Dulux Paints paint emulsion and satinwood

I have had a bedroom decorated in both satinwood and emulsion in the same colour, Copenhagen Blue, the difference between the two paints is very noticeable . I bought the products from SDM Leyland, 9 the Mall, Ealing Broadway W52PJ. A photo is attached.
This is the second time I have submitted a complaint form and have not had a reply to the first.

Dulux Paints dulux matt emulsion

Good afternoon,

I wish to make a complaint regarding one of your products. I purchased 2x 10 litre tubs of your Matt emulsion on Saturday 5/8/17 from Wilkos in Accrington. I opened the tub and the paint was exterrmely watery, I stirred the paint thoroughly and it was still watery, I applied this to the walls and even after 4 coats it still hasn't covered a light cream underneath. I understand this is not one coat but after 4 applications onto normal walls I really didn't think I would have to apply a further coat! Please can you advise?

Dulux Paints dulux 10l pure brilliant white matt paint

Hi,

Two days ago I used your pure brilliant white paint to paint both my dining room and kitchen which was originally a light cream colour. I thought after one coat that the rooms still had a yellow tinge so I added another coat of your paint to both rooms assuming that the yellow tinge was from the cream paint below it. It was only after the second coat had dried did I realise that it was actually the Dulux paint which was off yellow. This took myself and my partner over two hours a room to paint a coat so has now cost us 8 hours of our time which is very valuable as we both work full time. I can't understand how you can call it pure brilliant white when it is clearly off yellow and has caused us even more stress on top of trying to arrange time to paint it in the first place. This is now going to take at least two coats of actual white matt paint to get the rooms to even just a normal white, let alone pure brilliant white. Please get back to at [protected]@hotmail.co.uk

Dulux Paints colour not like the sample

Hi,

I have recently had my bedroom painted by a professional using Matt, Dulux polished pebble.

I brought a few sample pots and polished pebble was the winner as we loved it subtle gray colour.

The room has now been painted and the grey is not gray at all but a very pale blue. Please see photos attached. I have even applied 3 coats to hope that colour would come through.

Please can you advise what my next steps are, I have paid £14 x 3 for the 2.5l paint pots and £600 for the room to be painted. I have other photos if required along with the batch numbers of the paint.

Many thanks,

Louise

Dulux Paints primer and undercoat

Andy Heaver

E-Mail Andy.[protected]@gmail.com

27th June 2017
Dear Sir,
I am writing to you with regards to a tin of Dulux Primer and Undercoat that totally failed to do what it said on the packaging.
I am in the process of decorating my Hall, Stairs and Landing. To give a representation of detail I have gone to, walls and celing have been stripped and plasterboarded, wood stripped bare and on finishing, new sockets and switches fitted.
Apart from skimming the walls and ceiling I have done everything myself. This has taken the better part of a year to accomplish as I am disabled. I have a crushed vertebrae, resulting in three vertebrae being fused together. I also have an amputated right leg and a knee resticted to 45 degrees movement. All this means I can only be active for about an hour a day.
Imagine my disappointment when I finished painting the walls and ceiling and peeled back the low tack yellow “Frog” tape, only to lift patches of paint from just about every piece of wood involved, from loft hatch to picture rails, skirting and door frames.
The cause was that the combined Dulux Primer and Undercoat had not adhered to the wood. I can assure you that I followed the instructions diligently and that as an engineer of 35 years experience, I know what I am doing.
Hence, I am writing to you to vent my anger whilst I try to figure out what to do next. Probably strip everything back and start again using Crown paint I guess.

Yours faithfully,

Andy Heaver

Dulux Paints satinwood gloss - quick dry

I have recently purchased 4 tins of satin wood (quick dry) gloss paint.
1-black
1-white
1-barley white
1-urban obsession

The black and the grey will not fully dry. After 1 week the area is still tacky and not fully dry.
The black paint is the worst out of all the paints, it will not dry. I purchased the paint because I wanted a good quality paint that didn't take days to fully dry.
I really don't know what to do now as I'm not sure what I can do going forward, the paint is collecting dust and the area has taken weeks of preparation to now have it all ruined.

The white paints dryed fine.

Please could you investigate these products.

