To Whom It May Concern

I would really like to say that I am deeply disturb how South African pastors are being displayed in Isidingo on Sabc 3. It is portraying a bad image about christianity and its leadership. I do trust that the public protector can request for this act to be ommitted from the script as many christian viewers are being offended

Regards

I would like to comment specifically on the portrayal of Sechaba's violence towards Lerato. I would consider this out of character for Sechaba as I do not believe there have been any previous accounts of his violence towards women, even in his youth. So showing him as suddenly becoming a violent person as a result of his attack does not bode well because, 1) It appears to suggest that men are inherently violent and all they need is a little trauma to set it off. 2) As you are already dealing with the issue of abuse in Nikiwe's fiancé, point 1 above is further reinforced.

Please ensure you do adequate research before engaging/ representing such a topic particularly as this is an issue that affects a lot of people.

Last nights episode (26/04/17) was an absolute disgrace, we are trying to overcome the past and move forward, you guys managed to disturb thousands of people across the country with the racist remarks and beatings given to Sechaba whilst visiting his fathers grave.
This was totally unnecessary.
WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO !
It is sad that you obviously live in the past.

Disappointed

I agree. I used to love this program and would not miss a day of viewing. This has put me off the program and it has lost a loyal viewer. I am sure this program has lost a lot of support due to this outright attack on Christians. I'm sure they wouldn't dare portray Rabi's or Muslims in this light for fear of retaliation. Some how they think Christians, because of their very nature, won't do anything. I really think that as long as they continue in this manner they will loose huge viewership as there are a lot of Christians in this country. Shame on you!

Totally agree with the above complaint, this potrays a bad impression on christians and mostly pastors ...kindly note the seriousness of the matter and would encourage the producers to re-look at the current scenes and consider removing and viewing future scenes, , ,

I would totally agree with the above comments. The negative broadcasting is creating a nasty image on the Christian faith. The least the producers could do is to display a message at the end of the broadcast.
Thank you

I absolutely agree with this complaint. I personally understand that local production of T.V programs is used to display the reality of the life experiences that we have as the South African society and perhaps the story line of the Pastor could be a reality. Yes there are Pastors who do such wrongs in Society as much as there are people who do different wrongs in Society. However, my challenge is the impact that such a story line makes on Christianity. Christianity is sacred and should be afforded the reverence that it deserves. This story line paints a bad picture about Christianity and is likely to mislead people. We live in a dynamic Country where diversity is embraced in different spheres, Politics, Religion, Cultures etc and the Story line of a Pastor who sleeps with women or abuse them in that light, is absolutely unacceptable. That is not what the Pastoral Office in Christianity is about.

I am therefore requesting Isidingo to please be sensitive and considerate by removing this Story line on the program, without having to quote any form of reference to justify my request.

Thank you!
