Idea Village Scam

I made a purchase online through this company for a pedi spin. I received a call to confirm my information and was told that along with my purchase, I will receive a free pair of massage footies to keep.. Just for ordering. But the customer service rep also told of a a "great savings plans off for $1.00, which would include 'incredible savings' from 'major retailers' and for purchasing this"savings packages", I would also be entitled to vouchers for free gasoline.. Mine also to keep. I was informed that I when I received my product, I would also receive the"savings packages"information detailing the terms, my free gasoline vouchers were mine to keep, and if, after I reviewed the information, there would be a cancel subscription number on the front of the invoice mailed and all I would have to do is verbally cancel my order by calling that number. I was told I would receive this package in 3-5 business days. The order was placed on 01/08/2013, according to the shipping copy I received. The product was not received until 01/19/2013! Upon opening my package, I received the pedi spin and the footies, but no gasoline vouchers... Nor did the"shipping copy"have any contact information for me to cancel my"savings package"! I received a return label; which I will certainly use!
Instead.. I have no way of contacting this company to cancel my subscription and this company has my mastercard information and will probably steal my money! Now I have to notify my bank that my debit card is at risk, wait for a replacement card, and in doing so will receive my income from direct deposit a full week or longer than on my payday!
These people also charged me $14.99 for the product and a processing/handling fee of $13.98 for a total of $28.97! I could have walked to the wal-mart down the street and bought the exact same product for $10.00 and some change! I feel like such and idiot! This has certainly been my worst online shopping experience ever!

I purchased product from Idea Village but didn’t receive anything. Shipping expenses were very high so I expected rather fast delivery. But instead of several days it took them forever... I managed to find Idea Village contact number but it is on voicemail all the time.

Idea Village Shadey Dealings

I had called what turned out to be Idea Village in order to get the Finishing Touch product- about which deceptive sales pitch I also have some issues. While placing this order, I was approached by an aggressive sales pitch pushing two different programs, Budget Savers and Shopper's Advantage. For $1.00 for each program the consumer is supposed to have time to look over the information to see if he/she wants to pay a monthly fee in order to get these supposedly fantastic deals. Just for looking at this stuff, the consumer is supposed to get a free gift card and free gas cards. I was told that the information would arrive in 3-5 days so I would have time to look it over during the 10 day introductory $1.00 period. When I had not received the paperwork a week after I placed my order for Finishing Touch, I called one of the rapidly spewed phone numbers rushed through by the aggressives sales woman and said I wanted to cancel. I did not want to be charged $29.95 and/or $34.95 for programs I would not be using and had no chance to see before the ridiculous charges were made.
Today, as I looked over my credit card online, I found unauthorized charges from these companies. I called the phone numbers that appeared with the charges and was told by one of the companies that they had received no cancellation but would initiate a refund, since it was only the FIRST $29.95 charge! I called my credit card company and told them what had transpired. The unauthorized charge was credited. For the other unauthorized charge of $29.95 I have to await Budget Savers action to reverse the unauthorized charge.
DO NOT DEAL WITH ANY OF THE ABOVE LISTED COMPANIES! THEY ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN RUSHING YOU THROUGH UNNECESSARY, EXPENSIVE, UNWANTED PROGRAMS. THEY ARE DECEPTIVE!
This is a very shadey group of people. The initial reason for contact was to purchase Finishing Touch, which I wanted only for the eyebrow tool. This tool is FREE but has an additional separate shipping charge. It is not shipped separately! And it is a part of the product, not an additional item. This I know because the information about the eyebrow attachment is integrated in the middle of the instructiobs included in the little pamphlet' it is not a separate piece of information and is not shipped separately to account for the additional shipping charges.

Idea Village Uglu

After ordering by phone one small pack of Uglu from promotion on TV...I received by Postal service two boxes of these glu strips (they priced at 29.98 each on the order) The shipping/handling they billed at $23.96... A total of $83.92 on my Visa! I was grilled by this promotional sales tape to accept and then of course buy everything from more Uglu products, $50 free Walmart coupon, many kinds of magazines, free vacation, etc! Today I was appalled to receive this order with the price of $83.92! I had figured my bill would be a total of $15.oo at the most!

I called and complained and the only recourse they give me is to send it back at my expense and my VISA would be credited. I asked about sending it COD and they said it would be returned to me and I would still have to pay the full amount on my VISA. No help there!

