Hertz rental car

I rented a car through Hotwire.com and I paid when I made the rental. After I got to Phoenix, AZ on December 21st Skyharbor airport I was shuttled to the rental lot. After using the self service machine and speaking to a guy on the phone I told him the price he was charging was to high and that I had a hotwire reservation. He did something on his computer and came up with a price close to the price I had (off by less that a dollar so I thought it was a tax error, or rounding error). Well, it turned out it was an additional amount. So the $179.80 I paid December 6th was just a down payment for the Dec 21- Dec 26th rental. It ended up costing me an addition $180.54. ADDITION. I know I say a couple of times this is my reservation. I didn't realize that the Nissan Versa was an upgrade. Which is crazy since it is like a 12K car. I will NEVER rent from Hertz again and probably not Hotwire. I feel that the companies did not deliver on what I wanted and what was order. Crazy thing is I put something like 400 miles on the car. Taxis might have ended up being cheaper.

Hertz customer service

While waiting to retrieve a rental car 12/30/16 approximately 10:22a.m. at the location (13040 I-10 Service Rd. as the young lady whom was working alone to service 6-7 customers the manager refused to answer the telephone or come and assist as a team manager would do. The young lady (Lashonda) worked expeditiously as she could to accommodate those waiting! I, than approached the Manager (David Higgins) and asked would anyone or him be able to assist and his reply was that he's short staffed! 🤔 What happened to team work? Poor leadership. The phones were constantly ringing as she were too answering phones and renting cars.

Hertz incorrectly charged my cc / horrible customer service.

I rented the vehicle at the Lynbrook location customer service there is horrible so I ended up switching cars at the Rockville Centre location where the manager there assure me they would take take of everything directly with my mechanic shop across the street. I ended up with two different invoices and a charge of $1766 on 10/16 I'm still working on getting the refund promised by the manager Steve at the Lynbrook location . Who fail several times to return my calls when promised. Spoke to him in person and he assume me a refund and a follow up call and a email with the details of the refund this was on the 12/22/16 I'm still waiting on that call 12/30/16. Hertz child seat charges

I rented a vehicle from 15 December 2016 to 26 December 216 at Mazatlan international airport location, at the time of the reservation I applied my AAA membership and was given a estimated price of 429 dlls, I also indicated the need of a child seat, one of the benefits of being a AAA member (as indicated by Hertz web site) is that the child seat rental is free. At the time of arrival and when signing the rental documents noticed a charge of 12 dlls per day, when asked the hertz representative she told me that they did not honored my AAA membership, how ever I did get a discount for my reservation so obviously they do honor AAA membership, my expected total bill supposed to be 429 dlls and I end up paying 661.89 dlls, which 132 dlls went towards the car seat and the other 100 dlls went towards other fees. I am very disappointed with Mazatlan's hertz customer service, I request a refund of 132 dlls that I paid for the car seat rental. If I would have known that I was going to be charged for it then I would have brought mine in the airplane. I can provide all required documentation as requested (reservation number, receipts etc)

Hertz no gas in tank

I rented a car on 12/23/16 from Pittsburgh International Airport and got 30 miles out of the pickup and the empty light goes on...no gas! So I pulled to the side of the road and call the roadside assistance to make sure they note it on the record so that I don't get charged again when I bring the car back empty upon return. The person on the phone agreed they had made a mistake and he noted the error. I also let them know when I drop the car off and the response was rather rude and basically said call a 1-800 number. I reached out to Hertz via twitter and facebook and the response was that their records say the car was full and therefore they must go by their records. Really? I have a credit card charge for the gas that I HAD TO PUT INTO THE CAR 30 miles from the airport as well as a rental record stating "fuel out"...thought that was a bad answer...didn't even ask me more questions but just said "You are a liar"...Will never use this company again

Hertz returning a rental car at the end of hire period

We hired a car from Hertz in Orvieto Italy for one week. The return time and date was 26 December 2016 at 12.30pm.
I filled the car with fuel and rove to the agency at 12.15 pm. We were booked on the 1.25pm train to Rome.
To my dismay I discovered that the branch was not open and that there was no drop-off box for the key. Further the phone numbers I was given either failed to answer or went straight to voice main with instructions in Italian.
We were at a loss about what to do. Eventually I contacted someone who said, give the key to Nando. I had no idea where this was and the person I was speaking to had little English. Eventually I found a bar called nando and the girl behind the bar took the key. It was an unpleasant and stressful war to end our business. Today I had a call from someone asking where was the key? I assume they have found it.

