Freelancer.com This company is unreliable and pointless

It's an awful website, please avoid registering on it. I have completed a job, uploaded the files through Freelancer.com's system, and the employer witheld payment, requesting further modifications from me, even though the job has been completed exactly the way we have agreed upon previously. Obviously, he wanted to get away with a freebie. And here comes the other part of the problem: I have contacted Freelancer.com's support, and they were completely unable to help; they said it has to be settled between employer and freelancer. In other words, this website is nothing more than a message board, only the take part of your money.

Please beware. This company is unreliable and pointless.

Freelancer.com - They block clients' as well as freelancers' accounts and get the money

They block clients' as well as freelancers' accounts and get the money. That is their business model. Their ceo seem to be clever and lunatic at the same time. If you see his profile on fb he declared himself as female and when asked about this by one of the workers on their fb page he gave a funny answer. Stay away and spread this message as much as possible if you are their victim.

Very true, I agree 100%. This is the complaint I have seen on many Social Media sites as well... We must spread the word - before they fool more people.

Freelancer.com Illegal exchange rate

Hi all

I am am one of the victim of Freelancer.com. First time user from UK i wish i could find this blog before paying money to them.

I did deposit 480 USD (They charged me 492 USD) to my account.

I was trying to create milestones for project,

4 pieces of 120 USD

I did not realised that it is on GBP then i did cancel it. All money came back to my GBP account. I converted them to my USD account.

When i deposited i had

£ 5 and $ 480 in my account.

When i converted i see that i have

$441.52 and £5.00 i have so i lost 38.48 USD in seconds?

USD and GBP exchange rates doesnt change like that in a second? I know the market. I know that guys would like to get profit but that is cheating. There is no that much high profit in Money Exchange Market? And it is impossible.

Then i emailed them and Costumer Service was terrible. They just said they can not fix it and to give my money back they offered more than 2 weeks?

This is scam. I cannot accept it. They can not charge users that much exchange rate this is insane. This is a big scam.

I don't know what to do to be honest. I claimed to get it back on Paypal but it is going to take ages. And they will keep my money god knows for how long.

Shame to do business like that.

Thanks for listening :(

I think we should chat with client and aware him/her for illegal rates and regulations.
Whenever you write email id for personal mail to client freelancer warn you and him/her to stay protected. So here is solution freelancer didnt deduct these words
1)make a jpeg of email id and payment discussion
2) put dot on every letter like( thedesignerz@gmail.com) t.h.e.d.e.s.i.g.n.e.r.z.(at) g.m.a.i.l.c.o.m
So by these step you can get rid of illegal tax rate and for payment you can use other souces and skrill is best for that purpose

I never thought I'd be in a position to look up fine print, but yeah, there's this in their terms and conditions:
45. No Class Actions
You and we agree that you and we will only be permitted to bring claims against the other only on an individual basis and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative action or proceeding. Unless both you and we agree otherwise, the arbitrator may not consolidate or join more than one person's or party's claims and may not otherwise preside over any form of a consolidated, representative, or class proceeding. In addition, the arbitrator may award relief (including monetary, injunctive, and declaratory relief) only in favour of the individual party seeking relief and only to the extent necessary to provide relief necessitated by that party's individual claim(s). Any relief awarded cannot affect other Users.

@Elbar79 I lost a measly $4 but yeah, this is egregiously dishonest. I can't imagine what it would be like uf ai had more m i ney passing through them. You'd think Australia's white collar crime division would do something given the number of reports. I'd be willing to sign anything that is used for reporting them.

I just got hit with the currency exchange scam on freelancer.com

This is actually illegal in Australia and the EU.

At it's most basic level Freelancer.com is executing an illegal Dynamic Currency Exchange, which has already been ruled against many times most recently against Visa who were fined 18million AUD.

I suspect with freelancer they are actually operating an unlicensed foreign exchange brokerage to illegally profit (they exchange at upto 10% above the wholesale rate).

Would anyone be interested in finding out more and making a joint complaint to the regulator if I did the donkeywork?

Freelancer has became a great scammer in the world.
Its full of scam buyers and lots of scam programmers.
I have worked with freelancer for 5+ years. they never care about scammers and provide no support and wont protect neither buyer or worker.

