My wife and I were treated like dirt when we entered this establishment. It was as if we were not welcomed in this establishment. First of all, we just wanted to go orders so we stood at the front counter for approximately 5-10mins., before anyone asked if we wanted to order something. When the waitress, with no name tag, asked if we were waiting long but heard us walk in, it was like a slap in the face. Upon taking our order, she begin have a bad attitude with my wife and refused to help with a basic consumer question. Upon deciding that we were the only African-American customers in the place, we begin to feel as if we were not wanted in this establishment. Upon canceling my order with the Manager, I observed that he was not wearing a name tag and knew exactly what I had ordered. I have never felt so violated in my life and I am a big IHop fan but this episode has ruined the joy of IHOP for me and my wife. This incident happened at approximately 0430 hours on 1/11/09 and I just had to let it be known.

I went to the IHOP (Atlanta) in Buckhead on Peachtree at about 11pm with family after an outing. When we arrived the outer apperence was shaby but we were hungry. Since we all agreed on this place we stayed. When we walked in it was very hot then when we ordered our drinks the waitar did not return with them for until promped. Then she took out food order and some food was burned, cold, and rotton. We tried to be patient with the staff. But you wouldnt believe that things got worst. We had to ask for the bill and when it came it was on e big bill, we were never asked how we would pay. So I told hte waitar that since it was two seprate bill and asked her to split it. She told me that after 10pm that they print one check per table. The she told me that she would give us a pencil and paper to figure up the totals. When we told her that we were not going to do that she told us she would call the police. We just sit down and waited. Well she called and told the police that we refued to pay. Then we told them and it want like that that we just wanted seprate tickets. Needless to say she had to print seprate tickets. To top it off our waitar was the manager and her attitude was bad. All I can say Never eat there!

I asked for never ending pancakes with apples and whipcream. I didn't find out until I got them that I would be charged a dollar for the toppings. Not only that but I would have to pay another dollar each time I asked for more pancakes. Didn't get anymore pancakes. I wish I had just ordered the special pancakes for 1 more dollar than the never ending pancake. I would have got 4 pancakes and no extra charge. I really loved IHOP and now I am really turned off. I did let them know about it and he looked at me like well that's the way it is. The serves was slow and the new guy didn't know what to do. I assume he is new anyway.

Went to IHop the waitress ask us what we would like to drink, we said diet coke, she replied, were out of diet coke, but we have coke zero, which was fine, we then placed our order, she then replies, were out of these foods, so she gives a long list of other food items they were out of. so i said, ok, i will take a hamburger and fries, she takes our order back to the kitchen, within a couple of min's she comes to our table and replies "your not going to believe this, were out of hamburger patties too.. I have no desire to go back. this company should have never ran out of food, it was the day after christmas.. there was a couple that was sitting close by and they turned to us and said we had to order breakfast, because they did not have what we wanted... I do want to say, the waitress was very kind...

On Wednesday September 9, 2017 We took our daughter and son in law to ihop to have supper. My husband and I have never been there before and wanted to try something different.
Jonathan asked our waiter if they had chicken fried steak, he replyed yes, he again said chicken not steak. The waiter than answered again yes. When our food arrived and he took a bite he quickly said this is steak (he does not eat steak). We finally got the waiter back to our table and Jonathan told him that it was steak not chicken. The waiter said well that is what we call chicken! He then said let me get the manager.
It took several minutes for him to arrive at our table. Jonathan then explained the conversation to him.
The manager then replyed We dont have country fried chicken. Jonathan said again, you dont understand what I am trying to say. I asked the waiter twice if he had it and he said yes! Thats why I ordered it. The manager then said what do you want me to do about it I told you we dont have chicken. At this time I spoke up and said he would like something else, he said o.k. what.
Jonathan said a bacon cheeseburger only with no sides.
He turned to walk away and I said we also need refills on our drinks they have been empty for a while. As he walked away he said he would take the steak off our bill but we would still have to pay for the burger. I said fine.
At this time everyone had finished there meals and we were waiting on the burger.
Oh, by the way we never got refills. We finally got the attention of the hostest and she got them for us.
Jonathan`s burger and our bill arrived at the same time.
I asked the waiter why the burger was $7.99 if he didn`t want any sides with it. He replyed it was the same price with or without. Don`t you think the manager should of told us that. He just shrugged his shoulders.
At this time we were all frustrated and ready to leave. Jonathan did not eat his burger and we left. My husband did leave a tip (against my advice) and we payed our bill and left. I would tell you the managers name but he had no name tag and never told us. We wont be back!

