Compounding Interest at end of payment schedule

Complaint Rating: 0 % with 0 votes
Contact information:
Green Tree Servicing LLC
New York
United States
After paying her contracted amount in full, Green Tree Servicing LLC began to claim that my elderly mother owed them an additional $4744.30 siting interest. Green Tree Servicing LLC attempted to obtain a payment of $366.30 that is twice her normal payment by billing her as a "final payment.” When she attempted to confirm this prior to accepting this as a final arrangement, the Green Tree Servicing LLC collection agent stated that that was a "printing mistake" and that it was in fact "a regular payment" but then threatened her credit reports if she did not pay. She is working with the BBB now. Has anyone gone through the BBB, the FTC, or their state's Attorney General and received a favorable outcome?

Your story is confusing. So did she agree to the $4744.30? Is the $366.30 towards this?

If she had paid her contract in full why agree all to anything else? Provide your documentation that everything was paid up. Send them copies of all that as evidence and demand they cease to contact make contact gain regarding that debt as it is paid off, failure of which let them know she will seek legal redress..

In the meantime google these to become a better informed consumer,
1-what to do when you are contacted by a collections agency.
2-your rights under federal laws FDCPA and FCRA
3-Validation of debt (VOD), cease and desist (C&D), CMRRR
6-Your state's Statute of Limitations (SOL) on debt.
7-post your questions at debtorboards dot com
