The way this bank treats customers is very bad. I used ICICI to send money to India. Here is my experience.

I initiated transfer of money to India via power transfered method on March12 2007. ICICI Bank account was credited on March 13th 2007. From ICICI it should go to Beneficiary account in HDFC Bank, Hyderabad. Contact ICICI on March 16 and again on March 17. Got the reply that money has been sent to HDFC Electronically. I asked the bank, how is it possible that money sent electronically takes more than 3-4 business days?

got the most disgusting reply blaming RBI. Money sent to HDFC via RBI and RBI takes less than a day for some banks and up to 7 business days for other banks like HDFC.

then i said, give me the tracking number so that i can track money from HDFC side. for which, ICICI said, there is no tracking number. How is it possible that money transferred without any reference number or Tracking Number (UTR)?

Following is from ICICI Bank website FAQ Section:

10. How will I know that the money has been sent to my beneficiary's bank A/c?

Ans: We will send you an email when we send the money to your beneficiary's bank. The credit to your beneficiary's a/c should happen within 1 day of us sending the funds. We will also update the status of the transaction on Money2India.

This also confirms that ICICI did not send money to beneficiary account and lying about it all the time.

Hello Customer Service,

It has been almost 1.5 months and I have still not received my $7500 in my Yes bank account in India. I am a 5 year old customer of money2india and have been using this service quite regularly. Never in the past have I faced an issue of this nature. This is the first time. Unfortunately, the customer service that I need being it the first time is highly unsatisfactory.

It has been over 15 days that I have been back and forth with ICICI customer service and asking for my NEFT receipt and still no action has been taken. When I emailed to check in I was told not to even expect a response before 7 working days, that was Dec 10th. Now it is past that too and still no NEFT RECEIPT. I am unable to understand why it is taking this long for ICICI to provide a NEFT receipt for a transfer that is showing complete from your side for over a month!?

I would like to escalate this matter to a manager level customer service. And urgent response is expected.

Manya

Even im also a victim of the great money2india servcie.

I have been using ICICI money2India for 4/5 years and i trasferred some amount 2 weeks back and the request statsus is still "Request Received".when i wrote a amil to them they asked to send screen-shots and blah blan..i provided all the evidences what they asked and after that there is no mail from them..after sending out many reminder mails they dont even care to drop a single line mail stating what is going on.
Its really frustating..atleast they should care for their long-run exiting customers..if anyone has any info on how to escalate the issue to their higher management please let me know.

Sujata.

I have been using money2india for many years now. I don't know how many people know how money gets really transferred. One approach is a wire-transfer (power transfer) which uses swift codes. This I found was very cumbersome - you had to take a form to your local bank a and execute from there - but still you paid local transfer charges and not international. There is room for clerical error here since people manually enter the swift codes I believe. However, I have had success using this for many years.
What I found more efficient is the e-transfer which does not appear to use swift codes and less likely to have clerical errors. Of these, the expedited works very fast when the receiving account is an ICICI bank account (if the receiving account is my own account for some reason it is very fast) otherwise it takes 3-5 business days. This has worked flawlessly for me.

What I am not concerned or not worried about is the cost of a transaction - every bank makes money out of actual transfer, foreign exchange rate spread, and money transacting through their pipes for a brief period of time. American banks are notorious for making money all sorts of ways - if you ran the bank you would do the exact same thing. So for me that is part of the system- and don't want to complain about it. So ICICI bank's charges are ok for me right now.

However, ICICI has recently changed their online web site user interface and the recurring transfers have many issues which I'll post in a separate note

Hi

I did two transcation with each rs 200000/- on may 21 and 22, till now the money is not credited in my India account. I called up the Icici Bank customer care on June 3 to find about my transcation status, They told me that the transcations are on hold.

They arranged a call back from processing team on june 4 and said once the processing team calls ur transcation will be desposit in ur account. but they never called me. Till now I am just calll them, they are just saying it is under verifcation.
Every day they say sorry sir definitely will get call by tmr.. for them tmr never cums.

Could you please any one suggest me. what have to do to get my money.

Thanks in Advance

ICICI is the crappiest service to send money to india. I tried to send money to India a month ago, and the wire transfer to Canara bank failed saying the account number is wrong!, so i asked them to dispatch a DD to an Address i gave. Not the courier guy call up to my home and asks how to reach the address and he was directed properly. And then i dont know what happened ireceived a mail from ICICI customer care saying because my address was incorrect the DD is returning back to ICICI. What the hell is this, the courier guys must be out of mind inspite of getting proper directions(as if he is delivering the courier to some remote forest location) returned the DD to ICICI. The amout is huge >2.5 lakhs, i would have earned some interest on it. I am planning to file a fraud transaction. Dont go with this service.

ICICI bank is a fraud bank, The exchange rate on there website for $1 is
45.7875 and what they gave me today is 45.37 that is again 2 rupees less than market rate for today. That too they took 10 days for a 3 - 5 day transaction, They will deduct the money same day from your oversees bank and earn profit from transaction delays of 5 - 10 days.

Money2India web site advertise that if we refer a friend both of us will get some free talktime from airtel. I referred a friend (unfortunately) and its going to be nearly 3-4 months that they did not sent any free calling card as they offered in their web site. We continuesly followed up with the customer care personalities (?) and they keep promising that we will be sending in 1 day 2 day 3 days on so onnnnnnn. It is really disgusting that such a big bank in India, that is incapable of recruiting customer friendly people in NRI division. Recently i sent some money to my parents and it is been 15 days that even the money has not reached their account. When i called the NRI customer care services (?), they always give irresponsible or a kind of vague reply. It is highly humilating that with some much hard work, leaving families away, we send money and these kind of people give a vague response to your concern. But during your office hours they call 100 times to request to open a NRI account with them. They do not keep up their words, they do not respond to your concerns.

I sent money to India from Japan. ICICI said its absolutely free from the intermediary bank to ICIC India and that I have to only pay the local charges from my local back to the intermediary bank of ICICI. but in the end I ended up paying the local charges in Japan and the internation remittance charges from intermediary bank in Japan to ICICI India. They deducted this amount from the amount I transferred. When I asked they said ICICI did not deduct, may be the intermediary did. I asked them then why did they promise as its free. They couldn't answer. I had the online chat transcript that I had with ICICI agent and I threatened them that I'll use this as evidence to sue them. Then after 1-2 months of fight finally they refunded the amount deducted.

Such issues do arise with banks like ICICI.I see this issue long b4.

In the future if you hav issues never ignore them.

Get a complaint lodged with RBI and claim for compensation as well...http://www.rbi.org.in/Scripts/bankingombudsman.aspx.

If you face any poor-service by banks ... register a complaint at...
https://reservebank.org.in/compltindex.htm

Thanks,
