First of. They came to meet me about my timeshare. The agent refused to leave any paperwork or business card and said I had to pay them $7500 to take my timeshare away. I was considering it as i didnt want my kids to get my resorts and the fees but wanted to look them up first. Well, after they left, I did some simple google searching. here is what i found.
two owners, Jeff Smarce and Chip Burton The were recently released from a long prison sentence for drug trafficking. Cocaine was imported from the Bahamas, deputies said.
The sheriff, working with federal agents and Savannah police, conducted a two-year probe that resulted in the 32-count indictment of the men in August.
These men were sentenced Wednesday: Barry Dean Boatner, 26, Holly Hill. He received an eight-year sentence and a $50, 000 fine for distributing cocaine.
Edward L. Crown, age unavailable, Holly Hill. He received a six-year term and a $35, 000 fine for cocaine possession with intent to distribute.
Robert ''Chip'' Burton Guest, 27, Daytona Beach. He received a 12-year term and a $15, 000 fine for conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
Jeffrey M. Smarse, 26, Daytona Beach. He received a 5 1/2-year sentence for conspiracy and a 10, 000 fine.
Smarse also is required to sell his interest in AAA Self Storage in Daytona Beach and two properties on Atlantic Avenue.
All except Crown, who is serving a prison term on an unrelated charge, will remain free until Jan. 11, when they will begin serving their sentences..

Now to the new Manager of the company that just took over on 7/22/2013. Ryan Phillips. Registered sex offender 10/23/2006, Lewd, Lascivious batt sex w/victim 12-15 years old;

Keeping in mind this company was just started in May of 2013. Does anyone really want to give these guys any money?

Hi Jacustomer,

The Better Business Bureau gives JMG a B- rating, which would be slightly above average. They have had no complaints about them (the company is only 4 months old) but it hasn't been around long enough for the rating to mean much.

Apart from the BBB review, the company is a blank slate -- two new for anything to turn up on the web either for them or against them. You can see the BBB review here. The company calls itself an LLC but is not listed under JMG on the Florida Secretary of STate's corporate registry, where one would expect it to be. Further, it's site registration is good for just one year. These are not necessarily signs of scam, but it does raise a flag as to whether they really intend to be around for the long haul.

Every company was new once, but I simply can't tell if that's the case here. This is an area where there is a tremendous amount of fraud. It is very difficult to sell a time share at all. It is impossible to sell it at a profit. Most who are able to sell their timeshares do so at 20 to40% below what they paid for it. So you need to avoid cold callers with their pie-in-the-sky promises and up front fees, and instead contract with a company that has been around for a while and has a solid industry reputation and good track history.

If they are asking for money and promising you a buyer and a great price, they are almost certainly not for real. If they they have realistic expectations as to what they can get you, then only because they are new and the amount of fraud in this area, I'd recommend doing a little comparative shopping before you contract with them, or any other reseller.

One possible way to find others, since most reputable resellers don't generally cold call, would be to search the Better Business Bureau's Directory of Accredited Time Share Resellers. In the space on the left type in Timeshare Resale and Rental Marketing. In the space on the right, your city and state. You will get a list of places in your general community which you can check out. They have all been rated and vetted by the BBB, and you can read those reviews to help make a selection. You'd then want to contact the State Attorney General's Office where the business is headquarted and ask about the company's complaint history and where it stands in that regard compared to other similar businesses in the state.

Also get to know Tug2.net. and tug's forum called tugbbs.com. each of which should give you a lot of data that you can compare and discuss before you sign any contract with a reseller. Tug2 is a site recommended by Clark Howard to help timeshare owners sell their timeshares and avoid scammers. It is made up entirely of Timeshare owners who have all learned from their mistakes and are eager to educate others.

Good luck!
