Freelancer.com unethical debiting of $30 to my credit card

$30 debited by freelancer to my credit card without my consent and agreed to refund the same after complaining. But I have not received the refund yet. This highly unethical and please take action to refund the same as soon as possible. I chat with one lady from freelancer and agreed to refund. I thought this site is a reliable site. If I don't get the refund I will write in all public forums.

Freelancer.com milestones released but not paying invoices

These guys are world class fraudsters and there is no doubt.
They took from my Paypal $150 initial milestone but when I got the first invoice instead of paying with the money in milestone they took another amount from my Paypal account. And immidiately at same time another $150 for next milestone.

Meaning the first initial milestone has gone without trace.

I cannot get them to explain and when I filed a complaint with Paypal they issued an invoice to may account for reverse payment for the amount of $150. If I win the case they will be paying be back %150 theoretically, but they have already issued an invoice for reverse payment, meaning they owe me nothing even if I win the case.

This is not the service I joined 10 years ago; It has become machine for defrauding unsuspecting clients.

I have worked with the aforementioned freelancer. He offers great and affordable services. There must be some misunderstanding between you two. Have you worked with him before this project?

Freelancer.com overcharging payment

The company is taking money out from account where they should be taking and I want a refund on my money that the company have taken out. I don't know why you are taking because I don't have any balance left. I haven't done any query of building a new online store. The company did a website for me and the also did the domain name, hosting and other things. It should be showing any balance at all.

Freelancer.com fraudulent billing!

I was a member of Freelancer for a long time now and actually had a great experience there.
About a month ago I found a great job so wasn't interested in their service anymore. I contacted them and asked them to cancel my account and they said they'll do that. Recently I noticed a charged which was made by Freelancer. They never cancelled my account and the worst part is that they decided to charge me for another several months! I asked for a refund but did not receive a response back yet! I'm very disappointed with how dishonest these guys are! I never allowed them to take my money and they never asked for my permission! Scammers!

Freelancer.com scam...

I entered a contest about 37 days ago... Submitted my entry to freelancer contest... The contest went into pending / locked mode "meaning the contest holder did not choose a winning entry" then 30 days went by which means that freelancer will then award top freelancers the prize money... According to freelancer..

"""the prize for contest nutrition and fitness app has been released to the top entries and freelancers. 5 days ago
The contest was guaranteed, but a winning entry was not selected within the 30 days provided."""

The amount $1040"after freelancer deduction prize fee"...

All good until...

"""reversal of [prize awarded for nutrition and fitness app (Usd) from 09/01/2016 at 12:31 edt] (Usd)"""

Now according to freelancer if a contest is guaranteed and the contest holder does not select a winning entry freelancer will release the money to the top contest holders after a set amount of days... Correct... But this time they did a reversal of the prize awarded... I contacted freelancer and I was told that the prize money was refunded because the contest should have been a project and not a contest and that the contest was not gaurenteed... Yet stated above and on my dashboard - screenshot attached... It says the contest was gaurenteed... That means my entry can also have been taken by the contest holder...

I can sustain with evidence all of the above mentioned

Hi Beth, the best way to boycott freelancer.com is to share your reviews, comment and the link of website like this one, sitejabber.com and trust pilot (unfortunately many freelancers still don't know about the existence if these sites) in Facebook, twitter and all the rest of social networks. I'm having problem myself with them with their high fees charged and my service hasn't been activated for the last 6 months. If you have 5 minutes you can look my account here in complain boars and check my post.

I agree all the users in this forum, they should be accountable for the damage they have done and continue to do to freelancers, i'll keep writing reviews and comment until the voice about this website will shut down. At the end of the day, is the online community that decide success & failure of these sites!

I am a newbie on Freelancer.com and knowing what has happened here scares me. How can they do that to someone who works hard for their money. I think every freelancer should boycott this site. Maybe then freelancer.com will wake up and won't allow these scammers in through their front door. The old adage of 'It takes a thief to catch a thief ' stands true. After reading about some of the complaints on this complaints site I'm left wondering if freelancer.com aren't thieves themselves!

Freelancer.com the whole site

Freelancer has stolen money from me. After continuous effort from my side to solve the dispute, sending millions of emails, they keep ignoring my requests to refund the money they stole from my paypal account without permission, and won't refund me the money which is still in my freelancer account, nor will they close my account. This organization is non trustworthly and I will never work with them again. I want my account closed!

