H&R Block / HRB Digital errors

Professional Tax Service? I don't think so!

Upon our first initial visit with our local H&R Block office, the atmosphere seemed to be professional.

We met with someone who started to prepare our tax return. Once finished my wife and I signed everything and then went home.

The next day we received a phone call from the lady who prepared our taxes for us and she stated that the IRS had rejected our return. Further into the conversation I found out that they had placed the wrong last name down for my wife.

I gave the correct information to the lady as requested and even spelled it out for her, and then the call ended.

A day later we received yet another call, this time from a different tax lady who claimed that our return had yet again been rejected. She stated that the name this time had been misspelled. I corrected the spelling yet again and the call ended.

The day that we were supposed to receive our refund my wife and I contacted the bank to check on the deposit, and guess what, NO MONEY WAS DEPOSITIED.

With concern, my wife and I contacted the IRS to find out what was going on. Upon speaking with the IRS we found out that due to the tax people at H&R Block making all these errors that our refund had been sent to the error department for verification and would take an additional one to two weeks for processing.

At this time my wife and I were very upset so we contacted the Amelia office to inform them of the situation.

They had stated that since they had already given us a discount the day that we had filed our return, that they would not be able to discount any other fees. When we asked about the Guarantee that H&R Block has, the lady changed the topic and stated that they would not be able to help us. I then demanded to be contacted by the Manger or Franchise Owner, the lady then told me that she was just a Tax Associate (Teddy) and that she would have the franchise owner Karen contact us later that evening.

The lady that contacted us was very rude and was only trying to protect H&R Block and had no interest in us, the consumer. She not once admitted the blame that the IRS had confirmed to be the fault of H&R Block!

My suggestion would be to not use H&R Block. You can google their name and find countless complaints about them. It is best to use TaxACT or some other at home filing program so that this does not happen to you!

Your wife probably failed to change her Social Security Card after getting married. Was this your first joint return? I don't see how H&R Block could have put the 'wrong' name down for your wife unless they put down her married name, when in fact her SS card contained her maiden name. Wasn't the screen facing you? Wasn't it printed on almost EVERY PAGE? Then, when giving the H&R Block preparer the name that is actually on the SS card, it was misspelled? I could see this happening, but really, you did this over the phone. Now, I've seen returns be rejected multiple times by the IRS and I have NEVER heard of any going to the IRS 'error department for verification' due to the rejects. More than likely, it went for verification because your accepted return had your wife's maiden name on it, whereas her W-2's and other documents were probably in her married name. NOT H&R BLOCK'S FAULT!

You said: "Further into the conversation I found out that they had placed the wrong last name down for my wife."

Your wife should know her own name. Hint: It is on her Social Security card. It never ceases to amaze me how people will sign documents without paying any attention whatsoever to what they are signing.

Should the preparer have demanded to see both of your Social Security cards to verify your names and ensure correct spelling, well yes that would have certainly helped, but a lot of people do not carry
their SS cards. The Social Security Administration even tells people
they should not carry their cards because of the risk of identity
theft. Regardless, it is the duty of every taxpayer to ensure they are submitting a correct return. That means YOU need to check it.

After the 1st rejection, you attempted to correct the error over the
phone. Personally, I would have stopped by the office to make the correction. Cell phones are great and all, but sometimes they
are garbled and can lead to misspellings and misunderstandings.
A lot of people take a rather cavalier attitude when it comes to filing their taxes. When something bad happens they usually learn that filing a tax return can have severe consequences especially if something on the return is incorrect. Good Luck next year.

My state check come first H&R block took out there fees which was 273.50 and today H&R block took out more money from my federal check, the rep told me that H&R block ready took out all the fees from my state check, so why did H&R block take more money from my federal and why did.I have to pay 20.00 on top of that just for a check?.And I also brouht in a customer for H&R block, I should have recived some type of discount like jackson hewitt do!.H&R block charge me way to much money just to do my taxs, I must say that H&R block can and will lose customers next year if this overcharge behavior don't stop. And I would like a refund of the check fees.Thank You

Where to start? "...of when is the lastest I would receive the federal return no latler than today"

First of all, they do to not provide a range of dates when your refund will be available. They give you a single date. You should have received a small card with a phone number at the bottom of the card.
That number which starts out 1-866 is for Versicom and if you call it on your disbursement date, they can tell you if the funds have been
released.

If you did not receive that card, look for the RAC paperwork and see what date your tax preparer wrote down for the disbursement date.

If you did not get either of these, then I would immediately contact
the District Manager overseeing the office you visited.

It is true that some banks will hold the payment for 3 business days.
The amount your brother and aunt received is irrelevant and has no
bearing whatsoever on your case. Is it possible that you owed back
taxes, State or Federal, or perhaps you defaulted on a student loan, or
owe H&R Block or an affiliate for something from a prior year? Any of
these could prevent your refund from showing up when expected.

