINIC AFTER 9 MONTHS of TESTS THEY KICKED ME OUT OF THE PAIN CLINIC IN 2 WEEKS ! That place is a Malpractice JOKE with the rudest doctors and nurses and customer service and Just plain smarts period.. DO NOT GOT TO KAISER MARTINEZ FOR ANYTHING TO DO WITH PAIN or in fact ANYTHING AT ALL...AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE

I had neck surgery through Kaiser a year ago. The surgery failed and I am left in more pain than before my surgery . I am treated as a pill seeker , drug addict with no dignity at all. I have received no pain medication , been sent to psych and been left to suffer for the last 10 months. Other then psyc med being pushed on me that do not control the pain I have paid to be treated less than human. I can't wait to leave Kaiser. NEVER AGAIN.

My husband has bladder cancer and multiple back issues and is constantly in pain. Because of the people who illegally use narcotics, Kaiser has adopted a policy that limits their ability to treat patients who suffer from severe chronic pain. It lacks common sense that they have chosen to let illegal drug users dictate their policy in treating their patients.

Careful! Your ignorance is showing. There is a medical distinction between addiction and dependence. Do a little research before judging others on a subject you clearly do not understand. I pray that you are never struck with a debilitating disease like this poor soul. Although, I'm sure you would be singing a different song then.

Kaiser Permanente Unethical behavior

Kaiser is absolutely awful! They won't pay if you have complicated medical issues and simply don't care. They only care about saving money. They hurt me tremendously, and I am still in pain from their lack of care. When I filed a complaint with Kaiser, they offered me extended coverage and then reneged on their offer.
In addition to all the pain they caused me, I now have to pay for the extended coverage bills they were supposed to cover. Very cruel and unethical! Their complaint process is a joke and will now cost me thousands. Don't use Kaiser unless you want to be maimed or be broke!

Kaiser Permanente Always give patients written rx

After paying $1200 / mo for insurance, and waiting 3 hours for simple cough syrup with "controlled" codeine, new building and electronic medical records is Worthless if MDs don't Always give patients Written Rx. Cough is keeping me up. Doesn't take years of med school to know pharmacy won't give med in CA if no written Rx. RN should have caught this too. Delsym is Not cutting it. Who is the Medical Director and CEO?! For this much money, you need to get it together! Pharmacist just blames this on per diem MDs. If you see a problem in the system, You need to Speak up! Kaiser Permanente Malpractice

Kaiser eye doctor failed to diagnose problem with the retina in my left eye.

As a result I had detached retina and had 3 surgeries. I have less than 20% vision in my left eye and I can't read or drive using my left eye.

When I complained to Kaiser, they denied responsibility and informed me that it is more than 6 months to seek arbitration. I filed complaint with the state optometry board and they have filed charges against Dr. Leland Toy for gross negligence, incompetence etc. and will revoke or suspend his license.

Kaiser Permanente Stay away

I was just denied by Kaiser Permanente for being pregnant. Apparently, the result of being in-between insurance policies that you can afford but do to pure circumstance, are not covered, results in you having absolutely no coverage or hope for coverage for nine months and going into extreme debt. To add insult to injury, you are asked to take a urine test, like a criminal. So after crying hopelessly about the evil of insurance companies and the horrific state of healthcare in America, I curled up on the couch.

Then I turned on the TV and low and behold, a beautiful advertisement with babies, strollers, and all the joys of parenthood. Then boom: Kaiser Permanente: Thrive.

How DARE you put that ad up with your policy of complete discrimination. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Pregnant women are not a disease. And I notice how no medical responsibility is carried by the other half of the equation: males. Ther coverage is both less costly and without restraints.

Thanks for making the joys of motherhood transform into terror and sadness, Kaiser Permanente.

