Great Clips incompetent employee

I visited Great Clips in Tempe, AZ. This is the Mill and Southern location. I asked Brook for 1/4" off of my layers. She looked at the notes from a prior visit and noted that I usually get 1/2" removed. I said, "Not this time. I only want 1/4" off and just a minor lift to my layers." She asked about the length, which was shoulder length, and I told her to leave it alone. She started, then I looked in my lap and 1.5" clumps of hair were sitting in my lap. I asked her what she was doing and she said, "I'm trying a new layering technique." Well, I did NOT ask for a new technique. I asked for 1/4 of an inch to be trimmed. I have a thin fringe around the nape of my neck that looks like a mullet. The rest of the layers are approximately 2" long and one side is longer than the other. Also, there are loose strands that jut out and were not cut in this horrible process. The cut is choppy and not blended. Brook did not do anything that I asked and did what she wanted to my hair. This mess on my head is embarrassing and I have to live with it, she does not.
This happened on 9/15/15 and I am requesting a refund, at the very least. Brook should not be allowed to be in customer service, as she doesn't know what that means. As you look at this picture, remember that the length was shoulder length and is now up to my ears.

Great Clips bad haircut

I went to get a hair cut to great clips near heb 410 and bendera and the lady who cut my hair was cutting the so fast she didnt look at what she was doing and cut it badly and now my hair looks horrible and three times the scissors got caught with her fingers almost cut herself with how fast she was cutting it i am very dissapointed with how she cut it and i need a response

Great Clips terrible haircut and product

Went to Great Clips at Ridgemoor Commons in Palm Harbor, Florida on a Sunday. Jamie, who only works on Sunday, cut my hair. I have course, thick hair that needed to be thinned out. I told her to leave my bangs and sides long, but cut the back short, as I was trying to grow out my sides. What I got was short bangs, short sides, and a long back, that was not even. She also put a conditioner on my hair, and sold me a bottle of it. The product was so greasy, that it took me several days, and numerous washings to get it out of my hair, so I did not bother to use the bottle I purchased. I am glad my hair grows fast, but will never go back there again, since you are at the stylist mercy!

Great Clips terrible company to work for

I worked for great clips for years i never had anyone to complain to about the terrible manager that wouldn't ever cover a single shift no matter what the emergency even if you were in the emergency room she would make you come in.only the manger could have a set schedule there wasn't any raises ever and the manager lived a hour away so if there was a storm or her boyfriend broke up with her she wouldn't show up..and numberous times I've complained to the company and they just reoport it back to the manger alo the owner posted a letter in the back room saying to not contact him about complaints

Great Clips lousy boss!

I just left an utterly sad job at great clips about 3 weeks ago...I have so many complaints about this place I don't quite know where to start but ill try to make this complaint informative and less catty. So, as with other great clips I have heard about this one had a dress code.now, I don't really mind dress codes as long as they don't trample one's self expression completely...unfortunatly this was really sad
.As a hair stylist I'm sure others can agree with me when I say that most of us are stylists because not only do we enjoy doing hair and we enjoy customer service but that we are very creative people in general:)most of us like to express our ideas of beauty starting with ourselves.we tend to like to do our makeup and hair in a way that expresses who we are inside, and what we are capable of as far as styling goes.so when I stumbled upon this particular great clips and was told that I was to only wear white, black, grey and or khaki needless to say I was not thrilled but thought ok, there has to be a fun and creative way to where these bland colors.(But I must say, if you're going to do a boring dress code, why not just give us a "great clips" polo shirt and pair it with black pants?) Anyway, on to my next complaint..when you hire someone and tell them that you are going to give them a raise in the near future based on the fact that they have an impressive amount of experience in this field, it's probably a good idea to follow through with the raise.after working there about a month, I told the owner that I was having a very hard time making ends meet while being paid 8 dollars an hour.my daughters day care alone is 180 a week.this particular great clips paid us bi-weekly, so when I saw my first check and it was a whopping 277.00, I was just a little frustrated.especially considering that I had put in around 70 hours over those passed 2 weeks..hmmmm..I'm not a human calculator but I know full well those numbers don't quite add up!But being the very naive woman that I am, I suggested to the owner that the check seemed short and could she please look it over again and see what happened to cause the shortage? She says she will and on to the next complaint-the next few checks come along and just as the first, they are short!They always were and no matter how many times I brought it up, it was just brushed to the side. What I find so interesting is that she, the owner, never seemed to mind taking the time to come in and scold me in front of my customers (very professional!Right?!) And the customers always enjoyed having this silly woman gripe at the stylist in front of them while they are trying to relax during their rushed 13 minute haircut!I thank my former employer at my first salon for training me well enough that at least my quality did not suffer while doing these hyper-fast haircuts.I understand that the idea behind great clips is to give them a fast yet quality haircut..in and out in less than 15.I get it. And I chose to work at this place.wow, do I regret it! comming back to the fact that my checks always seemed short-I finally had enough 3 weeks ago and decided to do the very immature move by not giving notice and just quitting in the middle of my shift(not cool, I know.but I had enough of this woman and her sweat shop.) So the day that I loft this tiny corner of hell, I got a text that evening from the owner letting me know that if I didn't rush right on up there to return the key that she would be forced to call the police!Well that's a lovely way of getting my attention, you crazy, confused slave driver!So I decided to beat her at her own game-I'ill just go ahead and save her the trouble and call the police myself!So, this kind officer came to my home and asked for my boss's number-the conversation must have been hilarious considering he had to repediatly tell her that I would turn the keys the very next morning, that I was not going to drop everything and rush on over to her. And I really enjoyed the fact that he said it was her own fault for giving the key out in the first place. I don't know about other great clips, but this one specifies that if you have a key, you have 24 hours to return it. So the next morn I ran the key out to her and then was told I had to sign some sort of paper stating that I quit.like I said before, I am very naive, and I tend to trust everyone until they people me wrong, I guess I should not have signed it.now I sit here 3 weeks later waiting for my final pay check that will probably never come, I filed a complaint with the state explaining that this woman is refusing to pay me. But they told me it can take months to resolve this. And because I was counting on my check 2 weeks ago, I now have an over drawn bank account and some very angry bill collectors! thank you Shirley for your crazy, and very unprofessional antics!You have most definitely won the battle.