You signed up for the State RAC and the Federal RAC. When the State RAC funds first, H&R Block takes their fees from it. If the amount of the
refund is not enough to cover your tax prep fee, then they take the
rest from your Federal RAC when it funds. The $20 charge is for the
Federal RAC check, you are paying that fee because you do not have
a checking/savings account at a bank. You could have avoided the $20
charge if you had directed your Federal refund to the Emerald Debit MasterCard that H&R Block offers. The Emerald Card is free and is
a good alternative for people who do not have or are unable to get a
checking/savings account at a bank.

I filed my taxess on jan 27th. I signed the RAC. So according to their mouths and their worksheet of when is the lastest I would receive the federal return no latler than today. My husband and I did itemize quite a few things. I go to school, the costs and what not we have a child and what not. Its a large tax return. Well needless to say... I've been filing with them for gosh the past7 maybe 8 years. Never had a problem with them til recently. They promised me with dd with the RAC it would be there. By day 15. Well I spoke to the irs and they released my funds. The current issue is, I have yet to see it hit my bank account. Don't get me wrong they have an * to say your bank may withhold the refund for 1-4 business days. I'm fine with that. My bank would a. Let me know its there. I have phone call text and e-mail alerts set with my bank to let me know of every and any transaction including pending. Now I've spoken with my bank several times in the past week. Too many times today. My husband went as far as calling another center to find out what's going on. 9k is a lot of money. All year round we pay an additional 15% towards our taxes from our weeekly pay checks. This way we're garuneteed a refund. I don't wrk all year round, only when I'm out of school. I'm a nursing student. I'm currently not working, my husband is sole worker in the house hold. We normally don't count on money we don't see. But concidering their promise of my refund to be in the bank and with certain family issue, we fell behind on bills and thabkfully we have an awesome landlord, or'd we be screwed. We finally got intouch with someone around4-4:30p. They informed us that the IRS did release our funds. Ok so why is it not in my account? Well it. Was released to our bank and it can hold the funds for 1-4 business days. What? That's not in your current pamphlet you provided, it states OUR bank can hold the funds, if issues should arise contact ourl bank. It says nothing about your bank. Well you should see it in our account by Wednesday. This was upsetting. So I question them and your also going to tell me my bank can hold it for another 1-4 businessdays? This is beyond the promised time. I've never had an issue til now, family has warned me of their issue and why they changed tax preps. But I stayed when more than half my family left. But I think I'm going somewhere else next tax season. Other companies offer same audit proection and promises. I would understand if this was a new company I'm trying but this is sad! They said their was a slim chance that my funds would be relased to my bank. My tax prep is the same as evry year. She is awesome. Her supervisor is who told us of when we would get our money. I don't understand the run around. More is to my disbelif, my brother and aunt filed the very same day and about the same amount as I and thy gt their returns on the 4th. What is the issue. I paid close to/ around 350-400 for their services. I'm requestings my fee's be reembursed. They screwed up. I wentthrough all the paper work an it says nothing about them or their bank holding my funds for extended peroid of time. I told them I definately reporting them to BBB. And I will be doing that in the morning. I would make sure your careful and you get a clear black and white copy of when is the latest you will receive your refund. No wonder hsbc pulled away from them.

H&R Block / HRB Digital fraud alert

I applied for and was approved for an emerald advance based on my estimated refund, the loan was for 900 and the refund was to be 4700. Wrong. Way wrong. The funny thing is... None of my income verification changed from the day of the estimate/loan to the day I had the taxes actually filed. I am not complaining about the outrageous interest, fees, ect. Just the fact that they lied about my refund so that I would borrow money I wasnt actually due to get back. I think it is fraud to mislead people in that way. I plan to do more than just complain.

H&R Block / HRB Digital refund

My wife took her taxes to h&r block on 1/29/11. She used itemized deductions. (This is the key) she was told her refund of almost $3000 would be available between feb 8th and 11th. Today being the 9th she called the block office here to get the number to check the status. She was given the irs's number. She called a second time and was give the block #. It said that her return had not been accepted by the irs.
Later in the day she called the local block office and was told that the irs was not accepting itemized filings until feb 15th, and it would probably be another two weeks after that when they would put the money of her h&r block emerald card.
This all wouldn't be a real big deal except for when you expect to get your money by a certian date, you make plans for that money. Unfortunately the plans we made were keeping our electric, water, cable, internet, telephones, rent payment and a few other frivolous things like buying food and maybe some gas for the car.
I tried to call block about it, but since it is my wife's return they wouldn't even let me start a complaint.

