Wish i would have read these complaints before i dealt with these guys. Havent tried the steaks yet but the reps, one in particular, was all about the money. I was writing the check for $30 and as i was writing he told me that i could just move that decimal over (Make it 300) and he would give me a deal! I should have known right there something was up. That was being a little pushy. I 'd had a hectic day and wanted them to go. Thats my fault. Should have told them no. And to top that off my wife called me at 11:30pm and said these guys were rollin around the neighborhood. Kind of freaked her out cause i told them i was goin on vacation and couldn't afford anymore. Made her suspicious. Like i said havent tried the product yet, but definitely dont like their style. Even if the meats good i wont deal with them again. I paid them $30 to get rid off them. Thought it might have been cheaper the uppercuttin them in the jaw. Anyway, let you know how the meat was.

This is not a reputable company what so ever here are some of the names of the people that work in Michigan

Jeffrey Kosmyna (The Boss)
Theresa Montgomery (Top Seller)
Alexander Ciupka (Aka Big waste of space)
Joel Shown
John Barrera
Jennifer Wolfe LaRoque (Answers the Phones)

Do you know who actually invented door to door food sales? A man by the name of Mr Schwan, in1956 he grabbed 14 gallons of ice cream and sold it door to door.Hence the Schwan EMPIRE was born. Then in a suburb of Atlanta, a man by the name Harry Peadon invented the first 6 -box variety steak case, along with poultry, seafood and pork cases. At his peak he owned over 60 offices with over 120 reefer unit trucks. The meat was not graded but usda inspected neverless but with almost 6 pounds of solution and tenderized heavily.Due to personal demons in his life He shut down his operation 1n the mid 90s.Then came the offshoots of his company.(Copycats) the new mecca was Tampa, St Petersburg Florida. At one point there were over 15 organized meat companies in that area .Half of these companies soon starting to spread out throughout the country.I personally witness production of the steak cases of one of these companies. The hamburgers were made with 100% beef hearts, the ribeyes were shaped by a machine using the grisel and scraps from the butcher tables.I personally made 180k my first year as a salesman. Not everybody makes that kind of money but back then as we like to call it the customers were virgins/green.
Now get this! these companies would spread out(grow). They would open up satellite offices saturate an area and move on .There suppliers which are mostly located in chicago ie, STAMPEDE, inc-QUANTUM, inc would extend credit to these companies. When these companies were a million or two in debt .They would simply shut down and open up under a new name. Then they would go to another distributor or a third party supplier.
Now a word to the customer and employees of IOWA meat company .The company pays $63.75 a beef case, $52 for the poultry and $62 for the seafood and pork.If your tired of paying a truck charge and $120 a caseI, if you want to be an independent and pick up product for yourself you could call the third party suppliers (if you are customer just say you are a salesman and want to start buying from them)almost any modest size city has a cold storage where other independents pick up .The reason i am giving you this information is that IOWA MEAT COMPANY IS SHADY>INSERTING 4 MONTH BURGERS INTO FRESH CASES.THAT IS A SLEEZE MOVE .. you make the rest of us good guys look bad with your greed.

Two salesman from the Iowa steak co. came to my house and they both looked very shady. One of the gentlemen kept asking if he could come inside? We did buy a box of meat because of the deal we thought we were getting, but soon as i came inside I googled the name and all the complaints came up and the actual weight of the meat was not worth the cost! I tried to call the number the salesmen gave me and it no longer worked! Well my husband was so mad that he drove around until he found them and returned the meat and got our check back. When he got home he said that there were two more guys in the back seat and they whole truck smelt like weed. Do what you want on your own time, but please not while your driving around my house where kids play!

This company is HORRIBLE! They try to rip you off at every corner. I used my food stamps to buy from them, the delivery person told me to write a post dated check so that if my food stamps didn't come in the would cash the check then. I went in the whole 170 dollars because of bank fees and bounced checks from this company! Then they had the guts to call me and tell me that they never received any money?! It was a long and drawn out process. This company is a scam, and the steaks weren't even that good! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!

I really wish I would have checked online before buying from these transient meat-selling people. I got a case of what I was led to believe were filet mignon -- turned out to be grisly, membrane-y plops of some part of some poor cow, I'd wager a "spent" milk cow. I won't fall dummy to that [censor] again.

I just had these guys come to my front door and offer to sell me a $300.00 case of meat for $165.00. I was little weary as the first guy told me it was $2.00 a steak-not a bad price-then then other guy-Tim-wanted to go into my house because he was cold. I explained I had a very sick child laying on the couch in the front room and didn't want to share that bug with the reps. I looked at the meat and explained to them that my family doesn't eat most of the cuts they were offering and already had premade hamburgers in the freezer. I gave in, even though I have only ever purchased from the S*****'* truck that used to come by, I purchased two boxes of steaks for $60.00 cash. When I got inside I found that I had purchased 20 steaks at a cost of $3.00 per steak but figured since they were the same ones that Outback uses-told to me by Tim and I had seen their truck at Outback a few days prior-that they were going to be well worth it. We didn't know not to defrost them so we defrosted enough for dinner tonight, they appeared to be fairly good sized steaks until I cut the vacuum packing, my son asked me where the meat was. We cooked them, they tasted fine, weren't tough or chewy pieces just wish the cuts has been a little thicker.

