H&R Block / HRB Digital refund on emerald card and tax prep fee

After 9 years of doing my taxes with HR Block this will be my final year. I always get charged almost $400 to file my taxes. As a loyal customer for so long it would have been nice to recieve a discount. Not only is the tax prep extremely expensive, the emerald card rips you off too. As soon as my refund went into the card $14 was deducted. Im so disappointed. I feel cheated and the sad part is they will continue to remove fees as I use the card.
HR block has shown no consideration for long term loyal customers.

H&R Block / HRB Digital funds being returned

I got an emerald advance on December 8th of 2015 for $900 they immediately took $45 fee out. On January 10 I made a payment of 36.35 which left a balance of $899.38 due on 2/15/2016. I filed my own taxes this year and had them deposited on to my Emerald prepaid card. The funds were deposited on 2/10/16 I immediately paid the balance of $899.38. Within an hour they had taken not only the $899.38 but an additional $919.15 . Was told on 2/10/16 it would be back on in 2 business days called on 2/12/16 only $899.38 had been credited back was told the $19.77 would be on my card in 2 business days it is now 2/17/16 and I am now being told it will take them 5 business days for them to call me back about it.

H&R Block / HRB Digital tax software

Bought H&R Block Deluxe software which says on box "+10% Refund Bonus". Completed our taxes last week on our mac computer as we have done for the last dozen or so years. This year it should have entitled us to a additional +10% refund as per ad on cover of software which says, "+10 Refund Bonus. H&R Block will add10% to the portion of your federal Income tax refund put on a Staples egiftcard when you purchase this product...
Called H& R Block to inquire about it and was told we had to fill out form 8888 online to get the refund but it does not say that in program. Rep we spoke to says it does..it does not we rechecked! We were NEVER given the option to have that bonus as rep said we were. She said now it is too late - how convenient for H&R Block! If there were requirements they should have been CLEARLY indicate within the program. We feel this is false advertising and that we, and most likely many others are entitled to that bonus. We trust that you will help us get what is due to us (by our calculation should be about $322).

H&R Block / HRB Digital taking money not entitled to them

I've been filing my taxes with H&R BLOCK for the past 13 or so years. Last year the branch at Sahara and Maryland Parkway made a mistake on my taxes, which they corrected this year. This year, after filing I paid them with a check for $247.75, which they converted for immediate payment. They then deposited the check, deducting another $247.75 from my checking account. I verified with the bank, who informed me that I needed to have H&R BLOCK refund on their end. I returned to the branch, where they admitted the mistake, and after speaking to their Finance department, see the error and will give a refund, but I need to wait 7-10 business days to receive my money. This is not right. I returned to the branch and argued that they took MY money, immediately after service, and they should return it immediately. The lady that did my return even offered to ? me money from her account, because they know that it was their mistake. I told her that I have the money, its not the point: H&R BLOCK should not be holding money that is not entitled to them. I told them that after making mistakes on my returns 2 years in a row, I hope that they understand why I won't be using H&R BLOCK again.
I just called the customer service number and they "filled a complaint!". Someone will get back to me in 7-10 business days. ARE you listening, what good does that do me.

H&R Block / HRB Digital taxes

I have talked to H&R block about what happed to me at one of your offices I have a case number 1173949 where I was taken into a cubical to do taxes and the ceiling fell out and hit me in the shoulder and covered me with water. I back telling to me to contact building owner not H&R block H&R block knew there was a problem they had a bucket to catch the water but still took me into a dangerous both I asked to be compacted for what happened today I got a letter from a lawyer of Gail Orr the one running H&R block the lawyer saying if I keep talking about what happened to me they will sue me this is going to far there is a thing called freedom of speech and was also told they had some witness of others saying nothing happened when in a both how many are in both with you ( one ) for H&R block to lead a customer into a danger zone is the fault of H&R block not building owner the lawyer William Bradshaw sending me a letter on the behalf of H&R block telling me if I say anything H&R block will sue me is crazy I fill H&R block should make compensation for this matter

H&R Block / HRB Digital very rude desk personnel

Yesterday We went to H&R block brought my friend to file income tax there. And I am a regular client too. I have my 5 y.o with me doing her pee pee dance. But I patiently waited for our turn and asked this "lady" if they have bathroom as my daughter needs to use a potty really bad. She told us to wait! And she went around cubicles as I watched her all she was doing was walking around just pretend she was busy. Then my 5 y.o was begging me that she is Ready to per her pant's . So I approached the same lady again and asked her is we can use a restroom. Then she started raising her voice at us in rudely manner. Telling me Sorry! Im busy! Then I told her I can't let my daughter pee in her pant's. Then she rudely replied again. Its not my fault if she Pees in her pant's! Then i told her you don't have to get mad? All we want is her to use bathroom..?! Then she turns back on me in rudely manner! You! Were mad first! I was like shocked! Wondering what did I do wrong?
I couldn't understand why she acts that way! Not very professional to their customer!

