Iboga house testimonials only show one side of an initial high some people get. I went there for healing and was given a pill in a garage "the temple" while mougenda the shaman watched movies on his laptop and talked and laughed with his antisocial apprentices, recent ex-opiate addicts and had to pay over 7 grand for this? Had a weird vibe as soon as I got there, house is in bad shape for what the cost is, and it seems like nobody cared. The shaman barely even talked to us and we were all left alone most of the time eating the same food each day pretty much. When I asked to talk to the shaman back home they wanted to charge exhorbitant amount, and did not care I received no healing. What a waste of money and also felt so taken advantage of... Unfortunate. Find a center that actually cares... Why pay extra for "shamanic" center when you do it in a carport with barely any ceremony except a talk where the moughenda rails against any other beliefs and doesn't let anyone talk and think he's better than everyone around him...

Update by angrypatient9

He did not leave us alone to watch movies, he watched movies on his laptop in the garage with us, but that doesn't seem like much of a traditional ceremony that I paid so much for, and he was also quite rude. I don't know about the sex scandals but it seems many people are talking about it online and strange they are all 100% made up from all these different sources. Moughenda Mikala definitely has a lack of morals and seems to lack compassion most of the time. His apprentices did most of the work and he more or less came to check on us. Reminded me of some African dictator that just wanted his money. Very sad. As soon as I got to the house it seemed very sketchy and had a bad vibe and a lot of the others felt the same way. Over the next few days we all realized what a scam it was and only one of the people in the group really "journeyed". I think if we were in a place we actually felt SAFE in more people would have healed.

I have spent the past 3 months with Moughenda. None of these negative comments add up the character I have come to know. He is a true Shaman who thoroughly teaches the Missoko Bwiti tradition. Maybe you weren’t happy with your experiences, but what a terribly inaccurate board this is

I've been to Iboga House in Costa Rica and honestly those 7-8 days were the worst days of my life .
First of all Moughenda was not there. He was in Canada with his wife The first time I was given Iboga was when I was in my room by Moughenda's staff was in my room and after about 30 mins I started having the worst visions in my life . I was throwing up. my stomach was hurting really bad and I was basically left by myself in my room until several hours later when they took me to the garage with other "guests". Moughenda's helper was watching a movie on his laptop while they have everyone their Iboga after talking near the fire. I just remember I was feeling so bad that I couldn't even sit near the fire with everyone else. so I was left alone. I remember that time wouldn't go by. It felt like few hours had gone by but when you looked at the time not even a minute passed. The house for guests had a weird vibe. I don't even want to continue as I write. All I have to say I'm really disappointed with the whole experience and with Moughenda also. I talked to him twice after I came back to US and all he offered me was to go to Africa. Really? If I had such a horrible experience in Costa Rica in your "villa" what would made me think that Africa will be better. I guess it's a business for him get the $5000 from the sucker and my "helpers" will do the job while I'm in Canada. I have so much more to say but those of you who are thinking of going there think twice.

They are using subliminal brainwashing techniques with the drum sounds they pound in your head. CD 1 is fine but then they switch to CD 2 and good luck. They give you Iboga -along with what they call a "root bark" - the root bark is some sort of truth serum . I believe once they start the 1st ceremony all your food and drinks are drugged. They basically cause you brain trauma by keeping you awake for days while subliminally brainwashing you. I found speakers on the outside of all the bedrooms and in the garden. This is a criminal organization with the goal of the long bleed. They wont take any of your cash or cards because they know once your brainwashed, they can control you afterwards. Once you get home you can expect constant emails to get you to read "special healing text" - that actually triggers your brainwashing. The goal is for you to hate everything and everyone in your life except for iboga wellness center

I also have been to Iboga House and had the worst experience of my life. Most of the time I was by myself. I remember standing on the second floor balcony trying to commit suicide believe it or not some other Shaman back in LA felt what I was going through and he told my parents to immediately call the staff at Iboga House and stop me before I committed suicide. I contacted Moughanda few times but it seemed like nobody cared after they got their $5000 or more My parents helped me pay for it so I’m not exactly sure about the exact amount but I know it was at least $5000.