So if you plan on itemizing deductions you need to wait until after the 15th. All tax preparers should be aware of this, since it came out in the december tax laws. I guess our preparer was absent the day they went over the new laws.

It was just a STOP GAP measure. To buy just a little more time before total financial ruin.

I knew someone would point that out. Congratulations - you are the first.

The money is the second point - the MAIN point is the fact that a COMPENSATED TAX PREPARER misled a customer and the "corporate" stance is "Too Bad, So Sad". Which is what else I'm sure you would have put into your message.

Let's just agree to disagree on this one, your point is made and it is true. The only difference is you aren't going to be in the dark and without water at the end of this week.

Never judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes.

It has been 24 days now since I filed my taxes. H & R Block told me I would have a check if filed with the RAC program. I first filed on 1/18/11 and IRS says my taxes were okay. I went to the where's my refund web site and the site states that they have sent my check. My check is suppose to go to the HR Blocks bank to be processed so they can get their fees from me. After that they are suppose to direct deposit the check in my account. Every time I call my local office they tell me they have no way of knowing where it's at. I go to the online site and ask questions regarding this matter, and they delete every question I ask. I feel they do this so other sustomers doesn't see their unprofessional ethics. They will not answer my phone calls anymore nor will anyone talk to me. I will say this again. IRS has released my refund to HR Bank, so in other words HR Block has my money but yet they refuse to let me know what is happening. On top of that they charged me an additional 60.00 to do the RAC program, and promised I will have a refund in 15 days. What can I do, no one will talk to me or answer my questions?

H&R block lost my check and nobody i have talked to will help me. my next complaint is to the BBB and the Federal Government. i wont let this rest, because of h&R blocks error, my family suffers. What would you do? Please, someone help me. Without the run around and the 90 day wait. thats ridiculous service.

Where was your return? If your wife itemized deductions on her return and you are filing Married Filing Separately, then you are REQUIRED to itemize also. Did BOTH your preparers fail to mention the IRS delay? Considering that H&R Block's computer systems had a big Warning message as to the delay pop up when preparing a Schedule A, it seems unlikely that it would be missed.

Don't go to the online site and ask questions, and don't call the local office. GO PHYSICALLY BACK INTO THE OFFICE! Talk to the manager - don't be abusive or rude - but forcefully demand they call H&R Block bank (there IS a number for them) and find out what happened to your money. It should only be maximum of 3 days from the IRS deposit to your bank deposit. Something is wrong, like perhaps you owed back taxes or child support or outstanding student loans and the IRS garnished your refund to the point where there was nothing left after H&R Block took out their fees. OR you owed H&R Block or its affiliates something from prior years.

I agree that H&R Block are making promises that they can't keep. They have also lied to me. I recomend not filing with H&R block anymore. They should train their employees to be honest and professional. I filed my taxes early Jan. and I didn't itemize. IRS told me they released my check and that it went to H R Block so they could get their money for prepreation fees. Then it was suppose to be deposited into my account. Every time I call them they tell me that they can't find out where the money is. It's in their possesion any they are responsible for my refund. They delete every question I ask at the HR Block web site where you ask questions. They just keep running me around. IRS doesn't have my money anymore so where is it? It's not in my account and no one will talk to me.

I don't like H &R Block either, the one time I used them, they stated we owed three hundred in taxes. I wasn't given the tax credit for my children, and the "mistake" was caught by the IRS! We got a refund check for three thousand dollars. When my ex husband and I complained at the office our taxes were done, they refused to even offer an explanation, as to why one of their employee could be so neglectful. I wanted a refund the money we paid for our tax preperation, we were refused. I still don't understand how anyone could be so lousy at their job...

H&R Block / HRB Digital illegal and unethical employee behavior

On 02-08-2011, I arrived at a scheduled tax appointment at H&R Block at 7:00pm. I met with tax consultant, Quinessa, and began filing my taxes. After hearing I would owe this year I knew an error had been made. I requested we stop the process so I could go home, call my company, before filing. Tax consultant refused to return to me my tax information including my W2 and tax deduction information. We argued for 3 minutes about these items. Employee attempted to bully me and manipulate me into leaving the items, citing she needed them here so I would come back and file. I continued to demand she return them to me, which she eventually did, or so I thought. I drove home only to discover she had KEPT my W2 and NOT placed it in the packet. I immediately returned to the branch and demanded she give me my W2. She argued with me, again stating that I didn't need it and she should keep it because she needed it to file my taxes. The argument became heated because she repeatedly refused to give me MY W2. Her supervisor came over to inquire about the situation. She ignored his questions and continued to harass me and refuse to give me the W2. He then opened her desk because she would not and retrieved the W2, only after I contacted my employer on my cell phone in the office so they could see that I did in fact NEED those items returned to me. That W2 is MY property. And what the employee did was nothing short of theft. Had I not discovered the missing W2 and gone to file elsewhere, the outcome could have been disastrous for myself and my family. I beg of you to PLEASE deal with this out of control branch and their practices. I am severely disturbed and shaken by what occurred last night. Her behavior was erratic, irrational, and inexcusable. And again, NOTHING SHORT OF THEFT.

