HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com lifetime member no longer getting benefits

Costumer # [protected]. Got me for big money to become Life time Member and then stopped sending magazine or any correspondence. All the customer phone numbers they provide on web site have been disconnected.Ya, I want my money back. I also get 'Family Handy Man' and have no problem with them. Executive Director Larry Okrend should be held accountable. I understand how people go postal, comes a point when we get tired of being taken advantage of. Come on, Somebody stand up for the little guy.

HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com - lack of magazine on lifetime membership

So it's been years since I saw a magazine connected to my lifetime membership. Additionally, no product testing. Why? When do you plan to honor the memberships that we all paid for? Is this the way you are doing business now. I paid now you need to provide. NOW!! From what I am reading on your own website, there are a lot of us that you have stolen money from. I expect an answer; and now.

HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com No magazine is received in the mail.

I have been a member for many years, but when I bought my lifetime membership I was getting the printed magazine in the mail. I had a car wreck in 2010 and after my hospitalization I contacted Handyman Club of America and they told me that the printed version is no longer available, that only the online version is available. I feel that I paid a premium for my membership which included the printed magazine please help me understand.

HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com lack of services

I've been a member forever, even have one of the Life Time membership leather jackets they used to offer. I haven't received one of their magazine in years. They deceive the public and should be closed down. They attempt to rip off people, I've been a member for over 20 years and have never received anything of any value for review. I was scepitical when I first joined how they could fulfill their long range promises, they did great for a while, then as you know, they are where they are now... Great asperations low comitment. Help shut them down!

HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com lifetime membership benefits have disappeared?

I have been a Life Member (#3214772) since 01/1999. I have heard nothing from the Handyman Club of America for several years. From all the complaints registered here, I would say pretty many people got scammed pretty bad. How could I have originally paid for a Lifetime Membership back in Jan 1999, and lately, at least for the last few years, have heard nothing from them? Where are the magazines I used to get? What is going on? How can a Life Member, which has paid in full originally, not even got any reply from this Company? Why can't something be done to at least hear their "excuse" for dropping a "Life Member." John Russom Sr. Life Member ##3214772. The phone numbers I have tried are no longer valid? Please advise what I can do to possibly correct this problem.

HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com no more magazines, no more test tools, no correspondence from them.

I have been a Life Member (#095720) since 06/1996. I have heard nothing from the Handyman Club of America for several years. From all the complaints registered here, I would say pretty many people got scammed pretty bad. How could I have originally paid for a Lifetime Membership back in June of 1996, and lately, at least for the last few years, have heard nothing from them. Where are the magazines I used to get? They actually had some good articles in the original magazine when I got it for a few years. It seems this is a repeated complaint, and no one has gotten any results from any complaints from the Original Company. What is going on? How can a Life Member, which has paid in full originally, not even got any reply from this Company? Why can't something be done to at least hear their "excuse" for dropping a "Life Member." It appears like they respond to no one. Isn't this highly illegal? I expect to at least get a reply of some explanation of some sort. Harry Jonas Life Member #095750. There isn't even a phone number to talk to someone about this. If you think I am dropping this by being completely ignored, you ARE WRONG!

We also signed up for the "lifetime membership", which for us as a new couple was pricey - if I remember it was over a couple hundred dollars. We haven't seen a magazine sinve 2008.

We recently got a "The Family Handyman" magazine in the mail offering us to subscribe. Uh, no thank you. There is so much information now available on the internet that a magazine is no longer useful.

HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com no magazine

I signed up for Handyman Club of America over 10 years ago (a lifetime membership) and can't get my magazines! Once they just stopped sending me magazines and no matter how many times I contacted them they did nothing. In the past they were a nice company and I was satisfied with everything, but now they are terrible. They do not care about their customers, they are lazy and unprofessional and their new reps are extremely rude and impolite. I tried to cancel my subscription, but they claimed that in my case that was not possible. I recommend everyone to stay far away from this site, they'll give you nothing but headache!

HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com life member bad treatment

To the handyman club of america. I am a life member since 2000 and a charter member since 1994. I really enjoy the magazine. Problem is, i used to receive tools to evaluate on a very regular basis. Now i realize that i have not received any tools for quite a while. Why not? When i did get them, i tested them and returned the evaluation form promptly. Please update me since the letter to minnetonka was returned with "unable to deliver" on it. Again why?

HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com lifetime membership

I have been a life member of the club since 8/14/1996 and have seen the benefits disappear over the years. I have not seen a magazine for several years, can't find expert advice, plans, ideas, and can't take advantage of tool testing either.

I would like to know where the benefits I purchased are or who I would talk to for a refund of my life membership #[protected].

