Intelius idnetity theft and fraud

Beware Of Intelius!

This is a fraudulent company very deceptive, corruptive, steals your identity your name and other personal information and then put in different other names and then if you click on a name that is similar to your last name but will show up as another name with your same last name but when you click on that name it will advertise your name and I found them doing this to me with server pages of the same related name but I had nothing to do with these other people. I requested the company to remove this false advertising of my name they refuse and will do it even more. This is a scam company and also will put false information about you and also will refuse your request to remove your information. They have an opt out but they do not honor that instead the more information you give to these ### the more they will have the opportunity to steal and then abuse it! They also work with the Government whom are also involved with this scam because they also make money out of abusing your good name and because they are the law they feel they can get away with this scam and I and my family are victims of this fraud and scam. Even when you think that the so called reputation companies are out there to help you well don't go to them they are the same way they will take your information and will resell it to other companies whom in return will sell your information falsifying the information and then try to charge you to take it off! They are all crooks! They are scums, frauds, identity theft is involved, abuse, and totally internet scam and all of the internet searches such as whitepages.com addressbook.com, checkmate.com, intstantcheckmate.com, mugshots.com, justmugshots.com, mobilemugs.com, Fraudbug.com, [redacted].com, Intelius.com, Amazon.com, Dirtsearch.com, Peoplefinders.com, Peoplesmart.com, Spokeo.com, peekyou.com, findita.com, perserch.com, Raider.com, Scout2.com, Reunion.com, Ancestory.com, Archieves.com, are all apart of this internet scam! So beware before you do anything on the internet! Scams are there of all sorts and it is a very good idea to not let these companies get away with fight them! So as far as I am concern I will do what ever is in my power to make people aware of this scam even US Dept. Of Education is well noted to scam students thousands of dollars worth of tax refunds! Don't let them get away fight against internet and other scam crimes even if the Government is involved don't let them get a way! Get them back! I am not sure but complaintsboard probably is also a part of this scam abuse and fraud! Put all these companies in their place DONT LET THESE SCUMS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU! INSTEAD DO WHAT IT TAKES TO PUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS! Look at all the thousand of complaints and negative reviews for Intelius and others like them and DONT LET THESE SCUMS GET AWAY WITH CRIME!

Intelius wrong information

I recently Opted-Out my name from the the Intelius people search website. When checking their site after searching my name, they had wrong addresses, wrong relatives associated with my name. I submitted the needed information to Opt-Out and it appeared that they took down this misinformation. Now after checking their website a month later, I noticed that there is an individual with the same "first" and "last" name as me, but different middle name, different age, different gender, that is having several of my addresses and relatives being associated to their Intelius profile. This other person lives in states that I have never lived in, has a completely different middle name, has a different DOB, different gender, has different named relatives, and entirely different addresses than me - but is having some of my information aggregated in with theirs.

This is a dangerous thing and should be illegal. Publicly available information does not mean randomly aggregating different people's data into one wrong profile. An on line people search company or data broker that is posting wrong data or aggregating wrong data about someone needs to be held legally accountable.

The bottom line is - Intelius is not a reliable data source or aggregator of data. I my case, they did not follow instructions when errors were brought to their attention, have been incompetent, negligent, and have actually made things worse for me. I forgot to mention that in the past I have had to Opt-Out several times before from Intelius and they did not correctly remove data.

I am so angry at these people that I am contacting a privacy attorney (law firm) to see what options are available. I am hoping that the Federal and State internet-privacy laws soon change to give the consumer more power to leverage against companies like Intelius. Consumers should have the right to stop or correct wrong information from being disseminated whether it be from an online people search company or the actual data broker source. Hopefully more people that have similar bad experiences with Intelius voice their concerns or complaints to the FTC.

I just wanted the 95 cent one time one lookup for an address. They have already charged me twice, once for $20.00 and another for $2. I never recieved any info and they would not answer their phone. They are a total scam. Low lifes. If the government won't do something about these scammers maybe the people should. I see all of these complaints and no action.

Intelius intelius scam! beware

Intelius id theft protection is a scam. Instead of protecting your identity they will steal it! Intelius is actually a data broker. They collect personal data and resell it to the public. Intelius has very bad reviews and thousands of consumer complaints. They have been sued several times. Becareful, for $19.99 a month they will not do anything for you except pocket your money. They have no ability to freeze your credit report file if someone steals your identity. Why? Because, the top 3 credit reporting agencies experian, equifax, and transunion do not want to associate with this scam company named intelius. So, please beware and do your research first.

