General Electric refrigerator

I swear to god I want the people in the consumer relations and service department to just fall over and die. I have had nothing but horrible experiences with my refrigerator that is a couple months old. Today was the 3rd scheduled service call where they just decided not to show up without any reason. This is unacceptable service. The 2nd time I called to complain about it they said they will extend my warranty a year, well now it's happened a 3rd time and what another year extended but no service available? GE better try and figure out a better way to deal with customers and not just flake out when I've lost 3 good days at work, which I should just charge them for!

I also have a GE Profile side by side refrigerator that is currently about 94 deg. Sometimes the light stays on and heats it up. This is the second time in 3 days it has done this. I dread having to deal with the expensive and ignorant GE repair people.

We bought GE Profile Refrigerator and GE Profile Dishwasher about 3 months ago and both of them are not working properly

GE Profile Refrigerator compressor make huge tremendous noise and GE dined to replace the compressor since it will bring more issue to a unit and GE Profile Dishwasher does not clean dishes and also smart dispenser on dishwasher does not function properly. We will never buy GE appliance again. GE profile appliances are expensive and they do not work proper and GE has the worst customer service where they do not care about customers after they sell their junk appliances

We had 5 service calls for two new appliances and one of the call, technician did not show up and all the other 4 service call, technician refused to fix the problem. Technician also refuse to replace the refund the product as well and to deal with GE customer service rep is the worst experience because they do not listen your problem and they do think we are calling just for refund or replacement. They do not have any plan or curtsy to help the customers. I would stay, STAY AWAY FROM GE APPLIANCE

General Electric dishwasher jenn air

I bought a jenn air modle #jdb108oaws dishwasher from home depo almost two years ago. I bought the exsended warenty. Not even months had gone by
And the dishwasher had problems. The electronic panel wen't bad. So I could not use the dishwasher at all. The company that they called took there time.
They got out and had to order the panel. Well they had to make the panel
Because the dishwasher had been discontinued. So they told me they do not have it in stock. So it took them 6 month to make. Then the second time
It happened again. Now here we are again. The dishwasher was not cleaning
And the panel would only work on the rince cycle. So the company. They sent
Out ordered the spinners and replaced the shelf brackets that came off. That took a month or more.
They said they would order the panel. One month went buy, two, three, I called the company collins of hagerstown, md and she kept saying. It had not come in. It would take a lond time to come in. So I called general electric.
They called collins and collins applince said they had closed that ticket out in october. I said what. Why did they do that. She said they told her it had been repaired. I said new to me. I told her well why did I call there and they tell me it was on order and it would take awhile. She asked when did I call, I said two weeks ago. She said she did not know. I ask to speak to consumer relations. She said she was. She said she would call and get them back out. I said what it would take another 6 months or more again. Yes. Pretty much oh well. Nothing they will do, I told her how about the lemon law. She said it would have to happen 3 times in same year. I said it would of if I would not of had to wait inbetween for then to order the part, so here I wait for then to call the same repair compy that screwed up to come out. It has been over a wek I call because I got a letter that said call. So I cal and they said that it was in a reviw board to see if it is cost affected to replace it. She said she would call me in two days. She left a message on my husbands phone saying that. They were going to send the part in the mail to me and when I get it to call the appliance collins to have them put it in. So I guess it was not cost effective for them. Not that I have been put out and have got to use my dishwasher 3 months since I have bought it. So here I wait for god knows how long to get the part in. I did with out my dishwasher for thanks given and now christmas. Iknow this company does not give a darn, I have told them I have a fractured back and I just broke my knee cap in half. Do you think they care. Nope. All they care is that's it's cost effective. Thanks g& e consumer relations. Nice relations job there, charlene

FYI:

If you bought the extended warranty through another company, they are the ones who are wronging you by not honoring the warranty. You need to name the name of the company that actually denied you the service. Calling GE if some independent warranty provider is now covering your item after the factory warranty expires would be a mistake. Keep ALL paperwork and receipts and make sure you are complaining to the right person.

GE should offered an equivalent model replacement if they truly cannot repair the one you own. There are also laws, I believe, about how long a company must continue to produce parts, whether the parts are for a vacuum cleaner, an ink refill for an office printer or a dishwasher. A company simply cannot bring out a product one or two years back and then discontinue all serviceable parts a year or two later. That's probably illegal in your state. And if you have the extended warranty read it, because it will say somewhere in there that you will receive an equivalent replacement in the event that nothing can be done to repair your item. This idea that the product was custom made just to repair your dishwasher is probably a lie. These companies will keep on running circles around their baffled customers until their customers read up and get smart and are willing to play hardball. Don't buy into this idea that they don't know about your problem or closed the ticket. They are willfully denying the warranty coverage and that, in itself, is probably a breach of the law if it can be proven.