I am disgusted with the organization and feel they have taken my money under false pretense. I am not receiving any of the benefits offered and agreed to provide when they accepted my payment of $267.00.

HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com home repairs

I was an employee. I was one of five that were not paid for their time. Everyone who worked for him is looking for him. He pays part to get you to come back and then doesnt pay the rest. He owes one 2, 500 E. He owes me 1, 600.00. He owes another 400.00 and one 450.00. And he owes the last guy 600.00.
Unfortunately, he is screwing the customers just as regularly. One couple have lived in one room for 3 months while he doesnt show up and pressures them for more money. There is another guy that had to go buy a new oven and countertop after Matthew damaged both and never came back. He called me to look at the floor that is coming up and to finish his kitchen tile.

Hi dear Berlin community, I would like to ask for a help for putting a series conman / fraud / scam artist in jail and shut him shell fraud GmbH down. As well this is true story happening now and in Berlin and victims are more than 20 people so far.
His name is called: “ Matthew Yabsley “, but you can also find the associated informations as following:
Matt Yabsley
Matthew S Yabsley
www.Handyman.Berlin
Itotallyloveit GmbH at Corinthstr. 42 Berlin, Germany
So, what is his business model?
A. He using “ social platforms (free & open) “ such as Facebook group & craigslist for looking for victims.
B. He focus on “ No-German “ speaking people in Berlin and abusing the language barrier.
C. He targets the people who has limited budget and skip the VAT, so there is no record or invoice to prove any of business agreement and design the whole thing into a grey area in front of law.
D. He assume no one will go to court nor police for such matter, because it’s a civil case.
E. He believe most people in the end will just give up as the base the theory risky control: wasting your time & money and he won't ever go to jail.
F. He is a total sham-less actor, therefore normal decent / educated people’s logic will not be able to apply for it.

So what is my story?
He started my flat renovation from 23/10/17 and until today there is still no water & heating and as his original quote: “ I can't offer you any more than what I have done. It's entirely you that is making this something more than what it is now. “
During the renovation, he was ok in the beginning for providing the trust and let down your guard. Then he start manipulating you as much as possible. He will tell you anything but nothing false and lie. He told me my neighbor said something behind my back and regarding renovation project. He told me the hausmeister close down the water of my flat and it’s hausmeister fault that there is no water. He will told you who ever did the job in your flat is bad and too expensive, he could do better and cheaper. So now, even you have a Phd, you may already believe his is a renovation angel.
Within 1 or 2 weeks, he starting gave you all kind excuses for delaying or materials missing, then he asked for some “ small cash “ to pay some materials and new machine he needs to finish the job. Totally smart, because the project is stared already and most of people will not call it off in the middle of renovation or change new guy.
The end, when you giving more and more money, he will kind of tell you, it’s almost down, made some structure or an example that he could finish next days or shortly. But he will never finished it nor reply your call (he just turn his phone off) nor e-mail.
So what are the fasts ?
1. Attached my apartment made by “ Matthew Yabsley “ ’s masterpiece.
2. He got more than 4000 EUR so far and has not met any deadline - not even close.
3. He had drunk all alcohols in my flat and leave all messes you can ever image it.
4. There is no toilet in my flat yet, so he pee in the vases & wine bottle.
5. He has not payed a worker which he has hired to help - he is desperately looking for money and he can not reach him, so he asking me where to find Matthew Yabsley for getting his salary back.
6. He ordered many materials and never pick it up, so I have to sort everything out, explain the situation and apologize for his behavior.
7. His business model is totally build on fooling people - he has never any intention to finish anything (you find multiple posts as such in the internet).
8. I have data of many many more people who have or are currently served by Matt - reporting the same issues with Matt which confirms the above internet posts.
9. Matt will answer that I have stopped the working relation with him - and yes this true - but only after after he missed multiple deadlines and I found the other evidences for his fraud games - as it always works like this - Matt waits until he get fired and leaves with the clients money and a totally damaged apartment.
10. Internet references (I am very angry with myself that why I didn’t google his name in the begging):
https://www.complaintsboard.com/?search=Matt Yabsley
https://www.complaintsboard.com/?search=Matthew Yabsley
https://www.complaintsboard.com/…
So who the [censor] is Matthew Yabsley?
His facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/mattyabsley
His Linkedin:
https://de.linkedin.com/in/matthewyabsley/de
His Quora:
https://www.quora.com/profile/Matt-Yabsley
So what I looking for now?
1. Are you the victims by Matthew Yabsley too, please contact me and we will put him in jail.
2. If any of you could give me any advice what are the best legal actions (already consult with lawyers, we think tax fraud can beat him very badly) and how.
3. Anyway contact and accurate information of right (suitable) legal authorities. (e.g.: Polizeidirektionen, Direktion Einsatz or Landeskriminalamt (LKA); Prosecutor or others?)
4. Please share this story and make sure there is no more victim.