I am a server at this particular IHOP and just wanted to let everyone know that this place is a zoo! The management here is horrible. The place itself is dirty as hell! It got so bad that customers were walking out talking about how bad it smelled and how nasty the restrooms were. Even though i do enjoy the pancakes, i would strongly reccomend that you go a different IHOP if you would like to keep eating IHOP food! The cooks smoke in the kitchen, don't wear anything to keep hair from falling into the food, and sexually harass the servers. I get complaints everyday about the quality of the food and the GM ONLY hires females that he considers "pretty" or has a "nice ###". They are a bunch of perverts. Please think long and hard about going to this IHOP before you leave your home expecting a nice breakfast!

I don't work at any restaurant, or fast food. What I want to say is that by eating in these places, and one particular, Ihop on Williams Blvd, Kenner La, the lousy customers that I have witnessed to some of the waitresses, get away with it. The managers make the waitresses apologize to the ignorant customer, when the customer started it for nothing. I believe they should be new policies in every restaurant, if the customers starts it for nothing, kick their a.. out. Why should hard working waitresses have to take crap twice, from the customers and the managers. The reason I care, is because I have a heart, and a conscious, which most of you on here don't. Have some respect for the workers. To all you managers, get off your high horse and respect your employers, they work hard,

Employees are often asked to work shifts such as 4 PM to 5 AM. They are given little to no notice of their schedule. Often times employees will receive calls or text messages 2 hours before a shift to inform them that they are scheduled to work, and this is while there is absolutely no schedule posted. Overall, this establishment is run very poorly, but employees are frustrated due to the disrespect they receive from management which creates an environment of workers harboring deep seeded resentment toward those who are supposed to manage them but aren't.

Can anything be done?

I visited IHOP #5514 on 4/18/11 at noon. A woman outside near the newspaper stand shared with me that the computers were not working and it was hard to run a restaurant without computers, so I assumed she was an employee. I should have reconsidered going inside, but was craving some pancakes. Service was very disappointing--once my food was delivered, I never saw the waitress again. I had to approach her near the kitchen to get a check to pay. The food was also disappointing--eggs way over-cooked. Ordered Simply Fit 2x2x2. Since she did not come by to check on my food, I had no opportunity to complain. I was by now running late to get back to work, so did not take time to complain to the manager. I will not be likely to revisit.

I went to ihop on april 29, 2017. My mother ordered a spinach omelet with no meat. She ordered her food. She took a couple of bites and had a meatless round bone that looked like a finger in her omelet. She complained to the manager but she didn't do anything. My mom is threatening a lawsuit for almost breaking her tooth and/or jaw and the meatless bone looked like someone actually ate it before her, therefore she could get sick. Additionally, the waiters were eating like slobs speaking spanish. When they went back to cook I didn't even see them wash there hands. Due to this event, my friends and I are encouraging everyone wr know to boycott ihop.

Ihop your store in roseburg, or. needs a lot of attention. the entry way is "filthy". there is chewing gum stuck to the concrete and the exposed concrete is dirty, dirty, dirty! the window sills are filthy, cobwebs and dust on the exterior windows. rest rooms have broken tiles and the stools are -dirty. at times we found numerous flies in the rest rooms. the food was good but the overall experience left us to say-we won't dine here until they cleanup the store. the date of our visit was 6/11/10 at about 100:00 am.

My husband took me to IHOP for Mother's Day brunch. We waiting about an hour to be seated, but we expected that but that wasn't the problem. We were seated at a table without utensils. I asked our server, Sheri C., for utensils twice. After she took our order, we in a span of an hour, she didn't come to check on us once. Our combined order consisted of a pancake combo an order of scrambled eggs and toast. Meanwhile the mom and her son that got seated behind us at the same time we did, had eaten and since left. Also, a couple had come in 45 minutes after we were seated and got their food before we did. These two patrons as others served by a different server were coming and going before we got our food. After I complained to the manager and we got our food five minutes later, no longer warm, when Sheri brought it to us. She complained that the cooks "keep messing up her orders." My husband and I are not big eaters, but at this point my stomach was so upset I don't think I could've enjoyed the food if it was fresh from the kitchen. When we paid for our food, it was over two hours later.

