Hertz insurance added, no consent

My parents do not speak any English, they are visiting from Europe and I made a custom made reservation for them adding the insurance package we were after. Before going to the pick up location they printed out the booking and I instructed them to not to consent to any additional fees a part of the deposit. Upon the counter, the clerk did try to up-sell the additional insurance they were not interested in. Nevertheless, without their consent magically a contract with all possible insurance packages has been presented to them and pushed to sign. They were confused with the end price on the contract, and when tried to push back on this a word Deposit was repeatedly used. This situation has caused loads of stress to my parents and upon the clerk's pressure they signed the paperwork as they wanted to leave, the queue with other waiting people in the meantime has been building up. They picked up the car confused, without an understanding as to what had happened. It turns pout that upon the drop location additional $280 was added to the bill by the initial clerk who did never receive the consent by them (They do not speak English, so clearly it is impossible to receive it, right?). Additional pressure sales techniques have been represented by the your clerks who manipulated the contract to benefit from commission up sell.
I am a gold Hertz member through my corporate scheme, and I know your selling techniques upon the counter, this is why I sent my parents with a print out to receive only what they have asked for. The print out was shown to the clerk. As stated above, the representative committed a fraud, faking statements suggesting some sort of additional deposit fees.
What is more frustrating and disappointing with your company, is your branch manager's behaviour when following up on this case. I just got off the phone with Justin H. from this location who over 40 minutes conversation has been changing statements supporting his employee, even though Justin was not present upon the transaction time. He kindly explained me the official Hertz process, which was not obeyed by the other clerk who added insurance add-ons to the extreme level without receiving consent in English. Justin however claims that everything is fine, and his employees apparently do follow the procedure. For some reason he cannot understand that on this occasion this has not been done. Luckily enough I recorded my another unfortunate experience with your brand representative and if a need be will used in the court.
I am extremely upset with your branch's approach and trying to cover up the fraud or process miss-use. I do not understand how can you receive consent in English from someone who does not speak English and presents you what they want. I thought Hertz trains their employees with ethics behind your sales techniques? Clearly something went wrong there and I do not agree to some kind racist/abusive/fraudulent process which takes advantage of people who travel around the world and not speaking the local language. This is very sensitive situation and I would appreciate if someone could get bakc to me on this, as I am already seeking legal support for this case and expecting a full refund for incorrectly up-sold insurances that no one has given consent for.
Also, stressing out my parents and pushing them to sign something using word "Deposit" worries me a lot. They left your location stressed out and felt they were pushed to sign something just to leave, as they did not know what to do next. When they shared with me their experience I thought I would explode and immediately escalated it to your branch. It has been over 4 days since then I upon my follow up the branch manager Justin H. acts like everything has been just fine?

Hertz not returning deposit

I was stupid enough to rent a car from Hertz. I did priceline to attempt to save a few bucks on car rental...unfortunately the company was Hertz. I have rented 3 times from Hertz and had at least 3 failures each time. Other rentals many years ago.

I get to the desk, 2 agents, only me waiting in line. One carefully tries to look busy, other discusses on phone with friends which bar to go to after work. Phone rings several times other agent sits on their butt, mine won't even look up to make eye contact. The bar situation is more important. After about 15 min I start to get on my phone to the 800 Hertz number so she stops. Can't seem to find reservation, so tries to rent me a car. I open my bags get my reservation, then she tells me I must upgrade 3 kids and a short mom can't possibly with carry on only in a mid-sized car. Of course she could only find a Toyota Corolla or an SUV or luxury car, so I am put in the Corolla as I refuse to pay to upgrade. Then she said since I would not upgrade she has to charge a $50 deposit, but charges $200, but assures me I will immediately get the money back on the 27th when I return the car. That's 10 days now and no refund. I have called the midway Hertz many times no answer, doesn't suprise me, talking on cell phone instead of working and painting fingernails is more important than work. So they steal money from inocent people. I have called corporate, the local Hertz all to no avail. I facebook negative comments on their page...several have promissed to fax/email my bank, but none have...I called Priceline, they got on the phone with Hertz...Hertz has promised to look into it in the next 10 business days, and advised me that it may take 5 to 10days for the banks to process after they finish their investigation. Looks on this site that deposits are not really refunded...just stolen from customers.

Hertz misleading information

Hertz gave me the option of returning the car empty and be charged for a full tank of gas, or returning the car gas tank "full" and be charged nothing for gas. I returned the car with a full tank and told the hertz attendant. When I reviewed my charges the next day, I saw that I had been charged for a full tank of gas — which they call a fpo charge. I guess this is a standard misleading policy as hertz has a specific "gas issue" number to push when calling the hertz gold customer service number. And the hertz representative (Shanique in oklahoma city) was anything but polite. My wife and I have been hertz gold club members for many years using our platinum american express card for all hertz charges. We will never use hertz again.