Dulux Paints dulux once emulsion

We purchased 5ltr of dulux once nutmeg white emulsion from our local b&q store to decorate our hallway & stairway. The rusult is terrible ie. patchty & uneven finish. I gave the walls one coat (expecting a decent finish, terrible result ) so purchased a 2.5ltr tin to try a second coat in hallway hoping for a better finish. rusult was rubbish ie. still patchy etc. tried both roller&brush no difference.having used dulux in the past rather than cheaper options we expected a better finsh than this. this emululsion is terrible to apply ( seems very thick, like spreading treacle ) we are now left with addtional expence & time of papering over these walls to achieve a decent apperance. we strongly feel that a refund on the cost of this product would be fair, after all the time and effort spent.

Oh my goodness I wish I'd seen these before painting my hall, stairs and landing with Dulux Once Chic Shadow. We've moved into a house where everywhere needs decorating. I painted hall, stairs and landing with 2 coats Matt white to ger rid of bad cutting in and a week later applied Once. It dried very patchy and you can see where I've used a brush for cutting in and a roller for the rest. I tried to patch but have made it worse. I can't live with it but also really can't face painting, what will be twice, more! Our carpets are coming soon so I'm hoping Dulux will be helpful!

I have had the same with Dulux Once Chic Shadow. I also have applied 2 coats of ONCE to get a very patchy, poor finish. I am so pleased I have found these other complaints as the Dulux complaints team have tried to blame the condition of the walls and my painting skills for the problem. The advice from the complaints team representative is to sand the wall down, apply a base coat watered down with 10% water, then 2 further coats. Not the workload I was expecting when applying ONCE and certainly does not comply with the 'One coat guaranteed' statement on the tin. When I asked for a decorator to come round and carry out all this work required, I was told that I have to accept these things do happen and to compare it to the worst thing that could happen in life ! Highly inappropriate and very unprofessional, especially in the current climate. I do hope the conversation was recorded as this would be an excellent example for your training department of how not to communicate with a customer. These comments refer to complaint no. Dulux Paints dulux once

I purchased your 5l dulux matt white for my hall and living room ceiling which both fell more than easily within the estimated coverage area. I have spent all day applying this paint to my hall. This is clearly not a once paint and has noticable patchiness areas on the majority of walls now needing a second coat. Since i used the while tub to cover less than 25m2 and didnt even finish my hall I clearly wasnt tight with the paint. Not only will I now have to repaint it all again with another coat I now need to buy more paint as your estimated 50m2 covered less than 25m2. I was covering a very neutral colour so wasnt even as though I had to cover a bold colour. I have also purchased your easycare paint for the room and your bathroom paint and am now more than concerned that these paints are going to be as poor as this one. An extremely un satisfied customer. Debby Sian

Dulux Paints ivory paint

Hi yesterday I bought two tins of ivory paint, the colour looked lovely on the tin, while I was at work my husband painted the walls, I was very disappointed in the colour it was very dark cream, nothing like the colour on the tin, I wanted ivory to match the wall paper I bought, I'm not happy as now I'm going to have to go and buy more, it's already cost me £32.00 for two tins. I know it dries darker than the pic but I wasn't expecting it to be so dark there's no way it will go with the wallpaper.

Dulux Paints easy clean

I bought a tin of ICI Dulux Easy Clean a year ago and find it easy apply the paint job. About a month later the paint started to have white powder forming on top o the paint job (please note that i have painted the wall with ICI Dulux base coat). It looks horrible and cheap, I once believed that ICI Dulux is the expert for paint in Malaysia but sadly i was disappointed with the quality of your product . Please improve your quality control!

I have used dulux paint for many years and didn't mind the expense because it did the job. Not any more it doesn't. Their products are inferior, 'Once' paint isn't. The paint is sticky and runny like cheap paint that offers inferior coverage and application. I will NOT buy dulux again.

Dulux Paints cheating by supplying three year old paint

AkzoNobel India Limited, Bangalore, was awarded a painting contract of our residential apartment complex in March 2010. costing approx: US$55, 000.00. The first load of 27 barrels (20 lit) capacity each arrived and I found it was manufactured in 2007 June. I reported it to the Management of the Apartment Owner's Welfare Association but was ignored. The price difference between 2007 and 2010 was US$ 46.12. AkzoNobel billed us at the 2010 retail price. Subsequently I was barred from inspecting the supplies.
The attached photographs show the result after one monsoon. But neither the Association nor any member complained about it, the reason being most of them were tenants. I have contacted almost 17 different officers/managers/technicians of AkzoNobel and two of their experts visited our complex two times and took photographs, moisture measurement, saw the cracks on the base and went back. It is almost for months now. My last email to the Managing Director was possibly handed over to their Senior legal counselor who issued me a threat ( YOU SHALL BE DEALT WITH FIRMLY) . The officials of Apartment Owner's Welfare Association have not made any complaint so far. The President went on a foreign holiday and the Managing Committee member who was entrusted with the responsibility of supervising the work got his the interior of his apartment painted by ICI Dulux and left for USA and came back after 10 months. The Zonal Manager who took this contract is absconding. This is to warn all the customers of AkzoNobel and ICI Dulux to be careful. I have not claimed any monetary compensation or rework. All I wanted was a qualified technical report by their own "experts".