What you experienced is outrageous!

You should have threatened to call the Police and have her arrested and then actually called the Police.

You are correct that the W-2 is your property. She had no right
whatsoever to keep it.

H&R Block / HRB Digital treatment of employees

H & R Block has been providing free tax services for people who use Form 1040EZ. Most preparer work on commission and H & R Block does not pay them for doing these returns. There for the prices are raised for those who have to pay. Another case of those who have some people having to pay so the others can get something free.

I am more than happy to prepare taxes for a free 1040 EZ client. I give that client the same great service I give to any paying client. Hopefully, that client will continue to come to me later on when he or she has dependents, deductions, etc. The Free EZ program is a program designed to develop a relationship with young or lower-wage earning clientele, for the future. It's a great program that benefits everyone! I've been working for HRB for 7 years and I care for my clients. I'm not worried about my commission. My goal is to get the best possible result for my clients, and have them return to me next year. There are lots of tax pros like me working for Block. Karma pays!

Not quite true bbcddms.
While it is true H&R Block is not charging for the 1040EZ, it is not true
that the preparers get nothing. In fact, they still get what is referred to
in the biz as their "sit down money". This can be as much as $15 or so. Not bad for what should be no more than 30 minutes work.

In fact, if you are unfortunate enough to live in a state that requires a
state tax return, then your preparer will likely make nearly $5.00 more for preparing the state return, which in most cases takes no more than 1 additional minute if that long.

H&R Block / HRB Digital misleading advertisement

I have purchased H&R Block the last 2 years and Tax Cut before that. The box says +State. Which means state tax program included. Which the way it has always been. I purchased H&R Block Deluxe becasue it has everything I need. Well when I go to the state part I was required to purchase a state program which I had to do because I could not return what I bought because I had opened it. I am extremely dissappointed with this program. They cheated me out of $39.95. I ended up paying all most twice as much. This is not right with the economy the way it is nobody can afford to pay more for things and this was very sneaky on there part. Please let everyone know about this and maybe we can stop it from happening next year.

H&R Block / HRB Digital scam

I went to Hr Block to get the rapid 24-48 hour refund to get a car quick to get back and forth to work. After signing all of my papers agreeing to pay the 368.00 prep fee and the 32.00 bank fee, she then tells me that they have changed policy to every one having to wait 8-15 days for your return and still called it a refund anticipation. The thing that bothered me was that I told her that I needed my refund asap to get a car and she still waited until I agreed to pay to tell me this. I will not be going back as I see that as dishonest.

I had used H & R block last you and filed a basic return for free. However this year at the end They wanted $29.95 to file. Customer service said during the process they down loaded last years information, changing you Free file to basic that is $29.95 to file. You are only told this at the end after all your time and effort. Beware, they are counting on you to give in and pay the charge. Very deceptive and deliberate! I will try Turbo Tax free online service. H and R Block should be made to stop this deceptive scam.

I went to H&R Block for the early loan at Christmas and was approved for a $900.00 loan. Before I took the loan I asked my preparer how and if I could reserve some of the loan for my payments. She replied yes. I asked her how much could be reserved and she told me as much as I wanted of the $900.00 could be reserved and could only be taken out of reserve by me calling and having it transferred to available credit. Ok, so I reserved $100.00 for the use of making my payments. Well when I called to make the transfer, the money was not there.

They are doing this to everyone. They just settled a huge lawsuit with thier bank and cant provide a 1-2 day ral loan unless you have a credit score of more than 700+ So since the IRS is not releasing any previous debts a consumer might owe state/ or federal like they did in years past, H & R Block leaves out this little tidbit of information til you already agree and they have filed your paperwork. Lovely aint it!

First of all. H&R Block is NOT advertising "free simple refunds".

They are advertising Free 1040EZ preparation and filing.
Whether you have a refund or a balance due is irrelevant.

Second, your tax preparer has a duty to get you the maximum
refund allowed by law, not the cheapest possible return.

Third, when you saw the price of the return was not free, why did you then sign the documents instructing H&R Block to e-file your tax return?

What you need to learn right now, is you don't sign a contract
instructing a company to take action on your behalf unless you do
in fact want them to take that action.

Life is hard. It is even harder if your stupid. Start taking responsibility
for your actions.

Sorry MIKED007, Schedule EIC is not part of 1040EZ.
It is an entirely different form and it can be filed with 1040EZ, 1040A, or 1040.
Call the IRS back and talk to a more experienced agent.
The Florida law you are attempting to cite is irrelevant to this situation.

