Virus-like website that has my computer hostage

GAMEVANCE is supposedly a gamesite that people sign up for and play games and win stuff. I NEVER signed up for it and it has somehow gotten into my computer and keeps popping up with ads that saying that I have won $$ and to click here. The ads look exactly like the site I am trying to go to (coke, yahoo, etc) and whether you click cancel or continue it sends you to their site where they try to sell you stuff. The ads are popping up no matter where I go.
There is no chance I signed up for this. This underhanded PARASITE is making my computer freeze while it takes about 5 minutes to load on its unwanted ads on my computer. It is now taking me twice as long to get anywhere on my computer.
Please beware of GAMEVANCE. I have read up on it and it lures kids into the site and then the parasite takes over. It can get past pop up blocker and norton virus and is very difficult to remove. It attaches itself to your computer and helps itself to all of your information. You don't even have to go to the GAMEVANCE website. It can attack you in other places to without you knowing it until it takes over your computer with ads that look exaxtly like the search results page and you can mistakenly click on it and ruin your computer.
Please BEWARE and pass this on to others who have computers and absolutely warn your children. This parasite is extremely underhanded and difficult to remove.
I plan to make sure everyone I know hears about this and if I can find a way to complain to them without being snared in their website I plan to notify them that I do NOT appreciate them taking over my computer and will use my computer and time to give them tons of free "Badvertisement". It's kinda like advertising but instead of saying good things about the product you tell everyone you know and publish it everywhere that this company is absolutely NO GOOD!!!

| UPDATE - Now GAMEVANCE is sending me ads that offer me " a free platinum pass to HORNYMATCH.COM. This is absolutely outrageous and disgusting that a gamesite that markets to kids is also sending this kind of filth to people. I am absolutely offended and outraged that such things are being sent to my computer. Gamevance ads will have the google logo, the norton logo and other legit and recognizable reputable names to hide behind to market their parasitic filth. |

Hit Control + Print Screen, then open up "paint" in your accessories. Hit Control +V (to paste) then save the file with the date the ad popped up.
I got nailed with the Virus and sent copies of the Malware/Adware to IC3. http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
I have been arguing with Gamvance who wants me to download a removal tool. The problem is, the removal tool contains a well known Trojan. I refuse to download it.
I went into the registry and removed all the Gamevance files I could find manually. The company refuses to provide a list of files they altered. I am currently working with my Virus provider to try to resolve.
The FTC is very interested in Gamevance and everyone hit with the virus needs to report to IC3. Pass the word. I am also trying to find an attorney to launch a Class Action against these predators. |

| I used microsoft security. Ran a full scan. It found a trojan and quarantined it. Then goto uninstall programs and you will find it, uninstall. After this I haven't had any more gamevance pop ups. But as soon as I get a new dvd drive I am going to reinstall windows. Good luck |

| I played games on Gamevance, and yes i know about the pop ups and advertisement, i yet i would still be playing it, i just don't have time anymore. Who ever doesn't want to play games, and have pop ups or doesn't want to have it installed on their computer can simply remove it in the add/remove, and reboot computer and all of gamevence would be gone. Now days everybody wants to sue everybody, that is just silly. |

| i absolutely hate gamevance. i hate all those people who say that they will let you have fun, help you, etc. and then it puts a virus on your computer and they see everything! i am really surprised that the people who made it havent been sued yet as far as i know. who would even do something like that and put a virus or keylogger or ANYTHING onto your computer! its just not right! |

| Likewise I have unknowingly been assaulted by this menace and would like to know how to rid my computer of these "surveys", "you've won a free gift", hyperlinks to advertising in every page, etc., etc., etc. I hope they do get sued! |

| I was intending to play a game on Facebook that someone posted. My computer detected a virus so I sent it to the virus vault. Too late. GameVance will not uninstall and now has a toolbar that will not uninstall. I have to take my new laptop in to get fixed. Thank God I have a great no-fault warranty |

