H-E-B coupon not honored / verbally abused and harassed / service refused

Names of persons who refused service and verbally abused and harassed your customer:

Lee adam bowman
Lead vic 3 092

Derek mic

Date: 1/11/16

Manager/employee writes raincheck for item on the back of a yellow coupon because the item was out of stock and not available.

This situation is also an ongoing problem where items on sale are not available during the sale.

Date of harassment: 1/26/16

While attempting to purchase the item, the yellow coupon is refused, claiming it's expired, and that no employee had written the rain check information on the back of it.

After telling them they were mistaken, another manager in charge was called, who also refused to honor the coupon and let the item be purchased for the sale price.

This mic also proceeds to verbally attack me by repeatedly asking "why I always do this."

Assuming his question was in regards to the use of the yellow coupons, the response he's given was "there would be no problem if he would simply honor what another employee had written on the back of it."

Next he says the coupon is not what he's talking about, and proceeds to verbally attack and harass by complaining about the way one always enters the store at 12:30 am (when it closes at 1am).

At this point one also understands the issue at hand involves some kind of an ongoing grudge that this manager holds with his not wishing to assist customers because he wants to leave the store precisely at closing time.

An attempt is then made to purchase the 5 items that were sitting on the counter and had already been scanned, but both the manager and the employee named lee bowman refused to allow the purchase of them and insisted that I leave the store.

At approximately 8am (on tuesday 1/26/16)

A complaint was also filed with the store manager (named joe), but when an attempt was made to file a formal written complaint against these 2 men, he said only complaints by telephone are accepted.

When asked for the contact information of the regional manager (email address/phone no. Etc), was also told that kind of information was not made available.

Since this situation with items on the yellow cupons being out of stock or not available during the sale period is an ongoing problem that keeps resulting in verbal abuse and harassment like this, please do something to see that the items for sale are made available during the sale period.

Please also see that the employee and the mic who refused service and verbally abused and harassed your customer never do so again.

Thank you

H-E-B overcharged on vegetables

I am so sick of heb overcharging. Yesterday went to get a couple of red peppers on sale at 52 cents each, got two peppers, charged $2.04. I told the cashier she'd overcharged me and she said she would change it which she did but then voided that and so I still paid the $2.04. Guess I should have checked before leaving so now I am out of pocket a dollar. Very annoying when I really wanted the orange peppers but they were a bit more expensive. Should have just bought those I guess.

H-E-B I had to go to 3 different heb's to purchase visa gift cards

The credit union I work for purchases over $10,000.00 in heb gift cards for our loyal members every year. We are loyal customers of H.E.B. The problem I had at store on mcpherson and del mar I was told by cashier I could not purchased visa gift cards with a company check, credit card, or debit card only with cash, I told them I would go to the office get cash but go to the h. E. B. That is closer to our office. At the store on san dario and calton I had cash and was in line, when I get to the cashier she asks if with credit card or cash and I said cash. She then gets on the phone and calls someone to find out how many visa cards I can buy. She then tells me she can only sell me 10 cards and I have 14 cards. I then tell her okay I will pay for 10 and then I will get in line with an other cashier and pay for the rest. I then get in line with another cashier by this time a supervisor comes up to me and tells me he cannot sell me the other 4 visa cards. I then tell him this morning at the other H.E.B. I was told they would only accept cash, now you tell me you won't sell them to me with cash. He said it is policy we can only sell you 10 per day. This problem could be avoided only if heb really cared about it's loyal customers. First heb needs to place a sign in the gift card rack telling customers they can only use cash to purchase gift cards or will be wasting time in line. 2nd place a sign in the same area telling customers you are only allowed to buy 10 per day. I told this to the supervisor he had no answer I told him I would email heb about this he answered if I wanted the phone number I said no emails are faster. I had to go to another heb on del mar and san dario to buy the other 4 cards on the same date. I was forced to go to 3 separate store, totally unacceptable. Very disappointed with service I give you a grade of f. I hope heb reads this and takes our concerns seriously. By the way this gift cards are for our employees.