Thy are only looking at new ways to steal our money. they invited some certificate things and charge us to take exams, if we dont we can not bid on many projects.

Thy have made different currencies, so he can steal more because of their illegal ridicules exchange rate.

I got charged for few projects, because buyer rewarded a project to me, and buyer changed his mind and never answered me!
i got charged for nothing and earned nothing.

i hope they were something we could do, im struggling making money for my educations and i have no other choice even though im very skilled in my work.

Hi turantekin,

I am so sorry reading your complaint. I am an illustrator and I worked on freelancer.com until recently. This company is without a doubt, a huge scam. Why? Well my friend, because the exact same thing happened to me. That being only ONE of the problems I have with them. Their exchange rate is illegal. They try to rob and scam people, both freelancers and clients (buyers). It's a shame. I have stopped working with them now. They allow scam freelancers to roam around, as they allow scam buyers. Their e-mail support and live support chat is absolutely ridiculous. They offer no help at all, and all they do is tell you there is nothing they can do. It is clear they are all trying to do one thing: scam you.
There are HUNDREDS of user complaints both from freelancers and buyers about their site. Just search on google. 90% of these involve freelancer.com STEALING their money, blocking accounts as soon as they break 200$, charging buyers TWICE and overall robbing people. And even worse, Freelancer.com just bought/acquired Vworker.com. They are a millionaire company, growing by stealing money, and getting away with it. I would personally take this into my own hands if I could, and sue their ###. But I am just a freelancer looking for work. I cannot afford that.

Well in short mate, don't feel so bad. There are HUNDREDS in your situation and even worse. Oh and did you ever get your money back?

Thank you for sharing.

Freelancer.com This site has become the epitome of online outsourcing by exploiting the workers of third world countries

This site has become the epitome of online outsourcing by exploiting the workers of third world countries. It is a site where freelance employees from around the world, register, pay a monthly fee, proceed to pay fees to take a number of required examinations devised for candidates to prove their knowledge, they then bid on employment contracts for what amounts to be only a couple of dollars per day because you also pay a percentage of what meager funds you might be able to squeeze from a potential employer. The "article writing" section, for example, pays an average of $2 per 300-500. While managing a business some years ago, we paid a firm $3k to design a logo. The average fee for logo design on this site: $25.

Freelancer.com - Account closed, stole my money

Hello ! I just wanted to tell you my brief story so that other people now about these scammers. They suspended my account having 2000$ in milestone payments. l would like to issue a complaint about the company Freelancer.com that is based in NSW, Australia.

Two times I have entered logo design competitions with outcomes that concern fraud.

The most recent instance, was for the Azurix logo competition (that finished over a month ago).

Anyone can go online to Freelancer.com and submit a competition, in this instance it was an Australian man who wanted a new logo for his IT company.

I submitted a design and he ranked it 1 of 2 ‘Top Entries’ in the competition (out of several hundred designs), he also ranked other people through give them lower amounts of ‘stars’ (like you do when you rate things in general).

The competition ended but he did not pick a winning entry. So Freelancer stated on the page:

‘The contest is now locked as the contest holder did not choose a winning entry within 14 days of the contest closing. As the contest is guaranteed, the prize will be automatically shared amongst the top entries in."

The Prize money was $500 AUD.

There was only 2 top entries, my design was 1 of them. There for Freelancer owed me $250 AUD. They only paid me $57.14 AUD, so they owe me $192.86 AUD. They also withheld the prize money ffor no given reason at all.

They said they have not paid me the full amount because they decided to pay money by their star system and not the ‘Top Entries’. Yet their website clearly states that they would give the money to the ‘Top Entries’.

From what I can gather, I believe that they are not distributing the prize money properly, but are keeping some of the money for themselves. Otherwise they should state who they are giving the money too and what designs. It’s total fraud!

The other complaint is towards having competitions without a guaranteed winner. I submitted a design amongst 100 other designers for the Mr Tailor Logo competition 6 weeks ago. Just before the competition ended, the competition holder ‘cancelled’ the competition, running off with over 100 different logo designs and not have paid a cent (except to Freelancer.com). The competition holder could have been from an agency and made direct profit from showing all those logos to a client. Fraud again!

If you Google, ‘Complaint Freelancer.com’ you will see hundreds of review by people having used the site, and being completely taken for a ride.