As a mom of two and a former insurance salesperson who is still licensed in Illinois, I can tell you that unfortunately, what they've done is completely legal - and typical within all insurance companies. If your previous insurance was going to be terminated for whatever reason and your current insurance hadn't kicked in by the time you confirmed your pregnancy and were ready to see the doctor, then your pregnancy is a pre-existing condition. It's absolutely stupid, and wrong - I won't argue that in the LEAST - but it's completely legal and actually very common practice. I hate this loophole, as it allows insurance companies to involve the high prices involved in pregnancy and childbirth, and the subsequent immediate post-natal care of both mother and baby. It leaves far too many women and children without the vital prenatal care that they need and deserve. My best recommendation, if you haven't already found a care provider who can and will cover your pregnancy, is to contact your local DHS (Department of Human Services) office and explain your situation. They might be able to provide low-cost (I know, cost isn't a problem in this case, but saving a bit doesn't hurt) prenatal care for you so at least for now you don't have to worry. The downside is that if you're accepted into the program, you may be greatly limited in your healthcare provider options - of course, whether or not this is a problem will depend completely on where you are from and whether or not you had multiple care provider and hospital options in the first place. DHS can also point you toward several state insurance options that might serve you well in this case; once your baby arrives, you can allow the lower-cost state insurance to finish paying off the delivery and post-natal care needs you incur, then hop on your new insurance and drop your state coverage. Alternatively, you can seek pregnancy-only care through the state through some programs; this, however, is state-specific. You may need to do some digging, but at least you aren't completely out of options where the major companies all too often fail their customers.
Best of luck, and please, remember that you and your baby are special and important to someone out there.

Kaiser Permanente Kaiser promotes hatred of women!

Horribly sexist commercial currently running. Makes a mockery of women, especially pregnant women. Plays a stupid, goofy song while telling women that they must spend money on all this junk they don't need. Assumes women are materialistic and gullible, love to spend money on useless items, and will happily buy anything you tell them too.

Utterly idiotic and terrible offensive. This commercial is about as undignified as you can get. This is not Kaiser's only sexist commercial. There are others currently running which also encourage hatred against women.

Bigotry cannot be tolerated. Please boycott Kaiser (haven't they killed & maimed enough people, anyway?)...and please call and email them to let them know WHY you won't ever use their services.

Kaiser Permanente Administrative incompetence

I have been a Kaiser Employee at Woodland Hills for many years. The one thing you can count on is incompetency. They have too many chiefs in the kitchen making alot of money. I work in a department that has four administrative staff members that do nothing but harass the staff. Staff members receive corrective action for calling in sick. Someone please get rid of Betsy Diep. She is the most incompetent of them all. She has a masters degree in acting arrougant and pretending to comprehend nursing. The Emergency Room is failing because of her and the other assistant administrator Antonio Molina. The Department Administrator Caryn Pola is a tyrant. When she came to our department she stated she came to fire employees. Someone look into these corrupt people!

Kaiser Permanente kaiser refuses covered medicare

DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO KAIER FOR SERNIOR ADVANTAGE. YOU HEALTH WILL BE COMPROMISED. Kaiser medicare covered patients. Kaiser reaps big profits by monies from medicare-midical covered patients by denying covered medicare benefits and delayed services until you spend countless hours and job time lost and money lost then they say ok covered only after you complain to medicare and the medicare attorneys get involved. Delayed service created further physical deteriotion for mother and contributed to degerative ability to swallow to a point of non-recovery. They profit that for the other 20 times they denied a covered benefit, only 1 would follow through. My brother didn't know the benefit was covered for the last 3 years adding to kaisers profit margin. My mother is now in a Skilled Nursing Facility and seems to be almost 100% agree it is better to be on Medicare (and medical) rather then on Kaiser. The use the many other doctors that are assigned to different hospitals so you are not constrained by an HMO. Even the caretakers agree that it is harder and slower (as well as more limited)when Kaiser is the contracted HMO.