H-E-B baked ridged multigrain chips - poor quality

I just opened the 4th bag of chips which I purchased at the O'Connor @ Nacogdoches store recently. Again I have a bag of crumbs. Chips smaller than a dime. When I began buying these chips at the beginning of the summer they were whole chips, almost full bags. Now I get half a bag at best of crumbs. I asked a store manager about it and he called it settling. Really now? They "settled" back in June but were whole. It's rap like this that pushes me more than ever to Walmart (since HEB managed to run every other grocery store in San Antonio out of town).

H-E-B texas tough double zipper sandwich bags

I am a loyal heb shopper and always will be, but I one simple complaint about one of their products that I have been purchasing. The texas tough double zipper bags in all sizes are impossible to "zip" closed. I have continued to buy them thinking the next box will be better, but they are not. My children complain of their lunches falling out of them and food being everywhere in the lunch boxes. Just wanted heb to be aware of this problem, so in future they can correct this small detail! Thank you for you time in this matter! Laurie mcneil

H-E-B employees not scanning products and overcharging

Heb has monopoly in most parts of texas due to which one is left with no option but to go to heb.in my last visit, I got a $12 loreal powder which was scanned twice and I had to pay $24 instead of $12. I just quickly scanned through the receipt and found the error when I reached home, and it was not pleasant to drive all the way back. But this becomes a trust issue. They did return the $12 back, but I do not like the fact that such mistakes are made and on a regular basis. There has been several occasions that I had to return to the store for being overcharged. Once before, I had got 5 avocados for 54 cents per avocado but was charged $1.98 per avocado which made the total $10 instead of $2.70, and it would have gone unnoticed had I not scanned my receipt properly. There is always a $5-10 over charge almost every 1 in 3 visits due to using incorrect codes or scanning twice.

H-E-B intrusive oversell at pump

I know it's so common when checking out to hear:

- do you want fries with that
- need stamps or ice
- have you logged your rewards program (so we can sell you over priced stuff and make you feel like your getting a deal).

Well now at the heb gas pumps you can't just insert your card to pay and pump. You now have to say no, no, no, no, no, no, no, well you get the point and then finally you get the privilege to give them money and buy gas.

The picture blew red circle shows the no button and green circle shows yes button. There's so many no's the cover on the button is about to wear out. There's an obvious crack and won't take long to expose the button.

Heb - take a clue from the actual customer base and stop with the up sell.in this day and age with technology there are easy ways to have your up sell option with out forcing the client to choose no just to buy gas.

Here's one customer who won't be purchasing gas whatever the price from heb. There are plenty of options where I don't have waste time saying no up sell and simply make the purchase.

Krogers does the same thing. Ridiculous prices on everything and you must use the Kroger card or you are totally ripped off. They want your personal information so they can have all of your personal information, track what you buy and probably your credit card number too. Talk about "big brother." And, btw, same goes for their pharmacy items. If you buy cootie medicine suppositories or rubbers there, the marketing department is well aware of it. What ever happened to HIPPA laws? How do you know they're following those laws? You don't. S@cker people just go along with this idiocy.

H-E-B rude employee and service

I have been a loyal customer of this location for many years. I usually come in once every week. I am submitting this because this is the second time within a year that I have encoutered a rude employee. The first time, I did contact the manager on duty later on during the day. She was the assistant manager and she was very polite and professional with me.
Today, 08/05/2015, around 10:00 am, I was waiting my turn in the checkout aisle that had the cigarette stand right above the cashier. When it was my turn, the cashier asked me what did I need since I did not have any items. I replied that I only need to purchase cigarettes. The cashier then tells me that I need to go to the csr stand that is several aisles down and the person that is standing there will help me. She then proceede to scan the items from the person standing behind me. I gestured to the cigarettes that was right behind her and above her head and said that you have those here. She ignored me and continued scanning the other persons items.
I have always purchased these items at these checkout aisles before. I walked out..
I am a front of the house manager for a very popular restaurant, within the area, I am always checking the reviews for positive and hopefully never negative reviews on yelp. Rudeness and refusing service whether with employees or guests is a big no-no..
Ho0efully, heb, will fix these issues.