Actually MIKED007, the flier does inform you that there will be an
additional charge if EIC is claimed. If you didn't want to pay for EIC, you should have told them to remove it from the return, but I am guessing
that your EIC was more than $42. Am I right? Cheers!

Charizmah. Turbo Tax is a great program, but be sure that you understand every line on your tax return and where the corresponding number came from.

If you can't understand and explain every line, then you are only asking for trouble. Good Luck!

LOL, I read your post twice JMastrianoCPA. I hope your firm does a better job representing taxpayers, than you did in offering advice to the
original poster. Since you apparently have so much business you can
do no more than spam this board, I will try to help the original
poster.

corchado, it sounds like you may have filed Schedule A Itemized Deductions. Unfortunately, Congress passed several tax laws late in 2010. IRS stated they would need until Feb 14th 2011 to get their systems up to speed for electronic filers of certain forms.
This electronic filing delay is not the fault of H&R Block or any other company filing electronic returns. To put it simply, it is the fault of
the United States Congress. Keep that in mind when it is time to vote!

Your preparer should have advised you of the IRS delay and the impact it would have on your refund. I doubt going to one of Block's
competitors would have produced a different outcome. Good Luck next year!

Do not go to HR Block anymore. Why pay hundreds of dollars when you can efile on Turbotax for free? It makes no sense. I have a friend who used Turbotax and received his tax return days before I'm supposed to from HR Block. That was $200 down the drain and I still haven't received it. Go anywhere but HR Block. Even Jackson Hewitt is better.

H&R Block / HRB Digital can't do taxes

So I went to H+R Block this year because I thought maybe I was losing money doing it online. Not true! The "Tax Professional" was a first year tax student at the local college. I will admit, I was nervious when she kept talking about her tax 100 class. She wanted me to pay over 300 dollars and that was after she messed up my taxes, telling me that I was actually getting a thousands dollars more that I actually was. They didnt even find the error, my wife did. My wife went in, no tax experience, and asked a few smart questions. They realized thier computers had messed up our estimate. I went home and did the return in an hour, got the exact same estimate for 1/10th the price.

H&R Block / HRB Digital website redirect, browser hijack

When trying to click on specific irs links through google, I am redirected to the h&r block website. I did not request this website nor did I wish to go there. When I attempt to back up, it repeatedly goes back to the h&r site. Finally I get back to the google search page, check the link I clicked and sure enough it says irs.Gov. I do not doubt that this is partly due to the cookies I have failed to delete. However, I would like to complain that h&r block has obviously paid for the services that allowed them to hijack my browser. It is deceptive and I don't think that a business with their reputation should have to stoop to such tactics in order to have my business. They have surely lost my business because of this.

Another possible explanation, is H&R Block has paid advertising dollars to Google. I know, I know you thought Google was your friend. In reality
they have bills to pay, just like everyone else.

There are two things that are brought into question from your complaint.

The first is that you are accusing H&R block of breaking several federal laws. If you truly feel this way then you should file a complaint with http://www.ic3.gov

It is also very unlikely that the sites your visiting are the actual H&R block or even irs.gov websites. During this time of year many phishing websites are created like this to trick people into giving them their personal information.

I recommend that you have someone look over your system. Perform the appropriate scans and remediation steps to remove the 'nasties' on your system.

H&R Block / HRB Digital screwed up tax return

Wife and I receive railroad retirement benfits and there are certain different rules to filing a return. I called the local H & R Block office and asked if they were knew how to do a return involving railroad retirement and they lied and said yes, they had no clue, in addition I recently transfered my IRA and they did not know how to show that on my return. about 18 months later a get a letter from the IRS wanting another $26, 000 in taxes, I finally got that straight when I sent prove that I did not spend my IRA but transfered it, then the IRS wanted another 2, 600 because of the way H & R reported my HSA (health savings account) finally got that straight, H & R are a bunch of incompitent clowns, every time I receive something from them or see theirs adds, my BP goes up.

Ed Henry, you have a return that is beyond what most 1st or 2nd year
preparers are capable of preparing. It makes no difference which
company you go to, all of them have to hire new people and new people
have to learn before they can soar like eagles with the rest of us.

When you call any tax office, you will more than likely be talking
to a receptionist with zero tax knowledge. She or he, has been instructed
to say: " Sure we can do whatever return you have, can I set you up with an appointment?" Sorry Ed, that is just how the tax business works. If you decide to go back to H&R Block, ask for an appointment with an Enrolled Agent. He or she will be competent enough to handle your somewhat harder than average return. Cheers!

