Google Treasure Chest

ABSOLUTE SCAM. I checked my bank balance this morning to find a $72.21 charge. After scouring through my bills to make sure it wasn't something I incurred, I filed a fraudulent claim with my bank. I googled the info I had and came up with nothing. I then went to my mail box to see a disc from "Google Treasure Chest." I looked at the package and right away saw the "Sandy UT" address I saw online in my checking account.

KNOWING I was led to believe all I was to pay for was a shipping charge, I jumped back online and like the rest of you, my email to support@googletreasurechest.com was bounced back. I went to their web site http://www.googletreasurechest.com and got nowhere. You have to "sign in" to get ANY information - the last thing I want to do is "create a member account" only to get yet ANOTHER bogus charge.

I now have to wait until Monday to get a customer service rep on the phone. Meanwhile, this freaking charge has put my balance in the negative. I've been out of work for 9 months - this has been an absolute nightmare.

THEY ARE SHARKS AND SHOULD BE PUNISHED TO FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW. How heartless can you be????

It says on the main page before you order that there is a monthly $72 charge. Anyone know if the system is easy to use. I mean, if you're making thousands a month as they say, what's $72?

The page that came up for me said he was from North Florida. :) Are we supposed to relate just because they say they're from close by? Doesn't make sense to me.

Tracy,

Sorry about your problems. I read somewhere else that for one person, they delayed sending the $2 information so that they couldn't cancel before the $72 charge.

I read a post where they wouldn't refund the money because the person was TWO DAYS past the 30-day opt out. And how convenient for them that the disc arrives on Friday, too late to call "customer service" and nothing can be done at the bank until Monday.

How do these people sleep at night.

This exact same scenario happened to me today. I was online checkng my bank account and there it was, a $72.21 charge! Like Tracey, I scoured trying to find how I could've so carelessly spent that much money; nowhere to be found. What I had to do was call my bank and claim fraud. Now, my bank card has been deactivated and I can't get cash for about 10 days until my new card arrives unless I physically go into the ban and withdrawal. Also, I checked the mail about an hour ago and rcvd the same cd; which by the way is filled with a bunch of info that YOU CAN find for free online. There was no mention of the actual advertisement of typing in ads for Google and getting paid. I am a very unhappy camper and I really do hope that people will do their research before buying into this. I usually do but decided to just go for it; bad mistake on my part!

They are now advertising with a new look - using a child-like drawing of a mom with ad copy that reads something like, "Find out how this Christian mom got to stay at home and earn money, blah blah blah." My mom sent me the link and said, "Isn't this the google scam you told us about?" - sure enough - same scam, different dress.

If any of you thought you would never be the kind to fall for a scam like this, take heart. I'm not bragging, but I am certainly very internet-savvy and make my living from using a computer. Shame on me for believing a "sounds too good to be true" bait.

Where were all these comments when I was making that purchse? I wish I had known then what I know now! This is the biggest scam on us jobless people who would probably resort to any hope of making money to feed our families. This morning I noticed a charge of $72.21 on my bank card with a phone #888-705-1275. I called that # right away only to find out that they are 2 hours behind our time. Next thing I called my bank to cancel the bank card.I'm still trying to call that # and now my bank is also investigating. I hope these people are caught and punished for what they have done to others. It's shameful and unforgivable!

I too am the latest victim of this money at home scam but not only was I charged the $72, this am found another charge for $38 from another company I've never heard of. This was even after I cancelled the original program. My bank would not help with this problem because they said if it's listed in the fine print, their is nothing they can do except stop charges on additional transactions. Beware!

Man, I have to say you people are what's holding back America...looking for a FREAKIN HANDOUT!!!

Get off your asses or sit you ass in front of that computer and actually READ through the info provided on the CD. You can't honestly believe that someone will show you how to make $3k to $5k a month for doing what you are already doing...NOTHING!

I do not feel sorry for you idiots one bit! Just plain lazy..that's all!

I made $500 last month and I'm on track to make close to $750 this month...but hey, I did my research. I read the fine print that everyone should read when using their credit card. I've also read the CD at least 3 times and log in to the member site and learn more everyday!

So cheers to you whiners who are to lazy to do something for themselve...I guess the rest of us will keep paying your stinking welfares and handouts.

I just noticed a charge today on my credit card for the Google Treasure Chest and was also charged a Foreign Transaction Fee! It looks like the charge came from Great Britain or something. I am hoping my CC company will resolve. I will also be changing my card number before they can charge me again!

On 4/29/2009 I also encountered the same situation happen to me. I received a call from GOOGLE TREASURE CHEST to work from home which I only authorize a payment for the amount of $3.88 for the delivery of the disk WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED and on 5/15/09 I checked my bank account and I had an unauthorized charge of $72.21 made to my account and made my account overdraft. I have made a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. I demand my refund upon effective immediately. Their customer service are rude and have no professionalism skills and they're a scam.

Been a victim of the Google Treasure Chest scam?

You should file a complaint at:

The FTC:
https://econsumer.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)
http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

With the Attorney General's of your state and of the state where the scam is located (Utah):
http://www.naag.org/attorneys_general.php

BBB:
https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/getstarted.aspx

If you don't let the authorities know then you cannot expect them to do anything.
If they get a large number of complaints about a company they will investigate.

I should add to my comment above that either the day I ordered the CD or the next day someone called me with a local area code, telling me that I had a free 15 day membership to the Product Resources Network. After the 15 days if I didn't cancel I would be charged $37.77 or something like that. I did get a confirmation email regarding this and cancelled ASAP. Also received a cancellation email and was never charged. All I can say is people are making money off this, but not in an honest way. It is really a shame at this time when people are desperate enough to sign on for this that there are people primed to take advantage of them.

I too was a victim of this scam. When I was charged I contacted my bank and went through the lengthy process of disputing the transaction. They informed me ( my bank ) to contact the local authorities where the company resides. I proceeded to contact the police department in Wyoming. The officer that called me back informed me that he had dealt with numerous calls regarding this and that the address on file for the CC transaction does not exist, nor does the company - at least not in Wyoming. He said the FTC does have an open ivestigation and I should contact them. In the meantime - going on 2 months - I have yet to receive my refund, my dispute, and I had to cancel my card and wait until a new one arrived. Steer VERY VERY clear from this company and everyone that reads this PLEASE FILE A COMPLAINT with the FTC. Also, if anyone knows about any type of LAWSUIT being filed LET US KNOW.

I too was a victim of this scam, and I did read the fine print. All I paid for was the shipping of an informational CD. During this transaction I was taken to the Google Treasure Chest site, wherein siging up for an account seemed required to finishe the CD shippment transaction.

After realizing my account had been debited for something i did not purchase, nor approve, I called the number listed on my statement and received an address where I could request a refund. All the numbers provided by their site were in India, and i was also charged an international transaction fee.

Surprise, surprise, my "in writing" request was RETURNED TO SENDER...

I was hit twice, but that's my fault for not seeing it on my account in April. Now the site isn't accepting any new customers...wonder why? I hope those who perpetrated this crime rot in hell.