I will never do business with Hertz again because after you returned the car you will get Hurts of hidden charges. We rented a car at Norfolk international airport last August 27, 2014. We told the guy who helping us that we don't need upgrade and we won't get insurance but to our surprise is the opposite way. They charging us $439 for the upgrade and insurance that in the first place we declined to have it.

When you rent the car, you would have signed the contract saying that they will fill the tank OR you will fill the tank. If you signed that they will then I find it that you are saying that you will never use HERTZ again because you did not read what you signed when you rented the car?
In addition, any time I have had a problem with my Hertz bill, they are always happy to go over it with me to fix the problem.

Hertz charged for preexisting damage

We rented a car in Grand Caymans for two weeks. No incident. Returned the car as received. Agent said there was a dent in the roof. I could barely see it. We had no incident, no scratches. We were charged $250 for repair. Later they said they would repair it after the season. I seriously think this is a skam and how many others have been charged. I checked with Hertz and they have no record of repair. If this was not repaired. I feel I should have my $250 reimbursed. This does not speak well for Hertz rental philosophy.

The same thing happened to us with Dollar/Thrifty. It looks like Cayman car rental has started their version of an airline baggage fee.

If you get into a car accident and the other person pays you for the repairs, You are NOT under any obligation to get the car fixed. The money is yours to use as you wish.
The same is true if they choose NOT to fix the car. It would make more sense for them to not fix it as they have a large turnover in cars. They will not even have that car in 2 years.

Honestly, it is not your concern what they do with the money. That's like saying they did not make a car payment with the rental money you paid.

Hertz extra charges on credit card

I rented a car in June 2014 for the amount of Euro 233 in Venice Italy and my credit card was charged together with Euro 80 which was the damage excess refund amount. I now have been charged on my other credit card twice on 23 July 2014 for the amount of euro 42.70 (twice) I have no idea what this amount is for and why it was charged one month later. The car was returned without any damage. I would like an explanation / reimbursement for the above Euro 85.40 as there was no agreement / authorization for this figure.
Could you please advise if the euro 80 is also reimbursable if there is no damage to the car?
I am sending relevant credit card statements and car rental documents for your easy reference.

The same happened with me and some more. I rented a car from Hertz in Milan for 4 days during the first half of July 2014. I was robbed by a thief on a motorcycle who pierced one of the tires and due to this, another car slightly hitted mine. When I gave back the car to Hertz, I was charged for the tire and the damage as it turned out I did not have full coverage although I understood from the employee who rented it to me that I had full coverage. My mistake was that the Hertz employee talked with me in English. I may have better understood if she talked Italian or Chinese.
After that, I started receiving charges on my credit card. The first one came for 56$ on october 2014, and then another 2 weeks later. I id not know who to talk about these charges and complained to my bank. The third charge came 2 days ago for a similar amount but it was not accepted. I hope by now they will stop trying to charge me. I suspect it is a hoax as a respectable company like Hertz would not do such a thing. But maybe I am wrong and Hertz Italy is a special case.

Hertz collision / liability coverage

I rental a van from 7-12-14 to 7-19-14 from hertz conf #g2351488e6. the agent that completed the rental (over the telephone) was linda #681. I rented with my aaa visa that does have collision/liability waiver coverage. the is a enhanced upgrade. linda explained that if I declined the hertz liability coverage my credit card would be blocked in the amount of $1250.

When I arrived at the owen roberts airport hertz area, the agent asked who was supplying the liability coverage for the rental. I showed him my aaa visa card and he stated "aaa does not cover auto liability here"I tried to explain that my visa has all the upgrades for the coverage (he did not care) told me we must take the coverage, never mentioned about blocking my card for the previous $1250 mentioned prior. I was standing with my seven family members and did not think this was the time to debate this issue.

After returning home, I checked with my visa card and they verified that my card does cover collision and liability even when the car is in the garage being repaired, called "down time".

I am asking for the additional charges for the liability and collision be returned to my card.

I can supply my insurance declaration for proof of coverage along with my hertz contract. what is the best contact source to supply that information.

Booked a Hertz rental and the rate quoted was lower than they actually charged. Personnel at the rental agency was rude and the "customer service specialist" from Hertz that contacted me was totally unwilling to help. Won't use Hertz again.

