Beware of Furrbcats - Barbara Lafferty misleading customers with Photoshop.
We purchased a blue eyed white Persian kitten from Barbara Lafferty of Furrbcats a little over a year ago.
Upon picking him up at the airport he looked nothing like he did on her website.
He had terrible eye stains all over his face and came to us with an upper respiratory infection that required hospitalization due to his compressed nasal passages. Our vet informed us that our new kitten would suffer from chronic upper respiratory and eye infections his entire life due to his severely flat face.

He was diagnosed with feline herpes that requires daily medication and constant eye cleaning.

Since we purchased him he has generated over $5400 in vet bills and countless hospital stays.
This does not include the $2000 we paid for him.
His sinuses have had to be drilled out twice and three of his teeth had to be pulled to accommodate his smashed in face.
We have to flush his eyes and clean his face twice a day or he will get serious eye infections.

The area around his eyes are completely raw from all the wiping/cleaning, still he looks nothing like the cats she photoshops on her website.
http://www.furrbcats.com/
It is very heartbreaking and definitely a labor of love to maintain him, and now he has become very skittish because of all the medication we are always having to administer.

It is quite clear that Barbara Lafferty photoshops her pictures to mislead customers into thinking her cats really look like that, we would have NEVER purchased from her if we had known that her kittens don't look anything like her altered pictures!

Do not be a fool like we were. Misleading the public and breeding cats that must undergo a lifetime of suffering and surgeries is just plain wrong no matter how you look at it.
Shame on you Barbara Lafferty. Throw your Photoshop software in the trash and show people what your cats really look like. What you are doing is nothing short of lying in order to line your greedy pockets.

BUYER BEWARE!
Broken hearted from my Furrbcat

Today I am reading this and I am overwhelmed with the bad comments fro. Some people, we got 2 beautiful persians in 2009 to give our daughters as a christmas presents, it has been almost 13 years and we have the most beautiful cats you can possibly imagine, yes there are some liver issues but that comes with the breed, the veterinarian has been of a great help in teaching us the ins and outs of having Persians.

Our babies will turn 12 yrs in September, we have moved abroad and both of them are doing great. We are considering getting another baby from Barbara.

I'm sorry if some have had a bad experience, there is no way to know if the owners asked to proper questions or if they took the proper care. I can only speak from my experience and this one has been wonderful.

I purchased 2 show-qualityPersians from Barbara that died after being sick a majority their lives. It cost me 10's of thousands to keep them alive. My white male had runny eyes (some is normal, but not this much) resulting in infections and raw/hairless trenches on his face. Barbara said to use baby powder and admitted to using it prior to delivering him to the airport. I later thought realized this was to disguise how truly bad his condition was. Several teeth required extractions due to uneven jaw line enabling him to chew properly, resulting in constant drooling. His testicles never dropped and 1 had to be surgically assisted. He later died with heart failure from complications of SAS. He was medicated for 2 years before dying in my arms. Four months after purchasing my white, I purchased a blue male. I visited Barbara's residence to retrieve him and almost passed out from the clouds of cigarette smoke in the trailer park home she uses a cattery (very small). There was no ventilation and there were full ashtrays everywhere. I had already fallen for my little baby, so despite my hesitation, I could not bear to leave him behind. He also exhibited eye discharge, but it was more gel-like, which is normal for this breed. He later developed diarrhea for so long and so extreme that he became dehydrated. He couldn't drink enough water and we had to administer an IV on multiple occasions. He had surgery and was diagnosed with IBD. I had to administer B12 shots, he was on prednisone. $$$$ at this point! As a last result, I decided to try Stem Cells to elevate his pain and give him a better quality of life. He lived 5 more years, then died of liver failure. My heart was broken, not only because I lost both of my companions exactly 1 week apart to health related/somewhat genetically predisposed issues, not because I tried to do everything I could for a breed that YES, does have issues, but because I now know that this breeder is not a quality breeder and I feel I failed to do my research properly. Barbara admitted that she was using a cat that had a bad gene and she promised that she removed it from her breeding line-up. However, I would never have really known if she did until I found the above heart-wrenching reviews of others who have suffered along with me. Did you remove the breeding cat who had the bad genes? Do you think the smoke in your small, poorly ventilated cattery has anything to do with all the bad reviews? I called you and spoke to you about everything I went through. You never offered me any advise, or concessions. Did you just figure that I had the money to take care of these cats, because this wasn't what I agreed to when I purchased cats with papers at full price for show-quality. I will have to agree with the above and say, "Shame on you". Please do everyone a favor and stop breeding cats Barbara. And if you don't, at least stop breeding cats in a cigarette smoke filled environment.

