FunVantage Conflicting, suspicious information: does this company even exist? SCAM!

Called the number on my credit card statement when I realized (SEVEN months too late!) that I'd been paying nearly $25 per mon. for this--don't recall signing up, never even signed in on website. Talked to three customer reps (one supposedly a supervisor) & got contradictory info. I asked who jeaton is (email address on my statement for this company) & was told he was the one I originally "talked" to when I signed up (did NOT ever talk to anyone!). Finally I got a phone number for the "corporate office" in Jacksonville, Fla & asked to speak to him--John Eaton, who, I was told, was the "supervisor" there--no answer. That number was to a "technical support helpline"--no mention on the menu of "FunVantage" but I was told they manage the company's accounts! I asked the first three contacts to send me proof that I'd signed up, but all I got was an email "welcome" letter--which I know I had never seen. Finally, I asked my credit card company to dispute charges to me over the last 60 days (3 mo. worth). I had been told I could get two months' payments back, plus an initial $5.95 charge for the "free" trial--although I was also told the company has a "90-day guarantee." This was not stated in printed conditions they sent me (never saw these at first, either). LESSON LEARNED: NEVER SIGN UP FOR ANY DEAL TO BE CANCELLED AFTER TRIAL PERIOD, THEN FORGET ABOUT IT AND OVERLOOK IT ON CREDIT CARD STATEMENT! ALSO: CHECK OUT THE COMPANY FIRST (THERE ARE LOTS OF SCAM REPORTS ABOUT THIS ONE, EASILY FOUND ONLINE).
FIRST "SIGNED UP"--jAN. 15, 2015
CANCELLED MEMBERSHIP--AUG. 18, 2015
MEMBERSHIP NUMBER--[protected]
I can't attach the welcome letter or the document with conditions because they are PDF and can't convert them to photo forms you accept.

FunVantage Complete Fraud

I was dialing my cc company & mistakenly dialed one number wrong & got this FRAUDULENT COMPANY. the # i dialed was [protected]. Not only did the original spiel say it was a $2.95 shipping charge for the $100 voucher (the ONLY reason i fell for it was b/c i thought it was associated with my credit card & it was valid), but when you go to pay the shipping charge, its actually $5.95. And they asked for my cc #, & i asked FIVE TIMES what I actually needed TO DO to "earn" this $100 voucher - Im furious at myself b/c something DID NOT SEEM RIGHT. finally after the 5th time, he said it was for the Funvantage package & I would be able to cancel after the 15 day free trial, for which i would receive the $100 voucher, & if i wanted to keep the program, then it would be $24.95 on my cc each month. I should have known then it was fishy. & i DID In my GUT, but again, i thought this was related to MY Mastercard company, Capital One . & it was NOT. The obly real way i caught on was when they transferred me to the "supervisor to confirm my payment", he tried to offer me yet ANOTHER promotion, & by this time the promised "3 minute brief survey" was 20 minutes in, I politely declined ... THREE times. by the 4th time he offered, I yelled "I SAID NO". & he hung up on me! I was furious. And called back to make a complaint. They finally, after many explanations from them that they were the "Natl advertising agency", REFUSING to give me their name ... they sent me to the supervisor for my complaint. I made a complaint & he kept interrupting me saying that "it would all be taken care of, I would never hear from them again, all my info was taken off their site", etc. I asked this guy more than once for HIS name & company name, still nothing. He hung up on me. SO ...i called back one more time & asked the next person, nicely, for the NAME of the agency I was speaking with. They tried to get me to call the 1-800 # for Funvantage (the company they are supposedly advertising for) & when i insisted on the name of the advet company i was SPEAKING TO, they said for like the 90th time that i was "totally protected by federal guidelines & they could not, by policy, tell me the name of the company". THAT is when i realized id been SCAMMED completely. I google & found all these complaints! Grrrrrrrrrrrr. I called my Mastercard & cancelled my card. But i would LOVE to find out how to make a formal federal complaint or something. Anyone?