H&R Block / HRB Digital incorrect tax return

I have had my taxes done for years at H & R Block. This year I went to a tax professional. After he reviewed my last years taxes, he found that H & R Block did not give me earned income credit for my daughter. Their mistake cost me over $3, 000! After looking at my previous taxes, he discovered they have never given me the earned income credit for her. I am now owed the wopping total of close to $10, 000 from the IRS. I called the local H & R Block and the "manager" told me sorry, their system is down from all the tax returns they are preparing and to call him tomarrow morning. This is total inexcusable! I can only refile back to 2007. How do I go about getting all the money that is owed me?

H&R Block / HRB Digital terrible, unprofessional service

I called H&R Block 01/24/2011 at 120 .west 87th. St. to make an appointment to see Mr. Fredrick Monu. I was told that he doesn't come into the office until 5pm, but if I needed an earlier appointment all I had to do was give a time and he would come in early. I told the lady I needed to come in Thursday on my off day at 12:00 she said make it 12:30. I said fine!
Thursday I get to H&R and I ask the woman at the front desk if I could see Mr. Monu. she said, he doesn't come in until 5. I told her I made an appointment to see him earlier. She looks at something on her computer and apparently finds the appointment I made, and says he's not here . I'm the office manager(whatever that's supose to mean) would you like to see someone else? I said no thanks I need to see Mr. Monu. She called Mr. Monu and aasked if he could come in early. Obviously he was unaware of my appointment because he was never told. So this lady asks if I wanted to leave my tax package and when Mr. monu came in at 3:00 he could do the taxes. So I left the package and went to my car. Something told me not to do this. They couldn't make a simple appointment how can I rely on them for this! So I went back in and told the lady I had a bad feeling about this and I can't leave this. She picked up the package and shoved it at me and said HERE, HAVE A GOOD ONE! I didn't make the mistake, they did!
Mr. Fredrick Monu had been preparing taxes for my wife and I for years at this location. But this year would be very different. My wife Deborah Thomas died 3 months ago, she knew Mr. for around 10 years. It was critical that I sit with him as we did every year. I had a 1099 question and a question about my son's tuition. This lady was extremely beligerent and unprofessional. More concerned with how she looked in front of other people.
Now I have to try to set up another appointment with Mr. monu and avoid her retaliation.
If Mr. Monu reads this maybe he can call me at [protected] Please.

What you need to know about appointments is that once they are
made, it is up to the Tax Pro to ensure that he is available to prepare the
return, or if that is not possible he should arrange to have it rescheduled
by the appropriate person if he does not have time to do it himself.

If, when you do see Mr. Monu advise him on what happened so
appropriate corrective action can be taken to ensure this situation
does not happen again. As a preparer with 10+ years experience, I feel certain Mr. Monu can get the message to the appropriate person.
Good Luck!

I filed my taxes. The company is advertising free filing. They told me what I would get back. I received my check but the stub was not there. When I went to cash it, I couldnt without the stub. I had to fight to get the stub. Once I recieved it I saw that over 374.oo had been taken as fees. Never was I told about these fees, they let me think I was filing free as the TV advertisement suggested.
I was not given the fees before hand to allow me to make a choice as to whether I wanted to pay these charges. I would have gone to my regular filer If I had known as they were over $150.00 cheaper.

H&R Block / HRB Digital fraud

Have been a customer for a long time but never again. First I was lied to about getting an instant refund then lied to again and told no one was doing instants this year so did the 8 to 15 day any way because it was too late at that that point now they received my state funds yesterday and still have not posted them to my account. They tell me they will be posted by five their time today after giving me the run around and telling me to call the state. That is when I found out the state issued my money to them yesterday. I call them back now they inform me they have the money they just haven't posted it yet and they are taking their fees from that instead of from my federal because the state is coming in first so its costing four hundred dollars to receive my taxes on the same day as my fiance and I did his for free on e-file this is FRAUD! Plain and simple and it needs to stop!