Bull ! Intelius illegally accesses people's credit files through Experian. This violates FCRA laws. The information you are selling is partially obtained from public records but, MAINLY, from their credit reports. How do I know ? Because Intelius sells Credit Reports and Credit Fraud Protection. As such, I know you have a partnership with Experian and your computer servers are connected. My reference is the ongoing federal FTC investigation of the relationship between Experian and Intelius. This investigation began December 2012 and is still ongoing. Intelius falls under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) but you deny this fact. SHADY SHADY BUSINESS !
PEOPLE: PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR SCAM. THEY ARE RIPPING PEOPLE OFF. THEY CHARGE YOU A RECURRING MONTH FEE ON YOUR CREDIT CARD WHEN YOU NEVER SIGNED UP. I'M WAITING TO JOIN THE NEXT CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WHEN THE FTC FINDS INTELIUS GUILTY OF ILLEGALLY ACCESSING PERSONAL CREDIT FILES AND NOT DISCLOSING THEIR WRONGDOING.

I heard through the grapevine that my exhusband was in jail so I logged on to Intellius to check it out. They charged me $19.95 for 15 year old information. Now, 2 months later, they have charged $19.95 to my debit card for nothing. I did not authorize a continuing charge. I want it to stop immediately and the current charge to be removed.

Intelius unlawful charges to my cred. card

This company occasionally submits charges of $20.95 to my credit card without my permission. Apparently INTELIUS.COM is a people search online activity which I don't use, never had motive to use and although, I have requested a new credit card number, the charges continue to happen. This is not only bazzar but to my understanding this constitutes stealing from people. I don't know how INTELIUS.COM has access to my account, but even if they access people's accounts like the IRS may do, who the hell authorizes them to do what they are doing? I think the Internal Revenue Service is the only intity that may excercise direct withdraw without previous permission and even doing so one would have had receive a series of notices before such action is taken. I have not received anything and don't know how and why this INTELIUS.COM may do this. Can anyone please do something to stop this action. I call the number listed on their site and never get through a live human being.

I thought I was paying a one-time charge of $19.95 to get background info on a person. Instead I subscribed to an identity protection package that I did not want or need! This site is very deceiving, but the worst thing is, they will NOT refund any of the money for your monthly "subscription" to something you don't even know about. Don't ever give your credit card number to Intelius!

Beware when you use intelius.com. When you check out, you are tricked into subscribing to a 7-day trial membership, but you don't know it until you see your credit card bill weeks later. Even if you cancel, you get no refund. Why would you buy a membership anyway? There's no savings unless you use the service more than twenty times a month. Avoid Intelius. com!

Intelius gave out my bank card number

I signed up for Intelius to check to make sure a cop who has a lot of computer skills and access to records and computers in our county, was not posting false information to our names, because we had turned in a family member of his for selling photos of kids online linked to mature photos and content. Only to have Intelius sell or give out or bank account information to two websites who withdrew monthly fees from our account for over a year. Hey husband thought it was a service we use and didn't think twice about it until I noticed it and had no idea who they were. After some research these sights were supposedly clicked on during the Intelius payment section, yet they never sent a confirmation or evidence that I had clicked on them. Not only did they take over $1000 from us, a couple of times we had cancelled our card and we found that they somehow gained access to the new account saying we gave them per mission to follow our account! No way would we have ever done this! How scary is this! The bank would only go after the last two payments taken from them. What a scam this site is. Be very cautious! What ###, playing on people's emotions to check out their Internet status, as well as creeps that could be involved with children, then screw them in such a way! I waited and NEVER received the evidence that Intelius said proved I clicked on these two sites I supposedly signed up for!

Intelius unauthorized charges

I did a search online (once) on Intelius' website and I only authorized $6.95 to be taken off my credit card and they took that ($6.95) PLUS 19.95 which was unauthorized. When you do a one-time search, you're automatically put into a year long program (called membership), where they'll take 19.95 off your credit card every month -- BUT THEY DON'T TELL YOU THIS WHEN YOU DO THE SEARCH. You never authorize it. You don't discover it until you check your credit card balance and transactions and then you learn it. You can call customer service and complain and it'll be credited back to you and the "membership" cancelled -- but it VERY DEVIOUS AND FRAUDULENT that they do this without your consent. No where on their website does it show that you become a member and will be charged $19.95 a month (starting immediately). Their practice is devious and fraudulent. I can't believe they haven't been shut down.