I had a glass of water and halfway through drinking it, there was a fly floating around. I came so close to swallowing it! All the waitress and manager did was offer new water without even an apology nor offering compensation. I believe that is outrageous especially in the manager's part. Never going there again

ATTN: Consumer Complaints
IHOP Restaurant Support Center
450 N. Brand Blvd
Glendale, CA 91203
Dear IHOP Management:
This letter is to complain about service I recently received from the IHOP restaurant manager named Jose Chavez.
I visited the IHOP at 3760 N Halsted St in Chicago, IL on 4/17/2017 at approximately 2:00am, with a group of friends to dine in. After about 20 minutes of waiting for food, the waitress brought our food to the table. The intent to come and eat at the restaurant was in-part due to a friend of ours and former employee, not feeling well and needing some food. Our friend became ill at the table and regurgitated at the table, before being able to get up and go to the bathroom. This occurred, right after he took a few bites of the food that had just been placed on the table. The waitress came over to see if he was ok, and to ensure the food did not make him further sick; however the manager Jose Chavez, came over and said “he has to get out”. This is where my issue began.
I had to explain the issue to him several times because he did not seem to be listening and didn’t display any concern that a customer was sick, potentially due to the food he’s just ate. While talking to Jose, he turned and walked away in the middle of while I was speaking. The waitress returned to apologize for her boss’s behavior, which is very unprofessional that Jose himself did not express the same courtesy. She even told her boss what I’d attempted to advise him, that our friend has a medical condition, which is why he required food and was a former employee, to which his response was “well, he should know better”. Furthermore, after our friend returned from the bathroom and went outside for some fresh air, he attempted to return to eat, and was told by the host, he could not return inside. He asked if he could get his coat and was told, “someone will get it to you”. Another member of the staff told me he was outside, and upon me going out to check on him, he advised he was not allowed back in. Needless to say, I was quite frustrated at this point.
I walked back in to grab our coats and advised we were leaving after the horrible treatment we received. I also advised that I will contact corporate, and received no apology at all. In addition, we did not even get a chance to eat and enjoy the food we’d ordered. After walking out, Jose and the security guard stopped the last member in our group, telling him he had to pay $54.00 dollars for the food. Our friend advised that he felt he should not have to pay after such horrible, embarrassing service and with not even eating the food. Jose threatened him and advised he’d call the police, and the security guard stood in his way, forcing him to pay. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!
I expected a much higher level of service from your company, and I am quite disappointed. I am not only upset at how we were treated, but I find it reprehensible at the blatant racism that was displayed. We were the only Black customers in the restaurant at the time, and this is not the first time we’ve been treated poorly at your establishment. I also witnessed Caucasian individuals who appeared to be intoxicated, act loud and belligerent and neither Jose nor any of the management team spoke to them or removed them from the restaurant. Because
I do not want to spend any more time on this problem, and will not continue to be treated with such disrespect by a company, I am not patronizing IHOP any further, and I expect a FULL refund of the money paid for non-service. We also demand an apology for the rude service, displayed to us. I will be informing my friends and family about this experience as well as my Alderman, The Better Business Bureau, The Rainbow Push Coalition, FOX News Chicago, Time Out Chicago Magazine and Out Magazine, to advise about the racism and intolerance allowed at your establishment. I will continue to blog about my experience on several complaint sites, including YouTube, to bring attention to this disturbing experience. I have also contacted the Chicago Department of Public Health, as my friend did not regurgitate until initially eating your food.
I am willing to speak further about this experience, and hope you take this matter seriously with all intentions to properly rectify the situation. I can be reached via e-mail at yaboyjay83@gmail.com