H&R Block / HRB Digital misleading liers

I went to H&R Block this year expecting to get the same great service i received last year. After calling the appointment line to try to get in for a Emerald Advance i was given the wrong appointment day and wrong office and when i showed up to where i thought my appointment was i was told i had no appointment scheduled there. I had asked the appointment line guy if i could just walk in and be seen and he said no i had to make a appointment and found out later that was a lie. Anyways i apply for the advance with someone who was at least 80 (not lying) and said he had not done a Emerald Advance before but there was no one else that could help at the time ( poor old guy i felt sorry for him so i allowed him to do my application anyways) well i ended up pretty much doing the application myself because he kept entering the wrong info into the computer but i got approved anyways so i was happy. I went back after i got my W-2's to file my return and told the preparer i wanted my refund back the same way i got last year which was a RAL and he kept mentioning something about a RAC and i kept asking what that was and was told we would go over all of that once we were done ( RAC sounded like the same as a RAL to me) i was asked about childcare expenses when it came to that part and i told them i had almost $3000 in expenses but he made it seem like i didnt have enough to claim and that it wouldnt be worth getting the receipt for ( last year my husband was a stay at home dad so we didnt have childcare last year so i didnt know anything about that credit) so he made it seem like it would make no difference on my tax return well at the end of it all i find out that i have to wait 8-15 days for my tax return which i should have been told that they do not do the RAL's anymore and i was also lied to when i asked about it and was told no one was doing the RAL's anymore because the IRS has banned them. Jackson and Hewitt still does RAL's but will not ever be going there again either and that is a whole nother story! Was told when we came back to complain that they would see if we could file a ammended tax return to claim the childcare expenses at no expense but a couple days later got a nasty and rude 5 minute message saying it was our fault for that and that we would have to pay if we wanted it done. Well maybe it was somewhat our fault for trusting them to know how to file a tax return and telling us we could have gotten another $500 for the childcare but next year i will go elsewhere and will use a accountant which only charges around $100-150 instead of the approximate $260 i was charged and would get it back sooner too! Oh and did i mention the guy that did my 2nd return was around 70! I will be filing my ammended return myself!

i am a father of three, who was laid off one week before i recieved my w2's. I went ti h&r block for a rapid refund. after my taxes were filed, they then explained to me about an 8-15 day waiting period. that was when i found out there was no more rapid refund. they told me it was to late to change my mind & go somewhere else, because the filing was done. i was charged $349.50 for there service, $32.00 for bank fees, and $13.00 for state. my 15th day was yesterday & there's no money. i called the i.r.s. & they told me if H&R BLOCK's waiting on them they'll get to it when they get to it. i then talked to a supivisor for h&r block, and he told me i am waiting for the i.r.s. . my e-file was accepted on the 17th w/the i.r.s. & it is now the 29th. i am now told by H&R BLOCK to just keep calling until the refund is put onto my emerald green card. the supervisor told me it's out of there hands. what did i pay almost $400.00 for then. it only cost you $1.00 to do your taxes through the i.r.s.. i bet next year we all who have dealt w/theses losers will take our business elsewhere. they are screwing people out of what they did stand for. lesson learned. my name is james p. courtney & i 100% percent stand behind everything that i've said isscrewy about H&R BLOCK. they have conned this year, & i truely hope they go bankrupt next year. i know someone who works for them & they don, t have a diploma of any kind. they paid $99.00, took a course, got the job. there's your professional H&R BLOCK. sorry to everyone screwed this year by these con artists.

i am really mad right now, went to h and r block to do my taxes...i stay at home taking care of my 7 month old while my bf works, my child was born in june of 2010 so i only worked half the year. while i was fileing my taxes i told him direct and clear that i stay at home, im not married, have a child and live with my boyfriend who is the childs father, i didnt make alot last year because i worked till june and i was part time only making under 10, 000. but my boyfriend makes 36, 000, and i told the guy who would be better off claiming our child and he said i would because my bf makes over the 35, 000 so im like ok whatever i guess it doesnt matter we are getting back something.
i got home and told my bf i did my taxes and then i told him that i was told that he could not claim our daughter becuase he makes over the limit. he was really confused and said that sounds messed up, im like well i cant help it im sorry you make to much, ill just half the money with you. i really was getting mad at my bf because he wouldnt let it go, and i told him im sorry theres nothing we can do i told you that already, the man showed me a paper.
well he still wouldnt drop it so i looked online and saw that thats not true and i was sorta confused so i called a different tax preparation and i told them my story and they were suprised that h and r block did that to me telling me that they never heard of if you make a certain amount you cant claim your child and at 36, 000 i dont see why they said that. well i was fired up and about to go into h and r block and give my opion and what there doing is wronge, but i thought i will call, i got on the phone and told them what i found out and the man was suprised and i told him who did my taxes and the man said that he was sorry and that he might have misunderstood me, im like ok how do you misunderstand someone when your doing your taxes and your talking face to face and your very detailed about your income, and he is doing my taxes so he knows what i made. the man on the phone said something about an income credit and claiming children, im like ok i understand what you are telling me but that was not what i asked i was told he could not claim her becuase he makes to much, he never said anything about that. i just wanted to know would get more tax return if claiming a child, the man asked if i wanted to come in to have a look at them again and something about doing them over but i hear about high charges for that so whats the use and i dont want to wait forever for my taxes, im waiting 8-15 so im just going to wait. i will never go to h and r block agian, and i found out they only charge high charges if your claiming dependents, i paid almost 300 to get my taxes done becuase im claiming a child, my friend told me that thats outragious. im not sure if the reason i had bad luck was because this was my first year claiming a child and i might have said something that he didnt hear, but still i was clear on everything so im not sure what to thinkg.
next year im just going to go to a different tax preparation place, there is one down the block from me, not everyone has bad experiences but this was mine, i just dont want to have to go through the same game i went through the first time, its just like if you were to get a f-ed up haircut, your not going to go back to the place becuase they might do the same mistake.