Hertz rental car

I made a reservation on line with the hertz in woodbridge, nj, confirmation number H1564465448. I booked a car from dec. 23, 2016 til january 2, 2017. An hour and a half before i was supposed to pick up my rental, Hertz calls to inform me that they had overbooked the holiday and there was no cars left in the northeastern region. Really? They left me no time to reserve another car, especially on a holiday. I had 10 days of reservations booked around this rental. I will never rent from Hertz again & i will tell anybody who will listen not to trust or rent from Hertz. Woodbridge gave me a customer service number, which was only automated. So i looked up another number, and their representative told me the same thing. Nothing available in the whole northeastern region. I think this is so unprofessional, why would you wait til the last possible minute to let me know.

Hertz dawn's disrespectful, rude behavior

We (my adult daughter and I) went to the Norfolk, VA Airport location to pick-up her rental. The process did not go as we hoped with the issues of paying with one method regardless of the number of drivers. That was not the problem. The problem was Dawn at the desk. She did a poor job of explaining the process in terms of what she would Not do after she had already taken certain steps such as running a credit card for funds in an amount that was not clear to my daughter prior to it being done. When we requested to cancel the reservation in order to down-grade, Dawn stated there was no such thing as cancelling a reservation, that it would automatically cancel if we didn't pick up the vehicle. We said we wanted to make a new reservation with the downgrade and she stated it was fraud. She said it would be fraud for her to help us get a vehicle for a price we wanted to pay. I asked how it was fraud if s customer arrived at a total making a purchase they didn't want to pay and before I could finish my statement she began speaking loudly over me saying it was fraud and not the same thing. She then began to escalate in her behavior by twisting her neck and stating she wasn't going to lose her job for us. I looked at my daughter and stated we should make another reservation ourselves since it would cancel and that sometimes people misinterpreted policies, but would speak as if they knew something. Dawn became aggressive in tone, loud at which time I said I would record her so reached for my phone, and she continued to talk loudly over me. When I stated she should calm down, not talk over me and I would also take her picture, she said not to record her at that time and that she would call the police. I told her to call them and I told my daughter we would file a complaint with the company. A manager at the North Military Highway identified herself as the manager of the Airport location, she was apologetic and said she would look into the matter. We decided not to rent from the Airport where the Mini-van which was booked over a month in advance was one of few locations where it could be found. My daughter is a Wal-Mart employee and we will inform the company how one of the employees at a vendor behaved. Dawn needs training in knowing when to stop talking, listening when the customer is speaking, and offering customers options versus belittling the customer while suggesting the customer behaved unethically. There was another employee present who seemed to shy away from the event as she sat in her seat with her hand on her chin. I have part of the video where I can be heard saying Dawn needed to calm down and stop talking over me. She was happy to yell out at me even when I said I would audio record her. Only when I said I would take her picture did she decide to digress from her aggressive behavior. I hope were never see her again at a Hertz store because she is not a good representative of customer service. She represents how to make a situation escalate to violence if the customer is willing and easily provoked.

Hertz hire rental

I hired a car from Hertz in Cape Town in November 2015 and signed for and paid the premium to cover all damage to the vehicle. Following the hire a slight indent (with no paint damage) was noticed to the vehicle on the nearside front wing. Hertz wanted to charge me some R5000. This was disputed through MasterCard who removed the charge from account. Hertz are now harassing me for the payment -see attached. I have always used Hertz as a matter of first choice but will not do so in the future

Hertz plate pass

Confirm # H0873203772
I rented the car with no problems. Today, I get a text from Amex notifying me that American Traffic Solutions was charging me $38.50 for tolls during this rental.
I never asked for your plate pass, nor was notified I was getting it. I used my own iPass when going threw the tolls. To top it off, I was told that the bulk of the charge (about $26.00) was a Hertz administrative charge.
When I asked Natalie #1947 to speak to a supervisor, she refused.
I want to be credited back ASAP.
please advise.