Freelancer.com Payment reversal and conversion rate rip off

I had received three milestones payments and proceed to withdraw the money. This converted from british pounds to usd. Then all of a sudden it said that the project was deleted by the user and the milestones were reversed. I got in contact with freelancer and they said that the employer did something and they gave all of his money back (i highly doubt this) and that the milestones that were already paid were reversed.
This left me with a negative balance of british pounds. I told them to correct this, and these liars and scammers took my usd money and then some and converted back to pounds at an outrageous rate than just hours before, and took extra 50$ usd from my account to complete the conversion. That is extra money except from what resulted from the initial conversion. So they took all my milestone money, and extra money from my account, instead of just solving the issue and correcting my balance, for money that they said no longer existed on the website as they had already returned it to the employer. Now they are not responding to this and not willing to fix this, at least restore my account to the previous state and give me my 50$ usd back, not to speak of the project that i will most likely end up have done for free.
They are a bunch of scammers and liars and thieves.

Freelancer.com scammed by chargeback fraud. unethical behaviour.

I do quite a bit of work on Freelancer.com and I recently had a problem. I was contracted by an employer to do a job and a milestone payment agreement was in place. Half up front half when complete. I did the job and received both payments into my Freelancer.com account. Rave reviews and all the usual stuff. A month later the funds were rolled back without notice, my account went negative and account was suspended. After exhaustive questions and emails to 8 different support representatives they said we will allow me to keep working to earn the money back. lol, earn my own money back and still take fees from me? I requested arbitration and got the same answer even though I have irrefutable evidence in my case.

Freelancer.com did not do its due diligence when giving the money back to PayPal. Freelancer.com broke the terms of the User Agreement and left me with nothing. This is negligence.

Freelancer.com has to protect the integrity of its website and the users who rely on it.

Freelancer.com freelancer started eating money of workers

I have moved my 3 clients to freelancer after closing elance.com, first two months I faced problems but resolved, and now I am unable to withdraw my money from the freelancer account, see how they are doing fraud now:
On my first withdrawal request, they accepted the withdrawal request for paypal but unknowingly they hold money untill last date of withdrawal passed, I went to their support, and they told me due to security reasons you cannot withdraw it we are in contact of your client once they reply us we will clear it, I requested to my client please spend some time contacting them for me so I can get paid. And he did this for me then freelancer.com said it is clear now, you can withdraw.
Then I went for second request after first 7 days hold, and when date arrive for withdrawal I got notification from freelancer.com that paypla rejected your request, so money stand still in your freelancer.com. I contacted their support what is the problem they replied contact paypal, they don't know why rejected. I am sure there is no reason paypal denied to accept money and yes freelancer are eating this money. Then I asked their support to tell me is there any other way I can get this money instantly, they said yes, withdraw with payoneer card, so this is my third attempt to withdraw in 10 days.
When I requested withdrawal on payoneer instead of instant it made it 3 further days to get this money to my account, now I am sure I will not get paid my money from them as they are making it harder and harder even voilating their terms of instant for payoneer debit card they have given more 3 days time.
upwork is expensive but I never ever face such problems like facing here on freelancer.com it was my biggest error working online going through them. I should not have done this foolish thing. Now I will wait for next three days to make it possible for me get money then I will close freelancer.com account forver

Freelancer.com scammed

I made an account on www.freelancer.com because I really needed to find a job online. I was injured in an accident and was not able to get back to my old working place. I was so happy when I found this website because it seemed like a great opportunity to earn money by working at home.
So I was contacted by a person who offered me a job. He was a small business owner and wanted me to create a webpage for him. I agreed and we discussed every detail including the payment. He said I'll get the money after I finish the job.
I worked hard on the project and it took me about a month to finish it.
After the work was done he said I'll get my money in few days. Unfortunately I never got anything! When I understood that I was scammed from the very beginning I contacted Freelancer customer service and reported the person who scammed me. They pretended they did something but in the end they said I need to contact the person directly and deal with the situation on my own!
These people refused to help me! This site is terrible! Please do not waste your time here!