Idea Village did not purchase anything from this company

I did not purchase anything or spend any money on this IVP idea village on the date of October 25, 2010. However, it charges me $ 72.55 on my credit card. And now the transaction is still in the pending process. I just wonder is there anyway I can cancel the payment.
Thank you very much

Idea Village UGlu

I placed an order for UGlu, which was advertised on TV and via IdeaVillage for $10.00 + shipping. After providing my information and completing my order, I suddenly met with a whopping $59.63 charged to my card. I immediately contacted Customer Service to have my order cancelled, and was told I would have to wait 24 hours to cancel, as my order would not appear in their system until the following day.

I contacted them the following day and spoke to a Customer Service person who told me, after I had provided my information, that my order had been cancelled. Later that evening, I received an email indicating that my order had been shipped. Thinking this was an error on their part, I retained the email, but felt fairly confident that my order had been cancelled.

Two days later, the order appeared in my mailbox. I phoned "customer service" again and told them of the situation. They had no record of my cancellation and would not accept any responsibility for the misrepresentation of the price or even consider paying for the return postage.

I checked the emailed notification I had received and noted that the time the order had been sent was 3:14 AM, indicating that the order had been shipped before 24 hours had elapsed from the time of placing the order.

This is not a company I would recommend doing business with--they accept no responsibility for errors on the part of their staff.

Ideavillage is a scam company run by a guy who pretends to be civil and friendly. But he is the devil and his company is an awful place that treats its employees and vendors like Chinese factory workers: i.e., less than valuable subhuman replaceable parts. Khubani only wants to sell cheap pieces of crap that he can buy for $1.00 from some impoverished 3rd world nation, and for $19.99. He makes all the money and pretends to be erudite old money. But he's just ### vermin who takes 99% for himself. Screw the employee, screw the consumer. Khubani is an Indian who disrespects and sexually harasses women. He goes to China a few times a year to screw 15 year olds.Like all the people in his family, he thinks he's on a higher caste level than other people because he hasmoney, But All their poducts suck, and even their suppliers scorn him behind this back

This company is bad. I am the type that would add everthing to the cart & view it later before purchase. This company does not give you this option nor worn you. I am going to dispute the charges with American Express & refuse the order. By the way my order came out to be $176.80. I am going to end any business relations with this company & its affiliates. I was cleaning out my favorites tab & found this website on it. I did not remember adding to my favorites. Did anyone else had this issue? This is a desparate company, I hope they get sued up the ###.

Idea Village shoedini rip off

Normal check out for a "Shoedini" was anything but normal but, when I was finished at the confirmation page, complete with confirmation number, it got even worse. They still refused to give me my order total and listed my Grand Total as "Estimated" I still don't know what they will charge my credit card.

after a commercial, i looked at their page and wanted to get some for my grannies and cousin with a bad back. They had a $5 discount per order. Either millions of people are buying it that they discontinued the promo in 15 mins because my page timed out and made me do it again.
So when i submitted my order, apparently, the shipping is doubled per item. Basically im paying $14 for shipping per set (buy1 take1). you dont see this on site, but it is in the FINEPRINT at the bottom.

"Offer Details: ShoeDini is the world’s 1st shoe horn that lets you get your shoes on and off with ease. Today through this special offer you’re getting the ShoeDini plus the Shoe Renewer for only $14.99 plus $6.99 shipping and handling. For just an additional $6.99 shipping and handling, we'll double your order and send you a second ShoeDini and Shoe Renewer FREE! Canadian orders will have an additional $3.00 shipping and handling added (all funds are US). NJ/CA will have applicable sales tax."

Kind of annoyed. I wish I just did a separate transaction and had the shoehorns sent straight to the recipients instead. I mean, i got charged $27 for shipping, $31 for the 2 sets of goods. $27 for 4 boxes that will all go to the same place. (They better wrap all four individually at least!)

