Oldsmobile alero starting problems
Complaint Rating: 100 % with 1 votes
Company information:
General Motors
United States

Oldsmobile alero has an issue when it reaches a certain mileage that it has a security alert that will not allow the car to start-you have to leave the key in the ignition for 10 minutes to reset the security feature-this is not acceptable- this happens at least once a week to me i have been late to work not to mention being at a gas pump and cant move for 10 minutes-have talked to several other owners that have the same problem-why is there not a recall!!

Pull the instrument panel and follow these steps:

1) pull three small 20 gage wires from top of ignition switch up and un tape them.

2) locate the yellow one and seperate it from the others.

3) start your car.

4) cut the yellow wire.

5) turn off the car.

6) crimp in to both cut ends an extention wire and feed it down through the dash.

note: you will need to connect these wires after changing an eventual dead battery out, you must connect the extended wires to start your car after new battery installation, then follow steps 3, 4, 5, again.

7) reinstall your instrument panel.

8) cover the ends of the extended wire with tape and mount it with more tape under the drivers side dash.

9) make a note for your self!