H&R Block / HRB Digital tax filing cost

I have used the H&R Block website to do my taxes and file them for the last couple years. I am low income so I receive free filing and they have always offered that. This year when I did my 2015 taxes I had to pay to have them filed. I am very upset about this because I am very low income and I qualify for free tax filing. The problem with this is they do not tell you that you have to pay for the filing until you are all finished with your taxes and you are ready to file. Now who is going to go somewhere else and start all over and do their taxes again? That is a lot of time and numbers to have to re-enter somewhere else to get that free filing. I feel it is really bad that they do not disclose this to you right away before you even start your taxes. I believe this to be false advertisement. Had I known I was not going to get free filing with them as I have before I would have found someone else to do my taxes with. I feel I deserve to be refunded the money I paid to file my taxes as I am very low income and qualify for free tax filing. I paid $49.99 for federal filing and $36.99 for state filing. Could you please refund my money to me? I am very upset about this. I guess I should also file a complaint with the BBB regarding this.

H&R Block / HRB Digital 2013 income tax prep

My wife Jennie and I have been going to H&R Block's Duarte, CA office for the past several years. When we went to file our 2013 taxes in early 2014, we fully expected to file jointly as we had been ever since we were married. When our tax professional, Carita Herring (a very nice lady) found out that Jennie was now retired and, other than a little unemployment income, had no income for 2013, she said that Jennie didn't have to file and that I should file solo so that I could get the entire write-off on our mortgage. We followed her advice and received a refund of over $3K. We were subsequently audited and told that the mortgage write off was disallowed and we owed $2, 050. We returned to the Duarte office and were told first thing that this error was not their fault, they refiled jointly, got the payment down to $1, 907, and I was charged an additional $109.50 for an amended return. Since I had paid for peace-of-mind, I was a little shocked that HRB accepted no responsibility for the SNAFU, even though it was your expert that recommend we file separately. Had she filed jointly as always, this never would have happened. We would have received a much smaller refund, but I wouldn't have had to empty my savings account to pay the shortage two years later. We filed separately again in 2014, so I fully expect a repeat of this whole screw-up next year, but this time I won't be able to come up with another 2K. I feel like I have been conned by HRB. What exactly did I pay for when I bought the "peace-of-mind" option? What the hell constitutes an error on HRB's part if not this? It was all done at the recommendation of your tax professional. Then, to top it off, I had to pay another tax prep fee! You guys have quite a racket going with that peace-of-mind scam. I expect an explanation soon and, at the very least, a refund of the additional tax prep fee. Thank you.

beyond unethical behavior let me just say if people believe that racism only stands within skin tone you are wrong. This office has the absolute worse tax "pro" this man comes off to people walking in that office as if he would be robbed. he will stalk you as you sit he will watch you with his eyes as you breathe this man has NO professionalism Its already bad enough someone goes in there for an Emerald advance and then have THIS man judge you with every fiber in his being?! I would highly suggest IF you like h&r block through the robbery, then please stay OUT of east Hartford.

On sunday april 13, 2014 ron maher on three occasions referred to us african americans as ###s as we ere getting our tax prepared at hr block in omaha, ne. We were reported the misconduct to hr block and no actions were taken.In march 2015 we were contacted by hr block requesting us to get our tax return prepared by ron maher again.

