I order a movie that was suppose to ship out on 1-4-10 and almost 2 wks later it hadn't. I told them to cancel my order, but they didn't and they shipped it a few days later. The post office said they tried to deliver it but it was addressed wrong, that was 1-21-10. On 2-2-10 the post office shipped it back to hotmoviesales.com but I haven't gotten my money back or my money almost 2 months later. Don't ever use this web site!

I purchased a movie online for my daughter after doing some comparison shopping, and I did receive the movie. I read things very carefully when I am ordering, and saw NOTHING about a membership being intiated by my order. I am a very busy working mother, but i do balance out bank account and all charges weekly. I noticed a 9.95 charge for several months in a row to HotMovies.com. I had orderred several moives around Christmas, so I thought those were the charges for others, and I didn't check as close as usual. After further investiagation, I see that this co. automatically enrolls you in their club and you pay monthly dues just because you purchase something from them. That is very underhanded, and I did catch it before too much money was wasted, and went to the website, and cancelled my 'membership'. Thanks for nothing Hot Movies.com. I will never spend another dime at your site, nor will anyone I know.

They are billing when I don't have an account with them. I had no idea they were not recommended to do business with. I would like the money to stop coming out of my account please. Is thier anything I can do to fix this. P-LEASE HELP!

i do not know where this company is located or much about it. I placed an order for a video on E-bay or Amazon and am being charged for an account that I do not have. I have been billed for at least 4 months if not longer. Can we have something done about this, as it appears - they are billing others without having an account. Plus, i want my money back

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE and THEY"RE THIEVES!

I ordered a movie back in Oct 2009... they claim it was delivered to me, the post office denied ever receiving it. The customer service rep was incredible rude and told me that it wasn't there issue. I asked to speak with a manger and after about an hour... I was transfered to one. He then issued the movie again, this time to a different location (in case that was the issue the first time). A month and a half goes by and still not movie. I called and got, yet again, another unhelpful representative --- only to be passed off to a manger that was COMPLETELY belittling and rude. He told me that the vendor for the movie contacted them over a month earlier to say that the movie was not shipped and never will be as they don't produce it any more. HotMovieSale.com claims they had every intension on crediting my account. The issue is that the card I used was upgraded through my back to a rewards card and the number has changed, there for the manager told me there eas nothing he could do and got hostile on the phone. Completely unacceptable and I pormise you that company should not be in existence if that is how they operate, NO communication skills and/or customer service. You're telling me that they can't issue a check for the balance to apese a customer? Any other company would do that... They are unfit and not qualified to be working with people.

Thanks,
Tara

Same story from me. I ordered 2 DVDs back in March 2009. Little did I know that I had been signed up for their monthly "subscription" and the, then, fee of $9.95 (now $19.95 as of 11/2011) was being taken from my credit card on the 30th of each month. Unfortunately, we did not spot this recurring charge until Bank of America contacted me to question the $9.95 for 11/30/2011. Why they chose to contact me now is a mystery but I suspect they have had a number of complaints and are now actively contacting customers who have purchased videos from this company.
After a phone call to "customer service" and numerous emails, the company gave me a 2 month refund. Last night my wife received a phone call from a "deescalation specialist" who proceeded to shout at her. He insisted that I had signed up for the monthly subscription and they had issued a partial refund.
Clearly this is deceptive business practice designed to trap people with the automatic monthly "subscription".
Contacting BBB may or may not have any real effect. Perhaps contacting the State Attorney's General office may be of some use.

The same thing has happened to me. I've ordered some movies. Which I promptly received, with a nice bill mentioning only the charges for the movies. It was not until months later that I noticed that they were charging $19.99 each month on my card. I again looked at their website. In the terms and conditions it mentioned that there might be a membership fee but then it refers to their webpage again. On the web page there is a sidebar which stated that when you order one movie, they will automatically enroll you in their membership program, and charge the card you used every month till you cancel the membership. They are nice enough to keep that of the bill they, send me nor did they send a separate bill for it. They are clearly hoping that you do not notice it and keep on paying this fee. It has scam written all over it.

ACTUALLY I WOULD LIKE TO THANK HOTMOVIES.COM. IT HAS TREATED ME AND THOSE WHO USE IT WITH KINDNESS, COMPASSION, AND GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. WHEN I ORDERED THE MOVIES, THEY DELIVERED THEM ONTIME AND EVEN GAVE ME A DISCOUNT FOR A YEAR. I PAID 0.50 CENTS PER FILM. I WAS SO HAPPY. I AM SORRY BUT THE WOMAN ABOVE IS THE FIRST PERSON I HAVE EVER HEARD OF WHO HAS COMPLAINED. SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE HAS PERSONAL PROBLEMS.

Same thing is happening to me. I don't know where they got my number. Did you buy anything online before this? All I had bought was a DVD set which was for school.