Now they have stolen another $16 from my account!
Complete and utter fraud.

Freelancer.com Be careful, they are scam

Be careful, they are SCAM. I opened account for our legally registered company, hire one person for one work and put $150 in milestone. Day after this they immediately suspend our account with $200 in full balance, after I provide ID from me and they still refuse to reinstate account with our money in. They need to reply/if 2-3 days, before I upload funds in account they reply in less than 1hr always. They can not require any ID from own customers as they dont have this in terms of service and they are not any type of bank.

THEY JUST WANT THAT YOU UPLOAD FUNDS AND THEN YOU WILL NEVER SEE IT AGAIN, I already call my bank for Chargeback so I will not have loss, but il never again use it!

Freelancer.com - Suspended account

I've read so many complaints about freelancer.com!! Could ever imagine they were so many users with the same problem as mine!... My account was being suspended at the preset date my withdrawn would take place. The suspension became without a warning. The reason was because they discovered that I had a double account. In fact my husband has an account too...

Freelancer.com Scam

Freelancer.com is scam! I have had my account suspended twice! The first time they suspended my account happened a few months ago. I had about $1000 on my account and eventually lost all the earnings (I worked as a freelancer) and got my account terminated. After some time passed I decided to register another account on Freelancer.com. Now the account is suspended again! I have earned $700 that I have had no chance to withdraw. Seems frustrating, isn't it? But I am fine :) They may have my account suspended and terminated, my money stolen, but those swindlers will not be able to steal my knowledge. Omnia mea mecum porto! :)

I will never work on Freelancer.com again because Freelancer.com is scam. Wanna lost your money and waste your time, be sure to visit Freelancer.com! :) That is what I would suggest anyone interested in working on Freelancer.com. So, stay away from it or you may end up writting your own complaints on Complaintsboard.com. ;)

Guys! Let's cooperate against Freelancer.com! My email address is kill-freelancer.[protected]@yandex.ru Feel free to drop me a line!

I had a long time account and was negotiations with a coder and all of sudden without warning my account was closed. I sent an email to support multiple times to resolve this issue and get a refund from my account to no avail. I was told to wait 48 hours for the right team to contact me, and no contact at 72 hours, so I sent another message to support to refund my money. Everytime you turn around they hit you with fees if you use PayPal to make deposits, then they hit you again when you create a milestone, and I understand the freelancers get hit with fees also. I am sick and tired of Free Lancer and all of the bull. If you're looking for a freelancer my advice is to steer clear of this International organization as I was warned multiple times by my bank that the funds were going through multiple international banks.

I joined freelancer.com back in 2010 under username TRACERSA . I worked day and night to establish that profile and after so much of hard work i managed to get 787 REVIEWS, 100% completion rate, 100% on time, 100% on budget and repeat hire rate 49%

Due to an UN INTENTIONAL violation they closed my account . They closed it with a very good TRICK, infact they cheated

Some screenshots of my profile and support email where they said all is good and still they closed it

let me tell all of you what happened with complete proof

I have worked with a customer under freelancer assistance, so called a RECRUITER project and once all was done, customer reversed the payment and i asked the support to help and they said, they cannot do anything if reversal is done

after a week same customer came with new username, i worked he did the same, i didnt knew it before he again reversed the payment and told in chat, STUPID I AM THE SAME GUY, i again informed the support and they did nothing

3rd time again same guy came under new username and location. just to confirm it he is same person or not, i told him i will not work via freelancer i will work via SKRILL, just to test him and check so if he is the same guy he would have not agreed.

he was not the same person, and i took the payment via freelancer, so that i dont breake the RULE, , , then after no where a month afterwards he told freelancer support that i asked him for the payment outside, though we made payment onsite, they issued me with a warning stating i should not do this again, i said sorry and they said not repeat it and i said sure and again said sorry

then after a few days, the recruiter/support agent asked me for a skype call so that they can ask me a few questions, i did that and i was told, now all is good, i am good to work again .. i said sorry again and told them i will not repeat that mistake again and made them feel okay ..

then he asked me a few questions which REALLY shocked me

1- It is not possible to have such stats . there must me some thing fishy . These are his exact words ... i told that agent, my working technique is, i never accept the project, once i complete it, , customer is happy then i accept and take payment . that is the main reason i am able to have such stats