We have purchased multiple beautiful healthy kittens from Barbara Lafferty of Furrb cats, also known as Furr-b cats cattery over the past 5 years! They are our very loving furry kids and we have never had any issues with Barbara or her kittens! Barbara is the most honest, reputable and proper breeder you can ask for, especially in comparison to other breeders out there!

Her kittens always come in a prestine coat condition, and loving personalities, as well an official health certificates and vaccinations/ and appropritate testing! I have visited her home as well multiple times, and its always very clean and fresh, and shes very welcoming and sweet, just like her kitties!

I have met a few other of her kitties as well, and they were in excellent health and had gorgeous huge blue eyes and very healthy beautiful coats! Barbara has been working with her amazing lines for many years and she has been breeding champion and grand champions and i feel very blessed and honered to have adopted our furry babies from her!

Her cats look in real life just like they do in their photos! The person who wrote these disgusting lies is nothing more but a jealous competitor who has very clear ulterior motives! They should be ashamed of themselves! Feel free to reach out to me and i can show you beautiful amazing babies we got from her!

I don't know Barb and have never bought from her, but it seems obvious to me what is going on here. People fall in love with photos they see of beautiful Persians and they want one. The find a pricey show cattery and buy one, only to discover that having a Persian isn't as glamorous as it looks in a photo. Their eyes drain and stain their fur. They snort and sneeze and get more colds than other cats. Their hair mats if you go even a few days without brushing. Cat food and water stains their faces, and so on... Then they feel like the breeder lied, or the breeder cheated them when the truth is, they had NO IDEA what they were getting into! They were not educated or prepared for all of this work. People if you want a Persian without all the work, get a doll face from low end bloodlines, they will be closer to a "regular" cat and easier to care for, but they of course won't be as beautiful as the photos you see of show Persians. Really in my opinion regular pet owners with no intention to show have no business getting a show type cat in the first place.

Barbara Lafferty is a liar and a scam artist. Our little white Persian we purchased in 2012 was sick his whole life and died at age 21/2 due to liver cancer. He had a low immune system due to inbreeding. Perhaps Ms. Lafferty and her husband Roger do not even realize they are inbreeding but in any event they need to stop. Our cat was very sick and we tried our best to give him a decent life but in the end he lost his battle. It was heartbreaking to say the least to lose a sweet, smart cat at such a young age.
I beg you not to do business with this woman She operates within the limits of the law but she is immoral. Save yourself heartache and money. We spent $3, 000. on vet bills and would not have minded if we could have had a happy ending for our sweet boy. She writes to another person on this site that she is sorry for their loss, grief and pain. As I said she is a wolf in sheep's clothing. I don't believe a word she says. Say away from Furr-B-Cats.

Response to: Cindy aka "brokenhearted mom.