"Don't trust your financial well-being to these part-time "accountants" who only brush up on the tax code a few months out of the year."

Sorry but had to say this ROFL :):)
In high school I took 2 years of computers and accounting.
Do you think they would hire me right out of high school
NO
What they wanted was people with sales experience not math, computers, accounting, skills.
Yes it was high school but it was better than nothing.

And just so you know even after they have figured out what your refund will be you are still under no obligation to have them file it for you. Until you sign it you can walk away at any time. I was almost sure that these type of places would not be open this year. But I was wrong. They are open and they are depending on people that are for one reason or another depending them to do their taxes when 90% of them can do it on their own. And I am sure that the number is higher as they will not do business taxes. They will tell you to go to an accountant for that. I will extend my prediction that this year they will have a lot of unhappy customers. Most of these companies will be gone within 3-5 years. As the government is making it easier each year to do your taxes on line thru them. It really does eliminate errors which makes the process easier each year.

This is why I do my taxes myself. Yes the government has changed the laws regarding RAL's. However that guy that told you that they banned it is full of it. they changed a law on the info that these companies use to use to give you your check. you see they were in essence running a credit report on you. Which is no big deal right. You see most states prohibit any information that is concerning children and the courts to be available online. Adults records and court proceedings are fine but nothing concerning children. And what they were doing was getting information on whether or not you owed back child support. If you did not they would write you a check. Well the government passed a law that removed their ability to get that information. And in turn they are making you wait to get your check. Really makes them useless now in my book. As you can file your tax return for free if you make under I believe 50K last year. And the computer will find all of the credits you are entitled to for you. It will ask you questions and you answer and fill in the blanks. And you can have them direct deposit your refund into your account which will take just as long as you waiting for these places to write you a check. Or the government will mail you a check.
It is really easy to file your taxes on your own especially if it is a simple return. I do not suggest it if you have your own business though. There are many laws that most do not know about. Unless you are like me and will spend weeks reading everything before you file you run a great risk of doing something wrong. Which can cost you.
As far as you filing an amendment. It is really very easy to do this. Go to your local IRS building and get the proper form. you can even have them help you with it. And they will not charge you to do this.

The same thing happened to me. I have filed my taxes with H&R Block for 15 years always getting my refund back in 3-5 days. This year I was not told until after my taxes were figured that they did not offer this service anymore and it would be 8-15 days before I received my refund with an RAC. I could have save myself the $297 and filed on my own and got it back in 8-15 days, which I will do next year. They told me over the phone that it was their policy not to discuss refund policies until after they figure the taxes because they don't know if the person will receive a refund or not. I then explained to the lady that I was not stupid, they are not telling people about the change because then most people will leave and maybe go to Jackson Hewitt who is offering the RAL still. I feel like I was totally mislead by H&R and will never use them again. With all the low cost tax programs out there I will be filing on my own from now on.

H&R Block / HRB Digital h&r block are liars!

We have been trying to get our $400 back from these jerks for over a week now. We have been lied to and just want our money back! We tried to place an order online for $400 for our son for a pocketbike. The order did not go thru because the vendor did not have the item in stock. Well H&R Block kept telling us to wait 24 hours for the money to be put back on the card. Then they tell us that we have to contact the vendor and have them send a fax saying it's ok to release the money to them. The vendor will not do that because the order never went thru because they didn't have the item in, therefore they can't release money they never had Every time we call customer service we talk to someone that can't speak English. I am so sick of calling them and getting the run-around. All we want is our son's $400 back that he worked hard to save up! Do not ever get one of these cards!

I have been using an emerald card for five years and all of a sudden this yr I go to an atm machine and try to withdrawl 400 but I only got 100 I sent in all of my paper work to the dispute company and a week later they gave me the 300 that was owed to me. A week later my account is negative and when I call they give me the run around for 2 hrs! And they tell me I was only shirted 40 dollars, which is incorrect, mist if not all of us count our money after it is withdrawled from an atm now they are taking money from my paychecks and I am unsure of what to do now since I have never dealt with this sort of problem. I just want my money from them

I ran into this one time with my Emerald Card, I paid for a baseball registration $150 online and something went wrong and they payment did not go through, but $150 "hold" was put on my card. I called Emerald Card people and they faxed a paper over to the baseball league to verify that the transaction had been cancelled and the funds were no longer needed and it was OK to release the funds, I received the money back in 3 business days.