H-E-B - bad manager to employees

I'm a regular customer for heb plus and I notice that your manager (belinda manley) at this store is being disrespectful to their employees I can hear her timing the cashiers and yelling at them that they are going too slow in front of us customers. I think as a manager you should respect their employees and should not be timing them. Because all you are...

H-E-B needs to be pulled from shelves

Everytime I buy the red mops from heb they always break and I always get sliced really bad im sure im not the only person this has happened to. Its dangerous and hazardous because not only because its metal I now have to go to the er for possible stitches and probly a tetnus shot. I just don't think these should be sold anymore and if so the handles need to be wooden like before or plastic since its safer also not safe for children to handle. I truly hope that someone takes the time to read this and have something done about this. Thank you very much n have a wonderful day

H-E-B don't stock product anylonger

Cookwell & co. Escabeche-style salsa - we fell in love with this salsa a few years back when you sold it in our heb here in schertz. The you stopped stocking it here in schertz. We were told that you carried it in your warehouse, so we had a case brought into our heb as a special that we drew off of for a couple of months, then the case disappeared. It costs us a fortune to ship this in from cookwell every month. Will you please restock this item at our heb in schertz? Thanks, steve schindler, 501 thurber dr., schertz, tx. [protected]

H-E-B employees

I wish the company had a no smoking policy on the premises. The company is always promoting health and fitness but they allow their employees to smoke by the entrance of the store. I dont understand how that is ok? For non-smokers with small children I just can't understand how management allows it. No one likes to inhale all that second hand smoke as you are walking in to the store. Feeling so annoyed!

H-E-B prices

Taylor tx is a small town. I only have one choice where to buy my groceries. I did buy at heb for many years before moving to taylor. Recently I have been quite disturbed at the enormous rise in prices for routine food items. A couple of years ago when they began to rise we were told it was due to the increasing cost of gasoline causing transportation to cost more. However, in the past few months gasoline prices have started going down. The cost of food continues to go up. Why? I am a senior on a modest fixed income, but do not qualify for food stamps, nor do I wish to use government handouts. I can no longer buy bacon and can seldom buy sausage. But it is everything. The store must hire a lot of extra people just to mark up prices. Every week I find these increases and it is not small ones. When an item is marked up it is usually 50 cents, at least 20 cents. Then at the check out counter the clerk is instructed to show me on my ticket how much money I have saved by shopping there. I hate lies. I hate deception. I don't know why heb is raising the prices so much every week, but I would appreciate not being told I saved money.

H-E-B Rude cashier

I went with my two children to heb on marbach rd.in san antonio, tx for groceries at night. During checkout I noticed that I forgot the drinks so I sent my son for the sodas. This was actually his first time there so he did not know where the sodas were located. As he was taking off to get the sodas the cashier then looks at my son and says, "you better hurry up cause I am almost done." my son and I just looked at her expecting her to laugh but we realized she was serious. She then said rudely, "you think i'm playing right?" wow, we just ignored her and I waited for my son to come back with the drinks. As she was done ringing up my groceries, my son arrived with two 3 liter sodas. I could tell the cashier, diana, was very bothered by this and she asked if I still wanted them. I said yes. She then looks at my son again and tells him with an evil look on her face, "you better not ever work at heb or you will be fired for this." my son was extremely embarrassed and hurt. He was at the point of crying. He is 17 and a senior in high school, he plans on going to college so he is not dumb as she suggested. I don't know what her problem was but she should not be working as a cashier if she does not have patience with the customers. We did not say anything back to her out of respect for the rest of the customers but I would like to express my complaints. Her name is diana and she is an older lady that looks very frail. I would like someone to have a talk with her about this situation.

