Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores refund issue

I've made an order and when I received my order it was incorrect. I refused to accept it and told the courier to take it back where it came from.
The same day I contacted JoAnn Fabric and asked for a refund. They said that I'll get the money in a week and I said fine.
Week passed and there was no money and they said that they need another week. Money was not given back and I'm still waiting for my refund!

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores under stocked and staffed store in homewood, illinois

My nearest Joann Fabric and Craft Store located at 179th and Halsted in Homewood, Illinois is very under staffed. Check out lines are long, wait time for material cutting is also unreasonable, this is after searching for someone to come and cut it. However the WORST thing is the lack of STOCK available at this location. The Joann store in neighboring Orland Park is bursting at the seams with a ultra large variety of merchandise so why is the store in Homewood so horribly under stocked? There's no reason that I can think of why my local store is so neglected. I depend on Joann Fabric and Craft stores for my sewing, embroidery and craft projects, if you guys really read this I hope you do something. Through Facebook and Twitter, I am encouraging other customers, friends, family and neighbors to speak up about the differences that are evident or find other places to shop.

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores fabric department customer service

Eastport Plaza Shopping Center
3900 SE 82nd Ave #1000
Portland OR 97266
7/11/16 (Monday) @ 3:30pm
I like JoAnn. I can spend all day at the store just looking at all the cool stuff. But, after today’s experience with their customer service, I am not going back there anymore. My aunts and I were waiting at their Fabric department desk for fabric cutting. There were 2 girls assisting customers. It wasn’t a busy Monday afternoon; there were only 3 or 4 customers ahead of us. I overlooked the sign so I didn’t know they are using a ticket system. My aunts don’t read English. After 30 min wait, I finally got my turn. I laid the fabrics on the desk right in front of the girl who was supposed to help me next. All the sudden, a lady walked up to the desk and asked, “do I need to pick a number?” The girl responded, “yes, you do.” I started to get worried because I didn’t have a ticket so I kindly asked, “I didn’t know I have to pick a number but I’ve already been waiting here for half an hour, could you help me first? The girl said, “No, we have to go by the number. If you don’t have a number, I can’t help you, ” and she walked away. Seriously?! I was pissed. Three of my aunts were still talking to each other and waiting for me patiently. I picked a number and It was 95. I continued standing on the same spot looking at the girls; one was fixing something at the other end of the desk. Another one picked up the microphone and started calling, “91, 92, 93, 94.” No one respond to the first 3 numbers and those numbers never called out the whole time I was there. The lady with number 94 came up because she was the only one standing there. I decided to talk to the store manager to express my anger. Finally met with the store manager and told her everything I’ve experienced. Shockingly, she said nothing comforting but went on and on saying I have to pay attention to their ticket sign and have to pick a number. She also said the girls are doing the right thing and that they would not assist customers without tickets. She also explained it in another way, “the girls are working pretty much like robots, if they see a ticket they help you, if they don’t see a ticket, they won’t help you.” She continued, “we don’t have that many manpower here to help people that are not willing to wait.” Wow, I was shocked. I didn’t expect a store manager would communicate this way to a customer. I didn’t agree with her so we argued. Before I left the store, I said to her, “I am sorry to hear that your staff are working like robots and they’re not working like humans anymore”. She replied with an angry face, “oh, they don’t service YOU anymore”. I was extremely angry to the point that I felt my body was shaking. Feeling helpless, I took a deep breath and left the store. I do respect their ticket system if I knew it the first time. Next time if I walk in to a JoAnn store, I probably would grab a ticket ASAP just like I walk in to DMV, if I still go there again. I am posting and mailing this letter to everywhere I could. I am curious about how other people might react if they were in a similar situation like this.

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores extremely slow shipping and condescending treatment by customer service

Although their website says that they ship within 3 business days and one would receive the item within 6-9 days, and even though the item was in stock, it took many calls to customer service and a formal complaint to get the process of shipping started. It still has not been shipped. I asked to speak directly to Michael Bryan, the manager but customer service would not allow me to speak directly to him and he did not return my call The customer service representatives that I spoke with seem to be unsympathetic and condescending, talking over me and even laughing at my frustration. I am shocked that there are companies that still operate like this! I will need to get the credit card company involved to help me resolve this issue.

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores restroom and store cleanliness

Often I use the restroom at JoAnn Fabric store in Conyers, Georgia and it leaves much to be desired. Often I don't want to use it because I never know what I will find that will ruin the moment. Please do not remove public access to the restrooms because it is essential for the length of time spent in the store.