Contact your attorney general (state) or your state department of consumer affairs to learn your rights. Until we consumers know our rights, they will take advantage of our ignorance.

Consumers, in general, should understand that the government or an attorney's office is where to go for help because there is usually an office or department for every type of consumer concern, and certain states give you even more rights under warranty than the manufacturer does. So don't take some low level GE employee's word for what is legal or not (regarding lemon law or anything else). It is even illegal for them to give you legal counsel without a license!

General Electric ge profile washer

Purchased GE Profile washer year ago for our new home. Thought I was purchasing a step up in quality appliance. Wrong. One year, one month after purchase the mother board control panel went. Took a week to get someone out to look at it, another week to get him back to put in part. When tech left he pronouced washer fixed. Five minutes after he left I tried to do a load of wash, not fixed. Washer only runs on rinse through all cycles. Tried to get tech back gone. Called GE to see if he could come back next day or two of course no way. Another week. Again to look at it and another week to fix. Each time I have to leave work to be there. They can never help you out with scheduling, you can never get anyone to ask questions about the problem, the tech nenver has a part on the truck, I loose pay each time I have to come home. I am still waiting for my washer to be fixed! This is a horrible inconvenience. I should charge them fotr my time, salary lost and the inconience of having to find time to go to a laundromat. I have a brand new home with all GE appliances the builder put in, don't get me started on other appliance problems since we have been there. Microwave, fridge. I will never by GE again, I will never reccommend GE to anyone. There appliance stink but their consumer relatiuons and service are even worse! No wonder they sold off their appliance division!

The GE Profile Washers are the worst. I bought a new washer 3 monhths back and right now it is unbalanced and make a lot of noise viabrating violently due to being unbalanced. I'm so disappointed with it I know I'll never buy a GE product again. I'm not sure if I should get some one to fix it or just get another brandname that works. Ay comments or suggestions welcome.

Thanks

I have the same GE front loader WCVH68OOJWW and have been given the same BS about the 16 pound load. I have found no tricks to getting it to spin. I have had the machine swapped out with a new one from GE and the new one does the exact same thing. I can't do laundry this way with 2 children under 3! I am hoping the appliance store I bought it at will take it back... this has been going on for 3 months now!

I have a GE front loader model WCVH68OOJWW. It will not spin dry anything on the color setting. I have had the mother board replaced and 6 service calls in less than 4 months. I finally called Customer Relations [protected]) to ask for an exchange. They setup one last appointment so they could speak to the technician and then did so at a time when they were no longer working. So, one more wasted appointment with the technical support department telling the technician that they only certify the spin cycle with 16 pounds of clothes and the reason we can't get the spin cycle to work correctly is we are not meeting their specification.

So, GE washers are NOT automatic. You must open the door and manually re-distribute the load before and during the spin cycle to get it to work...unless you put in 16 pounds of clothes...what a bunch of BS. The lemon laws in CA will make them eat this washer and so will I...not to mention Home Depot which hasn't been paid.

General Electric customer service/repair

Late October 2007, I purchased a brand new set of GE washer & dryer ( electric ). These were purchased in SC----then approx. 6 wks later we were moving to WY. From day 1 there had always been an issue with the water fil cycle of the washer. It could't be looked at in time before our move, however it was looked at after our move. I have spent countless hours & days calling number after number in hopes of getting SOMEONE to take the "bull by the horns" and get this washer fixed...I continue to get nothing but the biggest run-around from every GE call center & service departments.
I should mention that I purchased an extended 4 year warranty for these products...The customer service with GE SUCKS! Once again, on Monday Dec. 1 I was told by a "representative" on the phone "you will receive a telephone call within NO LESS than 24 hours to address this ongoing issue. Well, here it is Friday Dece.ber 5, 2008 and STILL NO PHONE CALL FROM ANYONE!
What is a person supposed to do wo get assistance, short of contacting our governor's office?

I today have had enough of GE and will never purchase another appliance from them. I have a dryer that's just 2 years old and every part needed replacement. First replacement for timer which had sparks they fixed for nothing but i paid $100.00 for serviceman. Today I need a new motor and they offered me the part for $50.00 plus I would have to pay labor and the $100.00 fee again. Customer service was nasty and he couldn't tell me how much labor would be. It that ridiculous. I use to have dryers that would last 10 years. I sent certified letters to ceo and customer relations asking for reimbursement and that I will buy a product from another company. I will take them to small claims court just to aggravate them...a big corporation like that doesn't care about anything but money.

First let me say that I own at least 6 GE appliances, totaling more than $3000. Each appliance has either been in need of repair or has required total replacing. I will never again buy another GE appliance. I can understand that a single appliance breaks - no problem... things happen. Thats why we have repair companies; but... washer, dryer, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher - all "top of the line" - broken... each one needing repair, as if there was some sort of timepiece inside of each one indicating EXACTLY when the warranty period would run out.