Hertz incorrect charging

Hello, here is Andre from Brazil. I was charged on my credit card statment for a EU 268, 36 bill that I did not make. This supposed charge was done in Rome on the 27th of May (2014). I hired a car from the 21st until the 25th to drive around Toscany with my wife returning the car in Florence. That is, I have never driven in Rome and they are charging a bill made in Rome. I wonder if it is HERTZ doing fraud or someone else.

Just recieved a letter in Italian stating that we have recieved a "Verbal Fine on Line", in the sum of 36.00 EUR.
There was no documentation as to what this fine is about, and from reading other postings, it appears to be a scam.

I have been charged for an unexpected fee of 36 euro, january 11.2011, This is 5 months after I was hiring a car on Sardinia. I can see that others have had the same experience. I want this amount to be paid back to my account. I have not been informed about this fee or agreed in paying it.

just got two of the same billings from Hertz, with a notification time on the same day, 4 hours apart from eachother. Did you ever got the fine that was announced? They will charge it from my creditcard, did you fight the bill from Hertz?

Hertz bad services and products as well as rude agent

I was upset with the quality of services of the website www.theninehertz.com. I spoke with the agent and he promised to provide the best web services. But their services and products are crap. After several days I already needed their help, but they refused to provide it and told to wait. The agent was rude and was really annoyed with me calls. He told me a lot of unpleasant words and I was shocked. Please, post your comments and share your views about this company.

Hertz overcharges

We rented a car on a Thursday and were scheduled to pick the car up at 4:00. Went to pick the car up and no one in the office. We waited 20 minutes and left. Finally reached them on the phone and they said that they had to pick up a car and were back at the office. Returned to pick up the car and had to wait again for them to return from picking up a car. Got the car and everything was fine until we were on the return from our trip from Texas and noticed a bulge in the right front passenger tire. We had hit nothing and had driven 95% highway miles. We called Hertz who directed us to the Texasarkana airport in Arkansas. We made it to the Hertz hub at the airport and as we were pulling into the parking lot the tire blew, again we were going less than 10 miles an hour and coasted into a parking spot so no damage to the car! We were told that it was a normal wear and tear and that we would not incur any additional charges! We exchanged cars and were on our way. When we returned to Columbus they took care of the return told us they would charge us 120.00 in addition to what we were charged in Texasarkana when we had to get a different car which was a total of the original agreement. A week later they charged our bank card 3 times the agreed rental price without a phone call or any explanation. We have called and tried to be reasonable but they refuse to work with us stating that the tire is an extension of the car and therefore damages we are responsible for since we elected to lower our personal deductible and increase our personal coverage of our own insurance to cover damages to the rental rather than take their insurance The charges for the tire contradicts the wording on the back of their contract as to damages related to tires. A very unprofessional company!

Hertz reserved car not available

As a Gold member I reserved a full-sized car. When I arrived I was told I was down-sized to a compact for the same cost as a full-sized car.. There was at least two dozen cars in the airport rental lot parked in front of Hertz signs. Only one was a compact, the one I was offered. I went to National and rented a car. Hertz will no longer be my first, second, or third choice when renting.

Hertz employee mistreatment

Several of the things occurring at the hertz dfw location should not occur. Here are some of the items that have occurred.
*supervisors customarily interrupt our lunch to scream at employees. There is no duty free lunch.
*supervisors have now told employees that they must ask permission to go to the bathroom and then they deny them going to the bathroom.
*supervisors have told employees that they must ask permission to take lunch, then attack employees during their (Unpaid) lunch.
*some employee injuries are not reported. Neither administrative nor first aid support is offered to at least one employee that I witnessed was injured (Employee gashed his leg on a car door).

*supervisor darryl hopkins opened the door of a running vehicle to scream at me. This put himself, myself, and hertz in danger.
*when bob is supervising, he screams at employees, has favorites, and mistreats others.
-*most of the supervisors smoke throughout the day. This puts us, the employees, in danger by submitting us to being captive to non-stop second-hand smoke.
-*cigarettes are a stimulant drug. There is a high probability that their constant smoking is the main cause of their high-strung disposition and constant screaming.

Please take action to ensure that this situation can be resolved peaceably and effectively. I believe that hertz dfw can run more productively with the demonstration of mutual respect among supervisors/leads and their subordinates.

Hertz cancellation fee mischarge

My name is Mehmet Kaldirim. I have made a car reservation on internet due March 7th with the reference code G13711209E5 for the date March 8th Saturday from 09:00-23:30.