I have lived in Libreville, Gabon for two years. It is where Bwiti is "practiced". Gabon is where Bwiti originated. I walked in the rain forest north of the city and there was Iboga growing like anything else. So, I made an effort to come here and learn as much as I can about the religion and the effects of Iboga. Everything that I have learned so far, has disappointed me. I am sorry to say this because I had very high hopes and I was hoping to learn a lot.

I'll tell you a story: I was at a restaurant here in Libreville. I met this cracked out looking Gabonese guy with a beer belly and a soccer jersey that was too tight for his body. He was hanging out with two drugged out hookers and two more emaciated Gabonese locals. He drove to the restaurant in an Infinity, so I figured they're hanging out with him for the money. It turns out they came to the restaurant to meet my friend who I was eating with. My friend didn't want to meet them alone, so I walked over to their table. I learned the guy was claiming to be a Bwiti priest and he had a 'temple" here in Libreville. Immediately, I could tell he was a scam artist, so I made an excuse to leave. I thought they were going to ask my friend to contribute to their "temple" and that was that. The following day, I learned that the "priest" invited my friend to go up to their temple to check out a service. I wanted to tell him not to go, but I figured the worst thing they could do is get him to make a contribution. I found out that the "priest" has a scam where he gets Europeans who come to Gabon to pay him 2000 euros for the month. So I thought that is what they were going to try and get my friend to do. Little did I know that their plan was different. They set him up to get robbed outside of the temple after a service that went into the wee hours of the morning. Then, the priest's assistant came to meet us at the restaurant three days later with a guy pretending to be a police officer. The priest said that he did a ritual and the spirits helped him to find the person who stole my friend's bag. All my friend had to do was pay 500, 000 francs (about 1000 dollars) to get it back because the cops need money to find the guy. It was a total scam, but my friend is rich so he thought it was hilarious and he paid. Of course, the Bwiti priest and the fake cop took his money. But idiots that they are, they called him a couple of days after he had already left the country to say that they found his bag. They made him pay another 200, 000 francs to get his bag. I was the one who went down to give them the payoff. To prove how ignorant these guys are, I actually got them to sign a receipt for the payoff. The idiots actually argued over who should sign it. In the end, the "priest" signed. Now imagine if you got your stuff stolen at a Christian church. I can't think of one priest who would set you up to get robbed and then make you pay over 1000 dollars to retrieve your goods.

That's only one story. I could tell you another story about another Bwiti "priest" here in Gabon. Another scam artist. But I am getting too lazy to keep typing.

But these guys are well-respected here in Gabon. If it weren't for the fact that they found a unique business model, these guys would not even qualify to wash cars for a living. The Bwiti scam is their only way to make a buck. But based on my personal experience after researching these guys for the past two years and living here in Libreville, I am not impressed by them whatsoever. I am disappointed. I call [censored]. I'm 90 percent certain that Bwiti is a scam. I could be wrong. I'm still doing my research.

If you could get your hands on some Iboga and you ate the right dose, you could get some benefits. The Bwiti priests saw that Iboga helps people, so they were smart enough to invent a business model that would allow them to earn a recurring income. They took something real and beneficial and turned it into something fake and exploitative.

I've been to MindsAlive in South Africa Durban. I have seen the wonderful results of Abogaine treatement and the enormous background work that is carried out by in house doctors, nurses, psychologist, Christal healer, yoga teacher, Raiki Master, pharmacy and laboratório tests and of course driver, cleaners, cook, gardener, transcendental Meditation and people I don't even know their role in MindsAlive. I was also surprised that while all of this preparation was going on in the background the patients were left to themselves UNDER THE WATCHFUL EYES of nurses and doctors who followed their every move from CCTV CÂMARAS. I also witness that on the nights of the treatment the six patients were observed by the nurses every 15 to 20 minutes assisting patients to go to the badroom wherever needed as patients require assistance to walk during the first night. As for food there was toast and something very light for the day before and day during treatment after that the patients were served delicious meals and outside the meditation, massage, yoga, Chrystal Healing, and seeing the doctor they were left to their own devises.