The single greatest complaint I have is of an appliance I has services during a warranty period - I opted not to have the costly repair done on a refrigerator. A month later, I received a bill for nearly $100 for a service call that did nothing other than diagnose a problem and then leave. I attempted to deal with "customer service" but that proved to be a waste of time - either I would get hung up on by the automated service, or have to deal with some imbicil that would resfuse to pursue any option other than billing me the full amount.

I actually made it through to Mark Pfeiffer, of GE "Customer Service" - the focus of my Formal Letter of Complaint - and the SOB forwarded my account to collections, after my having told him that I already mailed the payment.

I am through with GE and I strongly encourage anyone who wishes not to deal with this type of customer-disservice to follow suit!

After calling customer service or should I say CUSTOMER NO SERVICE and telling them I had a problem with a new GE Telephone that I had brought about 4 months ago, I told the person that I talked to, what I did to try to fix the problem as listed in the troubleshooting guide but this person did not have a clue and did not know any thing, why have a person in customer just sit there and answer the phone and not know anything, I can now see why these big companys are going under, no one cares and nobody know from nothing. After about a day I e-mail CUSTOMER NO SERVICE again told them again what I did in the troubleshooting guide, sent off the e-mail and have still not got a reply back. What a company to deal with, I guess if the CEO of this company does not care, why should the employees? Good luck if you buy a GENERAL ELECTRIC product, you will need it.

Never, never again with GE. I bought their Monogram refrigerator -- I've owned it 5 years and have had to empty the refrigerator 7 times because it stops working. I have spent over $1300 repairing the refrigerator and have replaced almost every part (except the compressor). Their "service" staff have offered to sell me another refrigerator at a discount -- as if I would ever put another GE product in my home.

I bought a GE dishwasher in September of 2008. I have had the service technician out 3 times. Finally this last time they wanted to charge me $189 to repair a $500 dishwasher that is less than one year old. I will never purchase another GE product again.

General Electric appliance breakdown

To Whom It May Concern:
All. I wish to relate my GE experience to you. My decision to purchase a dryer was a toss up but I felt the GE name would give me the edge. So I bought a GE profile series dryer.
It was delivered, installed by the local appliance store and when turned on made so much noise that I call the appliance store back and they swapped it out. When the replacement was turned on it made some squeaking but not much. A call to GE said squeaking was normal.
Now barely 2 years after owning this dryer we started having major noise and then the dryer would rumble and walk. My son finally figured a work around and this was low heat. Only trouble was this took a long time. So I called the GE answer line and they said it was out of warranty. I asked to speak to someone who I could discuss my displeasure. This person politely said the best that could happen was GE would pay for the service trip.
So I thought about fixing myself and called back to get the owners manual. I tried online but the site did not recognize my model. So I called in to figure this out and the representative could not get this online so she faxed and sent US mail the owner’s manual. Not a good day for a Fortune 100 company when their site cannot even be navigated by employees.
She also sensed I was not pleased and gave me the number to a Kim Freeman. I called Kim and left a message that was returned by a Mary Beth Culver. Now everyone was very polite and professional and Mary Beth said that GE would cover the service trip charge and parts and for me to cover labor. I agreed and the service man showed up 2 days later. He also was very polite and professional and in 25 minutes had my dryer working better than when it was originally purchased.
He then said the labor charge was $110. I commented that this was $300/hour for labor. Now he was very good but he was not a cardiac surgeon. I paid the bill and called Mary Beth. She said that all job labor charges are based on what is replaced/repaired and this insures a consistent charge if a serviceperson takes longer than others. I explained to Mary Beth that I was still not satisfied but she insisted GE had been quite fair. I explained that customers relate poor experience more frequently than good ones and I would be relating my GE experience, both solicited and unsolicited.
As a Realtor I have many opportunities to discuss this. Now I am faxing this to you as I prepare to leave town for a week. When I return I plan to post my GE experience to every blog and site I can think of. It is unfortunate that companies cannot stand behind there product but if a deficiency is found than consumers should be aware of this. After all, we are the customers. Thanks you for your time.

I agree with anyone who complains about GE. Especially those gawd awful people who are their "Customer relations". I have been fighting with GE for over three months about a defective wall oven. I have talked witha dozen of these "So called - customers relations personnel" and I can tell you for a fact they are the most uncooperative, arogant people you should not have to deal with. I have written three (3) letters to the President of the company and have not even received a "kiss my A-- response. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GE PRODUCT, AND WILL AS I TOLD THE PRESIDENT THAT I WILL CONTINUE TO DISTRIBUTE FLIERS BAD MOUTHING GE AND CONTINUE TO TAKE MY POSTER TO EVERY STORE THAT SELLS GE PRODUCTS. I EVEN HAVE A SIGN FOR MY TRUCK.