Kaiser Permanente medicare funds wasted

Was referred to Kaiser sleep facility in Penderbrooke Va. for sleep apnea
issues. Kaiser was aware of age (85 yrs. old) and Medicare benefits. Met
w/ Greg Carter sometime around Sept 2009, and a sleep study was issued.
Overnight sleep study was performed at 3rd party facility (Sleep Med /
Digitrace). Results required a second sleep study, which was performed in
11-2009 at different facility around Washington DC beltway. Results
required a 3rd sleep study, performed again around beltway. Test report was
read by Dr. Richey @ Kaiser, who composed conclusions of test and sleep aid
machine was ordered. That was Dec. 7th. During this adventure (late Oct.),
employer switched insurance for 2010 from Kaiser Permanente to CareFirst
BC/BS effective 1-1-10. In checking status of order later in Dec, the games
began. Machine was 1st ordered from wrong company. Then machine was
ordered from a company that actually could provide it. While trying to
confirm order, and status, Krista Bernier, Clinical Coordinator for Kaiser
at their Penderbrooke Va assured me that Kaiser had already authorized this
referral for a sleep aid machine, and it really didn’t matter at that
point when the machine was ordered, before or after Jan 1. I explained my
concern was if the correct machine was ordered BEFORE Jan 1, then there
should be no issues. She reiterated that Jan 1 meant nothing. After not
receiving anything, I found out the order was cancelled Jan 7th, as Kaiser
ordered incorrect machine. We were told machine ordered required 50% of
apnea to be central apnea, yet results show ZERO% of apnea is central.
Requirement is a Medicare requirement that Kaiser should have been aware of.
I have no idea of the hows and whys regarding why the machine was
cancelled, but if a mistake was made, no big deal, as I am not above making
a mistake. What does concern me is the Clinical Coordinator, Krista Bernier
and Kaisers response and attitude after Jan 1, 2010. I called Krista
Bernier and left messages every day for a week. No response. Upon
continuing to call her, I caught her at her desk one day, and she answered
her phone. She was rude and short, claiming she was busy, and did not have
any time to talk to me. I mentioned I had left many messages, none of which
were returned. She said she did not have time for me, and after Jan 1st
there was nothing she could do, and would have to hang up.
I believe that is a text book definition of “TWO FACED LIER”. How she
ever progressed to her management position is a mystery to me. My biggest
regret was that my phone conversation with her in Dec were not witnessed or
recorded. The only thing worse then my experience would be to have to work
for her I guess. This is my main concern / complaint. People like her have
no business in a management position.
My second concern or complaint is Kaisers lack of response. I called
members services several times, called a Tina Brown (complaint investigator
w/ Kaiser) several times, leaving messages, but never heard from her.
It is now 6 weeks into 2010, and we have nothing to fix the sleep apnea
issue. No machine, no test reports for another doctor to interpret, only
conclusions that are confusing to me and the new pulmonary doctor. So, as I
had expected, 2009 came and went with Medicare paying for 3 overnight sleep
studies, countless hours wasted driving to and from studies, and we have
NOTHING to show for it. No machine, no test reports to pass on to new
doctor. What a COMPLETE WASTE of time, money, and resources.
Again, sleep aid machine was ordered Dec 7th, and we have nothing as of
Feb. 16th. Plus repeated request to get sleep studies reports have resulted
in nothing. I feel Kaiser should reimburse Medicare for whatever they were
charged for the sleep studies, as that time and data was a waste.
My point in taking the time to generate this complaint is this: 1) To
obtain TEST REPORTS of 3 sleep studies so new physician can determine his
own conclusion. 2) To bring to light the need for Krista Bernier to be
retrained, and progress monitored. 3) To alert other consumers of the
Kaiser incompetence in this case, and waste of Medicare money, as new
physician will require new sleep study so he can finally get the test data &
reports, so he can make his own conclusion, and hopefully order a machine.

Why do you keep calling Kaiser?
Why would you expect Kaiser to buy you a machine after you are no longer a member?
Why didn't you go to Carefirst?
Medicare does not give you a machine. The machine is leased. If you had got a machine in December you would have to bring it back when your insurance changed. They did you a favor by screwing up.

Kaiser Permanente refusal to refill hrt

I waited 4 mos. for an appt. with a female gyn, only to be told that she was not there that day and I would be seeing a male doctor. I have had no luck dealing with menopause symptoms and male dr's. After my female exam, I asked him about refilling my HRT and he point blank looked and me and said"If you take these you will get breast cancer and die". The man is an idiot. Typical male dr response to menopause. He is very uninformed and I have been to a female expert in menopause and have been very well educated in HRT. He never even asked during the exam about any of the symptoms I had told the nurse about. I had even told the nurse it was a waste of time to discuss any women's issuses with a male dr and she agreed. The only thing he offered was a prescription for a psych drug, which left me angry that he obviously thinks menopause is all in our head. I will be returning to my old dr and paying out of pocket so i will not have to suffer as I do at this time without my HRT. I am very unhappy with Kaiser and sorry our employer switched our insurance to them. I have never been subjected to more uninformed, only there for the paycheck dr's in all my life. I did email the dr I was suppose to see and let her know how unhappy I was with the visit and that I know all the studies on HRT and breast cancer. no response yet from any one at Kaiser. What a waste of time and money at that place.

