Purchased a White Persian Cat from Roger and Barbara Lafferty in February, 2012. We have been living a nightmare ever since.
This cat has been sick from day one. First it was ringworm, severe vomiting, hair loss, miliary dermatitis and on and on. Our vet bills have been huge but the most difficult thing of all is watching this cat suffer. After taking him to several vets we finally found one who said that he has a weakened immune system due to interbreeding. While interbreeding is not unlawful it is most certainly immoral.
I did contact Mrs. Lafferty on several occasions and she insists that this has nothing to with her breeding methods but that now all her cats are in North Carolina. She is a very conniving person but I am on to her now. My reason for writing this complaint is to warn others about her so they do not have to endure what we have. Our cat is sweet, smart and loving but not even 6lbs. at 1 yr. old. We are hoping his immune system improves as he ages. I would like to hear from anyone who has had issues with Mrs. Lafferty's Persian cats. [protected]@verizon.net

I purchased a kitten from Barbara not too long ago and upon receiving the kitten it had ring worm as well as coccidia and has had chronic diarrhea due to a weakened immune system. I have tried contacting her and have not received a response yet.
I came upon this post after I googled Furrbcats to get the link so I could search Barbara's web site for a potential new kitty for my family. In the past 5 years I have purchased two cats from Barbara. They are both healthy and we have had an amazing experience with Barbara. She provided us detailed instructions on how to take care of them and the best quality food to feed them. She put great care in tending to them before and after we purchased them. She has gone above and beyond to make herself available to any questions we have had and is a true friend. I'm sorry to hear that you have a sick cat. As a health care provider, I know that irregardless of whether a cat, dog, human, snake, etc., all species suffer illness and it is not all genetic or the cause of the breed, species, parents, breeder, etc. Sometimes they just get sick. I would definitely carefully consider the damage you are inflicting onto another human being and that you may in fact be wrong for blaming Barbara or her breeding program, for your cats illness. Even with the best care and best intentions, it is not possible to guarantee anyone's health - animal or not. What I can tell you is that I know Barbara and she would do anything to help you and she takes amazing care of her babies and would NEVER sell you a sick cat. I'm sure that you received a Florida state health certificate for your kitten as she provides with all of her kittens. That meant that the vet fully examined the kitten and it was found to be healthy, free from illness. The vets exam and tests confirmed the cats health and that is a reassurance to Barbara that she is giving you a healthy cat. All too often, in the state of Florida, you will not even have a breeder provide this required form. Barbara takes the extra step. I think you should find peace and concentrate on your kitten rather than spending your time being bitter and aggressively demeaning a good person. I will definitely recommend Barbara's cats and am looking forward to adding another one of her beautiful healthy kitties to my family.
First there was no contract between us this a lie and a fake contract, you should be ashamed of yourself, you r the one who step back from his promises and stolen money, you can not ship the cat, first because of the wound, and the second time because of the vaccination! Your cat is sick and unfit for showing @ our CFA cat show, Stop fabricating lies and stories and I respect your age

I just want to confirm, i cancelled the cat Bessy from Sibyll Piesker cattery, because it was injured and she could not deliver as promised!the fact that through no fault of me the cat was not delivered on time. It was badly hurt after i sent her the money?
This cat was hurt while in her care, and became not fit for show. These are her words. Therefore I feel she is wrong to say i cancelled without reason!
It was her responsibility to see the cat was kept safe while under her care and already paid for in full.. She failed to do so and therefore its wrong to withhold my money. Did she tell the club in Germany why i cancelled, no..she just said i cancelled. Well i had grounds to cancel. I wanted the cat for show and it may end up scarred.!