On March 8th Saturday at 09:00 i was ready at the Milan Centrale Hertz office. But we couldn't rent the car because i was asked the international driver license. After that we thanked the lady helped us at the desk and asked her to cancel the reservation in order not to pay no-cancellation fee.

However now i see in my credit card balance that on March 11th i have been invoiced 65 EUR due to no-cancellation of that reservation. But this is not correct and i should not pay no-cancellation fee since i was ready at 09:00 Milan Centrale Hertz office. I think this problem is arising because the lady at the desk did not cancel the reservation from the system when we asked her to cancel.

I ask this no-cancellation fee to be refunded to my same credit card account.

Hertz charges

Good evening,

We booked a car through rentalcars.com and the car given as a ford focus and the car provider was hertz. The car was used from 28th mrch till the 31st march. We paid immediately online when we booked. Unfortunately although we filled up the tank with diesel prior to giving the car back we were charged euro 127.36 and when I called hertz in italy they said that it was related to missing diesel in the tank.
This is not true since we filled it up from a pumping station close to the port so we used just a bit of diesel and surely not worth euro 127.36.
When we took the car back to the hertz office at the port of pozzallo the office was closed and we left the keys in the letter box so w could not get anything in writing from them stating that the tank was full.
This is so unjust.
Hope to get the issue solved

Dispute the charge. And, if your card company sides with Rentalcars.com don't pay it just to make it go away. Why would you pay something you do not owe?

Hertz $2,036 overcharge

Our son didn’t do the right thing and returned his car (on
time – no damages) at a different Hertz facility 65 miles away from where he
should have (Rental #[protected]).
Hertz provided him no receipt – stated everything was okay –
and then took an additional $2, 036 out of his credit card account with no word
or warning.

The details are in our BBB complaint - Case # [protected]
(we also filed with the FTC) but the gist of this is:

1)
No receipt, communication or indication there
was an issue – had our son been informed he would have taken the car back to
the right facility
2)
If the same stunt is pulled on a 1 day rental
for the 2 facilities involved, the overcharge is about $100 – not $2, 036 –
Hertz essentially raised his rate big time because he had a 2-month rental

3)
None of this is in the rental contract, web
site, emails, FAQs or any communications that Hertz provides when renting a car

4)
The bill submitted by Hertz (when we forced this
through a bank action) appears doctored, does not align to the rental contract,
and provides no indication that charges were changed due to the drop-off
location (despite the fact that their web site claims “transparency” for
additional charges between estimates and actuals on rentals)

5)
His copy of the estimate (although we are not
disputing what was estimated) has a forged signature on it

Our claim is that this vendor
is operating in a highly dishonest manner and hiding audit trails of their
billing practices. The BBB has them with an F+ rating, another consumer agency
has them flagged as “consumers warned not to do business with”.

At minimum, we would hope you
would warn other travelers or at least discourage them from longer term rentals
as that appears to magnify their dishonest billing practices. In addition,
corporate travel agencies and businesses that use Hertz may want to examine for
inflated billings and charges – the amounts may be significant. Having
personally traveled for decades in my business using all kinds of car rental
agencies to get around, we were extremely appalled not only at this deceptive
practice, but the total lack of response and treatment for a customer that
rented a car in good faith for a an extended period and then had that used
against them to vastly inflate rental charges.

We can provide copies of
Hertz estimate, actual bill showing fraudulent charges if needed.

Hertz fired local rental manager

I am a Presidents club member and have rented from this location for about 4 years. I the manager (Steven) was always friendly and always greeted me by name. He is a young man in his 30'S? with young children. When I went in to say hello on Friday they said the district manager just fired him for not meeting sales goals. Well I have run into this prima donna before and he has about as much personality as a rock. I called and left a message for him and said I would be dropping Hertz and he could say good by to over $10, 000 a year in business from my company.

Oh, brother..."President's Club" hahahahahaha ... like you are really in a position to cost Hertz more business than your occasional trip over 50 miles because your hoopty won't make it. You're a complete nobody, "Wayne Trigg, " and Hertz doesn't make personnel decisions based on your uninformed opinions.

It's the policy of Hertz, apparently to insist on sales "goals." At least that 's what I have heard of late. Myself, I stopped renting from Hertz a few years ago after they treated my youngest son coming home on leave from Iraq like dirt. Avis treated him very well and we have been with Avis ever since. Try Avis.