Sincerely,

Jerome

My fiancée and I love to indulge in IHOP every month, because we love their pancakes and breakfast foods. However, the last 3 times I've been to the IHOP in Morristown, TN I have been sorely disappointed in the service and food. It's like it went down hill and I'm not sure if that's because of bad management, bad employees, etc. Yesterday I ordered an omelette and my fiancée ordered pancakes and bacon. It took them almost 30 mins to get it to us, and I actually counted the number of people in the restaurant, there were 7. My omelette was over done and tough, where they had left it under lights. The "ham" in it was tiny tiny minced ham cubes, it was suppose to have hashbrowns on top of it and there wasn't a sign of them anywhere, the cheese was hard from being overdone, and in general, it just really sucked. The only thing good about the meal was the pancakes. The waitress was average. However, a group of waitresses off duty decided to sit among customers to eat and loudly discussed people and their tips and other staff. It was just obnoxious. I would normally let this go as a bad experience, but this hasn't been the 1st time I've had this experience at this IHOP. Basically if you go after 6 PM, you can expect mediocre food and service from them. I was there once and we had the most god awful waitress. Normally, I’m not hard on waiters, I don't mind if they mess up but try to make things right...this girl was just stupid. She got our orders completely wrong, she ignored us, she had hair that hung down in her face past her chin that dropped into food, she got our ticket wrong, then she sat down behind us and talked to a customer about how lousy her tips were. Needless to say, it wasn't hard to figure out why she wasn't getting tips. It just seems every time we go to that IHOP for dinner, it just ***. I wish they would get better management.

We go to this Ihop quiet often and have always had good service. Well on this trip it wasnt. I had Pancakes and eggs and when I turned my pancake to put butter and syrup on it there was a bunch of egg shells. When I told the waitress she just kinda laughed and said some Crunch with your hotcakes. I didnt find it funny at all. I didnt eat my food and had to go home and eat a peanut butter and Jelly sandwhich after paying good money for food Im couldnt eat. I am on SSI and I dont get to go out that often so when I do I really look forward to enjoying it. I though her attitude was rather rude... would she eat egg shells an d think it funny if it was there food. When I went to pay they asked if everything was ok and I said No and they asked why and I told them and they kinda snickered to. Makes me wonder if it was on Purpose.. Needless to say I wont go back and I LOVED there Butterscotch hotcakes

On April 25th 2017, it was our senior and junior prom at Carroll High School in Monroe, LA. And some of the seniors and juniors including myself were going to eat out and celebrated after prom. So we decided to go to IHOP in West Monroe, LA. Which was only 10 minutes away from Monroe. Monroe is a small city were alot of people who live there are African-Americans. The school of Carroll High is an all African American, small high school. But getting back, it was pretty much fine at first, the waitress ask for our orders and beverages and came back 10 minutes later with our drinks. 30 minutes past and we waited patientionly for our orders. Then 20 minutes past and we waited and waited, till we realized that we were waiting for our meals for way over an hour. We had also realized that many of the people who came after us had received there meals, ate, and had already left. The only people that did not recieve there order were most of the Carroll high students. So one of my fellow senior classmates ask the waitress there if our meals were coming any time soon and also if we can have a discount for there lateness. The waitress said no and went to the back to see if our orders were coming. When she came back she basically told us that we might as well leave due to the fact that your meals are not being started nor are they even are coming. When she told us that we were very upset and decided to pay for our drinks and leave. The manager told us to just go without paying. When we left IHOP and enter our vehicles to go home we saw two police cars parked and some police offices walking up to IHOP.

My family went to the killeen, tx ihop for brunch july 5, 2017. My brother in law ordered a meal with bacon and sausage. When we got our plates, he had a double portion of bacon, but no sausage. He was not upset, and no one made any complaint to the staff. He actually commented that it was fine with him. Then the waiter came to the table with a plate with 2 sausage links and stated that there was a mistake, and he was to get sausage with his meal. After my bil took the sausage off the plate and placed it on his own, the waiter held out another plate and stated "I need 2 pieces of bacon back".?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

So bil picked up the bacon with his fingers and placed it on the clean plate held by the waiter, who walked away with it.

Where did it go? Why did they need it back?

Whenever I have gone to a restaurant, if they made this type of mistake, they just give you what was missing, and let you keep the extras. What was going on here?

So, I had to ask. Of course at that point the waiter said they threw it away. And that the cook wouldn't let him give the sausage without the bacon back. Why? No one from our table made a complaint. The waiter offered the replacement. My bil was fine, and would have eaten the bacon without complaint.