2- He asked me, why i am taking offsite payments, i told him, proof me or send me one screenshot where i asked for outside/off site payment except on that only occasion, he had no answer to it

NOTE: He was just trying to look for any reason to close the profile, i still dont know why

In short after having lots of chats and tickets etc, i was told that i am all good and can continue to work . but before that i need to finish IN PROGRESS projects with perfection

i worked days and night to finish them ASAP .. when i did and received the payments, they SIMPLY closed my account

they claim that i violated TOS many times, just to give them an answer if they are reading, , , there is no where mention in any TOS of preferred freelancer that new task cannot be taken in new project.. i have worked or served this site for 10 years i never knew this, once they informed me i never did it . and they then keep on digging into old projects like 1 year ago... hats off to their team, they clear me or inform me today that i dont repeat this and they checking 1 year or even 2 year old project if i did in old project ... Still i paid all the fee for all projects by pointing myself to get rid of it

In last 8 years i got 2 warning, , , which were not server as they are not clear or mentioned anywhere ... Even their preferred test dont have any such question which state NEW TASK from RECRUITER client cannot be taken in new project

Must add this point in your test so people can be aware of this mysterious hidden rule. I can bet you all, they will never sort this issue as they are a bunch of robbers, playing with others

Freelancer is totally scam. Its not working for Freelancers who are working hard and completes employers project and waiting to get paid but they are carefully listening to employers even they are fraud or scammers. This is third time they limited my bidding system and forcing me to refund the money to employer for the work which i already completed and get payment. After getting payment by the employer for completed work employer made a false allegations about my work via support ticket and asked support for refund and Support team without checking everything and reading my discussion with employer directly restricted my bidding system. Complete fraud platform. Not recommended also going to make people aware about my bad experience and i will post my review throughout the web..

Attempted to steal my bank account.
Imagine my surprise tonight when my husband and I went out to eat and my card was declined? Immediately went home and found "Freelancer.com" had several attempts today to take money out of my bank account. Thank goodness my bank locked down my card and it is now closed. I don't have a clue how they got my information but don't trust this company. I have never had any dealings with them. I have filed a fraud complaint that will be followed up on. Crooks.

I created freelancer account and deposited funds in the account. Funds was 200 $. From that day, I did not make any transaction. I did not hire any person, I only deposited funds.

Yesterday they close my account and got the money by saying you have violated Clause 23.

When I did not use my account from a week, I only deposited funds in there, How I violate the terms?

They are playing with me and took the money, They are scammers. They are not replying on tickets. i also text them on Facebook but no hopeful response...

Why ?

I was charged $390 for a $250 project. I never received my model and contacting customer service is impossible. I filed a dispute with my cc company but it seems Freelance has done their homework and had some fine print contract that allows them to be paid without customer satisfaction. The above complaints reflect my story so I won't bother repeating the same. Bottom line FREELANCE is a scam that is raking in millions. Buyer beware.

Freelancer.com Refused to reverse fees of $150 after reversing project fee

Got a project on their site. Was paid an advance. Was charged $150 for the job, started the job. The client suddenly charged back the amount. I complained as follows: I received this message from you: "We are writing to inform you that the payment you received for "xxxxxxxxxxxx"' has been reversed. We received a charge back from the payment gateway and in accordance with our terms and conditions we've reversed the funds. I suggest that you stop working on this project and contact the buyer to resolve the issue. "
I responded " Since no payment has been paid to me (rather, your website has wasted my time by putting me in touch with doubtful characters). I owe you no payment. Please reverse the 10% you were taking from me as a commission. I shall make payment only if I am paid."

They replied" Unfortunately, commission fees are no longer refundable once the project has already been awarded to a Provider. Please contact your Buyer regarding your reversed payment and please make sure to settle the negative balance of $150 within 35 days to avoid your account from getting suspended."
I think this is unfair and arbitrary. They protect themselves, but refuse to protect you. Why should I be charged for deficiency of services from their end? Can some one get me justice?
Mean while, beware of this site and avoid it.