My estrogen level is 12 and kaiser refuses hrt. I agrr, if you have a chronic condition, kaiser should be a last resort healthcare provider, esp if you have odd chronic problems. Also, their mental healthcare is way understaffed. Before obamacare they could weed out the chronically ill by charging exorbitant fees, now they are at ill equiped to handle us because their doctors have mostly treated healthy people for decades.

I am having the same issue on another topic. My thyroid and my potassium levels. I had to send research information to my doctor. He has not responded. I have a new female doctor that I wrote to before I could see her as the wait at Kaiser for an appointment is usually a month or more. I have not heard from her yet, but to be fair, they are allowed 48 hours and today should be the day I hear from both of them. Should be interesting.
In retrospect, the lack of knowledge and the quick attack (email response in all caps telling me how misinformed I am) has scared the heck out of me. I'm on Medicare and I believe I can only change insurers once a year. But, I will begin researching it immediately.
Kaiser is the worst insurer if you have any chronic conditions. If you are completely healthy, they're fine, just pray you don't get sick.

Kaiser Permanente worst customer service

I've been calling Kaiser customer service [protected] almost everyday for a week now to cancel my moms insurance policy and its bean a real pain. First of all most customer service reps are not that helpful. The representative I spoke today 10:01 ET 01/04/10 was the worst of them, she try to ignore all my questions and attempted to hang up on me. She was very rude.

It was also especially hard to send a fax to them, I faxed cancellation notice almost everyday and they have 2 days to verify if the fax went through. I've faxed my docs at home and thru outside fax service but when I try to verify later, they were not able to receive it.

I have been on specific pain medications for months now. I turned in my request 3 days prior to the fill date as requested by the staff. The prescription was not filled and my regular doctor went on vacation. The fill in doctor said I could not have the medication because I was taking another medication? Yes, that is right, I take both, that is why my regular doctor prescribes both, see, A +B=C, right? The pain became so excruciating I spent 3 hours in Urgent Care, where the pretend doctor, the NP, looked at me like I came in for a paper cut. I litterally could not stand up, could not walk, she gave me a shot of an anti-inflamatory, the nurse came in 20 minutes later and said "Did that help?" I said, "No, not a bit" She looked so disapointed, like oh no, we might actually have to treat this patient. The nurse asked me "What do you want?" What do I want? What do I want? How the hell should I know what I need? Do I have a medical degree? I told her to just fill the original prescriiption. That made her so happy, how easy for them to just tap the letters on the computer and be rid of me. I walked out, sort of, bent over with an icepack tied to my lower back with a scarf I had worn, grasping the walls, wincing in pain for every step up a flight of stairs and an elevator, then waited for another hour at the pharmacy because the doctor had not bothered to send up the prescription. My husband came home from a business trip and was absolutely appalled at the condition I was in and the fact that they let me drive home after seeing that obviously I could not even walk. I hate Kaiser! The only bright spot is my very wonderful Rhumetoologist, Dr. Li, wondeful, competent, compassionate. Too bad the rest of the staff did not have her brains or her heart.

Kaiser Permanente nightmare

My son has chest pians in his right rib. He wants a doctor's appointment. Kaiser Permanete was telephoned on 5/11/09, 5/12/09, 5/18/09 and 5/19/09 for an appointment with any doctor. No appointment was given. He was informed he would be called back. He spoke to a nurse named Jim by telelphone on 5/18/09, but no appointment was given Membership servies were contacted and "Rosie" attempted to make an appointment on 5/19/09, however she has not yet been successful. What happpened to the days when you called your doctor and the receptionist gave you the next available appointment. If your doctor was not in, he had a back up physician. My son was only told if it was an emergency to go to urgent care.

Double nightmare with Kaiser. I am livid to the point of tears. These people are more interested in the number of paitents and days of stay than providing care and information. I am still dealing with a mess of a system that only cares about the kaiser bottom line. I can not seak to one person that can answer my questions or provide advice. Everyone tells me I need to talk to someone else, yet I find that decisions are being made without my knowledge, consult or advisement. I can not plan for these descision without being advised of then in advance. They have major implications for my time, purse and other resources that I have to have in place. I would have appreciated some prior discussion before they decision regarding care were decided and put in motion. I am not invisible, deaf or dumb.