Most liver disease and failure in mature cats are due to contact with toxins. This includes most non holistic commercial cat food filled with grain fillers, by products and chemical preservatives.
Many foods and chemicals, whether ingested or by contact can be toxic to cats. Infectious diseases, stress and/or illness and anorexia can also cause fatty liver disease and failure. There are numerous factors that can cause liver and other organ failure in cats.
Cats have a very sensitive liver. For more information on Hepatic Lipidosis, Kidney/Urinary Track disease and many other avoidable conditions, go to my DIET AND NUTRITION and the FAQ pages on my website. I have extensive information from several medical and research experts on this subject.
My kittens are fed a diet of mostly Holistic wet canned food, raw beef and very little dry kibble.

To confirm if there was a genetic/congenital defect with a cat's liver, or if it was an acquired condition, there must be a necropsy performed. Otherwise, it will remain a mystery.
When the new owners take possession of one of my kittens, they receive an Official Florida Veterinary Inspection. This health certificate includes up to date vaccines, stool testing for parasites, blood testing for infectious Feline Leukemia/Feline Aids and an a physical examination. No visible signs of disease or congenital defects were observed.

According to the health certificate that your kitten received 02/10/12, he weighed 3lb 13 ounces at the age of 15 weeks, which is a very healthy, normal weight for a kitten of that age. There were absolutely no signs of any illnesses or congenital disorders. The kitten appeared healthy according to the veterinary inspection and signed by a licensed veterinarian.
You saw the kitten before you reserved it and when you picked him up. You loved him! You initialed a paragraph and signed our contract that states that you received the health certificate, that the kitten looked healthy, well groomed and appeared to be in good over all condition. I have a copy of this health certificate, the contract and I also have a photo of the immaculately well groomed kitten.

I did not hear from you again until June 20 of 2013, which is 16 months after you had this kitten, to inform me that the cat had to be put down. I'm sure that you took this kitten see a vet for follow up vaccines and later for neutering. I am assuming that your vet did some blood work prior to the neutering surgery? If there was something going on with his liver, it would have shown up in the blood work.

I stand behind my kitten's health for congenital defects. Even after the time limit for all health guarantees had expired with your cat by several months, I still offered you a replacement kitty if you would provide me with his full medical history and the medical documentation of a necropsy. If in fact, the medical finding revealed that the cause of death was due to a congenital defect of the liver and this condition is what caused liver failure and death, I would gladly replace the kitten.
You declared that you were not expecting or wanted anything from me. My offer still stood after our last communication.
It is out of my control what a kitten is fed or has come in contact with, once the kitten is no longer under my care.

You are now bitterly and wrongfully posting written defamatory libel allegations about me and my cats under an anonymous name in a public blog. You are maliciously stating that I am bringing kittens in from a kitty mill. I own the parents of my kittens. I deliver each and every one of my kittens. These are my cats, my breedings and my kittens! Your demeaning allegations have no merit except to inflict unjustified harm and suffering.
There are no perfect living creatures, not even humans. Whatever happened to your kitty is a tragedy and of no one's fault or intentional wrong doing.
I am very sorry for your loss, grief and pain and I wish you nothing but the best.

Sincerely
Barbara Lafferty

I have purchase a flame point Himalayan from furrbcats and could not be happier, thanks to him my husband freaking love cats haha where was indifferent before, yes being flat face you have to wipe their face daily, I use just regular round cotton pads with water and clean him, I comb several times a week but I love it and I do not see it as a chore, we are so happy with him and as my first Persian I made sure i asked all the right question to my vet. I work a Vet clinic and I know how contagious diseases are and people just don't know it, there are days where I come home and don't touch my cats leave ALL my clothes, etc in the garage and jump in the shower, and I will never bring a cat to my home before being test for feline leukemia and aid and made sure he doesn't have herpes, ringworm or any6 type of upper respiratory, My cats will never go outside as they can catch diseases and what not.
On that 1st complaint I can't say much since I don't know exactly what happened but the kitten could had caught something on the plane because like I said this diseases are so contagious or the stress of the flight could had also made him sick.

Hello Diann aka 1RightToPrivacy.