H&R Block / HRB Digital service fees

I have had the emerald card for about 4 years now. come tax season this year I will be throwing away the card. you would think after 3 years of using the card on a daily basis, paychecks, shopping, gas, etc that they would work with you on any atm fees. or at least build a relationship with other atm providers. but the fact that I have to pay 5-7 dollars just to get MY money is dumb. well after 4 long years of using this card and getting bent over a barrel on atm fees. come tax season this year. I WILL NOT BE USING HNR BLOCK OR THE EMERALD CARD

I walked into H&R Block in Akron Ohio, on alrington road. I signed in and waited to be helped. I sat in the waiting area a good 30 minutes before any employee acknowledged me. When an older gentleman approached the front he asked me if I was waiting to be seen. I answered yes. He yelled "did you fill out a form?" At me. I answered back no I signed in. The forms he was talking about were on a desk for employees... and I'm supposed to go back on their desk and just make myself at home I guess. There wasn't a sign or any directions saying to fill out a form. These people were all very rude and unhelpful. I usually go to H&R block. I will not be returning after this visit. Nor will I reccomend this business ever again.

H&R Block / HRB Digital peace of mind & and tax help

To make a long story short after having H&R Block for years, my wife and I were audited and the H&RBlock in Selden NY which is supposedly a Main! Office did not help us as expected.We always take the peace of mind which is a joke, we had to do all the leg work, download forms, go to the Selden office the had to make copies of are forms that they gave us.We went back and forth, we called the IRS are self because we were running out of time because H&R block was suppose to have their legal team call us to schedule steps for a appeal.No one called had to call office again, district manager was left a message from one of the accountants named Rob, manager never called.We had to ask the lady at IRS what to do, and how to file for a appeal.The peace of mind we paid for we are doing all the work, we don't even get a call back from H&R Block, meanwhile the IRS gave us till Nov 27 2015till a work garnishment is in affect .No one call us back from legal department of H&R Block so we had to send appeal for out, cause we couldn't wait any longer for H & R Block!No and very poor service.So here it is Oct31 still haven't heard from them, never again.My brother in law, my sister in law, my wife's family and mine have Used H&R Block for years.This is the last year for all of us.Has left a bad tast for all of us.My sister in law works for the mayor of NY, and my wife works for the county of NY very upset so much that they are getting in contact with the CEO of H& R Block to let him hear are story, we wrote every detail and name and date & time down.Again very disappointed.April Freatis /Michael Rahle

H&R Block / HRB Digital they are liars and false advertise

I have been with hr block for over 15 years faithfully. Last year they messed up my taxes by spelling me and my children's names wrong and my husbands was spelled correctly (we all have the same last name). That incident made the government deny our tax return and it took another week for the so called tax professional to fix... This year we went into to get an emerald advance as we have done ever since they started and have never had a problem getting the advance and this year we get denied and no one knows why. We have never been treated so badly in our lives, we depend on that money for Christmas for our children we are not rich. Our refund estimate was almost 7000 dollars and the tax professional didn't understand why we didn't get approved either and he is the manager of that office. He knows that we have gotten it every year we are regular customers. We will no longer go to hr for our taxes we will find a different company or I will do them myself. I don't understand how a company can survive when they are liars and false advertise. I will be complaining to the bbb and hopefully there will be another law suit against them.

H&R Block / HRB Digital 2014 tax preparation - terrible service

My husband carries tax debt from a business bankruptcy some years ago. For 2013, our first year married, we filed married but separate to guard against his debt taking my refund. For 2014, we met with a "tax professional" at the Murrieta, CA office of H&R Block (10/13/15) and were advised that we could file jointly but with an Injured Spouse Allocation. We were told that the the Injured Spouse Allocation would likely delay the refund by a few months, but we were not told that acceptance of the Allocation was up to the IRS - they may or may not decide to accept it. This was not made clear to us, it was not expressed at all, in fact. Had we known that, we would NOT have filed jointly with the Allocation. Today we received the letter from the IRS stating that my refund was allocated to his debt. When I called the H&R Block office, I was essentially told "Yeah, that's a shame. I don't know why She wouldn't have told you that." Thanks for nothing, H&R. Your "tax professional" cost us $3k.