Hertz car rental cheaper at enterprise

I was quoted 370.80 For an Hyundai Elantra when I picked it up. For unlimited mileage from 19 Dec 2016- 31 Dec 2016.

The same car Elantra @ Enterprise (next door) is only 308. 63 For unlimited mileage from 19 Dec 2016-31 Dec 2016. I believe this is the Car Rental company I will deal with now and in the future

Either match the price or I will bring the car back to Hertz, and rent from Enterprise.

Hertz award points expiring

Hertz Gold Plus Awards expire after 24 months of activity. I did have activity in the previous months and the points expired because it was the "wrong" activity.
Member # [protected]

Had I known this was the wrong activity it would have been simple and beneficial to take the appropriate action to avoid losing 2750 points ( 1 week car rental). I planned to use these points next month. The points expired last month.
A harsh penalty for a misunderstanding. Hertz also could have sent a simple email reminder concerning the expiring points
Not a customer focused company

Hertz Service

Hertz tales of terror for people of color... Absolutely atrocious, rude, racist customer service!, 1619 westover terrace, greensboro, nc

I was treated with such disrespect by daniel and bryce petty!. Daniel looked at me with complete hatred and contempt!. If looks could kill, i would be dead!, after traveling an hour to hertz, daniel didn't even crack a smile, like i said i could feel the racial hatred flowing out of him. When i voiced my concerns about his attitude, he glared at me and told me "i dont even have to rent a car to you. I was in total shock as my insurance company set up the rental and was going to directly pay this place for my rental car. I asked for his manager and the whole time bryce, the manager was in the back listening to us be talked down to like trash. Bryce came out with a devilish grin and i stated to him, have you heard whats going on out here?. Bryce replied yup.. I stated "so what do you think of the way he has treated me. Bryce grins and states "i think he has treated you professionally. What! I thought to myself. The manger who is to assure customer satisfaction just allowed his comrade to treat me and probably many more like trash. I asked bryce for his manager or who is above him. Bryce laughed at me and said waving his hands "i don't have to tell you anything". I was gobsmacked!. I couldn't believe i had no support from this staff of 3. I could tell the lady that was also there wanted to say something in our defense but could not, all she could do was shrug her shoulders when we asked what there problem was. The lady said "i dont know, they are usually cherry", i stated to them i had such a good experience here the last time i had a rental from her and i returned my rental in pristine condition.. It was great service at the time, no hassles at all. Bryce then stated oh well, we are the new management. Ah ha! Thats it, i thought to myself... This is why its so bad right now, , what a shame.. I started to cry and my voice was shaking, i couldn't understand why i was treated so badly by these two men.. I thought i was in the twilight zone and to add insult too injury before my arrival i was assure by a phone agent my reservation fee would be waved.. Lies!. The reservation fee could not be waved at all... Luckily i had the money but unfortunately, i was so upset, felt so bad and felt so demeaned. I called my insurance company in hertz lobby and told my insurance company of what i was experiencing, they were vert empathetic with me as i could not keep my composure and started to cry again. My insurance company called enterprise a block down from hertz and we hurriedly asked daniel and bryce for our cash reservation application, in which they told me i had to wait 2 hours for them to process, smh; (And went right over to enterprise rental... The ladies there were so understanding when i told them my experience and told me... Surprisingly! I was not the only customer that has left hertz with tales of terror... Wow.. Well i left enterprise with car keys in hand and headed back home.. I so wanted to go by hertz and give them the finger;) but two wrongs dont make a right. I called corporate and will leave it there.