I bought a case of this recently on my door step. I got all the hoopla about what a great product it was at a low prcie, and they had to sell it right now. I've since tried a few of them. My opion is that its a low quality product. The meat was packed full of tenderizers and preservatives, but underneath that seemed kind of old and tastless. It reminded me of what you might get with breakfast at an out of the way freeway stop where the meat needs to be refrigerated a long time. I'd have to give the product a thumbs down. Buyers beware.

Thats all they hire. They cant get upstanding people to work there because real sales men and women know a good product and wont work for a fly by night like Iowa Steak company. Buyer beware, If you want good meat go to your meat market. Iowa Steak sells poor meat for a very high price and all they care about is getting your money. Thats why all their so called employees are sub contractors.
DO NOT BUY FROM THESE GUYS. DONT BE FOOLED BY THESE GUYS.
They have no deals, they pay $99.00 to $108.00 for a case of beef that cost the owner of the company $50.00 and try and sell it to you for hundreds of dollars. there is less than 30lbs of beef and 18lbs of chicken, seafood and pork. If you buy from them at $299.00 for beef and chicken your paying over $6.00 a pound for VERY POOR MEAT and in most cases was in and out of their truck many times and for weeks.

Be very careful about letting these workers inside your house. An Iowa Steak Company pickup with freezer in the back was pulled over tonight on I-74 in Peoria this evening for going 100 mph while weaving in & out of traffic. Upon further inspection, he was found to be a recent parolee and I believe he was arrested for drugs.

Sounds like they are hiring some shady characters based on other peoples interactions with them.

They are pushy and you should call them back and demand your monry back.
You paid $30.00 for a box of poor meat that you could have gotten at any retail food club for $10.00
You will not be happy with your purchace.
The Iowa steak company sales reps pay between $16.00 to $18.00 a box and the company only pays $8.33 a box for meat that most people wouldnt feed their dogs.

I have a strange suspision that any good comments listed on here regarding Iowa Steak are fake, made up by it's employees. Bottom line is this company is no good, just like it's owners. Have doubts? Try them once and see for yourself. Bad meat and terrible customer service speak for themselves.

This is really scary. Me and my mom just bought steaks on Thursday from men in TACOMA at a gas station. They claimed they ran out of gas and needed money for gas and that they would sell me over $400 worth a meat for $150 I think. Well, after buying from them, they made it out of the gas station quicker than we did, even though we left as soon as we paid them. It wasn't right to lie to folks to get them to buy meat. The meat is pretty good, don't get me wrong. Since I was new to cooking vacuum packed frozen meat and there are no instructions for cooking the meat, I have the opportunity to play the guessing game when it comes to cooking times. One of the steaks have a delicious butter flavor to them, so that's something nice to say about it. Slap some salt, garlic powder, and black pepper on these steaks and they taste pretty good. And for meat that is frozen and to the stove, it is pretty tasty. But the vendors for this product shouldn't have to lie to sell their meats and there should be some instructions for cooking this meat, especially the ones that can't cook on a stove. Otherwise, it isn't bad.

I used to work for this company. Chris Maselka is the owner and he doesn't care about his employees. He takes advantage of their hard work and will push you as far as you allow him to. He is guilty to money laundering.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY BECAUSE IOWA STEAK ONLY CARES ABOUT MAKING MONEY...THEIR CUSTOMER'S COME LAST. THE MICHIGAN OFFICE SUCKS AT GETTING BACK TO CUSTOMERS. IOWA STEAK HAS A 3 DAY RETURN POLICY BUT IF YOU CALL WITHIN THOSE DAYS THEY DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO NOW SPEAK TO YOU AFTER THOSE THREE DAYS SO THAT YOU CANNOT RETURN THE MEAT.

These people will not leave me alone. Thier salespeople are rude and now that I won't even open the door, they are beginning to become intolerant with thier attitude. Really now, is this ANY way to sell anything? Especially meat? Like anyone would buy meat from some rude guy in a broken-down truck? Are you serious? One more time at my door and I WILL CALL THE POLICE.

I just had two representatives of this company return to my residence this year. Despite no trespassing signs posted, they drove down my driveway and exited their vehicle. I politely asked them to leave, and they became very persistant and demanded to know why. I told them that I was not satisfied with their product and service and would appreciate it if they did not return. Last year they took my elderly parents for almost $1000 in product, even though I asked them not to push them to buy since they are on a fixed income and were not well mentally. Despite my polite request to leave, they began following me around my home, to the back yard, and pushing me to listen to their sales pitch. I again asked them to leave, but they persisted. I then reminded them that they were on private property and threatened to call the police if they did not leave. They returned to their car, cussing all the way, in front of my children no less; but then sat in the driveway for another 5-minutes, for no apparent reason. I then approached the car and demanded them to leave my property again. Unbelievable, they drove to the end of the driveway, and then sat just off my property on the roadside, smiling and making gestures at me and my family from their vehicle. It amazes me that there is any question as to the ethics of this company. A couple days later I went to several of my neighbors and shared my experience, advising them of this apparent scam. I'm sure some company rep will respond by saying that this is a unique personell issue, and not representative of the company. However, I phoned their company to report this incident and was completely played off. How sad :(