Patients been left alone is not neglect it's part of the self healing process. Not been able to walk it's not negative side effect it's part of the ealing process. I know nothing about this Costa Rica iboga house I only know of MindsAlive Durban South Africa where to took my son for treatment. This is where I had my insight view of how it's done in a clinically controlled environment.

As for abogaine it's a healing plant that requires proper protocols IT KILLS if misused and if not administered properly. For addicts blood tests are required, for everyone medical fitness report is required. Be aware, be wise, be careful. Namaste

Ps prices at MindsAlive was in 2017 between [protected] rands for 6-7 days treatment with medical tests airport pickup dropoff food accommodation included.

I am disgusted only in that anyone could think at all that it is ok to slander a person's name and business in order to be vindictive. There is plenty about moughenda and his wife on their website so anyone claiming they had no idea about his wife is clearly misleadingmisleading and distorting information for some reason..
This is not Days of Our Lives and I'm sure you must be older than six? Personal issues are dealt with on a personal level. Not the internet. But I have not seen anything, anywhere that suggests Moughenda claims to be God, be perfect, infallable or never has a bad day.
I have never met or spoken to moughenda but I would certainly not allow this display of nasty vindictive, spiteful, itchy, childish behaviour and outrageous lack of empathy or common sense affect any decision I made. Thousands of positive experiences undone by a couple of small minded, jealous people who thrive on drama, have a massive attachment to your own ego, are deficient in the usual supply of logic and intellect and have clearly never experienced a bad day, stress, insecurity, vulnerability or made a mistake? Really? I would love to know exactly what it is you are doing to make the world a better place. Sounds to me like Moughenda is going through a rough patch (possibly caused by whatever actions you are trying to deflect attention from) and may need some support.
To the people who made negative comments here... grow up. And stop projecting your deficiencies, lack of integrity and need to play such horrible games onto those who are trying and doing the best they can. It makes you look petty and unworthy anyway. Causing other people pain, never eases your own.
Moughenda, these challenges are only ever sent to us to help us get even better. You know this.

Greetings, I just finished a week at IWC and am quite satisfied with my total experience. I would say that about 3 hours after digesting the Iboga I was pretty sure I had been scammed... At about 4.5 hours I was experiencing a journey unlike anything I've ever dreamed of. Just took me longer I guess but they told me you never know. By the time we had the 2nd ceremony I was prepared to see how deep I could go to get the absolute most out the inner resolving properties of the medicine. The trick is to use the staff providers and to be honest... They are awesome, totally non judge mental, and love it when you take advantage of their experience. I would be happy to answer any questions you have.BTW, Gary and the staff all went to Iboga House and decided to start their own. They have a tremendous facility, have made Iboga wellness their life, and are 100% committed. Oh, and the anti addictive claims (opiates and alcohol for me)? What can I say... I simply haven't even had any thoughts about my addictions since the ceremonies. I think that says it all. Good luck to you iin unravelling the layers and finding your answers, I'm very glad I chose Iboga Wellness center.

I've researched this a lot and talked to many people. One patient overheard Moughenda talk about having sex with hookers in Costa Rica. How can this guy be for real? He treats women like garbage. Period. Dozens of reviews attest to that. He used to charge a thousand dollars for a gram of iboga TA, also attested to, now he charges close to 10, 000 for taking a few pills of iboga in a garage. They just updated their FAQ on their website to say there is a reason they do everything and all these negative reviews are out of jealousy or vengeance. Is there a reason he yelled at me and made me feel like horrible while journeying, when in the most vulnerable position. Is there a reason he sleeps with patients after giving them Iboga? Is there a reason he conducts ceremonies in a garage, still after making millions off of vulnerable people who need to be healed and are desperate in this difficult time on our planet? Is there a reason he calls Ayahuasca "baby stuff" and says it's nothing, is there a reason for all of that? I would love to hear that in their FAQ. How can people work there when this is going on? There will be consequences for every action. This is the time to help people not take advantage of them. The universe will not allow this to continue. Moughenda you think you are the man, but you are not a man. You are a caveman.