Hope all is well with you.
Since you have not responded to my attempts to communicate with you, I will respond to your comments on these posts.
Diann did purchase two kittens from me in 2008. She seemed to have been a very nice lady and she was thrilled with her new babies, or at least this is what I assumed since I didn't hear back from her for almost a year and a half.
Diann received an Official Certificate Of Veterinary Inspection, signed and dated by a licensed Veterinarian. This Health Certificate indicates that the white kitten that you purchased on June, 13th of 2008 was examined on 6/11/08 and blood tested for infectious diseases, including a stool sample which indicated that his stools were perfectly normal and parasite free. I have a copy of this Health Inspection Certificate.
You received a healthy, well fed, vigorous kitten with absolutely no health issues two days after this health certificate was issued and I never heard back from you again until a year and a half later to inform me that the cat had died. I am very sorry for your loss regardless of what the cause may have been.
You are now publicly posting and claiming that this cat developed liver failure symptoms due to inbreeding when he was two or three months old. This would have been just a few days after you took possession of him. If this was the case, by law you are required to notify the breeder immediately within 2 business days, with medical documentation for any serious illness and/or any congenital genetic defects. Why would you not contact the breeder immediately if something this serious was wrong with a kitten that you had just purchased? It just doesn't make sense.
Instead, you waited a year and a half after this cat had died and was disposed of, to contact the breeder and make a claim without expert medical documentation.
You are now publicly making libelous defamatory statements that my cats are inbred with genetic defects without providing any proof for your alleged accusations.
I asked you for medical documentation at the time that you contacted me after the cat's death. Your response was that you did not have any medical proof that this condition was a genetic defect, only that this was "in your vet's opinion."
Without medical proof for the cause of any medical condition and/or death, I cannot replace a cat. I still would have replaced the cat, even thou you were not in compliance, if only you had provided me with medical records and proof for your claims.
I stand behind my kittens, but only if the buyer is in compliance and I must have medical documentation with laboratory findings.
Your Quote:
My blue-eyed white Himalayan was dead within 1.5 yrs from liver failure, a genetic condition that made him have white loose stools since he was two or three months old.

Answer:
Where is the medical documentation? Why did you wait 1.5 years and only after the cat had died to contact me?

This is what you have posted this and other posts, quote:
My best guess is that these cats (the white Hemi's) are inbred and get these genetic malformations.
Answer:
Unless you are a "medical expert " in genetics, your "Best guess" has no merit for your allegations without medical proof. Your guesses are not proven medical facts.
Where is professional medical documentation to prove your "guess" theory that this cat was inbred and had genetic malformations?