Dulux Paints poor paint, poor customer service

I am attempting to re-decorate my front door and its surround (Edwardian pitch-pine, leaded lights etc). As live near the sea, need paint that will last, so paid the extra to buy supposedly good quality paint. As the existing paint was deteriorated, I had to prepare that back to the bare wood. Elsewhere, I sanded it down to a sound, smooth finish. I contacted the advice centre because I wanted to know whether I needed to use knotting over old knots still oozing resin. Instead they didn't answer this question and re-directed me to British Coatings for a lecture on dealing with pre-1960s paint (that may contain lead. I read this and told them that I had taken all reasonable precautions, but still needed an answer to my question. I also wanted to know whether their primer was suitable for priming resinous old pine or whether I should use aluminium primer. (No answer). Gave up waiting for answer and applied their blue primer which formed globules on the brush and left little lumps all over the finely sanded surface. (Also ruined a new brush). Complained. No reply.

Dulux Paints shad of paint not match in two tins

Dear Dulex Team,

This is a request mail from a customer of yours
I purchased Nastalgic Tale 90YR 68/100 Paint for my small house in Pataudi Road Ggn. from M/s Sumit Trading Company Ggn.

At the time of starting the paint I found that the shade of paint is not matching with the shade shown in catalogue.
I registered this issue with dealer but he told that theres always a little difference.

But upon opening the second bucket of same shade I found that even this shade is much more different than other.
I got totally upset & again called dealer & he called Mr. Shishir Gupta who after two days after regular follow ups visited the site & concluded that this is company’s fault but offered no resolution.

Now it’s a matter of harassment for me as work has got held up but unable to proceed so giving this mail directly to you.
Hope I will get a solution from your side soon or I will have to take some harsh action.

Dissatisfied customer of yours

Dulux Paints brilliant white gloss

Terrible paint, i have used dulux paints both emulsion and always brilliant white gloss for 30years and never had a complaint untill now, i brought brilliant white gloss in october 2010 for our hall and staircase to be redecorated. There are 11doors plus 14stairs a banister a handrail and all the skirting boards, because my husband and i are both pensioners we had to get someone in to decorate it for us and to our horror within a short period of time it had started to discolour it had gone yellowy. I would like to know the address where i can write to lodge my complaint.

Dulux Paints not fit for purpose

I bought Dulux Timeless Matt Emulsion at homebase in Glenrothes on 18/10/11. I am so disappointed in this product as it is very thin and has taken me three coats (and possibly a forth) to cover a bedroom wall. I have always bought Dulux products and the consistency and quality has definately changed. Emulsion used to be nice and thick and did not require stirring. This is comparible to the less expensive homebase paints and I would even go as far to say that these are supperior. I have wasted time and money on this inferior product.

Thankyou Adrian for your comments.

You are correct in that Dulux Trade products must stay within strict legal guidelines for VOC content, for which all our formulations are compliant. We have a number of Eggshell finish products with varying levels of VOC content for example a Water Based, Low VOC Dulux Trade Diamond Eggshell, and a solvent based High VOC Dulux Trade Eggshell suitable for use on trim only. We do recommend only to use our solvent based Dulux Trade Eggshell in well ventilated areas, however we are very concerned about your experience of high odors, especially as you have taken ventilation into consideration on the job. Please could you contact our customer advice centre at your earliest convenience either by calling [protected] or by email at duluxtrade_advice@ici.com, if possible please quote the batch number (which should be found on the lid) so we can confirm the details of the product and batch and are better able to follow up your concerns and take action if necessary.

Further information on VOC legistation can be found at http://dulux.trade-decorating.co.uk/sustainability/voc/legislation.jsp

Many Thanks

Dulux Paints yellowing

bought tin of dulux one coat, brilliant white.Within two months the paint was as yellow as a persons teeth who smoked forty a day.I couldn't believe how bad it has gone in such a short time, (and this was with an undercoat as well).Plus it was tacky for ages after, (two or more weeks).Still can't believe how bad this paint was.