H&R Block / HRB Digital emerald advance

Went to get the "Emerald Advance" as I have every year this time since they started it in Angleton, TX HRB office. Brought the usual paperwork, more actually because the company I worked for this year sold out to another hauling company from Indiana so the pay stubs ended in June with one & started in July w/ new company & takes both to see total YTD income, which shouldn't have to be shown to a "professional" tax preparer. I changed jobs 2 weeks ago & haven't drawn 1st check from new job yet (pre job safety classes, DOT/ non DOT drug screens & the like), so I was told the advance was denied this year due to no "continuing" income for 2016 to pay the advance back! An advance on taxes that I far over pay every year just so we get the same amount back as when there were kids at home. Advance that comes out of your refund. Tax preparer didn't speak adequate English, but the other 3 employees there were the same, not an American there today...except to get advances. So, called customer service, another foreigner, same language barrier, same answer...same at another customer service number. Finally found a corporate number in Kansas City, MO. Same answer, all decisions final, nothing they can do about it. I'm a truck driver with a very sick wife & needed to change jobs to not be on the road throughout the holidays this year, based on this advance, a vehicle sold & paychecks yet to come. When I found a HRB site with like posts and an associate answering questions, I posted, much like this one & got a little message saying I no longer had access to the site & sorry, you are now banned from this site...while typing an message to an HRB associate. Paperwork has no preparer name, client number. Only an application number. Very disappointed & believe I will do my own taxes now or at least keep it in the family. Very disappointed in their staffing decisions now & won't be back. Did I mention I have filed with HRB EVERY year since 1990? Have never owed money, have never been denied at the holidays. Hope for everyone else this is just a franchise thing & a Texas thing...that's how they do things here. Cheap work does not mean skilled work. Happy Thanksgiving HRB! All the technology & you can't get someone qualified to fix it...what a hoot!

H&R Block / HRB Digital tax preparation

H&R Block screw up our taxes. We receive a CRA notice of reassessment and have to pay back $300+. H&R Block tell us the following: "Thank you for providing us with a copy of xxxxx’s Processing Review & Notice of Reassessment for her 2014 taxes. We have reviewed the changes made by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and determined that H&R Block will be responsible for the interest portion charged and due on October 26, 2015." We paid to use their software. The software has a "bug" and they only pay the interest? Is this even legal?

H&R Block / HRB Digital assigned tax advisor was on vacation the day taxes were due

I have used H&R Block for the past three years and at this point, I will never use this company again. I was charged $275 for an in-person tax preparation because the employee assigned to my account was on vacation. I was never once notified that my taxes were not going to be submitted on time. The website said Vanessa Duncan was in the process of reviewing my tax return. On Oct. 14 I started to panic so I called the office three times to ask about the status of my online return. I was repeatedly told that my assigned tax adviser was busy and would call me back, when in reality she wasn’t even in town. When I finally got ahold of someone (Sandra), she told me that my taxes wouldn’t be submitted on time because Vanessa Duncan was the only person who knew how to navigate the Best of Both product. Sandra told me that I had to come in to the H&R Block office to re-do my taxes in person, which I was then charged SEVEN TIMES the amount I was quoted originally. AFTER I signed all of the paperwork, the tax preparer (Rita Cummings) told me that I didn’t even need to submit my taxes within the Oct. 15 deadline because I didn’t owe the IRS money. Meaning I could have waited until Vanessa Duncan was back from vacation, and avoided paying $275 for an in-person tax adviser to RE-SUBMIT my taxes that I already prepared online. Rita could have easily told me to wait until Vanessa returned, but instead she took my money and broke the news to me once it was too late to change my mind. I am absolutely furious. The same thing happened to another customer who was in the office at the same time as me. She wasn't notified of Vanessa's absence and wouldn't have known her taxes weren't going to be filed on time. She also called numerous times and was given the same excuses I heard. Sandra, the receptionist, asked Rita to give me a discount for my troubles. Rita lazily looked through her emails for a coupon code. After ten seconds of looking she said, “sorry I can’t find anything.” I am so furious with the customer service I received, especially since I am being penalized for H&R Block’s mistake.

I, too missed the deadline because my return was held hostage (the "block" in H&R Block?) until one of their "tax pros" (which I didn't want but was forced to select since it was the only option!). I saved the transcripts from my 3 days of on-line "chats" which I can't wait to share. When I called them 10/15/15 even the phone rep didn't understand why I couldn't finish my return despite paying $99. After checking with the tech dept. she said the only solution was to create a new account and start over, which didn't work since it recognized my info as a current customer...not anymore! I will gladly join any litigation against these crooks

H&R Block / HRB Digital piece of mind

This is the first time I do my taxes with this company, and I get the piece of mind because I can tell my representative is somewhat new. I feel confident since they are a big company that they will do my taxes correctly, turns out the did not and I have to pay all the money back that I received. Now when I need the help they tell me they cover it if it is their fault and that you refund is protected for three years. I am getting none of that, now that I go into the office it's like they are telling me it's my fault for not being knowledgeable. But that is the reason you go to these people. If I could do it on my own then I would.