My friends and I are frequent patrons at ihop [protected] centre point. We visit at least 2-3 times a week. We decided to visit the ihop on ashley phosphate in n. Charleston and were greeted by an unusual smell after deciding to keep up with our ritual we order in spite of the odor, the limited menu items, and higher costs. As we waited for our meal to be delivered we noticed layers and layers of dust on the borders of the wall around the window seals, shades and emergency lights, mildew, wet stains on the ceiling and spider webs. We then received our food and informed our server (Ashley) of the problem she kindly and remorsefully apologized and informed us that she will send over the general manager (George), a few minutes later (Joyce) the store manager presented herself slightly agitated and nonchalant about our complaints. She stated, “that they were working on cleaning up the store". I asked if a store is this dirty why not shut down for a day to get store in order? She replied that they were handling this and walked away. A few minutes later ashley came over to check on us and we told her after the attitude of her manager and seeing this place in this condition the kitchen may be worse therefore we did not want our food and believed we should not pay for food we had not eaten. We literally ate two spoons of our breakfast. Ashley informed her manager of situation, joyce came over to our table with officer with officer wallace id #193 and informed us if we did not pay he would file trespassing charges and arrest us for not paying. I have never experienced this kind of disrespect at any restaurant my friends and I vowed to never return to ihop.

ABSOLUTELY! I have seen many customers complain for no good reason and they dont think about the waitress. They wanna complain to get free food and MOST places write servers up for customer complaints and another thing TIP your waitress. Waitress jobs are not as easy as people think. They deal with a lot of bull**** from customers, managers and cooks. Unless they are really rude and you clearly see they are lazy or standing around in eye sight TIP them more than $2. cost of living is up and ppl still tip like its the 60's. 20-30% of the bill is good!

Ordering the food and eating it without paying IS STEALING. If the food comes out and it is not edible then why should the patron be forced to pay for it? I agree that speaking with the manager is the first option but many managers will not fix it. No police officer is going to arrest someone who gets bad food and refuses to pay IF THEY DIDN'T EAT IT. Now if they eat it and then complain and refuse to pay, then yes it is stealing. I don't think you read the part where I said DO NOT EAT YOUR FOOD IF SOMETHING IS WRONG.

ordering the food and not paying for it is STEALING! The idividual server is likely to call the police on you (as I have had to many times) because the store will force the server to pay for it out of pocket regardless of whose fault it is. I know that your first thought is that this practice is illegal. however this practice is as common as serving burgers with french fries and most emplyees will do it for fear or threat of loosing their jobs. rather than walkingout, simply request a discount or ask the manager politelyto comp the meal. he or she will probably understand and willlingly help you.

Next time your food comes out cold don't pay for it! Complain as SOON as you see something is wrong, don't wait. If they will not fix it then walk out, without touching your food. I know it is hard when you are hungry but if something is wrong it is the restaurants job to fix it. You seem very nice, which is wonderful, but you and your husband were clearly abused at this restaurant and I cannot believe you still paid for your meal. Remember that ordering a plate of food is not a legal contract and if you walk without touching it the restaurant can't stop you, no matter what the management may say.

being charged once for the toppings is acceptable. but everytime you get a plate really isnt.

i mean, you cant expect the waiter to say.. oh well the price is 4.99 but since you want apples and whipped cream it'll be 6.99. (that is, unless you asked if the toppings would be more?..)

They probably don't care if your no-wanting-to-tip-[censor] comes back. You are the one who screwed up and don't know what the hell you want. Are they suppose read your damn mind? Then you ordered a hamburger...BEEF!

you waited an hour for your food? I don't think so! Maybe an hour from the time you walked in the door, waited to be seated, got drinks, got your order taken, put your order in the computer, ate your food and was finished. That's your fault. If I had to "wait" for an hour, I'd have already left! DUH!

I used to go to IHOP with my family for their pancakes, but now we may want to keep in mind that the company has been exposed for food safety issues and animal cruelty in its supply chain. For more details, please check out www.humanesociety.org/ihop. I just wanted to make sure you were also aware of these issues so that you can make an informed decision before patronizing IHOP.

I went to the I.H.O.P ON Bel Air rd this past sunday. The genral manager is a complete [censored]. She talks to employees any kind of way. She never gives them breaks when you have worked for over six hours. The bathrooms are nasty and never clean. Also she takes money from the safe, and caleed a custumer a cry baby. I also heard that she takes money out of peoples checks if they don't eat their. Their are situations when people walk out on checks she make the employees pay for it when she should hire a cashier.

My husband abd I went to IHOP`S for breakfeast on 5/2/09 . We ordered fresh brewed ice tea for our drinks. When we received them the first thing out of my husbands mouth was "what is this"!? It looks likes something I`d flush down my toilit. The waitress got the manager and she told us that they don`t fresh brew anymore after we asked the waitress if it was fresh brewed and she replyed that it was. needless to say we ended up getting water. This was in Lees Summit, Mo..