Freelancer.com scam and cheating

Hi made a deal with a freelancer on Freelancer.com for a project that was going to cost around 11k. As we got closer to end of completion I funded the milestones, but did not release them. When I got a test app, it was a awful. I freaked out and disputed it with American Express. I then saw I could go into arbitration, which I did. I won back 10k of the 11k. However because the disputes were with my credit card, Freelancer was fighting to hold the funds. Which is bs. They wouldn't release my money. They told me I would have to cancel the disputes and send them proof to get my money back. After I had done so, they refused my requests to release the funds. They said Amex reserves the right to hold the funds, for 60 days. I checked with Amex, and they had delayed some of the funds, but had released 5100 and were going to release another 6100. So that I could then pull the money back out. In my freelancer account, they put $1000 into my account which they refused to unlock, then they froze 8k worth of funds. The freelancer refused to put money into his account, so I would not get the other 1000. I explained to them to check with their credit card processor, and they said at first Amex reserves the right to hold the money, then they said our credit card processor has the right to hold the money for 60 days. This is frustrating, since they said they can't check the status of the funds. It makes no sense since the money has been released. Yet they repeat the same thing, saying respect our 60 day policy. This is ###, as no one else does this. American Express told me to tell them to call Merchant Services... They respond respect our 60 day time window, three of them are 52 days, and the fourth one is 82 days. Seriously wtf, Freelancer has the worst credit card processor. They are holding 10k of my money. I asked them why don't they release the 1000 in the account that is available? Nope they make the account only deposit in, no withdrawals. I have tried reasoning with them, but they do not do anything just copy and paste the same message. Seriously what reputable business uses WorldPay, why not use a normal credit card processor. They are screwing me, and delaying my funds. I wonder if they will even release my money.

Freelancer.com illegal charge to my bank account

Fortunately my problem is not as severe as other complaints with this company. Using Freelancer it was obvious that they illegally charge my account several times without reason or description.

I closed the account a month ago, and today they charged me $31 without explanation.

All you can do is send a online message and complain to the bank.

Freelancer.com suspended my account and stole over $2000 from me.

6 persons from our group opened 6 different accounts in Freelancer.com and were each working with their own skill and expertise. Suddenly Freelancer came along and said that all of these 6 accounts belong to the same person, and asked for identity verification. We started sending our ID docs, but then they said that we only have the option of closing 5 accounts and keeping one. We had over $2000 in these accounts. They did not accept any explanation, nor did they provide any explanation and just said "we have reason to believe that all 6 accounts belong to the same person". Finally we were forced to close 5 accounts and only keep one, because they started suspending all of our accounts. Even after that, they don't open even that one account and have effectively stolen over $2000 of our money. They don't reply to any email, nor would they chat with me.

They still continue to do this. This is their way to get easy money, by suspending accounts that have money in them, and forcing the account owner to close their account. It's a way of blackmailing that Freelancer.com is easily getting away with it. They are a total scam, and they are thieves. All you have to do is compare them to Upwork, PPH and Guru. None of these other sites do such things, and they are committed to their principles. But Freelancer.com does not recognize any business ethics and just steals when and where they can get away with it. I don't recommend working in Freelancer.com to anyone, and you should try Upwork, PPH or Guru. They are a lot more professional and their observe some legitimate work ethics.

Freelancer.com freelance work

I work with freelancer for many years and I know that they are always greedy and also sometimes ###ed but this new experience really makes me give a good thought about renouncing working through them.

I've taken a 750$ project last week from a US client. immediately Freelancer's greediness kicked into my bank account and charged the 10% commission fee. The client released a 200$ milestone which I have in my freelancer account ...

I have made a withdrawal to paypal but surprisingly after 2 days ... freelancer tells me they cannot send the funds as the client is not yet verified. But they had no problems charging my account etc ... Anyway, the client sent them copy of passport and whatever [censored] they asked for ... freelancer replied they want proof he is currently in Thailand, Thailand Visa and passport page with the Thailand entry stamp :-| ###ed stuff to ask but the client sent them those as well. Now, after a week I still cannot withdraw my funds as freelancer didnt have time to check the documents sent by the client ... Meanwhile my freelancer membership was OK charged from the PROBLEM funds :) it seems the funds have problems if I want them and not if freelancer has some use for it.

I have made an ACCC complaint and will continue complaining to all relevant Australian and International Agencies that could help them get on the right path of a lesser degree of greediness and stupidity ...

All the best!

Freelancer.com biggest scammers

Once again today my project payments (1090 usd) are locked by their support stating that buyer who had paid you is not verified. I had worked for more than a month and what i have earned is just waste of time, energy and zero penny.

Just few weeks ago freelancer.com reversed all the payments done in one more project stating that buyer has complained.
Around 1 year ago these people reversed almost 2500 usd.

In all i have lost more than 5000 usd on this website and also lost lot of time and energy.

I am left with no choice other than going to cyber law and i am filing case against them for doing fraud against me. They had stolen more than 5000 usd from me. Completely biased and biggest fraud.
If you are a current user please try to switch to some other website.

Don't waste your time and energy there. They are cheaters.

Really tired and disappointed with this website, they had steal more than $5000 till now from me just by these cheap policies.