General Electric lint

I bought a GE washing machine this year and it washes the clothes all right, but I have some "drip-dry" clothes that never see the inside of my dryer, and they invariably come out with at least a bit of lint on them - and I am not over- or under-sudsing, or using too much or too little water. There is simply nothing in the washer to trap the lint in the wash-water. I have been unable to find a lint filter that will fit any recent model of GE washing machine. "Home remedies" such as tossing panty hose into the wash do not get it. Could you please tell me where I might find an in-basket lint filter, or tell me how we might construct one?
I have long been a "fan" of GE appliances - my mother had a GE wringer washer when I was a child, and that machine had no break-down in it. I would really appreciate any help you can give me on this lint problem. Thank you for your attention.

I got a used GE Profile, same model, from my sister. I absolutely HATE this machine. I just did a load of some of my nice dark winter clothes and there is hideous lint on every single piece of clothing so severe I could just scream. I can rinse and double rinse and the lint will persist. When I first had the problem, I looked on line and got all the troubleshooting recommendations. All the parts that could be opened or accessed were cleaned. I did hot water loads with washer cleaner tablets and then more with bleach. I use vinegar in the loads. i don't use too much wash detergent. None of these efforts improved the performance in the least bit. I will be getting a new machine as soon as possible. I hate to waste resources, but this machine is going to the dump. I would feel terrible giving it away to my worst enemy.

We are having the same difficulty with lint. It is very frustrating. Lint shows up on everything washed. We have to brush the lint off of everything washed and even have to rerinse the dark clothing. We are very pleased with all of the other features with the except of this problem.

In November 2009 we purchased new GE model WPRE6150k2wt (one without an agitator). It has been leaving lint on the clothes from the get-go. Same house and plumbing - just disconnected old Maytag (lasted a whopping 7 years with two empty nesters albeit no lint with any of various load combinations) and hooked up the GE. Tried manually over riding auto load size so plenty of rinse water. Tried all the different settings- with and without extra rinse. . I am doing the same everyday loads I have been dong for 40 years in God knows how many various brands and types of machines and now with the new high falutin, easier to use than ever machine, all of a sudden it's MY fault the clothes have lint on every load. Were all those machines over the past 40 years that didn't produce lint with the same wash loads one-of-a kind mutations? We went to the dealer. They say use HE detergent. January 2010, purchased and tried the HE detergent and still clothes covered with lint.

General Electric bad service

This washing machine is less than one year old. Here is a litany of warranty services it has recieved thus far:

One month old, loose tub. Service Technician tightened.

Three months old, tub loose again. Service Technician replaced big nut.

Six months old. front cover won't stay on. sheet metal bent from regular use.

Right front adjustable foot won't adjust. Threew a block of wood under it

to level it. Service Technician said he'd order me a new foot. He didn't. Service Technician accused me of modifing machine, I did not. He had never seen a machine like this one. It showed.

Was given a year's extension on warranty.

Eleven months old, will not spin. Waited a wek for service, Service Technician installed wrong motor will have correct delivered to my home, next week.

Back to the laundromat!

I purchased a GE front loader washer and dryer on 8/4/06. Since purchaing these units I have had repair men out numerous times, at least 10 times for issues with the washer. There is a strong oder of MOLD resinating from the washing machine. My clothes smell horrible and it's an embarrasement when people come over and inquire "What is that smell?"

I have had the repair men to my home neumerous times and was continously told the same thing... Clean your washer. Well, I clean my washer MORE than my clothes yet, the washer and my clothes continue to smell like MOLD! The last time few times they came out, I called them not only for the smell but for a different problem.

I had contacted them about my washer not spining all the water from the clothes, they sent a repair man out again. They replaced the tub because it was warped and the electrical components for the settings, Wayne, the GE repair man stated, in regards to the smell, "This is the problem right here, " I stood over the replair mans shoulder and what I saw was a HUGE amount of black mold in the covering back of the drum, he stated I had legitmate gripe, however, he would not document it and refused to clean the black mold and Mike, (his partner) left the MOLD in the plastic basket that holds the tub and proceded to reassemble the unit and left.

I feel that GE has fraudently sold me and other consumers a so called "energy efficient" that is not anywhere near energy efficent when I have to run the unit with nothing in it on a regular basis according to the representatives at GE Corporation to clean the tub and 'other' components.

At my expense, they, GE Corporation, wants me to purchase bleach and chemicals, use my electricity and water to run through the unit to "mask" the smell, (THEIR WORDS), how is this efficient and saving energy?

However, the kicker? It doesn't do a blasted thing to correct the issue, only drain my pocket book! I am tired of GE ignoring this issue and continues to tell me there is nothing they can do, they don't cover smell and mold, how convienent considering that many others have the same issues, this issue in my opinion is a manufacture defect and therefore should be the responsibilty of the manufacturer.