This guy is not much better ! We had a nightmare !
I hired Mark Mayer to replace my flooring and paint my apartment . His work was despicable . I had to fire him and hire a new contractor, after paying him. He told us he would refunded us. But, of course we did not see a dime. As I researched his back ground. He is not licensed in Germany . Even worse, he told me he was for the Florida keys . That he was retired ., which was a complete lie. Yes, he is from Key West, but, he is wanted in Florida.

As the complaint stated, I signed up to be a life time member and it has been more then 5 or more years since I have received any book from you all. And I really enjoyed them as I used them a lot to do a lot of projects as I really liked doing different projects. I really enjoyed building things as a side project especially for myself or my own house.

Thank you

I'd inquired to the new company that took over (Scout), and back on June 29, 2016 their representative named Jonathan Jacobino said they would issue a check refund for the $298 I'd paid for "life membership", and would take approximately 8-10 weeks for me to receive it. Well, it's going on 21 weeks, (almost 6 months later) and have yet to receive a check. Despite many many attempts by me and my attorneys to intact them by email, all we ever get back is the automated reply message. Copy of last email sent today is attached.

Both me and my attorneys all feel like you've blown me off, you had originally sent the reply back in June 29 stating you were issuing me a refund check to hopefully get me to stop contacting you and blow it off, and that you have/had no intention of ever issuing me a refund check for my membership price for life membership in the Handyman Club of America. We have given every opportunity for you to issue and send out the check, that your representative named Jonathan Jacobino stated would take 8-10 weeks. It is now 20 weeks, and going into 6 months later.

Are you trying to blow this off in hopes of it going away? Are you ready to battle this out in court in front of a judge at your expense?

I'm still awaiting an actual reply from an actual person. Not some automated reply basically saying "Our automated reply system has receive your email, but we don't care enough to actually look at it or respond"!

HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com - life membership

I joined as lifetime member when they were first promoting this organization, and did receive magazines and a router that fell out of the box in pieces, sent it back, they sent another, this one's switch was bad, I did not fight it as I already had a good Craftsman router. I did receive some tools from them, a plastic utility knife, a set of Chinese...

HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com life membership

I PAID for and became a LIFE member (#[protected], 01/2009) of the Handyman Club of America, and for about a year I did receive their magazine and one or two products to test. After that, NOTHING! I stopped getting newsletter/magazines, so I forgot about this LIFE membership. A couple of months ago, I realized that I was getting screwed. So I sent Handyman Club of America an email (on July 5, 2016) asking them about it, especially their website is now all about scouting for ball players - nothing to do with handyman - which I paid dearly for. What I am looking for are (1) a response from Handyman Club of America about my LIFE Membership, and (2) resume getting my magazine, (3) continue receiving products to test, OR refund of the cost of my LIFE MEMBERSHIP.
I think my requests are reasonable, so how about it, Handyman Club?

Hello, I have my own complaint about this LIFE TIME MEMBERSHIP. Just what is going on with this membership thing anyway. I was told a year ago that my LIFE TIME membership was not valid anymore. After years of getting my magazine and other things you are telling me I'm not a member any more. How about you giving my money back and I will give up trying. Is this what you are doing to the rest of the Handyman life members, cheating them out of what you promised us? To bad there isn't something legal we can do.

HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com lifetime member

I also signed up and paid for a lifetime membership and have stopped receiving any magazines or any material at all from the company. It would have been nice to be informed that they were going to stop sending the magazine or they were going to go out of business. Very upsetting to pay for a lifetime membership to something and find out they consider a lifetime a matter of a few years.

HandyMan Club of America / Scout.com dropped all notions of the thought of life membership

It has been a long time as well for myself since I have received a magazine. I looked up the website tonight, 7/26/2016 and was so amazed. Never say one idea for anything related to handyman ideas. Its just like they dropped us all in the notion for sporting events and selling tickets. I as well as the others want my dues back that I paid for in full. They are in breach of there contract that I signed up for, to receive free test products, a monthly magazine, and a lifetime membership to the handyman club of America. Not the Scout company, that is now in charge of the entire company. It seems that they need compensate there members, for the contract that they are in breach of. I want to get to know more members in this lifetime club. I'm at [protected]@aol.com contact me. lets get together.. we want what we signed up for. time to unite..

I fully agree, the last magazine I got was Fall 2014. I paid for a lifetime membership (assuming it was my lifetime, not theirs), and I've got a leather jacket to prove it. I don't know how long I've been a member, I'd guess 15 years at least. And I'm with Spyderdude, do we have a recourse to recoup our "lifetime" payment?