Hertz unauthorized credit card charges

Hertz Reference # [protected] Hertz Contract # [protected]
December 9, 2016
Dear Hertz Customer Service,
We are Icelanders, K-C and Judy Tran, residing at 23 Strandvegur, 210 Gardabaer, Iceland.
We are seeking your help to overcome the harassment by Hertz and its collection agency on an illegitimate claim.
The issue started in the summer of 2016 when we rented a vehicle from Hertz, Gare du Nord, Paris, France. Details of what went wrong with the rental are described below.
Our Visa provider, Valitor, was able to recover our money from the illegal charge by Hertz. Valitor successfully recovered the mischarged amount of 1, 016.01 euros, which has been credited to our account, because Hertz was not able to produce the necessary information substantiating their charge. Valitor considered the case officially closed.
We paid Hertz the rental charges and Insurance in full, as agreed in the contract.
Hertz should have closed the case. Instead, the company sent us invoices and threatened to ruin our credit rating with its collecting agency.
Below we have provided you a letter of complaint to Hertz and its collection agency, in our email of November 3, 2016, detailing the facts of what happened to us and how we were mischarged.
Please help us to close the case with you.
Thank you for your assistance in advance.

KC and Judy Tran

Email sent to [protected]@hertz.com at 10:44pm GMT on Nov. 3, 2016:

Dear Hertz and Jeremy,
1. I just talked with my Visa provider, Valitor, and they said that the money HAS NOT been back charged yet. .
2. We rented a vehicle from you at Paris Gare du Nord on 2.7.16 for the period 2.7to 7.9. The car rental was prepaid for $228.71 through Auto Europe. We added FULL INSURANCE COVERAGE for 470 euros, which was charged to our visa card. We also added an additional driver for 35 euro.
On July 4, we were visiting friends in Pimelles, France, the former Charges d’Affaires for the American Embassy in Iceland, when the keys of the rented vehicle got automatically locked into the trunk of the vehicle when my husband closed the vehicle trunk door before going biking. WE WERE NOT INFORMED NOR COULD WE HAVE KNOWN THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD THIS SELF-LOCKING FEATURE.
On July 4, we called Hertz and requested to have a second key sent to the house where we were staying. WE WERE INFORMED AND HERTZ ASSERTED FOR MANY TIMES THIS COULD BE NOT BE DONE. Therefore, WE WERE TOLD TO HAVE THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER TO COME OUT TO TRY TO GET INTO THE CAR. He was unsuccessful.
On July 5, we called to see what we could do and how to exchange the car. We were informed by this Hertz agent that A SECOND KEY COULD KEY COULD BE SENT, but since it was after 5pm, it would not arrive until Thursday, July 7. We could not wait that long, because we had scheduled business meetings in Zurich and Munich.
On July 6, therefore, OUR LOCKED VEHICLE was towed to Auxerre France, and our friends drove us there to pick up a new vehicle so we could continue our journey. Also at the Auxerre rental office, WE EXTENDED OUR RENTAL CONTRACT TO JULY 11 BASED ON THE TERMS OF THE OUR ORIGINAL CONTRACT. Our original rental contract and a high end sports bag with 2 pairs of expensive sunglasses and sports clothes remained in the first rental vehicle. THE HERTZ AGENT TOLD US THAT WE WOULD BE ABLE TO PICK UP OUR BELONGINGS WHEN WE RETURNED THE SECOND VEHICLE IN PARIS, GARE DU NORD.
On July 11, we returned the second vehicle in the evening at Paris Gare du Nord. We were told when we returned the car that we owed 1556.71 euros. WE ASKED FOR A COPY OF OUR RENTAL CONTRACT (since our original contract was locked inside the first vehicle) and the AGENT SAID THEY COULD NOT SHOW US THE COPY because it had been sent to the warehouse. Also, he said he could not show us a copy of the contract on the computer. We asked for a copy of the full insurance coverage that we paid for. The agent could not give us a copy of that either.
We stayed for 4 hours TO SETTLE THE BILL. From our calculations, we should have only owed money for the full auto insurance coverage at 470 euros for 2.7-7.9, extra 2 day rental, 10.7 and 11.7, and extra insurance money for those 2 days, and extra money for the fuel for the second car and the VAT on this total amount. The value of the stuff that was not returned to us should be subtracted from this amount. We asked the agent to have the Hertz manager call us to resolve THE BILL. He/she NEVER DID AND HERTZ CHARGED THE UNAUTHORIZED AMOUNT OF 1557.51 EURO TO OUR VISA, WITHOUT OUR APPROVAL AND AUTHORIZATION.
Our calculation is: 470 euros for full car rental insurance 2.7-9.7
35 euros for additional driver
84.26 euros for 2 extra days 10.7 and 11.7 (42.13 x 2)
134 euros for 2 extra days of Full Auto Insurance (470 /7=67euro per day x 2days)
___________
723.26 euros + Vat on this amount.
Minus 518 euros for our things not returned to us
Problem #1: The solution to the key problem was not immediately provided by Hertz until the second day, which led to all the tow truck charges, which should have been covered under full insurance policy. If we had had the key sent to us on Tuesday, when we first called, all these problems and extra charges could have been avoided. Hertz misrepresented what they could do for us and therefore caused the extra tow charges. Therefore, WE WILL NOT AGREE TO THESE MISCHARGES.