what happen to a job worth doing is a job well done?

Everyone smiles as you walk in because they are about to rip you off!There is no way to call the employees stylist since they are promised training but receive NONE! The ONLY instructions they hear is "shave it all off". Unless, you are unfortunate and find yourself in Jennifer's or Adolfo's chair who cut the BARE minimum to force you to come back for another hair cut. Meanwhile, these folks believe their hair is growing in quicker than usual. Than there are the hair cut who have no name except "one of a kind" since the ones holding the scissors will cut whatever they feel like it giving you the worst hair cut of your life. Don's bother complaining to the owner since they don't care about you!GO STRAIGHT TO GREAT CLIPS CORPORATE [protected]

Great Clips bad company to work for

First of all i before i started school i said i would'nt work for great clips. just because of how i was treated as a costumer. but then right before i graduated i thought i would give it a shot. even though color was my favorite thing not cutting.
well then when i started they send you to a 3 day class to learn there system. they pissed me off on the first day. the instructor told me to forget everything i was taught in school cause its wrong.
then when you get out on the floor they expect hair avarages to be under 17 mins. but no faster then 14. then they want you to sell 14% on avarage a week. and if you get to many redos because they want you to go fast you get put on probation and then fired. they never praise you when your doing a good job aways saying you need to do better. They let drug addicts work and dont get rid of them. then when the store gets robbed by the druggie they dont call the cops. then you have someone taking alittle extra out of the money drawer with her tips and the drawer is short. do they get rid of her no the right everyone up.
yeah the benefits are ok. but management is not concistant. they work you to death. when your sick there is no sick time.
bad company dont work for them.

Great Clips screwed over employment

This place is the worst place to work for. The training academy is a joke you spend most of it watching product videos. Only learn 3 cuts one time then in the actual salon they have you watch videos and read books on products for about 3 weeks. Don't give you a chance to be on the floor to build your time up or give you any practice then fire you so you can't get any unemployment. The hours are a joke they hire you promising full time hours when in reality only the manager and asst. manager get full time hours. Everyone else gets what ever little hours they wanna give you! I hate this company and will never go in another establishment again!

Great Clips very bad hair cut

On Nov 8 at around 9:30 in the morning at crowfoot, calgary when for a hair cut by a lady ( Don't know her name) that was coming from Texas she mentioned.
The lady did not know how to cut hair, even another co-worker explained to her to how to do it, but she did not have a clue after 25 mins "hair cut" she still didn't manage to fix it . After I paid for the "cut", when went to another place to get it fix.

Great Clips hair cut

The girl doing my daughters hair didn't listen to what she wanted, she only wanted a trim on her short hair and now it looks almost like a military hair cut, she cut to much off and thinned it out to much. I think the girl needs to start listening to the customer and go slow if she isnt sure. We have gone there alot and was happy with the other hairdressers, but my daughter wont be going back .

Great Clips rude behavior, shabby job

I had the worst experience of my life in Great Clips 1623 Coalton Rd Superior, CO, 80027. The lady who attended me, refused to identify me by Last Name. She loudly pronounced my name "D as in Dog", made me wait until she created a new record for me, even though I had visited the same place at least 10 times before. Her behavior was rude and racial, she was coughing to my face, and smelled bad. After paying $16 for a haircut, and $2 tip for a shabby haircut and nasty behavior, I kept wondering why the hell did I cut my hair in that wretched place.