Same thing happen to us, 4 times in last 35 days, Freelancer really sucks,
I am in total loss of ~1000 USD

I was member of Scriptlance before freelancer acquired Scriptlance, I never faced any fraudulent issues with Scriptlance. I am also using Elance and ODesk(not often) no issues till now.

I request other freelancer who read this post not to use freelancer.com, They don't give proper explanation, Their standard answer
"The funds you have received from your employer, *****, on your project "*************" was reversed because they currently have account issues. We would appreciate if you can contact them and ask them to communicate with us for us to assist them regarding this matter. Once they are able to resolve their account issues, the funds will be reinstated accordingly"

If we can directly talk to employer and can manage payment directly then why we are paying project fees to you ?

Freelancer.com - Please improve your verification process, currently anyone is coming and making fraud with your freelancers

Freelancer.com Freelancer.com let hirer stole my work and money

The Hirer nick is stocksforbeginne in Freelancer.com is the man that has stolen my 100 hours work at freelancer.com. This man Goran Dolenc is known that he is a head of a foreign securities trading GBD BPD Joint Stock Company in Slovenia that made me believed that he will pay. The company sounds good with reputation. But this man has a problem with that. In the beginning, he showed up as a good man, a good employer who created some jobs for freelancers to do in freelancer’s site. He chose me first to do first job with collection information of 41 air-conditioner manufacturers in their sites. I have done it well. Although there were some minor mistakes he gently told me to fix and I corrected and he paid me rightly no question. He made me thought that he a good employer for any freelancers when he tells mistakes to fix. Well then the third object he created was a very difficult one that had to fill in data of over 500 products with nearly 100 columns of details. In the description he said that almost the data of the job had filled, only 1/3 was missing needed to fill in. I bid for it and he gave me. But then I found out that only 10% of the job data was there. A huge data of those different products were missing, only some products have full data in their original sites with specification PDF or section. Other sites don’t show that I have to search a lot in the internet.

I have done the job very hard over 100 hours with headache. There are a lot of data missing and placed everywhere or hidden. But I have finished them with my best of collection possible. I sent him back. He took very long time to check and then he ignored to pay me the job as $100 that I have been charged already $10 in the beginning for the freelance.com. He said that he found out 10 mistakes in that sheet and he didn’t give me any chance to correct them and said that he was not going to pay because of 1 mistake. That is really ### that everyone would know. That job is not an exact data document he gave me to be perfect. Even it is exact, minor mistakes would occur as it’s inevitable. I had explained to him with all information I am able to make him understand. But he seemed not to understand at all. He didn’t reply to me with understandable reasons. He is trying to run away with no payment for the worker that has done a job for him with a lot of effort. I believe that he will do the same to others.

I have tried to contact him with all information I have to get my payment. But he ignored to respond and refused to pay for it. And he also withdrew the milestone and made my account at freelancer.com suspended with no good reason. In total he has stolen $115 from me.

I also complained to freelancer.com but they don't offer any protection for freelancer. They also suspended my account with $5 in it, they also charged $10 of the project price in advance. They said that stocksforbeginne (Hirer) put a complaint about my job and about the truth I said on the site. They said that I have to contact the Hirer to settle that. They let him cancel the %50 milestone in the beginning. They appear that they are not responsible for the payment the freelancer at all. They took away from me $15 and let Goran Dolenc (stocksforbeginne) stole my work and $100 payment.

Freelancer.com is bad and the Hirer Goran Dolenc (stocksforbeginne) is bad too. I don't recommend anyone to trust both of them. You will loose your time, work and money for them. Securities company is built with trust but not for this company with bad leading personnel.