Yesterday, (6/30/16), the restroom was simply ridiculous. Photos attached. Another complaint about this store is the entrance doors. The glass is always smudged and appears dirty. It makes me not want to push the handle. If this is a flaw in the glass please replace them.

Lastly, it is always hot in this store. I rarely sweat in other stores but always do in this one. I visit this store about 1-2 times per week and sweat profusely. Yesterday, it was almost unbearable.

Please address these issues with this store. I would visit more vs your competition Michaels which is just in the next shopping center.

Thank you.

My wife went to a Jo-ann fabric store in Port Charlotte, Florida and asked to use the bathroom and was refused by the cashier and was told to go to Publix Food store or the dollar store. She had a basket full of merchandise and left it and decided not to return.

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores lack of availability of patterns

I went to the JoAnn's at 114th and Metcalf in Overland Park, Kansas last Sunday to get patterns. The Spring Butterick patterns were not stocked, although they have been available for weeks. Two other patterns I wanted were also not in stock. When I asked why the stocking was so poor, the answer was that the person who normally did stocking had been on vacation for three weeks, out of town. I found this to be unacceptable, considering that the Butterick patterns were on sale at a reduced price during this time, but the latest patterns were not available to purchase. Anyone who stands between this gal and her patterns is the object of my wrath!

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores fabric cutting counter

This complaint applies to the Joann fabric store in 6161 Columbia Crossing Dr, Columbia, MD 21045
Their fabric cutting counter employee (Mishka) refused to provide service to me because I didn't have a ticket. Apparently, Joann has a ticket machine somewhere near the fabric cutting station, but if you didn't know about it, you will end up wasting your time by standing in line to get a piece of fabric cut.
Their store manager was grumpy and rude to me when I tried to explain to her that I didn't know they had a ticket machine and by the time a realized it, several people formed a line behind me. I was asking for them to make an exception and serve me instead of sending me to back of the line. The manager rudely interrupted me and basically hinted that I should shut up and do what their store rules dictate. I am sorry, maybe I am confused about the definition of customer service. This experience resembles the type of “service” you could get from the government agency, but this is a retail business and last time I checked, they depend upon their customers for their survival. I am obviously not going to be one of their customers anymore. Thank God for the Internet!

Samething happened to me yesterday at their Portland SouthEast store. It was July 11 at around 330pm. I totally understand how you feel! Their store manager is so crazy. Her role was supposed to solve problems and to help their valuable customers but the way she communicates and handling things made me feel like it was my false for not Knowing the number system and I deserve the punishment. They didn't call out numbers before serving the next customer while I was standing there the whole time. I thought it was just a typical line. After some arguments, she told me they will not serve me anymore. How rude!

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores terrible customer service

The woman at the fabric cutting counter was extremely grumpy and rude. When I told her I'd like to buy one of the fabrics in the upholstery area she told me "Go get it". I told her that the sign on the display said to see a sales associate for help with that fabric. She said "Bring the bolt of fabric to the counter - like everyone else does all day long". Her name is Terri. This happened at the Cranberry Twp, PA store today 2/19/16.

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores extremely slow shipping

I made a huge mistake when I decided to order something from JoAnn Fabric website. Lesson learned and I'll never buy anything from them again. Well, long story short. I made an order and it is now three weeks later and they still haven't shipped my order. I contacted their customer support to find out what was going on, but never received a response. I wanted to cancel the order, but they don't allow cancellations of orders after they've been placed. And I even cannot contact someone from the company to discuss this issue. This company is so bad!

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores store would not accept jo-anns coupons

Store # 1949 at 3042 Ridge Rd W. Rochester, NY. With the closing of the Webster, NY Store, this JoAnn's is now the nearest store from my home at 30 miles away. I get coupons via JoAnn app, text message, and emails; also, hard copy flyers via US mail. 1) 50% off regular priced cut of fabric; but ALL the fabric was "on sale" so the coupons cannot be redeemed! This is a consistent tactic of JoAnn's 2) 60% off notions coupon but the store had an "unadvertised manager sale" of 25% off needles; so I could not use that coupon. 3) Found 2 items that I could use 50% off coupons so went to check out. I pulled up the JoAnn's email with the coupons, handed my phone to the cashier. He would not enter the coupon code manually in the cash register because it would not scan. I said JoAnn's sent me the email so you should accept it. He refused. I did not want to argue any further or hold up the line. The Webster NY store employees always accepted the coupons and I received great service from that store so I was stunned at the treatment I received. This store just lost $100 purchase as I walked out of the store. Tonight I looked through my bank statements and added up what I had spent at JoAnn's in 2015...total $1365..so this store lost a good, regular customer...I will NOT be back!