I just come back from a hour and a half interview, for a part time checker. I am 53 years old 128 lbs. of hyperactivity, shop their since they built the store. Have experience in cashiering all my life, and she told me "she did not think I could handle the work load, and the job was for a part time I wanted full time, and was willing to take it and when they seen me work, then was hoping they would make me full time. That is a nice way to discriminate against people over 50. I will never shop h.e.b. again my 600.00 a month will go some where else. This is the one in Odessa Texas, today at five o-clock.

H-E-B refills

I spend hundreds of dollars per month trying to get our prescriptions filled and refilled at this pharmacy. I have two insurance plans, two pharmacy plans, medicare and blue cross/blue shield, yet 90% of the staff at this drugstore, including the pharmacists, are unable to read this and only file with one company, medicare, not the 2nd plan which covers whatever medicare does not cover. It's a fight everytime I try to pick up a prescription. They just say the insurance won't cover and I have to pay full price or use a generic which is just not true. It takes an average of 45 min. To get any script from them, they are not helpful and refuse to listen about the two ins. Plans. They just tell me to pay the full price because the ins.co. Will not cover it. This is even if it's a refill! This has been going on for years! I fully intend to find another pharmacy, as these people are too inept to continue dealing with. They just never learn from their mistakes and really don't care anyway. I had one pharmacist tell me he didn't care, he repeated it twice, "I don't care about your prescription!" I drove off and finally got it okayed at another pharmacy. The time and aggravation I have spend with lytle heb pharmacy is about to end. They just can't handle their business.

H-E-B heb customer courtesy

Rude customer service. Just today I was stopped first at self-service counter by their operator as she said I did not pay for cherries, I told I did but she checked anyway and then left without apolozing after she found them that I already paid fo it. Then again, at the exit gate, their door lady said where your receipt for these four items (cherries, blackberries and 2 more items that I did not put in the polythene bag as hate using polythene bags. I showed her the receipt but she did not say sorry either or thank you. Heb needs to train their personnel to be respectful of customers otherwise it won't take long for people to say here everything is bad.

H-E-B total loss of quality

Flashback: I moved to texas in 2000 from the east coast. I was immediately astounded by the incredible quality of goods and services at a texas, family-owned grocery chain... H-e-b. Having grown up with the likes of a&p, safeway, kroger and giant, I quickly discovered why those other chains, along with albertsons, just could not compete with h-e-b. These local folks knew what customer service was about and the entire philosophy of their business was keeping the customer happy and coming back.

Sadly, early this year, everything changed at our favorite h-e-b in temple. The store was gutted and re-arranged, the always friendly staff (everyone from manager down to bag boys) disappeared, the wonderful variety of goods was chopped to bare minimum and the h-e-b brands became the dominant goods in the store. As one employee put it, "we are now the poor man's h-e-b."

I consider myself more flexible in the face of change than most, but this change was philosophical just as much as it was physical. Gone are the self-check-out machines, gone are the nice red-shirted floor walkers who could find anything, gone are the intuitive shelf arrangements that support customers that really like to cook, gone are ingredients for creative cooking and gone are management that cares. If it were not for the checkers that smile and try to gloss over the failings of the store, the manager would spend entire days responding to complaints.

What was once an enjoyable experience - grocery shopping at h-e-b on 31st street is now an absolute nightmare. We are forced to live with “mcheb” or “obamafoods” or, in other words the “lowest common denominator grocery.” shoppers can now count on limited variety, no floor customer service, shelf arrangement that defies logic, over-priced meats, employees that have no authority to sell some things and a general lack of knowledge of what the store offers. Hmmmm…maybe that is because it doesn’t offer much.

Whether the change in operations at h-e-b on 31st street is a function of top-down absentee management, a new business model designed by a cold computer, or the manager is an idiot, does not really matter. Customer service and satisfaction at h-e-b is now a dinosaur.

The HEB meat department cuts the pork. I am certain that my HEB Butcher is retaining bone fragments & forcing them into meaty parts of the pork cuts. I'm finding bone fragments everywhere they should not be, Small triangular bone fragments are throughout the pork, as if a trichonosis hog was slaughtered. As I picked them out they were found to be triagular bone fragments.

I bought the Pork at HEB Bryan, Texas