| yes i have had it on my computer before i use avast anti virus it works really well and get that nasty stuff off your computer it was vary hard for me to get rid of it but it really needs to be stoped im 14 and i really hate that they do this i think that they need to get a life and stop trying to get kid to look at stuff like that and stuff |

| Spybot S&D (search and destroy) is the only way I could get rid of Gamvance. 3 days ago was my second time to get that crap on my computer. How? I clicked a game ad on a site, then found the game I was looking for was at Gamevance! I had blocked Gamevance year ago before I found out about Spybot S&D. This time, merely being on their site I got all the slow my computer down and pop ups all over again! My Avast anti virus never tagged Gamevance this time nor a the time a year ago. |

| BREAKTHROUGH! Attached is a photo of AVG Blocking out the Gamevance installer BEFORE it gets latched on your computer! Well then. Not only is AVG Anti-virus FREE and it's free version is actually RECOMMENDED by most ISPs, but now it's BLOCKING these grubby little parasites! GET IT NOW! This is not an ad. This is an actual person. |

Gamevance is a legitimate company and I have made 2, 000 dollars to date with the company.
The removal of the adware that gamevance states it will install is very simple to remove, and you literally have to be illiterate to have trouble removing it..
I leave it on and I experience no negative effects whatsoever.. at most I experience 2 ads throughout a week period which has a gamevance banner on it, proving they don't hide it.
The chronic lying on this page is truly disgusting..

| Hey. I'm not sure if I'm out of the woods yet, but I was lucky enough to have installed the free version of AVG Anti-virus 2011 before and contact with Gamevance, and the very same day I was offered something from their site in return for a download I was searching for. The download was clearly not legitimate and was downloading even though I tried to close it. I frantically tried to open the Windows task manager (I'm on windows 7) but AVG 2011 took care of it itself (seemingly). Today, AVG quarantined another file associated with Gamevance without any trouble. Does anyone know if there's anything else for me to worry about? |

I got this nasty virus on my computer. At first I only noticed that words in the text were made into links but didn't think much about it. I never got any pop ups or adds on my computer. But other strange things were happening. The spell check didn't work and then I found that AVAST anitvirus program was not doing it's daily scans. The real time shield had also been shut off.
When I did a scan the only virus it found was the gamevance. But none has said anything about problems like this so it makes me wonder if I have an other virus on my computer?? My computer is doing fine after I got rid of gamevance.
Is gamevance just a spyware program or do you actually get a virus??

Looks like Mr Joe Nell is a little put out that people are calling GameVance out for installing malicious software. How pitiful is it, that a site blatantly and obviously markets games to children, and bundles adult advertising, pop-up generators, toolbars, and spyware/adware into this child-marketed installer? I can't believe he has the tenacity to defend them. Regardless of whether or not you've made money with Gamevance, let me inform you of a little secret. You know the masses of people who have reported Gamevance as a Virus? Well, yeah, I see where maybe one in a hundred, hell even 1/10 might have not read what they were signing up for.. But here's some news. I guarantee a lot of them are far more intelligent than you, Mr. Iobviouslyworkforgamevance.
Seriously, if you think you're so intelligent, go type "Gamevance" into google. Just that, nothing else.
The top few results are the site itself, and guess what the next 130, 000 or so are? They mostly go like this. "How do I get rid of this annoying ****?!" |

| I dont work for gamevance and I think you people are crazy. First the most idiotic comment is that gamevance is marketed to children is strictly marketed to adults you cant even win unless you are over 18. I have won $800 from gamevance and reffered all my friends as its free money. You have to download the software and agree to the terms clearly stated to even begin to have any problems. I haven't had problems with ads they track you net use and send the occational add only when you are connected to their site in my experience. I deleted all their software from my computer because it was my work computer and I was getting a new one. I had no problems and i'm by no means computer savy. The new user of my old computer hasn't had a problem. Even my girlfriend wins money and uses this site with ease. not sure what these people are talking about and i heard all these arguments before trying myself. anyways i couldn't be more happy with gamevance $200 every 45 days. |