We would like to take your kind support and help in exposing off one of the biggest scam and fraud company with the name Freelancer.com Run by Matt Barrie who is the so called CEO of the company.
The company has always been in the news and press for providing one of the best platform for outsourcing but after surveying and searching the internet for past 2 months and after having a personal bitter experience with the company and a long discussion with their CEO we would like to state that the company is nothing but merely a HUB of scams and fraud. This company is not only doing internet frauds and scams but also spoiling the name of the country in which it is registered.
We registered as a service provider on the website 2 months back and won lot of projects online, our clients created milestone payments for us using their paypal accounts and all of a sudden company blocked our account without any reasons.
They asked for verification documents in such a manner that we got furios for the issue. The company asked us not to cross mark anything on the documents and also asked the owner of the company to send their passport and a verification code in both the hands and send them the pictures. This kind of verification made us quite suspect along with their statement that we must not darken or blurt or put any cross mark for our safety on the documents.
When searching on the internet we also found out that this company use to steal the identity of people and rip off them for their money. They use the id proof and documents of their site users for scams and frauds which involve money.
They Also usually suspend the accounts of the users when they are about to withdraw the money for their hardwork which they have done online. Apart then this company also suspends the accounts of the users who have some money in their accounts in the form of milestone payments and then mentally harass them to send multiple documents and never reinstate their accounts.
They also never refund the payments back to the project owners who had made the payments for the freelancer and neither they withdraw the money to freelancers. This way the company is running a huge huge scam online and both the project owners and freelancers are harassed.
One such incident occured with us when our clients with their username itgenie, eloko, proshopexpert made the milestone payments of 200 USD each and asked us to start the project, all of a sudden our accounts were suspended and our money with them freezed.
We sent them multiple emails, talked to their staff which really has very very poor customer support service. But no resolution was made, they also denied to refund the money to our clients and also didnt allowed us to withdraw the money, it was paypal who supported us at that moment and helped us to get our money back from freelancer.com which we paid to the company for getting the gold membership.
Finally we agreed to send them our documents but only on condition that we also requested them to send the documents of their company, their legal status, registration certificates along with the documents of the owner of the company in order to ensure that the company is a registered legal company and our documents are going in safe hand, but company denied to send us stating that they have strict privacy policy and they never send their documents for cross verification- which again made us suspect of the company.
You can check the authencity of our email by checking freelancer.com scam, freelancer.com fraud, getafreelancer.com scam, getafreelancer.com fraud and google will direct you to various websites like www.###lancer.in, /link removed/ www.scam.org.
All the above three portals will have hundreds and hundreds of complaints against this company.
I strongly believe that the staff of this company must be put behind the bars for ripping off the users for their hard earned money.
with warm regards
Nitin Naresh

I'm in a similar position, Freelancer.com has stolen my money. I posted a job on freelancer.com. The winning bidder tried to do the job, but he could not, so he told me he is refunding the money. He sent me a screen shot showing that he made the refund, but Freelancer is not processing the refund. The bidder does not have the money anymore, Freelancer.com has the money, but will not send it on to me (as the bidder requested). When I complained, they suspended my account. The support people do not answer tickets and live support keeps getting turned off by them (the site will suddenly say live support is unavailable) as soon as I ask what is going on. When I asked them for their legal department, they said they do not have one. When I asked to communicate with a manager (to get this issue fixed), they said they don't have any managers. When I asked for the support department email, to create a ticket, they gave me a fake email, and my email message to support (requesting a ticket be opened) just bounced. Bottom line, the bidder does not have my money, I don't have my money, Freelancer.com does have my money. They are not willing to communicate properly to fix this issue. In my opinion they are thieves, and I think they are stealing people's money with intent. They give Australia and Singapore a very bad name.

Note to Freelancer.com, if you say that "...Please note that we do not respond to customer issues on public forums...", which I see posted throughout this site and others, then why are you posting? These posts are a response, albeit a "canned response" nonetheless. And the nature of these responses also demonstrate your lack of interest and indifference to your alleged theft and or other alleged actions - Particularly when your own support team claims there is no legal department (for Freelancer).

Freelancer.com is dangerous ... I agree with you, I was suspended also...and I can tell you more!

First I will tell that whatever you do you are monitored, they collecting data about you, starting with IP and end with worse things that you can not figure out. In addition, this system has several drawbacks pit:
1. All the information you post on this website remain archived at them, so it's better to not transfer something through it, but if the buyer refuses to pay for your services or cloth that have been shared outside of this system then you risk not being paid!
2. All the money you've worked are strange checked,
3. Withdraw system are ###, until you do not pass through it you do not know how it work, be carefull...
4. Very Big high commissions, Rather, they make money on you than you on yourself...
5. In general the system is very low ! You can use your bids with no succes, if a project is canceled you loss bid for nothing, and more stupid things like this ... all they do is to make profit from everything that can benefit without servicing to examine the quality that renders them, if you want to put more bids buy Gold member, if you want to make your bid noted then pay, if you want withdraw or upload money then pay a little bit more..., if you was awarded then pay, if funds was transfered from awarded project then pay again...also there a lot of something for buyers and freelancers ... Work stupid! We will make money on you! ... Naive is crazy!
6. ...
7. ...
8. ...
9. ...
10. ...
11. ...
12...
13 ... ###, ### and nothing more!