I've been sold a bill of goods due to their engineering flaw design, and I am told I have to swallow it. I don't feel that I, or others should have to! I hope you can assist me and others who are experiencing this problem.

Recently, I started to do a little investgating to see if I'm the only one with this issue, I can assure you, I have found MANY people with this same issue. GE is the last place I'd shop again for appliances, their customer service and repair departments lack the ability to resolve issues to a customers satisfaction. They're in the wrong and we, the consumers, are left "hung out to dry!"

General Electric do not stand behind their products

On August 18, 2008 I bought a GE washer (WJRE5500G2WW) It broke on Sept. 23. They came out on October 1, had to order parts. I couldn't use the machine. On October 8 they came back and repaired it. Today it is having the same problems and when I called back all they said was, well, we'll send someone out next week. Don't use the machine. How can a family not use their washer? I want a new machine, but they said they don't do this, but they will be happy to continue to fix it for us. What happens when my warranty is up? DO NOT buy a GE washer. They do not stand behind their products.

Yikes, I just had the same machine delivered Thursday 2/5/09. It doesn't seem to agitate properly and hot water fill is warm at best. I have a tech coming in 2 days. I bought this machine as it was rated in consumer reports as a best buy in their Feb. 2009 magazine.

General Electric poor quality and microwave error codes

I have several GE applicances which came with the park model I purchased brand new three years ago. Since then the side-by-side refrigerator needed service for the computer and now the piece behind the water dispenser is all cracked. Recently, the Space Maker microwave has started reading error codes. I cannot find an email address or a phone number to express my disappointment in these products. Again, t he products are only three years old. I always thought GE was a dependable name, obviously I was mistaken. Please provide me with a phone number, email address or mailing address where I can express my concerns. Gail LaFlamme

General Electric beware

In December 2007, I remodeled my kitchen using all GE Monogram appliances. Within weeks, it was clear that the refrigerator/freezer (Model ZFSB25DTG) was not keeping temperature, would not make ice, was incredibly loud, and the freezer compartment had expanded to the point that the shelves no longer fit.

I made several calls to their service department. One technician would show up, be very rude, and order parts for the next guy; who would then show up late (sometimes not at all--until I made myriad appointments) and then say the first guy ordered them wrong.

This has gone on now for 4-1/2 months, 23 phone calls, 7 service calls, and I haven't had one thing fixed.

General Electric poor customer service

I have a ge profile microwave which stopped working after less than 2 years. Warranty only good for 1 year. I called [protected] on the manual for ge customer care service. They said the charge was $99 to come out and apply it to service and labor. When the tech came out he clarified the charges stating the $99 did not cover any service, labor, or parts. It only covered sending out the technician and diagnosing the problem! After diagnosing he said the total would be $215! I only spent $199 for the microwave brand new! A quick search on the internet showed the new same featured model for $169! When I pointed it out to the tech he agreed buying a new one would also give you a 1 year warranty on everything compared to his 90-day warranty on his parts. Then they offered to sell me a new one for $269 which would "waive" the $99 tech fee. However, they would take the old one away when they delivered the new one. How coincidental that their $269 price is $100 more than buying it at a local store! They said if I did not want to repair it ($215) and did not want a new one ($269), then I would still have to pay the $99 tech fee. What a rip off.

I said I was not properly informed that the $99 tech fee was for simply diagnosing and not applied to the cost of the repair. I refused all their offers. I told them it was not fair to bait and switch me on the $99 tech fee.

After the tech left, I called a local appliance repair shop. They estimated labor at $45 plus parts based on the diagnosis by the tech. I brought it to the store, they fixed it and I picked it up the same day. Total cost $54.

Ge customer care service is expensive and predatory. They come to your home and come up with a repair bill that is greater than the cost of the unit brand new. Then they offer to sell and deliver a new one for much higher than simply buying it at the store. And if you buy a new one from them they demand to take you old one (probably so they can repair it for a few bucks and sell it as refurbished for pure profit).

Before you call ge customer care for any appliance beyond the full warranty, call you local appliance store and try to get an estimate.

We have a GE Profile Refridgerator that is 4 years old. It stopped cooling and we called GE and asked about servicing it since it was still under warranty (5 years). They said that we could get any repair company to come out. We did so and it did not fix the problem. We then finally were able to get the dealer where we bought it from to look at it and it still did not get fixed. We called GE again and they said now we needed to get an authorized GE service company to fix and then gave us a name. They still did not fix it and now I have gone around and around with GE on the phone. We have been without the fridge for 2 1/2 months and now are finally sending out the parts. Better yet, mind you it is still under warranty, they offered a pro-rated discount for new fridge that was only $300 lower than the sticker price for a new one.

We will not purchase another GE product based on our hassel and the lack of consideration that GE has provided for one of their appliances that is still under warranty!