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores poor exchange/return policy

I purchased a sewing machine for my daughter in September for a Christmas gift. We opened the machine after the holidays and the machine did not work. Since it was past their 90 day return policy Joann is telling me I need to go to the manufacturer for any issues. I called the manufacturer, Janome, and they are going to charge me to send it there and charge me to send it back to fix a machine that NEVER worked. I am BEYOND PISSED!

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores christmas decorations

I live in Austin Texas. Normally I shop at Hobby Lobby or Micheals. Today I decided to go into Joanns to looking at the patterns seeing that I got a sewing machine for Christmas. As I walked into the door I noticed all the Christmas decorations on sale. I walked over to these pictures frames that clearly had a sale above the item of 15.99, with a yellow sign below that said 75% off the item. I put them in the basket with other sale items. I walked up to the counter, checked out and walked out of the store. As I look at my receipt I noticed they rang out at 39.99 with 75% off. I put the items in my truck and went back in and stood in the line to ask why they rang out at that price. They associate called me over to her line. I told her the issue and she acted like I was a problem from the get go. As we walked over and I pointed out the price she took out her little device and scanned them. Sure enough they did ring out at 39.99. She said at that time they were 39.99 and I pointed out the 15.99. She got on her walkie talkie and called for a mgr. She told the mgr an associate put the wrong price over an item. I suppose the mgr. told her to come to her. I stood at the front and the associate ask me to follow her. As we walked to the associate she told me to stay and she would come back to me. A few moments went by and she came back and said they couldn't discount it to that price. I was so flustered I just turned around and went to walk out. Before I walked out I decided to take a picture and post it to see what other people thought. Being my first time shopping here I definitely didn't have a good experience what so ever!

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores cashier/customer service

I have received the most distasteful service at this particular store location December 8th, 2015 at a proximate 1754 hours. I have shopped with Joann for about two years and generally have pleasant experiences. this store is clean and well organized. However, this evening I arrived to a line that was empty; I was the only one in line. There were two cashiers at the register; one lady made eye contact with me and continued putting together a box. another cashier was busy doing something as well. He then told his colleague, "You have a customer." to which she just looked at me smiled said yes and continued putting together a box. So, with that blatant display of disregard for me as a customer, the other cashier took me. I told him "thank you for acknowledging me", to which the cashier that was ignoring me laughed. this experience was so distasteful that I took the survey on my receipt and asked to be contacted by someone from corporate. the worst part is that I get the impression that the woman ignoring me was actually a store manager and she was not wearing her badge so I could not get her name. So disappointed by such disgusting treatment by this person, and I never received so much as an apology.

Although I agree and have myself had mostly bad experiences at Joann's similar to your own, it bothers me how people always assume someone is a manager. I have had many people take the surveys that our store prints out at the bottom of our receipts saying how they received bad customer service or somehow had a bad experience from the "manager" however, I am the manager and it was infact NOT me. On most occasions I was not even near them and would myself have let my associate know that their behavior was unacceptable only to be told that myself because a customer assumed that my seasonal cashier was a "manager".

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores cancelled my order and didn't notify me / very poor customer service

I placed an order with joann fabric on nov. 24. Two weeks went by and I had not recieved my order nor heard anything from the company about it. After numerous attempts calling their customer service number and hearing their message that my call was important to them and then having the call disconnected, I actually got to talk to someone about my order. She told me they had cancelled it because everything I had ordered was out of stock. They just didn't bother letting me know that. She went on to tell me that there was no point in trying to send the order through again because some of the items may have been discontinued. When I placed the order online that day, everything said it was in stock. She went on to tell me that I should keep checking their website to see if what I had orginally ordered was back in stock and then to call them to see if I could get the items at the sale price that I was suppose to get on my order. I ordered different quantities of 22 different items. I hate to think how long and how much time I would waste doing that. Needless to say, joann has lost me as a customer not that I think they care. How can a company do business like this?