Idea Village Unethical E-Commerce Sales Tactics

This is a complaint regarding IdeaVillage Products Corp. and their improper, and perhaps illegal Internet e-commerce practices I encountered while purchasing “HD Wraparounds” sunglasses via their website at:

https://www.hdwraparounds.com/ver18/index.asp?refcode=hdwrap18&did=&aid=

AND AT:
https://www.tvproductscentral.com/hdwraparounds/ver2/index.asp?did=644&refcode=hdwrap2

OR AT:
https://www.gethdwraparounds.com/

The website’s design and sales tactics never – not even once – allowed me to see in advance the actual shipping charges, and did not permit me to see and verify my order. A series of “Special Offer” pop-up windows (even though my “pop-up blocker” was and is “ON”) kept offering either a better bargain, or a warranty, or – finally (the pop-up that blocked my view of my actual order page) – a “$10 Rebate” offer which was worded to imply I could get $10 off of that order immediately. Once I clicked on that offer, the next webpage was a $10 rebate off of a direct-buy buyer’s club service only after trying that service for 30 days. I tried the browser “back” button to go back to my order page, but never could, and clicking out of that $10 rebate page just closed the whole window, so I never once had an opportunity to actually preview and verify my order, and never got to see the absolutely OUTRAGEOUS shipping charges for two pairs of sunglasses.

During the preceding order process, I had selected the standard shipping, 5-10 business days, but no dollar amount was shown on that shipping-selection page, so I kept expecting to see an “Order Preview” page at the next step, where I could also see the actual shipping charges; but that page and “step” never appeared. So I never had an opportunity to review the order and exercise any option to cancel it, and I was prevented from seeing the FINAL order page AFTER I (foolishly) opted to go ahead and place the order.

Plus: I was never sent an email verifying my order! Had I received an order verification email and seen the outrageous shipping charge of $12.98 for two pair of sunglasses, I would have called and cancelled my order; but I just kept “hoping” I had not been ripped off. The ONLY time I ever saw my order and the shipping charge was when I received the automated shipping notification [protected]).

Yes: I was sucked in and played the “sucker” perfectly. EVEN IF the product (sold via the above website) is shipped from the manufacturer in CHINA
http://lustertv.en.hisupplier.com/product-270031-HD-Vision-Wrap-Arounds.html
and therefore costs $12.98 to ship, the extremely anti-consumer and deceptive practices implemented by this website should not be allowed.
Their tactics worked; but surely there must be some basic standards or codes regulating e-commerce that at least require merchants to:

1) plainly state shipping charges when the customer is selecting their shipping options;
2) allow the customer to preview and verify their order BEFORE placing the order;
3) avoid using any HTML or Java script codes in their website design that override or partially disable
“pop-up” blocker functions
4) allow the customer to “BACK OUT” from investigating any additional “special offers” that appear
during the ordering process so they can return to their order page;
5) verify orders promptly via e-mail and grant a clearly stated timeframe for customers to cancel orders.

This “HD Wraparounds” IdeaVillage Products Corp. website fails on all of these points. The extent of their “Customer Service” via the sales websites includes the following information:

CUSTOMER SERVICE INFORMATION:

To check the status of your order online, please click on the link below.

Order Status: www.HDVisionorderstatus.com

HD Vision WrapArounds is committed to providing the best products and friendliest customer service. If you should have any questions about ordering or a question about any of our great products, please feel free to contact us via the information provided below.

Customer Service:
Phone: [protected]
Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Pacific Time

Needless to say, IdeaVillage Products Corp. customer service representative was not responsive to my complaints about their website sales tactics as outlined in my complaint above. I did not call to cancel the order promptly because I wanted the product, but was extremely dissatisfied with and leery of the merchant’s website sales tactics.

The so-called “Customer Service” email verifying that the order shipped came from:
idvl. [protected]@fulfillment.com
which is an automated notification / no reply email address.

Finally: the link provided in that email to “track” my order shipment does not work (as of this complaint – 03-24-2010):
“Click here to track your order.”

I would appreciate this complaint being registered for reference with the Better Business Bureau and / or Federal Trade Commission (or Federal Communications Commission if applicable). Any contact with the merchant via these agencies would also be appreciated.