I did a background check with Intelius and they gave me a subscription for $19.95/mo for identity protection! A service I never asked for, never authorized! THEY ARE STEALING from consumers! Then they make you wait 20 minutes on hold so they hope you hang up! I am disgusted! I am calling the better biz bureau! How can someone charge you for a service never purchased/authorized, etc... Please beware of these scams and the only reason i chose them was because they were the first to come up under search engines. I hope they get what is coming to them.

I used this service once and authorized payment of .99$ on my debit card which they deducted. Then they took $19.95 out this month without my authorization. I want to be refunded this amount ASAP and ensure they close use of my debit card. I have not been able to get them on the phone. Thank you. Susan Polk

I used Intelius for one time transaction just to find a person and the tool is very much user-friendly and easy to navigate. The service fee was charged yet I received an additional $20 charge several weeks later saying I have also purchased a 'Identity Protection Package' which I have never authorized this transaction and the order has never shown in my first transaction.

I called the customer service and it took me about an hour to get through; their customer service rep responded my dissatisfaction with 'there's nothing we can do because it comes along with your first people search purchase; therefore we cannot offer any refund.'

The ridiculous thing is, this identity protection has a totally different order number and if what he said is true, why I did NOT see any indication of this additional charge when I purchased their service the first time!?

Their search tool may be useful, but I am very disappointed about how they used my account info and charge me for something I have not been notified or aware of - I consider this almost like a deceit rubbing customers' money & rights.

I was charged and paid $4.95 for a valid search that I undertook. However, every month thereafter they have been charging me $19.95 for a subscription service that I did not knowingly authorize. And I don't believe that I have ever actually received anything from them for this. Unfortunately for me it's been going on for 6 months before I noticed it. I have asked AMEX to investigate the billing so at least the last 60 days of charges will be reversed. I tried calling them and got the automated message essentialyy saying " your call is very important to us but we are experiencing a lot of call volume and it will take 20 minutes to get to you so please go to our website...click".

Seems like a scam company! The website looks pretty legit. ...management team and credible board. Surprised that they would be associated with this type of practice. Glad I noticed this before the sum of money got to be too large.

I used Intellius for a people search and they didn't comply with service so was suppose to reimburse me for funds, which they did, But then kept charging my checking acct. for something I knew nothing about $19.95 for three months which kept my acct. in the arrears and now will not make right $80.00 to take care of all overdrafts. For Anyone wanting to use this site, I strongly recommend that you don't for they do not live up to their word. I am on a fixed income they took advantage of me I feel.

Intelius billing practices

Like many other people who have commented on Intelius, I used the service once to look up a phone number only to find during a review of credit card bills that I was being billed $19.95 per month for a service I did not sign up for. The good news is that some persistence on the phone with customer service resulted in five of six $19.95 bills being refunded. If you go this route, be tough because they'll start out offering to refund one bill, then two and so on. I just kept repeating that I was going to dispute all six charges with my credit card company. So, if you've been scammed, call and hang tough.

I appreciate your response, and the fact the company offered a refund on most of the charges. However, I would argue that you need to change your "opt-out" business model before you can be considered truly customer friendly. People should have to explicitly ask for a specific service, not be signed up just because they used a different, one-time service.

Intelius membership fee

Did the one time $0.99 charge to do a reversal phone look up. Did not receive any information on the number except that they could not find any information on the phone number. It was suppose to be a one time fee. Now they have charged me twice for $19.95 & have sent my bank account into over drawn. REALLY? One time fee, turns into $19.95 charges and you couldnt even give me the information on the phone number I wanted in the first place! Now I see all these complains on this website. I went onto their website to cancel the membership (That I never agreed too!) and have my husband calling customer service to see if they will refund any of the money they took from us that was not agreed upon. GEESH !

Intelius bogus (hidden) charges

This site sells an information package (or several types) that you can use to look up information of people (ie: old addresses, phone numbers, etc). When you purchase the package (usually $4-$10), they are "sneaking" in a monthly subscription that costs $19.95 a month for some sort of credit monitoring program. They will cancel it and not charge you IF you do so within 7 days of your order. The problem is, they don't TELL you that you are buying it until it shows up on your credit card transactions...exactly 8 days later.

