I just discovered the truth about Intelius and that truth is that they are not a trust worthy business. Early last month (April '09) I purchased a one time people search/address look-up information @$1.95 (a one time fee.) I am now being charged for a monthly membership fee @ $19.95 per month. I Never authorized this subscription. I was duped! Tomorrow I will contact my bank to disputed the 2 charges of $19.95 already fraudulently charged to my bank card. Wow, this is crazy. After reading all the review, I'm getting worried ~:-/

Same thing happened to me. Looked up a phone number and next month a charge on my credit card not only included a charge of 99 cents but a subscription to their identity protection service of $19.95 per month.

Worse yet Intelius passed on my credit card info to another scam service called Valuemax who also began charging me $19.95 per month for something I never requested.

Called each company who agreed to credit those charges, and did, only to charge me again the next month.

Still working it out with my credit card issuer.

i just got a .99 charge on my bank account. two days later the subsciption charge of 19.99 was put in. howver before i saw these i had never even heard of this company before. and have obviously never been to there web site, let alone agreed to any charges or subscription. if this guy only does this to a thousand people he is stealing more than 20, 000 a month. this company is at best has morrally depraved buisness practices. and in my case outright illegal.

I went through the same thing. They told me that I had agreed to the service. I disputed that, but they have a very dangerous no-refund policy. Stay away from intelius! We will be doing our background checks through someone else now. They have lost our business and our respect due to these deceptive tactics.

If you select a promotional price on the Intelius website, you will also receive a free 7 day trial of Identity Protect. After the 7 day trial, it will convert to a regular subscription and bill out at $19.95 monthly.

However, there’s no obligation. If you determine within the 7 day trial that you no longer want Identity Protect, you can cancel your service anytime, online or over the phone with a customer support representative.