Quote:
The point is that certain breeders breed cats that are already inbred, rather they know it or not! So my advice? Byer Beware!
Answer:
Where is your proof that these cats were inbred? There is a thing called a pedigree, that unlike with humans, we have access to information for several generations of the cat's ancestors. So yes, we know if a pedigreed cat is inbred or not and I do not inbreed. The parents to your kitten were not inbred and neither was the kitten. Unlike you, I do have pedigrees to prove my claims.
We also know from many years of experience of working with these bloolines, that either parent cat has never produced a liver or any other life threatening congenital defect, not even when paired up for a repeat breeding of your boy. In lieu of this evidence, we must "assume"unless medical documentation proves different, that this is not a hereditary congenital defect, but an acquired condition due to many other possible factors in his environment.
It is very easy to blame the breeder without valid cause, rather than to believe in the possibility that may be something went wrong and it may not be anyone's fault, but an unfortunate accident.
I asked you for medical documentation, a necropsy and toxicology report for the cause of death and you claimed that you did not have any. Liver disease and failure can be caused by many factors, including but not limited to anorexia due to illness or stress, ingestion of materials that are toxic to cats. vaccines, household chemicals, OTC and Rx drugs, plants, grooming products, foods that contain toxic glutten, pest control chemicals, certain parasite anthelmintics, human and/or non nutritional foods, etc. These can be very toxic to cats and can cause liver and other organ failure. No one can guess and/or assume that the cause for liver failure was a genetic defect without the proper testing and laboratory findings.
Below is your posted comment, quote:
This is America and without the freedom of speech we would be like communists.
Answer:
Yes, we as free Americans have the right to freedom of speech, but freedom of speech is only protected when we speak the truth, reveal our identity with provision of hard facts to prove our allegations, not "guesses" and false accusations.
To hide behind an anonymous screen name with no contact information to make allegations of distorted truth or totally false statements, labels an individuals with no credibility. IP addresses can be traced to the author's true identity. An anonymous screen name will not protect you from a law suit.
False allegations are considered malicious defamatory and libelous statements directed solely with the intentions of defaming and causing character damage to an individual, a business or any other entity, therefore the author is not protected under the right to freedom of speech and it is punishable in the court of law.
Let me make one thing clear.
These are delicate living creatures with demanding needs. Sometimes Mother Nature designates their fate, some times it's human error in many different forms.
We as the breeders of these wonderful creatures have the responsibility to observe and research pedigrees for any faults that may affects the health of any future offspring that we are responsible for creating.
If and when we see a problem, it is our duty as ethical breeders to remove those cats from the pool of genes. Most likely this information will come from adoptive parents, since we do not keep most kittens into adulthood.
Some claims are authentic, some are not. We guarantee the genetic health of our kittens, providing that we get the proper medical documentation should anything go wrong. It is the buyer's responsibility to keep communication with the breeder.
I am always available to speak to anyone that has any questions.
Feel free to contact me at furrbcats@aol.com

Sincerely,

Barbara Lafferty

My blue-eyed white Himalayan was dead within 1.5 yrs from liver failure, a genetic condition that made him have white loose stools since he was two or three months old. Yes, heart broken and felt taken by the breeder at first. The above complainer may be speaking of the problem of inbreeding these little guys between each others family members; rather knowingly or not. But the people who are heartless and without compassion for the complainer and the cat itself are the one's who should be ashamed, not the complainer. This is America and without the freedom of speech we would be like communists. I don't believe it is necessary to blame the breeders themselves directly because they may unwittingly be getting studs that are already inbred, etc. Let's keep this reasonable.

Hello, this is Barbara Lafferty with Furrbcats.
These defamatory coments by this furrbcats victim aka Sharon H have no merrit. This is again another vicious fabricated lie by a very disturbed individual whom this time is posing as another furrbcats victim on this particular post and previously as Broken Hearted from my Furrbcats and other assumed names on other post with very similar stories. This annonymous author's only motive is to who's to try to destroy a breeder's reputation by posting these vicious lies. This is a very disturbed individual, a pathological lier whom has been given a playground on these complaint boards to recklessly target certain breeders to try to destroy their reputation using different assumed names on this post. . The magnitute of these shocking complaints without an author's real name and contact information labels this individual with no credibility. My perspective is that this is a very jealous competitor whom will stop at nothing to defame and try to destroy a reputable breeder by posting these horrific lies and now he/she is going as far as making bougus calls to the local authorities with slander and libel accusations of animal abuse as she did with Laura Peters in Salem, Oregon.
We are seeking legal counsel to remedy this matter. IP addresses stay on record on these complaint posts and IP addresses have names and physical address of the annonymous author.
Now Mr or Ms furrbcats victim, this is my question to you.
If you claim to be from Alexandria Virginia on this post and you are claiming to have one of my cats, which I am located in North Carolina and Florida, then how did manage to visit Laura Peter's home in Oregon? Oh, and did you forget to change your screen name from furrbcats victim before you wrote all of these defamatory statements about Laura? Because you posted Laura's complaint and mine on the same day with the same screen name and you speak of deception? So are you claiming to be traveling from coast to coast buying kittens from different catteries? If so where's the proof of purchase?
BIS GC INTHEWIND CHILLY WILLY OF FURR-B was one of my studs and the CFA titles that he receive speak for themselves. Also, he has not been in my cattery for several years now, so if you claim that you have one of his offspring, then why don't you provide the proof with a registration slip that states he is the sire of the alledged cat you claim to have?. My kittens come with a contract signed and dated by me and you should be able to provide me with a copy of it. Or just give your name and location if these allegations are facts so people can contact you.
Just Remember, truth and facts with evidence are not slander, libel or defamatory, but vicious lies with the only intent is to defame and destroy someone's character are and there are laws that you break by doing so.
For the record, I had never spoken or heard of Laura Peters or of Paz4Play Cattery until I saw this post and we are not connected in anyway except that we have located this individual's screen name of furrbcats victim on two complaints in different states against different breeders.
This individual has no credibility and his or her actions are unethical, immoral and unthinkable.
I can be reached at: furrbcats@aol.com for further comments.