@angrypatient9 the treatment you got at Iboga House, being left alone in a garage on a highly potent psychoactive plant whilst this 'healer' just goes and plays movies on his laptop and chills out with his buddies - this is like so shocking. And like he charged you $7k for the privilege. Really shocked by what I'm reading about Moughenda and Iboga House. Factor in the comment I found on eboka.info - this was only one such comment amongst a number of them I found...! I really sympathise with you guys who have experienced this healer. I was going to see him but now I'm really thinking 'noooo!'

Hi there, I'm wondering about visiting Iboga House for treatment of CFS amongst other things. The website and testimonials are impressive. I phoned up but was put out by how much they're charging - like to the tune of $7k + wihich is exhorbitant, but hey, good healing is priceless, so I thought okay I can save for it. But then I googled Moughenda and found a really disturbing comment on the website eboka.info - check this out:

Hello,
I have some questions re your clinic and a warning regarding an African Biwiti Shaman by the name of Patrick Moughenda Mickala who is a con artist who will want to sell you Ibogaine and Alkaloid in the future or he may have already contacted you.
He currently has a clinic in Costa Rica that is not doing that well due to all his debt and unhappy clients. His web site is www.Ibogahouse.com.
The roomers are that he will be moving to Vancouver, Canada to start over again.
Please be very cautious and warn others who are using Iboga/Ibogaine with the right intentions. He has taken many people for money and left many women pregnant and vulnerable. He just had a new child who he abandoned along with his fiance and is now dating the old friend of the x fiance.
He recently slept with my best friend, borrowed money, made false promises to her and she never heard from him again, she did not know about his fiance or her pregnancy at the time. Than I found out about the things I mentioned above. I must warn others, this is unacceptable behavior that has consequences.
I have done much research and have proof and many people to back up this email that covers a small percentage about his actions.
Please contact me with any questions and know that this email was sent with serious concern and good intent. Iboga is a great medicinal plant and it should not be judged due to people who utilize it the wrong way.
Thank you
Liz
lovesoldier1@gmail.com

Has any one else heard about this? Is this true or just groundless gossip? If it's true and this healer is preying on vulnerable women, getting them pregnant, then also conning people out of huge amounts of money, abusing them, mistreating them, then I am definitely going to re-consider my plan and not go to the Iboga House. Any comments/advice will be useful. The two people on here who say they've been to Iboga House - please share your stories on the web so that other people are warned about this Moughenda's wrongdoings - word really needs to get out there if all this is true!

Her email is 100% true! He is a con artist. He is a womanizer- he drugs women, has sex with them, and tries to trap them by getting pregnant. He is NOT A SHAMAN! He is a WITCH- this has been verified by very highly esteemed spiritual workers and REAL medicine men. He is just trying to get rich quick. He is money obsessed, sex crazed, and EVIL. STAY FAR AWAY. MANY people have died. People have left Gabon with tumors, mysterious illnesses, and DIED. I can not warn you all enough. This is serious serious [censored]. Stay far away. He is pure evil I 100% promise you. He tried to scam me too. SOME PEOPLE DONT COME BACK- some people "disappear" into the jungle forever. Extremely dangerous and evil man.

I agree. The Iboga House is a rip off. 10th generation shaman is all marketing ... The guy used to drive a truck and this was his way to get rich quickly

Yes this is 100% true. Over many years I have had the same experience. He is NOT a shaman. He is a witch, doing black magic- tricking people to give him money. He just buys the iboga from someone else (from a real medicine man).

I will be writing my story soon. This is all completely believable, when I think about my own experience. So sad to see such powerful healing medicine misused. Blessings on finding the true healing power you need.