Great Clips screwed up my hair

I have been doing hair cut in the same store for last 2.5years. Today I asked
for the same style as last time. The hairstylist literally screwed up my forehead. They used clips for forehead before I could resist. They just said its too late to change and tried to put the blame on me. How can they do it for a regular customer? I just can't comb my hair Atleast for next 2 weeks. Never expected such a service from Great clips.

Great Clips bad haircuts

Oh my God went in for a $3.99 Haircut figured what could I lose because hair grows back. I got some stylist that had Bad Body odor! (Kaitlyn) Cut my hair in about 7 Minutes. She took the cutting cape off me and asked me if I liked my haircut. I said my hair looks funny she said it will look better when it drys. I paid for cut went right to the salon I always go to and they fixed it for free. Then I was dumb enough to go back for there $6.99 haircut and it happened again with a different girl that barely talked to me (Brittney) and did the haircut in about 5 minutes. This haircut was worse than first haircut! Will never go back! Went back to my normal salon and they fixed my haircut again and my stylist asked me why I went back? I told her I was a slow learner and we laughed and I told her I will not cheat on her again.

Great Clips unfair treatment of employees

I have worked for Great Clips in general on/off for about 8 years. They all pretty much run the same. Some are a little more corporate than others. For every city there are about 6-8 different Franchises, and each owner runs his or her store pretty much they way they want to. I have worked for one that went exactly by the book as far as policies, point systems, specific blackout dates, etc. It is a good franchise as far as equal hiring goes but equal pay & equal treatment-well that right there is a whole different ball game. I know for a fact that this company does not pay all stylists equal nor treat all stylists equal. They definitely have an agenda before they even hire a person. For example, a lot stylist get hired only for a season and they don't even know it. Most of the time they hire stylist for upcoming promotions like a $5.99 sale only to slowly weed them off the schedule later. Some only hire African Americans because of affirmative actions laws but they never intend on keeping them. I have been the victim of this before, they use until they can replace you with someone Caucasian. I have seen it numerous times and I know for a fact that they pay them more than they pay African Americans. When I was hired they told me I was getting paid such and such amount an hour, another stylist friend of mine who is Caucasian-they asked her what she wanted to get paid per hour. The point is, research a company and ask a lot of questions before you work for them. Yes, for them it's all about making money, most of them do not give incentives for things that they should. I could go on and on about this company. If you have a family, this company is definitely not for you. I hope I have helped someone.

Great Clips ex-employee

I would advise anyone not to apply nor work for great clips in Lubbock! I was an employee there for 3 years and got fired for a false alligation! Not only by the store manager, but by the so called GM...The owner of the store who doesn't live here also provided false information as well against me didn't even know the story! That says a lot about them as well...They are all about the money and not the value of a GREAT employee! They PROMISE a lot, but do not deliver on their word! Great Clips is a horrible salon to work for, I would strongly advise not to apply or work for this company!

I usually go here to see Elizabeth or Patti, but have used some of the other girls and they were great.. On this day I saw the manger Ginny. well I tell ya it was a horrible experience, she was rude, very short and curt with me. Just very unprofessional. Her cell phone rang during the service and she answered it. Well to to that off my hair cut is ruined. I had a stack with long sides. She chopped it up and, I look like I have elephant ears. I went to the great clips on Noland rd, in independence and received great service. I will not return to this blue springs location as long as she is employed there.

Great Clips injury

I have been coming to the Great Clips in Hilltop area of Virginia Beach for 2 years and faithfully saw Michelle who was great. However, she recently left the company and recommended that I get my haircut by Melissa going forward. Worst Mistake. I went in this past Sunday and not only was my hairline not straight in the back but I had a cut along my hairline. I have had people come up to me and ask if I was burned or cut!
To make matters worse, she treated me like I was getting in the way of her day and rushed through the cut. She didnt even ask to cut my sideburns and only showed a portion of my hairline when she was done (probably becuase she know she mangled me).
Melissa is the manager of the store so it shows that she is probably not setting the proper example for her associates. This lady does not care about her job.

Great Clips incompetent hair cutter

Had my haircut by Nelida, who seemed to be in a rush, totally not interested, only cutting less than 50% of the hair on my head, messing up my sideburns, then throwing a glop of goo on my head.. Has to be one of the worst haircuts ever. Been to her a few times in the past, never really satisfied, but this was the worst. Makes me wonder how and why she is able to keep her job, she is totally incompetent, and has no business cutting anyone's hair.