Hertz thieves

I rented a car for one day in Germany, Frankfurt Hahn. I booked the car in Internet for early morning at 4 AM, but in office was no one. I waited 3 hours, very tired, was cold, when I got the car, I saw tiny scratch. I took photo just in case. When I went to home, week later Hertz got form my credit card 200€ and one week later got letter, where was wrote that I must to cost 460 more.
I was shocked! Wrote to Hertz and sent photos, but they don't answer! Called to Hertz, but they ignore me. Every month send me letters with bill. Already I try to back my 200€ five month. it's useless :(

Hertz admin fees for car fines

In early january my visa statement showed hertz italiana spa roma charged me €341. I rang visa and had payment reimbursed as no explanation or authority from me (Visa did write to state that if payment was legitimate they would re-instate the debit)
On 14th feb hertz italiana spa roma sent me 8 letters each for 42.70 'admin fee' for alleged traffic violations - some of which separated by minutes (E. G. 14/08/2013 17:19, 14/08/2013 17:28, 14/08/2013 17:42).
I am horrified - how could I 1) incur so many traffic violations and 2) how could hertz's system be allowed to charge as tey have.
Hertz claim they have 'sustained' this cost which utter [censored] - its a system generated revenue generator.
See you in court hertz - I have been renting cars for 20 years and never seen such a rip off attempt.

I got the same… Car was rented in Pisa in September 2014, and the 42, 70 EUR charge was already taken 2 times (January, February 2015)… If this keeps repeating I will have to block the card. But this is something fishy… Someone knows the adress of the HERTZ Italia to clarify what is going on?

Hertz Italiana Spa Roma made a 42.70euro charge on my visa card and I dont know what it is for. We paid account in full on 3.1.14. This charge is dated 23.4.14. What is going on. How can I get it reversed?

On January 3rd 2014 Hertz Italiana Spa Roma has charged me for EUR 42.70 (Nota nr. 45829). I sent my first complaint about this in the middle of January, but I have not not heard a single word or argument from you. More than half a year ago I payed you the total sum for renting a car in september in Treviso Airport. I have made no traffic offenses with your car, since I have not had any fine or complaints from the Italian police. So what is the sum EUR 42.70 for?

Hertz bait and switch tactics

Stay away from hertz! We rented from hertz because their website was the only one that claimed you could rent "this exact model" and due to the number of people on our trip, we needed a specific sized car. Upon arriving at the rental desk, we were detained for more than an hour while one of their employees strolled around the rental lot looking for a car for us. We were astonished they had no list of the cars available and kept us waiting that long.in the end, they brought up a much smaller car. It became clear after we left that is was indeed a smokers car and one of our riders had to ride with a carryon bag in their lap the entire time due to the small trunk. We smelled of cigarettes each time we emerged from the car. It was clear they had sprayed something in the car to neutralize the smell long enough for us to leave the airport. Upon returning, I called hertz about the bait and switch tactic and was told manager todd plancon would be calling me back. It has been almost 2 weeks and no call. Mr. Plancon must not be concerned about his companies failures or is on the verge of retiring and simply doesn't care. When I called back today, it was another huge runaround and no accountability. We will not ever rent from hertz again at this point due to their irresponsible methods of doing business and their failure to provide what was promised and follow through at any level.

Received a letter on 12/24/13 which was dated 12/13/2013 that there was a $.30 toll violation in Illinois. My EZ Pass bill shows multiple toll transactions while driving there yet this one was not paid and they are now charging me a $17.00 Administrative fee. A call to the Illinois Tollway office could not find a violation against the vehicle I was driving.

Hertz misrepresentation of rental agreement

Good Day
I went to the Hertz location in Palm Beach, Fl. to pick up my mid-sized car only to find they did not have one. The agent explained since I am a "GOLD MEMBER" that I was being upgraded to a mini-van. I explained that I have a 7 hr drive and a mini-van was not acceptable. I viewed the parking lot and found a 4 dr Toyota. I asked if could have that one and she said it was already rented. I asked her to explain how that person can get the car they requested but I can't. She could not. I told her the Gold Member status was truly a joke. Do not be fooled by that classification. The previous Hertz rental I had which had all kind of mechanical issues and when I got to the drop off destination and explained the issues they immediately rented it to a customer because they had no other cars. The time before that the aux power plug did not work for your phone charger and he was explaining to me how to try and locate the fuse while I was on the road. These cars are not being inspected properly and are being leased out with the same issues. My company likes renting from Hertz but I am hoping with all the complaints they are getting they will change.

Hertz hertz charges

I have just received a charge to my debit card of EUR -43, 00 plus a second charge for the same amount the same day 27.11.13. . There is no explanation for this charges. The car was returned in Rome, Italy on August 5, 2013. I have a feeling this a scam and feel unprotected.
Please help me to find out the reason for this charges and obtain the corresponding credit