Problem #2: We shouldn’t be charged for gas of first vehicle or fuel service charge or location surcharge since the car could not be unlocked. This was a malfunction of the vehicle, not us. None of this cost would have been incurred if the second key had been offered to us on the day of our first call. WE WILL NOT AGREE TO THESE MISCHARGES.
Problem #3: Our stuff was never returned to us when we returned second vehicle to Paris Gare du Nord on 11.7. We informed Hertz on the day that the vehicle was towed that our things were still locked in the car. We were told we would be able to retrieve our things when we returned to Paris Gare du Nord. We should receive a credit for the stuff that was never returned to us. The fashionable nike sports bag, two pair of Ray Ban sunglasses and sport clothes were worth $570. WE WANT OUR STUFF BACK OR PAY US THE AMOUNT OF USD 570.
Problem #4: Because original contract was locked in first vehicle and Hertz was unable to provide a copy of the contract and full insurance policy when we were trying to pay bill on 11.7, there was no way to solve the bill. We stayed at the rental office for 4 hours trying to reach an agreement on payment with the Hertz agent. Hertz never contacted us to discuss the bill as we requested when we delivered vehicle on 11.7 .When Valitor, our visa provider, requested documents from Hertz to validate the charge of 1556.71 euros, Hertz did not provide these documents within the legal time frame. Therefore, Valitor IS GOING TO (has not yet as of this date 3.11) back charge the UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES to you, when the case is closed on Monday November 7. Your email of 31.10. 2016 again misrepresented the facts and stated that the BACK CHARGE HAD ALREADY OCCURRED. THE NOTICE IN Jeremy’s Monnel ‘s email stated “We have received a charge back against your Credit Card and the invoice now remains outstanding.” THIS IS POOR CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY AND CARE FOR CUSTOMERS.
Therefore, because of all the inconvenience and suffering that this ongoing wrong billing has caused us and the fact that our stuff was never returned to us when we returned THE SECOND VEHICLE to the original rental office at Paris Gare du Nord on 11.7, we feel HERTZ SHOULD RETURN OUR STUFF AND USE THE CONTRACTS TO SETTLE THE RENTAL COSTS AND EXPENSES.
We would like to settle the case based on the logic provided here. It had been a difficult and horrible experience. We feel aggravated and wronged by Hertz.
Please assign a case officer in Hertz for us to talk with us and resolve this bill amicably and fairly.