All these “HD” products (glasses, visors, etc.) are marketed (if not produced) by IdeaVillage Products Corp.
I’m tempted to say “don’t trust anything that comes from a NEW JERSEY based company”, but that may be an oversimplification.
When I ordered the HD sunglasses in August 2009, they charged me $13.98 for S&H (for a $10 item), which I thought high, but didn’t question. However, I DID file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (which seems never to advocate for the little guys, us consumers) about the FALSE nature of their advertising claim. They ought to be ordered to cease and desist using the phrase, “High Definition” in conjunction with their products, because it is not mere hyperboli: It is SCIENTIFICALLY FALSE that any mere sunglass element can optically increase “definition” or visual acuity. That is a function of EYES or corrective LENSES—which the sunglasses are not. Obviously, they are attempting to cash in on the notion of High Definition Television, which IS optically superior to the older TVs in virtue of increased pixels per inch. But “high definition” IN THAT SENSE does not translate to sunglasses! The HD claim is pure BS.

do not order from this company! Same deal as a lot of the above. No chance to verify shipping charges before they charged my card, can't get a human being to answer most times when i call. If someone does answer they ALL have said - we're just a contractor - we can't cancel orders - then they give you another phonenumber and back on the merry go round you go! I will NEVER EVER EVER order anything from them again!

Mine was the depil stop product. My total should've been $53.97 and I have a pending charge of $81.93! I've tried to contact them and they want you to leave a message and they will get back to you...they don't! I left them a message NOT to bother sending the product as I was having the band REVERSE the charges since they could not even bother returning my phone call to even try and explain the descrepency in the two totals!

I've learned my lesson!

I'll make a complaint to the board tomorrow!

I had a very similar experience to the above stated one from PMac2, from www.gethdwraparounds.com. However, I got fed up with continuing "options" and closed Internet Explorer, expecting the order to be cancelled. This was on 5/28/2010. On 6/2/2010 I received an email from idvl.custsvc@fulfillment.com that my order had been shipped. The envoice showed shipping andhandling charges of $47.91 for three pairs of DLX HD VISION Wraparounds + BONUS NIGHT VISION. The glasses were $19.99 each which I didn't mind. But the $15.97 shipping/handling for EACH was outrageous, considering all were sent in one package. I found out later why, I believe, they do this. After receiving the single package I emailed them asking how I could return it. They replied that if it was unopened I could mark it REFUSED: RETURN TO SENDER. I did this and sent it back by handing it to a USPS delivery person, per their email on 6/16/2010. I received an email dated 7/3/2010 stating they had received and IF YOUR RETURN QUALIFIES FOR A REFUND, YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED SEPARATELY WHEN YOUR REFUND HAS BEEN POSTED. There was a 30-day money back guarantee but the date on this email was more than 30 days after I placed my order. The email also states SHIPPING, PROCESSING, AND HANDLING ARE NOT REFUNDABLE. The total charges for this is $47.91.
When they do this I believe they do this on purpose, because if you return the package they still make a profit just on the shipping and handling.
I have filed a complaint with American Express and will file further complaints with the BBB and the FTC after I wait a few weeks to see if I get ANY refund.
I have a printout of the page where I placed my order and at the bottom it states: Offer Details: HD Vision WrapArounds have anti-glaring technology and they fit right over yoru prescription glasses so you have clear vision every time. You can get HD Vision WrapArounds along with our patented Visor Clip for only $10.00 plus $5.99 shipping and handling. As a bonus, we will also send you our Night Vision WrapArounds, perfect for improving your vision at night, for free, just pay $5.99 for shipping and handling.
Obviously, the Offer Details was not true.

finishing touches does the same thing for the facial razor. $14.95 for the razor and $14.95 for the S&H which they don't let you see. Been six weeks and they still say its on backorder.

I was just billed for some so-called HD wraparound glasses for the tune of $56 and change, but I didn't order any. I have no idea as to how they got my information to bill me, but bill me they did. I received an email early this morning on 05/15/10 stating the charges and the fact that the delivery process has started.

This appears to be a very crooked company designed to process fraudulent orders. I tried to contact their company today, but of course they are closed on Saturdays. I left a detailed message for them, but I doubt they will contact me back.

Has anyone else been sent something by them that they did not order?

I HAVE PURCHASED 4 HANDY SWITCH UNITS FROM CVS IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. THEY WORK GREAT FOR ABOUT 45 DAYS THEN DON'T WORK ANYMORE. THE PRODUCT IS WARRANTIED FOR 60 DAYS BUT IT WON'T LAST THAT LONG. THE PRODUCT IS GREAT WHEN IT WORKS. CAN WE NOT PURCHASE A PRODUCT THAT WILL LAST LONGER AND BE OF BETTER QUALITY? I THINK THEY SHOULD REFUND MY MONIES OR SEND ME ABOUT 6 OF THEM .