Be warned, there are hundreds or thousands of businesses out there that DON'T have to stoop to deceptive practices to get enough money to stay in business. Avoid this company (and any other) that feels compelled to "sneak" additional charges on your original purchase.

Scammers, deceivers, liars, crooks...they should all be shot.

Thanks to this website I have just managed to cancel my Intelius 'membership' - I agree that the way it is done is sneaky in the extreme. I thought I was signing up for a $4 address check, and I suddenly noticed, looking through my credit card bills, that TWO unwanted and as far as I am concerned unauthorised payments, totalling $32 or so, have been taken from my credit card. I am ABSOLUTELY FURIOUS, and I have cancelled immediately, but in my view to do business like this should be illegal - the fact that there were 'continuing payments' was in the smallest of small print, and I certainly didn't understand what I was letting myself in for. Intelius, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Intelius scam? oh, yes!

Very interesting. The registration asks if you want identity protect, and allows you to reject it. But once rejected, it automatically signs you up for it, anyway. Now I have to go through disputing any unauthorized charges to my credit card. Then they claim they will only remove your data from their system if you send them a copy of a legal ID, like drivers license, etc. Very bad news. Stay away from these people, definitely a scam.

I did order some info on a property in Buffalo, N.Y. The cost was less than $5.00. They took $5.00 from my account, and then $1995. I did not authorize the $19.95. What can I do to get it back and not have them charge me more? My complaint earlier today was not accurate. This account is!

These people offer a one time reverse phone look up for a small fee $2 to $5 then when you give them your payment information they offer you a monthly subscription to the service for a monthly fee. Even though you say NO to the monthly subscription, once you give them your payment information they just enroll you anyway and the charges just start appearing on your statement.

I noticed-- in Monitoring my Chase Mastercard--that there were unauthorized charges of $19.95 debited to my account on 12/30/2010. I have no idea what this would be for, and did not AUTHORIZE ANY transaction
to anyone for this amount. I called the phone # for this account, and learned that this 'SB Family Fun Rewards '--is some program handled/offered by JCPenney CO. --I HAVE NOT PURCHASED, NOR DONE BUSINESS IN ANY WAY WITH JCPENNEY FOR OVER 6 YEARS !
The only thing it says on my Chase Mastercard bill is a charge of $19.95 from: Int*Intelius SB
with a transaction # 55432860364000258076545 ---no other explanation is given.
I WANT MY NAME REMOVED IMMEDIATELY FROM THIS UNSOLICITED 'PROGRAM' ( WHATEVER it is ) AND I WANT THIS CHARGE REFUNDED TO MY CHASE MASTERCARD IMMEDIATELY.

In January of 2011, I signed up with Intelius to look up a phone number for me for the fee of $0.99. I understood that with it, I would have to sign up for a free trial membership with the company but could cancel prior to free trial ending. I found the service to not be helpful but figured that for $0.99, there's not much I could really expect. Shortly after, I canceled the membership that I was OBLIGATED to sign up for. I just realized today that I had still been charged $19.95 ever since then. I should have reviewed all the charges on my statement sooner but I've never experienced this type of unethical practice before. When I contacted Itelius about these unauthorized charges, they stated that I didn't completely cancel my account as I was misled to believe. Intelius purposely manipulates customers by signing them up for TWO memberships. So while I assumed I canceled my account with them, they happily charged me for something I did not want or ask for. I am outraged that they are able to continue to cheat people out of their hard earned money. I spoke with Manual and then his supervisor Kim (#8738) and while they repeated their scripted apology, stated that they could only give me a refund for three months. They know that they are wrong but are only willing to resolve 30% of their crimes.

Naveen Jain is the founder of Intelius. His company rips people off through various techniques (internet pop up ads etc.). Once they have your info, the only way to stop their repeated bogus charges is to call your card issuer and submit a Declaration of Unauthorized Use. You must specify the exact charges that were fraudulent by attaching copies of your statements, then your bank gets to decide if they want to credit your account or not. Even though Intelius is clearly a company that depends largely on fraudulent charges for undesired services, it turns out that many companies, including Apple (iTunes) and Microsoft and many other "legitimate" companies generate lots of fraud complaints to credit card issuers. As such, MasterCard and Visa et al seem unlikely at this point to reject Intelius charge requests. One may always write to Naveen Jain and tell him what you think of his garbage company and their unethical business practices: naveen@intelius.com. Or you could send him a letter to his home at 8206 Overlake Drive W, Bellevue, WA.