General Electric Known Faulty Parts I had to Replace

On January 17th 2006 we purchased a French Door 22 CU.FT GE Bottom Freezer Refrigerator Serial # VH047785, Model # PFS22S1SBSS, and on April 30th 2008 it stopped working, almost losing all our food and meats, I pulled it out and noticed the Evaporator fan was not working, it was a small DC Fan with a Circuit Board, I temporarily put a small fan we had on the evaporator and it started to work.

The next day I called an independent small appliance repair company, they new immediately what was wrong, the Fan and Circuit Board had to be ordered, they said they have replaced about forty of them already, the circuit board has underpowered parts on it and they know about it, The Parts cost me 290.53, with labor and Tax it cost me
$438.48. I want a refund from GE, I purchased about the same size refrigerator from Sears in 1973, and it was still going, up to last year when I had to junk it because the Shelves where all busted up, it was in my other house.

Thank You

General Electric Defective Products, Bait and Switch, Horrible Customer Service

We also purchased all new stainless steel GE Profile appliances for our remodeled kitchen, including: (high end) Dishwasher, Advantium and (high end) Cook top with Stainless Steel knobs. A month after our purchase, the top rack of our dishwasher fell down in a lopsided fashion. We called GE who sent a repairman out a week later. The repairman said a part that was welded broke and was not able to be repaired. He ordered a replacement, which was delivered several days later.

One night, within two weeks of having the replacement, my husband and I fell asleep in our Family Room where I was awakened several hours later by an acrid odor. I recognized it as an hot electrical odor and hurriedly went around the Family Room checking every electric gadget and appliance we have in there to no avail. The house was filled with the heavy smell and I became scared and awoke my husband. He smelled it instantly and began to look, too. He found the Dishwasher so hot he couldn't touch it with his bare hand. He opened it with a pot holder and discovered the drying element was still on several HOURS after I had run it after supper!

The spinners had liquefied and the bottom basket had warped and the plastic covering had also melted and both had made a puddle of plastic on the bottom of the tub. There is no doubt that had I not woke when I did we would have had a full out fire with my husband in the Family Room and our Grandson and his friend asleep in his room! I called GE who sent out the same repairman who had replaced the first unit about three weeks prior. I expected, of course, the Dishwasher would be replaced and immediately said I did not want that same Dishwasher because number 1 it's obviously a bad model and number 2 it's a fire hazard.

Imagine my surprise when he told me that it could be repaired and he would not be recommending that it be replaced because they would just tell him to repair the unit! I got on the phone with a Tech Support supervisor who told me they would not replace the unit because the repairman said it could be repaired! I told him what happened and that the unit would have gone into flame if I hadn't woke up and could have killed my family as we slept! I advised him that the model should be recalled as a fire hazard. I said the unit had gotten so hot it liquefied the spinners and warped the basket so there is no way that the motor wouldn't have been affected. He told me they would replace the unit for 50% of the price!

Fortunately we had gotten an extended warranty with Lowes, so immediately upon hanging up after giving him a piece of my mind and telling him that we will NEVER buy another GE appliance, I called Lowes. I told the Assist Store Manager what happened and without hesitation, she told me to bring the unit to the store and pick out the replacement of my choice. Needless to say, the replacement I chose WAS NOT a GE product.

During the time the first Dishwasher broke, the $2, 500.00 Advantium also broke and had a code F3 showing in the display. The repairman examined that unit in the same visit as the Dishwasher. He said the Sensor Pad had gone bad. This appliance was also a month old! He replaced the sensor pad about a month later, since that part had to be ordered.

Well, it is about a year later and I'm listening to the beeping of a code F3 on the Advantium again. Apparently the Sensor Pad has again gone bad. As for the third GE appliance that we purchased for the remodeling of our kitchen, the high end cook top with the stainless steel knobs: it actually came with black plastic knobs. There was a small piece of paper that said if you wanted the stainless steel knobs, which cost more, you had to "call this number." I called several times and have never received the knobs that I paid a premium for.

We will NEVER buy another GE product. It's junk and they do not stand behind their products.

General Electric monogram trash compactor

we have a GE Monogram compactor that has been out of service since Feb '08. Last Sep we built a new house and installed what we believed were high-end Monogram appliances throughout our kitchen. Problems with the built-in refrigerator drawer (their most expensive in the monogram line) took five UPS shipments and 3 repair service incidents to correct..they kept sending the wrong drawer..we now have a drawer warehouse in our attic. The compactor has abeen abigger joke...first the service man "diagnosed" the problem w/out even taking the compactor apart...several mishaps in shipping the part and ultimately now having the wrong part...leaves us in July without a working compactor. Calls to their Consumer Relations folks are equally ridiculous..their version of customer satisfaction leaves lots to be desired...we asked that they just simply replace the compactor but they can't until it's deemed irrepairable...so here we are waiting for another part and yet another service man that can't seem to really fix anything...I would imagine GE has already spent the equivalent of a new compactor...so we'll wait till Aug 12 to see if the problem can be fixed...they did atleast offer to extend the service warranty an add'l 6 months...can't say I got warm and fuzzies from that considering past performance.