You can not photoshop health into your cats Barbara.
We are yet another family who fell victim to your "airbrushing". I only have one thing to say, you can't photoshop Brachycephalic airway syndrome or Epiphora. Our Furrbcat suffered from both of these issues and struggled to take in air her whole life, all two and a half years of it.
I agree with brokenhearted, throw your photoshop away and stop misleading the public.
Chilly Willy was the father to our Furrbcat, I can only imagine what he looks like in real life.
Beware of Barbara Lafferty and her photoshop program. You can see from the reply she posted, she clearly she defends her deception and betrayal.

BRAVO, Barb! It's a shame that the internet can be used to defame reputable breeders. You're absolutely right that any legitimate claim would have been dealt with between you and the supposed buyer over a year ago. I hope the public can see through these flimsy smoke screens. I don't even know you other than by reputation - which is stellar, by the way. You are a reputable breeder of international standing. Thank you for sharing how these sites work. It IS a shame that annonymous defamation of character is allowed. If a person has a legitimate complaint, they should have no problem making their identity known. But more than that, no one sits on a legitimate problem this long and never contacts the breeder in all that time.
By the way, readers, my friend who got a Furr-B cat recently had sent me this link online. Barb is obviously too modest to toot her own horn, so let me share: http://www.alomi.dk/news.php?limit=none article. This is the website of an FIFe show judge in Denmark who visited Barb and saw her cats in person and could do nothing but rave about their quality. You don't get that kind of praise from an international breeder and judge from a cattery like Alomi if things are as reported by this annonymous person. In fact, you wouldn't even have the reputation to attract a visit from someone like that! And he certainly wouldn't link his name, his cattery's name and his own reputation to a bad breeder by basically referring the world to her for her beautiful White Persians. I think Barb's "real" reputation speaks for itself.

These alleged allegations simply have no merit and are totally false. No name is disclosed from the author, so we assume this is a false statement and on further inspection /URL removed/ according to this web site no matter if the allegations are true or false, ED Magedson of [redacted] will not reveal the name of the anonymous author and the post will not be taken down. However for a hefty fee of $2, 000.00, they will be more than happy to arbitrate the complaint without revealing the identity of the author.
These are false and malicious defamatory allegations sponsored by this Complaints Board and Ed Magedson of [redacted], with the absence of proof, hard facts and the author's identity.
This Complaints Board and the [redacted]'s website are nothing more than a playground for dangerous, unscrupulous, sociopaths or psychopaths individuals which are given the opportunity to fabricate and post false allegations without merit and to remain anonymous.
A true valid complaintant will provide their identity, a way to be contacted and be willing to provide hard facts and evidence to support their claims. I challenge this individual to do so and to provide hard facts for these allegations.
This "Broken Hearted from furrbcats" individual sounds like a scorned competitor trying to defame my reputation. He/she has registered on this complaint board as being from Colorado and on the [redacted]'s website as being from New York.