She's in a rush because they force their stylists to cut hair in 13 minutes and they time them. If you want more time with a stylist then don't go some place that offers you a haircut for $9.95 with a coupon. How do you think they are making a profit at those low prices? VOLUME! They push 3-4 cuts out the door per hour, per stylist to compensate for the low price. When will people learn that things cost money and you get what you pay for? I worked for G.C. for 13 years and when I left in 2010, they had just lowered the cut times down to 13 mintues and required us to have a 10% product sales ratio to our service sales ratio. Meaning if you do $100 in haircuts you MUST sell $10 in haircare products to someone or you get fired. Tell me how to talk a person who is only willing to spend $9.99 on a haircut to buy a $16.00 bottle of shampoo? Seriously, explain it.

Great Clips assistant manager

There is the rude assistant manager at the Great Clips at Davis Rd and North Tarrant Parkway.. Her name is Denise Vetsch.. she is a big bully and is very rude to employees. She creates a hostile work environment. She tried to enforce the rules and is very hostile. She needs to not cut hair or manage employees. As a customer I watched her scream at a employee while getting my hair cut and I ask the stylist who she was? I usually go to the manager to get a haircut. Do not go to this salon to get haircut nor apply at the salon for a job. She is the a big bully and I was so embarassed for the stylist cutting my hair... North Richlands Hills long time customer.. and I will never go back period after I had to witness this at this salon

As a former GC employee, I can tell you that they will not fire that manager if she is bringing in money. Everyone else be damned. Most manager at GC are incompetent, lazy, uneducated individuals with an ego the size of Texas. And that stylist will be better off anywhere else. GC practices legal slavery - no more, no less. I digress.

Great Clips alex

My family and friends will no longer be going to Great Clips due to one of your employees. She was too busy on her phone, not really paying attention to her clients because she too busy planning what she was going to do for her birthday. She was talking about getting meesed up so does that mean she is a drug user? Now I do believe your company is a drugfree environment, right? I think if you are a drug free environment then you should do a surprise drug testing on her and others. I won't allow my family or friends to get their haircut at this location until this problem is resolve.

Alex is a WONDERFUL stylist, she's always polite to my family and ALWAYS cuts/styles our hair in a professional manner & nobody can beat Alex's haircuts, as a matter of fact LOTS of times we've waited for her because SO MANY people request her! So, TARA...I think you've got your story wrong! So there's nothing to "resolve" Oh and btw...we've followed Alex to each location she's worked at, she's THAT GOOD! Funny, that a mysterious Jennifer M commented negatively at her previous location! EVERYONE should keep a open mind about Alex & this location! This Great Clips is a awesome, clean, professional store with top notch employees!

I know the girl you are speaking badly of and she is one of the best stylists in that shop. She is up beat, friendly, and very kind to others. She is not a drug user. Have you never gone out for your birthday? Getting "messed up" could mean anything. Doesn't mean she is a drug user. I get my haircut at that location every time my family or I need one. It's a great location with amazing stylists!

Great Clips favoritism

It seem to be with the general manager, she has a lot of favorites in our shops. Certain hair specialists get what they want in hours and days off. Other hair specialists have to fight for what they want. The GM takes time off to be with her 30 age daughter; where as the acting manager in the other salon can't get time off in the evening to see her children in school activities (her mother has to take them). When the acting manager has a doctors appointment, 9 times out of 10 she needs to reschedule because the GM forgets even when she is given enough notice about the appointment. The acting manager gave the GM a schedule of times she can work so she can see her children.Last week there was a note on her station saying only one request per week and full time employees need to work two nights per week. As of 3-20-12, the note for request was taken down and was told that is too many request. If you look at the past and present schedule, one full time employee has nights the other does not ( one of her favorites). You would think that the acting manager should be making out the schedule for that salon, but does not. Looking at the past and present schedule you can see that the acting manager gets more of junking scheduling then anything, She does not even look at the past schedule when making a new one. Those that closed on certain days should be the ones that should open and leave early. But that does not happen. The acting manager is now feed up with the stuff that goes on that she is ready to quit even if she does not have a new job to go to. Her doctor told her if on her next appointment, if her blood pressure is still up she will be going on med's. Her health is more important that the bull s--- she has to put up with. It does not matter trying to talk with the GM, I have tried, it does not help.I thought about talking to the owner, but I don't feel that would help either. When I left the Parma salon they lost a lot of customers. The GM asked if I was doing them at my home, no I am not I don' t need to lose my license. I have some customer that followed me to the other salon.

I was at a Great Clips in North Richlands Hills on Davis Rd. The manager was very rude to her employees. I take my kids there and this is the second time I have observed the manager being rude to her employees. I ask one of the stylist what her name was and they said Sandy Wright. The atmosphere is very hostile in this salon. Do not go to this salon. North Richland Hills Texas
