Over the phone I opened a cd and ask if with my other accounts, would I be fdic insured up to 200, 000. The answer was a lie, they said yes and now I'm losing $15, 000. We should all file a class action lawsuit!

:*-( Sorry bout the luck. You need to research more when you invest. While they misinformed you, you should have known better than to accept a verbal answer over written proof. Hopefully, you learned from the experience. And, btw, without written proof of the answer, or a confirmed voice conversation that was recorded, not much you can do. Even if there was, I am not sure that you could since it is now under the protection of the government...

I am one of the thousands of depositors that had uninsured funds at Indymac Bank. I had two CD’s with the bank I was assured that my accounts were properly insured by representatives at Indymac. One account was held as an individual insured by the FDIC for 100k and the other account was held as a trust with two beneficiaries (ITF’s) and insured by the FDIC for 200k. I have been informed by the FDIC that one of my beneficiaries on my account is not “qualified” and I have uninsured losses that exceeds 105k. I am not the only depositor that was ill-advised, misinformed, or lied to by Indymac Bank and the government needs to step-up and help people that were fraudulently induced to deposit more than FDIC limits by Indymac.

Hello everyone.
It’s not a matter of getting “better informed”, we tried to make sure that we were insured. When you go to your Doctor you expect him/her to know what they are doing, when I go to my Bank I also expect the people that work there, at least the Manager to know if the funds are Insured, and if they do not know they should say so, not say “You are insured, you can bring more money in”. I was told I was insured, and I have it in writing. I was also told, initially, that I was insured by the FDIC Claim agent, have it on tape, and two weeks later someone else calls and says, "No you are only partly insured in one of the accounts". Adding insult to injury they still have my accounts locked, as of 08-10-2008, without an explanation, other then it takes, 2-3 days at first, then 3-5 days, then 5-7 days, now it’s 7-10 working days.
An investigation should be started to look into the legality of the FDIC to lock your accounts after they were deemed insured.
I would be willing to participate in a Class action suit if an Attorney wants to start it.
Thank you, for your time.

Does any one know of any class suits has been filed on behalf of the depositors?

I had a similiar experience about being lied to about my accounts being fully insured. I was told by the bank and also the FDIC that they were, and now I'm out $115, 000. I would be interested in joining in a class action suite.

Please e-mail me if you know of a class action suit being joined against IndyMac Bank. They misinformed me that I was insured by FDIC up to $200, 000 by adding one beneficiary (ITF) to my CD account of 180, 000+ only to discover that you needed TWO beneficaries to get the $200K. Will support proscuting them as to the full extent of the law, even if it means taking it out of the fat cat owners hide or the employees who misinformed me! I'm Pissed!!