THE EXCECUTIVE I SPOKE WITH SAID I SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED GE WHITHIN 1 YEAR FOR THE WARRANTY. I SAID" I AM NOT A PERSON WHO COOKS. I BOIL WATER AND FRY EGGS, I NEVER HAD OCCASION TO USE A BROILER. WHEN MY LADY MOVED INTO MY HOUSE, SHE COMPLAINED THAT THE BROILER DOES NOT WORK. SHE IS AN EXCELLENT COOK. I WAS NOT CONCERNED AT THAT TIME BECAUSE I HAD NOT EVER USED A BROILER. MR WATTS SAYS, BECAUSE I DIDNT NOTIFY GE, I AM NOT COVERED FOR THEIR DEFECT. IT WAS BEYOND 1 YEAR FOR THE WARRANTY. THANK YOU G. E.

We have a GE Monogram 12" Compact. Actually we're on our second one. The first one required repair so often that they finally replaced. The second one has already been repaired twice. In all cases its been the drive unit. This is an extremely weak product and service is poor. Avoid. Unless all the others are worse? I'll be finding out.

General Electric bad product

GE Profile Refrigerator Model #PSS26PSWASS
I have had the problem with ice buildup in the back of the vegetable drawer. My fridge was purchased at Lowes. After eight months of complaining, and several visits by GE a technician, they have now done a horrible and ugly job fixing the problem by taping with duct tape, a heater inside the refrigerator! When I questioned the technician, he said "I know it is a crappy job, but this is the best I can do". Neither Lowes nor GE have made any attempts to resolve this issue to our satisfaction. I would not recommend buying the GE Profile refrigerator.

I have had issues with one of GEs high end microwaves. After a half dozen visits by the techies and a dozen calls to customer service, all of which yieded nothing but frustration, I finally wrote a letter to the President of the Appliance Division. To his credit, he personally called to apologize and after some discussion, he agreed to exchange the unit with a newer version that was in reality a significant upgrade. Other than some nuisance issues with the electronic controls, which are easily remedied when they occur, the unit has worked fine ever since.

The problem, like with most big companies, they don't authorize their customer service people to make decisions. Yes, they would probably have to train them better and most likely have to pay more to get people with good judgment but it would save them in the long run and certainly improve their customer service ratings.

purchased GE top freezer refrigerator in 2006 because consumer report gave it a high rating. in 7 years the ice maker has stopped working 3 times due to clogged line and now it need a motor. the evaporation fan motor is being replaced for the second time in 20 months. GE only warrants parts for 90 days (go figure, they know they won't last). one repairman said they Get a lot of complaints on GE products. I'll never purchase their products again

Unfortunately for the product owners out there, Glad to hear I am not alone with my GE fridge issues and many others have experienced issues with their GE Profile PFSS6PKW french door bottom freezer. My experience: Purchased GE Profile PFSS6PKW french door fridge & bottom freezer new in Jan 2008. Cosmetic Stainless Steel front door panels - actually refused delivery of the initial unit from Lowes with dented appearance. Lowes gladly and expeditiously replaced the unit but I then learned shortly thereafter that the panels on many other units all look horrible in the correct lighting. Product quality is very disappointing. Icemaker (when it works) sounds like someone is breaking into the house - no kidding, it's the loudest clunkiest device I've owned since those old wind up jumping toys as a kid in the 1960's. I replaced the original icemaker within the 1st year since the ice maker's bucket overfill arm got stuck down and broke off when I tried to remove the ice bucket to see what was causing no ice to be made. New icemaker then made ice, sporadically, sometimes working fine, other times going for days without making ice. The icemaker has never worked correctly. Now today, 12/24/2011, the water dispensing barely dispenses water acting like pressure is restricted after normal replacement of the water filter. The filter being replaced was pushed off the mounting flange with great pressure and now the water flow is super low with both new (and old) filter. Previous filter removal over the years has displayed high back pressure before and is mentioned in the product documentation so I was not concerned at the time. Now I'm beginning to wonder if that is what may possibly have damaged someting within the internal water dispensing valves. I did try the old filter again to make sure I didn't have a faulty filter and the low flow is still a problem even with the old filter, which was just fine just before replacing the old filter. We are now discussing unloading this unit while the fridge & freezer still seem to work to avoid further problems and continued disappointment. GE seems to have really missed the boat with these Samsung OEM devices branded by GE. I have had much better luck with some of their other products but this fridge is a great disappointment.