Not once has this individual claimed to have contacted me about this cat that he/she claims to have purchased from me and to wait over a year to file a complaint of this magnitude without "ever" having contacted the seller is preposterous and absurd.

I bought a kitten from Furrbcats and couldn't be happier. Why did this person wait a year to complain? Persians have FLAT faces. Problems can happen with cats with flat faces. My kitten gets better with each day. She is exactly as presented and represented. She was well groomed and has a sweet temperament and personality. I wouldn't hesitate a minute to recommend Furrbcats to anyone. I would recommend however, that a buyer research Persians and especially light fur Persians because they stain. It's not the fault of the breeder, it's just the breed and color. Keeping a white Persian white is a chore. Be sure you are up to it before you get one. Barbara Lafferty is a top breeder and has wonderful cats. They are healthy, well-treated and maticulous. Persians require care, that's part of the commitment. Don't blame the breeder for the upkeep of the cat. That's the buyer's responsibility.

I cannot address anything about your friend because I know nothing about that situation. I only posted about Furr-B because I personally know a recent, very satisfied customer of theirs whose reports are totally opposite of what was posted here about that particular cattery. If I had not personally known someone and seen photos of her cat from Furr-B and had personal emails about how beautiful she is, how nice the cattery was and how well-groomed and healthy all the cats were, and so forth - I would not have known anything to add about this cattery either. My friend had actually just been burned by two others breeders - one sold her a cat with feline leukemia and another tried to sell her a cat she did not even own. So my friend was so relieved to have a very positive experience in dealing with Furr-B, so much so that she plans to acquire two additional cats from Furr-B and not trust to buy from anyone else. So, two different Furr-B customers - two totally different experiences. And I shared what I know about Furr-B from my friend because sometimes online complaints are not valid. It has been proven on other complaint sites that sometimes there is some other agenda - like trying to damage the reputation of a competitive breeder. That may or not be the case in every complaint, but this one is so totally opposite of all I've heard about Barb at Furr-B that I felt compelled to share what I have heard from someone who has actually been on-site at her cattery. Other than that, I cannot express an opinion about a cattery I have no personal knowledge of.

I have a friend who bought a cat recently from this cattery and is delighted with it. She visited in Barb's home, saw her cats and her cat is in such beautiful condition she is getting ready to show her. The price is not out of line for the quality Furr-B cats breeds from and their standing as an international show cattery. She does all the right things - PKD testing, etc. She has an excellent reputation except, it seems, for this one complaint. But anyone buying an extreme-faced cat surely goes into it knowing that such a cat "can" have some respiratory and drainage issues. It's not uncommon to the breed and most people wanting a Persian are aware of this. So, if you are informed and aware and still want a Persian, you can't blame the breeder for everything that you already know "can" be an issue. That said, "most" Persians don't have such severe issues - many none at all. Surely if the buyer saw the cat was ill or not in good condition when they got it, Furr-B does have a health guarantee and my guess would be she'd work with any disgruntled customer to resolve any issues. Sometimes in cases like this, there is more than one side to the story and in this posting you only are reading one side and probably don't have all the facts. My friend is so pleased with her own Furr-B cat that she is getting two more from Furr-B. You don't do that if you've gotten sick, problematic cats in bad condition. As for the photo enhancements, it is clear from her website that the photos are enhanced. This has become a common practice. The difference is that I have been to catteries where the cats looked nothing like what they represent online, just as the complaint states. On the other hand, my friend who recently obtained a Furr-B cat by driving there to pick it up and see the cattery told me - prior to my reading this complaint - that she didn't see why Barb even does the enhancements because her cats are so beautiful they don't need it. Of course, I can't state this is what happened - but I do know that in shipping via cargo, animals can be exposed to all kinds of things - eye irritants, fleas, viral infections, etc. So a kitten "can" leave a breeder in good health but arrive with issues acquired enroute through no fault of the breeder.

$2000 for a cat. I think that kind of says it all.