KC and Judy Tran

Hertz the left me stranded in the middle of nowhere

My rental car got a flat tire right beside an abandon building in Philadelphia so I called Hertz' customer service line. The guy on the phone assured me that a tow truck is on the way to get me in 16 minutes. I wasn't angry or worried then because I thought help was on the way. 20 minutes passed and I got a call from AAA (a tow truck company) telling me that there is a delay and they would be there in 20 minutes. 40 minutes went by and no call or car came. I got really hungry and called AAA back. I got an automated answering machine that said "unfortunately no agent is available to assist you at the moment." I figured they would call me when they arrive so I went to grab McDonald's which was only 3 minutes away. I came out and the car was gone. It was pouring rain then and it was dark. I was shaking with fear when I came out and the car was missing.I had noone to call because I was on vacation. I was in tears! I called Hertz back. Apparently the tow truck guy just came and picked up the car. He didn't care if the person driving the car was dead or alive. The guy told me to call the cab and get to the airport. All my stuff would be there. I got there and had to wait 40 minutes because there was a lot of people needing a car then and they were short staff. I waited patiently because I didn't want to cut people off. I got to the line and gave the guy the key of the car and asked him "how could you guys abandon a woman in the middle of nowhere like that?" He said it wasn't him that was on the phone with and that he'd get the manager. The manager came and got me a new car and he told me he'd get someone to take me to the other section of the rental area where my previous car was so that I could get my stuff. When we got there the guy at the gate said everything is closed and that I have to get my stuff the day after. The guy that took me there told me that the manager had said that to him. I told him I wanted my stuff then. All these happened at 5 :30 and it took them 5 hour to tell me that can't get my stuff? Why would your manager send me there then? The guy asked me why I was shouting at him? I said "because you work for the company. " That's when he told me he doesn't work for the company. He called me a stupid b###h. His exact words were "reverse your car you stupid b###h. I'll beat the crap out of you and run you over with my car"

My question now is, are you allowed to say that to a person? Why would a manager of a company send a guy who isn't working for his company to help a customer? I did not curse at him even once.

Hertz car rental while getting car fixed. 100% state farm coverage

We gave the herts company three hours notice to have me picked up at the auto repair company while leaving my car two weeks for repairs after being hit. At this point I was very late to work waiting to be picked up then to have to sit in the car with three others then had to wait in line for him to get me a car at the red lion inn Bellevue. His name is Tony. I was talked in to paying for an extra insurance pack I did not need or want especially because I was convered by my own. All was being paid for through their State Farm policy. Well my mortgage bounced due to being charge $735. For extra insurance I did not want and could never afford! No warning no approval and no receipt! I was rushed to give my card and drivers license and told it was an extra $35. I called and they take no credit for any of it. Just rude and Blaming me! I am reading the same story over and over on your complaint forum! No one seems to have been quite as screwed as me in the amount of money yet. I plan on fighting with my bank to go after herts and tony for telling lies if not figured out! I am a divorced single mom of two kids! And just needed a car to bring them to school! Fully covered by State Farm! Why in the hell would I agree to pay $735. When I have high coverage insurance! This is a scam! Theives! Also I was told I left it with no gas! I left it full! Even if I was to agree to $35. A day extra insurance it would be $490 for two weeks not $735!

Hertz unethical behavior

On 11/6/16 we arrived at the Hertz Rental desk in Kona Hawaii. We were extremely tired when we met with the front desk attendant. Our rental automobile was prepaid through our vacation planner as part of our package deal. Not knowing this before I got to the front desk, I was told that the papers that I was signing were for the purchase of the rental car. I was informed that insurance was part of what I was signing. However, we did not understand that the amount that I was signing was for, would become $520.07 in car insurance on top of the prepaid amount that included insurance. At no time was I informed that I was purchasing the highest amount of Additional Insurance and road side service. The list of insurances was not broken down for me by the woman at the front desk, and if so, I certainly would have not purchased $502.07 in additional insurance for a VERSA. It was my understanding that I was signing the contract for the purchase of the rental and not agreeing to $502.07 in additional insurance. So after speaking with my travel agent/planner, I was informed that I had already paid for the car two months before. She advised me to talk to the desk clerk at Hertz upon returning the car. When I returned the car, I went in and spoke with a manager there. The man who was a manager, informed me that upon check in the woman should have broken down/disclosed what I was paying for and that she had made a mistake. He also was shocked that I had paid for the highest amount of additional insurance. He told me that I would need to fill out a complaint and go through the proper channels as they were union. So, the car was prepaid, which I was not informed by the Hertz front desk upon check in. I was then pushed through to sign a contract for the additional insurance that was not needed. I have reached out to customer service via phone and was informed that 20% could be returned to me. The agent for Hertz on the phone was not understanding and I honestly feel that I needed to speak with someone else. She wanted to inform met that she had the same powers as her managers and that speaking to one of them would be a waste of my time.

Please let it be known that the manager upon return of the car agreed with me about the agent not informing me of what I was signing was not ok. He also agreed that she should have informed me that the car was paid in full already.