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores rotten customer service

Went to the store on 4514 n. Harlem in norridge, il. Today for the first time with two coupons just to browse? never again! Got up to the checkout, one person ringing, 8 or 9 people in line! Seriously? Come on! Clerk should have enough brains to call for help when it is needed. Gave my coupon to a grateful customer and the other to the mod of the fabric cutting dept. And told them I was walking out. Told the clerk when I walked out that, " you guys need to call for help when you have a line." Never again!

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores cardboard interfacing is wound on

I was at federal way joanne fabrics, I was buying interfacing about 15 yards, it was the ind of the bolt and I asked if it could be put back on the cardboard to keep it nice while I used it. The clerk said "oh no we can't let you have that". I have been given the cardboard before, so I was questioning, is this a company policy or the clerks policy? Less wrinkles in my interfacing and less for joanne's to throw away. This happened about 2 weeks ago. I don't know what the solution would be, an extra discount? I believe she's a new hire, her attitude was she was doing me a favor. I don't think she realizes other organizations sell interfacing too. Thank you for your time.

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores coupon scam

I have had problems with Joann's in past not sending complete orders. Which is a real pain when you order everything for a project and not get half your order especially the sales items. I had clicked the unsub email button about 3 weeks ago. I kept getting emails. I got one for 60% off. Too good to pass up. So I found a fabric not on sale and placed my order. I did not order anything else since I know how that goes. They cancelled my order. It had been pending on my paypal for 6 days. I emailed customer service to see when it was going to be processed. Now they have cancelled it and won't honor the coupon. I am going to try unsubbing again. They are not worth the headache. I have never had problems with fabric.com and Han.. The rest of the word is forbidden. I will stick with them from now on.

Honestly everything is on sale at the store all the time. The online coupons we find are just a way to get you in the door. Get to the register and they tell you what you have is already on sale and the coupon doesnt apply. Scam artists. Im done dealing with local stores. Online purchases only unless its grocery or household cleaning supplies. No retailer is worth the trouble.

I don't know how they stay in business. They won't honor coupons. I am homebound so have to get somebody to take me somewhere. So I shop online usually. They have messed me over in face and online. I am terrified of people so can not go there in person anymore. The employees are just too confrontational. I literally leave in extreme duress. So I started shopping online only with them. They cancelled order I had a 60% off coupon for. Nobody told me why even though I emailed customer service. I had returned orders before but only because my orders were not complete for the projects I had planned. I asked to be unsubbed from their email list. I still get coupons almost daily. I don't know why you can't get a full order or use an online coupon. I never had any problems with the other online fabric stores. I ordered over 300.00 from one after I had to send back my Joann order. I have never ever had to return a product from any other online store.

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores bad handling of customer rep

The sale rep screamed out loud at some little boys. The 2 year old spilled candies (7-10) chocolate candies on the floor. His older brothers tried to catch and told him to stop. While his parents were busy talking with another representative about sewing machine. The other salez rep who screamed at the kids scold and told the older boys in a mean way to pick up the candies off of the floor and with their own hands and throw them into the garbage. She should off instead amtell the kids politely and nice manner to stop, and if they can help clean off the spilled candies. But she should off given them a broomstick and a dustpan to sweep the candies not just puck it up with their hands off of the floor. And she should of talked politely to the parents to watch their kids. She did not even talk nice nor even resoond in polite manner. Whats the most disburbing to me is that she screamed out so loud in the store at the kids that everyone in the store thought something tragic or incident happen. She needs to be taught ahsin of how to react and treat customers and children ina polite manner. She should not even have to scream inside the place where she is a worker. If a customer screamed she should be the one to talk and c as lmed them dosn politely even though i know shes a human being too. She still should be retrained on being a customer sales person please!

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores check out and avoid

I was in the Riverdale location yesterday, 09/09/15. Coon Rapids MN. I purchased one ball of yarn at 4.99 Clerk took my 20.00 bill, broke eye contact to chat with another salesperson, then insisted I had given her 10.00. Manager, Dave, got involved and said he would give me a call today either way, after the registers had been closed down to determine if they were 10.00 over. It is now 8 pm and of course I received no call. Quickly, my background is 40 years in retail, 20 in management. I have seen this happen at least 50 times. No one ever got their money back, even tho we sometimes had video that the customer was right...but the register had closed out correctly. Obviously, someone made that happen? I now do sales training seminars and will do as much as possible to insure that no one shops at this location again. Basic retail training is to take the cash, then say "4.99 out of 10.00? right?" This could have all been avoided. Thus one has to think that it was deliberate.