FunVantage Refund

I just wanted to let everyone know, I also agreed to try the Funvantage free trial, and forgot to call and cancel my membership before the time was up and got billed. I noticed on the letter I received that it said 100% money back guarantee. I said sure it is. I called up the number and spoke with Susan (she was very sweet), I canceled my account and asked if she could refund anything because I really meant to call and cancel my account before I got billed, she refunded a total of 3 months’ worth of payments. Wow! Never saw a company do this so easy.

Not only was I was enrolled in this membership but I was enrolled in the ID Theft. I liked the ID theft and it did a really good job. But I had an error message on my ID theft and it told be to call customer care.

I have never had worst customer care in my life! Spoke to a Patricia.
I have never been treated so rudely. As soon as she answered the phone and before I could say one word she put me on hold for 5 min. she treated like I was bothering her or like she didn't want to take my call. I informed her that I had an error message . She rudely asked for my phone number ( not sure why she wouldn't ask for my name or account number) and without warning she transfer me.

FunVantage Weird scam

I was trying to contact Verizon at [protected] so by mistake I dialed 800 intead 888 and got this people. I got confused thinking Verizon was offering me these reward cards, so I asked for customer service the indian in the phone said at the end of the call I will transfer you to customer service, so I gave me my credit card information, but then when he started to talk about some program and 14 days trial I started to ask if he was Verizon and then he said, no and gave me name and website of funvantage, but then I realizaed it was weird all this and told them I was not going to go for it and didn't confirm, hung up. Called my bank cancel my credit card, but who knows what they will do with my information, anyway I was a total idiot and just letting you know pay attention and Verizon should do something about their number so people don't get to that 800 number easly.

FunVantage unauthorized charges

I dialed the wrong # [protected] (off by one digit) trying to pay an electric bill. I was said to have won a $100 gift card with $4.95 shipping cost . They said there was a 15 day trial and then a $19.95 monthly fee after if not canceled. Because i was not aware that I had dialed the wrong # I thought they were legit. Within mins. I was bombarded with 4 emails claiming to charge a $19.95 monthly fee each from, Tech. Suprt., ID protect, AutoClub and Savingclb (fun advantage). I immediately called and emailed to cancel. They sent email confirmations that they canceled the services. I still called my credit card to inform them that if these charges come through that they are not authorized by me. I now have to watch my account over the next 30/60 days just to make sure and file non authorized disputes if they try to sneak in the charges. A huge pain in the A** At this point I hope to just be out of the $4.95 but have to wait and see. If you are reading this then take the same steps I did ASAP, SCAM...

The company works on something called misdials, they tend to get inbound calls redirected by one or two digits off the actual number that you've dialed. The best practice is to ask DIRECTLY and constantly if this is the company that you were trying to reach i.e. use the name of the company constantly in the call, they will eventually either clarify or just plain opt out of the call. Remember, under FTC regulations they cannot mess with your financial information otherwise they are DEAD. Also, when you call for a refund, insure that you ask for a COMPLETE refund including any and all past billings.

Same exact thing. I dialed a number incorrectly and the guy even told me that he was in the marketing department of the company I was trying to dial and that I would be returned to the queue after I heard the $100 free card offer. When they sent me over to verify my information the second person talked fast and tried to add on a bunch of other services. The second guy continued the fraud and told me that I just had to redial the number I was trying to get, after which I realized it was the wrong number. Very unethical. I got my membership email and called the support line and gave them an earful about how they were conducting business and asked them to cancel my account. I'm going to also call my credit card and make sure no charges come through. How the hell do these places stay in business? Amazing

I mistakenly dialed [protected] and was presented with this same deal. After hesitantly agreeing to try and getting as far as my addresses, I found this page and abandoned the process upon reading. Thanks! I was suspicious, but the belief that I had actually dialed my credit card company was a factor supporting authenticity. Next time double check the number before believing it's your lucky day. They didn't get my credit card number, but I'm sure to get more junk e-mail. I see that I got one offer for a contest sponsored by a newspaper in my state within 5 minutes. I dialed the number a second time, and there was some other great deal - some sort of cruise vacation.