It seems to me that there are many people who enjoy making claims that Iowa steak is a 'rip off' and lies and such. How many of these so called "claims" are from people who write bad checks to feed their family this terrible meat for free? people who cant afford the 'grocery' store, and turn to a reputable company and slander their very being because they sit online and conjure complaints instead of getting a job! so disappointing! i have bought off this steve evans character twice now, and he has always taken care of any concern my wife has given me. ( as a matter of fact., he held a check for two weeks to help us out ...since my wife was just laid recently. God bless you steve and iowa steak co.!

I just had my first encounter with a door to door Iowa Steak salesman. He was a polite nice 20 year old kid who was innocent but armed with untrue information. Bottom line - Iowa steaks are injected with up to 19% solution of various things including soy protein. This is perfectly safe, but it is only done for one of two reasons: to make an inedible steak more edible or to increase weight to make the price appear cheaper. They are labeled USDA Choice, but the presence of injection tells me they are just a notch above Select. I felt bad for the kid but the company poorly trained him. Some of his "untruths" with my comment following:

"Iowa Steaks are USDA inspected unlike supermarkets" - all meat sold through interstate commerce must be
"Supermarket chicken is yellow because of marinades they add" - must be labeled if so; feed influences color
"The marinade is to make them last a year" - N2 packaging gives the shelf life, marinade is to improve yield, texture and/or flavor
"We 'triple trim' " - sounds like extra labor cost to me

Buyer beware! this company sells door to door for a reason, their product is inferior to that from your local grocery store. I stopped the check payment and Steve came back to pick up his sorry excuse for meat. He then submitted the check to a collection agency, and now they are calling me about it. If these guys come to your door tell them to hit the road. Save yourself from the hassle they bring on.
It's to bad that these kind of people are allowed to walk the streets, while ripping people off.

My elderly parents were recently scammed by one of these guys, who worked his way into their home and ended up talking them into nearly $1000 of meat by promising them that he would take post dated checks. They are on a fixed income, and this was devistating. Also, the meat in the boxes was not the same cuts he promised. How very sad. Then, they went next door to my 95-year old Grandma's house and scammed her too. Next time they come back, I will ask them to leave with shotgun in hand.

Iowa Steak Is a FRAUD COMPANY! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! Meat is terrible and when you want to return the meat they never call you back. On the back of there receipt it clearly says that if they do not make the attempt to pick up the meat with in 20 days the customer may keep or dispose of the product. One day a rep came to my door and I bought 250 worth of meat. I hour later I called them up and told them to c0me get the meat because the vacuum packing was loose and the meat was freezer burnt. I called 4 times and then on april 4th they tried to come out to get the meat but I wasnt home. The note left said please call to reschedule. Now let me ask all of you this... If the note says please call to reschedule what does that mean? That means they will come out again to get the meat right? Well after april 4th I called 7 MORE TIMES and they never called me back. 3 months later I get a letter in the mail from there collector demanding the money plus a 30 return check fee! I called IOWA STEAK up and they said this----- What you expect us to come out 10 or 20 times? I told them no I dont expect that but your receipt doesnt give a limit to how many times you will try to pick it up. Besides when they left that note on April 4th it clearly says please call to reschedule. So within the 20 days that im givin to return the meat to them I called 11 TIMES! I will never do business with them again and will say nothing but negative reveiws for this company. I have currently hired a lawyer to resolve this since we cant use our checking account since they have flagged it. Save yourself the frustration and go buy meat from your local grocery store. Meat is 100% better and they will not screw you like this company does. I did find out from other postings that they wont call you back to get the meat because they can use that as an excuse. They think that if they dont call you then they can say that the customer never called them. They drag it on for the 20 days and then after that your stuck with the meat and the payment. The try really hard not to call you back. Dont believe me? Look at the other reviews.

I think this happens with only certain reps in certain areas, I'm sure corporate is not telling them to do this but in my opinion it's coming from local sales managers with quotas telling there people to do this or do whatever it takes to sell the product to make money, I personally have delt with this situation and it would only be the reason I don't buy from them anymore, but not becuase of the quality of the meat, what I bought and used thru the winter was all good meat and good quality, I just cooked the last of it last week and it all tasted great.

I live in Ohio and bought some of this horrible meat on 3/5/09. I asked for a refund - they stated that they would not cash my check and bring it back in a few days. They cashed it and came the next day for the meat!
I filed a dispute with my bank. Steve from the Akron office said that he will not give a refund. Horrible customer service, completel lies told to us. Our saleman actually told us that they were Omaha steaks - which are very good- I will only buy from them now on!

I completely agree. I had the exact same scenerio, but I warn you, the refund check I recieved from them was no good. Not only was the money taken back out of my account, but I was charged an additional $30 fee for cashing a bad check.