My GE GLD6908RWW is the worst invesstment I ever made, it does not clean anything. In addition, I had to replace my water and ice machine on my refrigeration...Imagination may be at work but your qualifty is well below standards. I have never heard a complaint from Bosch diswasher owners. Your must be last on consumers digest.

I am having the same problem with the GE Profile PFSS6PKW. I bought my GE product from ABT Electorics, they wanted to put DUCT TAPE too. I refused to put DUCT TAPE on a $2500.00 dollars on a product that is less then 16 months old. If I have to I will call the BBB or the Attorney Gerenal office for them to give me a new refrigerator or a refund and I will go out and buy something else.

General Electric ge air conditioner

I bought a 10, 000 btu ge air conditioner from walmart on 6/5/07. I used it for approx. 3 months, running it mostly at night. I started using it again this year around june and woke up the other morning and it was dead. I paid $208.00 and use this ac for approx. 5 months in all. I called ge but they said it was nothing they could do since it was a year old and I explained that it may be a year old but I have only used it for no more than 5 months. They said the best they could do was to give me a $75.00 rebate if I went out and bought another ge ac. Why would I want another ge if they only last 5 months? He said he could do no more and that he was sorry but that is not enough for me because $208.00 is alot of money for me and I feel like they owe me at least a partial refund. I also told him there were no ge's around here because it has been very hot and they were all sold out. So I had to drive 40 miles one way to lowes and bought a samsung ac that came with a 5 year warranty for the same money. I even told him I had recently purchased a new ge stove and refrigerator and why can't that rebate be applied to that but he said only on an ac. What a rip off ge is... So sorry now that I purchased their other appliances.

General Electric fraud deceptive service costs

The ice machine on my G.E. appliance stopped working. I called GE and set up an appointment to get it fixed. I was told that there would be a $99.99 trip fee and that parts would be extra. I had to wait from 8 to 5 p.m. so had to take a day off from work. When the repair person came, he looked at the ice machine and said that the handle was not in the proper position and that it would take him a minute or two to correct the problem. The charge for the correction would be an additional $125 dollars! For a minute or two of work! So he presented me with a bill for $225 or less than two minutes work! That is outrageous! Unconscionalbe. Never buy a G.E. product.

We purchased a GE side by side refrigerator for our second home in July 2005.
In May, 2010 our refrigerator starting making a whirling noise but seemed to be working ok. Then we noticed the the freeze pops were not freezing hard, just soft. Refrigerator seem to be fine. Called the local dealer we purchased the product from and after checking they said there was a leak in the condensor. Said it should be covered by the GE 5yr warranty. After calling GE he said that they had changed that warranty to one year. The cost to repair the refrigerator was over $900 so we went ahead and purchased a new refrigerator. GE must have changed the warranty because of problems since I have seen a lot of complaints on refrigerators.

General Electric dishwasher was a lemon from the get-go

I got a new GE dishwasher last year and paid $850 for it. We won't even talk about all of the delivery issues and damaged GE appliances that I refused to accept. From day one, the dishwasher did not work right. It left a filthy residue on the glasses and dishes, so I called GE about the problem. They sent out a technician who agreed that the glasses should come out clean (I even showed him "clean" glasses that had been run through a cycle), but he could not find a problem. Four technicians later (and four more days off from work without pay and technicians agreeing that my glasses should look clean and not have residue after a clean cycle), I was told by GE that since their technicians cold not find a problem, there was nothing that could be done. Although I debated this with the rep that the technicians all agreed that my glasses should not look be left with residue, the rep insisted that since no problem was found, all they coudl do was send another rep out to look for the problem again. By this time I could not afford to take yet another day off with out pay, so I took the time to compose a letter to the corporate offices of GE detailing the experience. I got no response. So now I am stuck washing the disgusting residue off my glasses after they are run through the dishwaser. I would like to point out that my previous dishwasher (a Kenmore) did not have this issue.
Now, my two year old GE gas dryer has stopped producing heat and GE wants me to pay $100 for a technician to come to the house just to look at it!
Next time, I'm buying Kenmore!

General Electric microwave repair

Have GE microwave model JVM1650, magnetron went out, was four years old, no warranty, GE repairman quoted me on telephone price of &69.95 for service call and $100.00 to repair item. Thought price was too high for item I only spent $300.00 for, but wife wanted to keep item and we called and rescheduled appointment. Another repair man came, took 35 minutes for him to replace warranted magnetron, and charged me the $69.95 service call, but charged me $175.00 for the labor, with tax, it came to a total with tax of $229.45 I called GE service Dept. and they said they have no say in what their technicians charge for service, cannot believe such a reputable company could get away with such actions, although it looks like I'm out the extra $46.00 they charged me, I hope that by others reading this, they will pay heed to all the negative response's this company has received. If in doubt, google GE magnetron on internet.