Also if you will open their first page you will see:

Reduce Costs
Pay as little as $30. The
average job is under $200!

World Class Security
Only pay once you are
100% satisfied.

LOL! So no interest for freelancers people who want to work, Think!
Freelancer.com ant their team must be ignored!
Don't use their service.

Freelancer.com Account locked

I have now been locked out of my account with Freelancer.com since July. There's no reason it should be. I've been a user on this website for over 3 years with no issues/disputes at all. My password was just suddenly one day not working. I attempted to do the "forgot password" but no email ever came after that. I emailed customer support and let them know the automated forgot password was not working for me.

I have sent multiple emails to their support email. They always reply with some form letter with a link to the "forgotten password" automated thing that I've tried countless time.

For a minute they blamed it on their system saying the automated system wasn't functioning correctly. That lasted about a minute before they went to blaming me saying it must be going to a spam filter. I host my own email so I know for a fact that is not the case. Plus I get 25 emails a day from them with "New Projects" that I never asked to receive. There are no email issues on my end.

I contact them over and over and just keep getting the run around. I have money in my account and quite a few feedback from buyers. If the automated email isn't working, they should just ask me to call in so I can manually reset this but they insist this automated way is the only way to reset the password. That is utter ###. There has to be another way.

So I guess they just get my money and I go somewhere else. BEWARE of this site. The company is outside the US so I don't have any legal action to take. I just suck it up and learn my lesson.

Freelancer support is not responding from 2 days even they are claiming they will contact in 24 hours. My account was hacked and someone post contest from my account, I immediately inform there support about the situation, they changes my account password and sent mail saying that I clean my pc and then respond to there ticket I wipe out my computer and respond to ticket, since than I sent several mails to support but no one is responding, I begged in my mails that I have commitment with clients I have to give them updates at least giv me access to my account and on the other hand you can do your vitrification or what ever you want to do. We have permanent clients and always insist them to use freelancer as it is secure for both buyer and freelancer but this behavior is disappointed

I have luckily not lost any money to them. But have definitely gotten the runaround. I thought that I was registered and kept having problems logging in, so I checked the reset password didn't recieve anything, yes checked spam, nothing. So I wrote them and they said that I'd cancelled my account. I was lik huh... I wonder why. So I asked them to reopen it and they said sure I'm all set. But I don't know my password so I clicked, once again to have it resent. Nothing came. That was 4 hours ago. I wrote back the latest person who contacted me telling them of this sitch and still no reply. Oh, now I see why I must have cancelled it. This is BS. I don't know what kind of game they're playing. But until and unless they actually resolve these issues, give people the money they earn, etc. Instead of responding on here with a bunch of crap, then I'm done. They're not getting any more of my time and energy.

I to have fallen victim to Freelancer.com and the way they con people out of money. I opened an account and started to work with a Freelancer who had over five thousand positive reviews. I transferred money from my Paypal account to Freelancer (which for some reason cost me $11) and then put this into a bank account (assuming where Freelancer earn interest) which could not be touched by either party until the project was completed.

The work was completed to the required standard however when I went to release the funds Freelancer had 'Locked' me out of my account and asked for ridiculous information ranging from one which was to photograph myself holding a sign with certain numbers on it and another to explain how I know the contractor on Freelancer.

Of course I could not get my money back and the freelancer could not be paid. After 20 emails backwards and forwards with Freelancer all of which did not provide any help or a serious response to the fact that they had stolen my money I just charged back the money through Paypal. THEY QUICKLY AGREED TO THIS REFUND VIA PAYPAL (WITHIN 24 HOURS) AS OBVIOUSLY THEY DO THIS ALOT AND THEY DONT WANT TO LOSE THEIR PAYPAL ACCOUNT. OF COURSE IF THEY HAD ANY RIGHT TO STEAL YOUR MONEY THEY WOULD FIGHT IT OUT VIA THE DISPUTE PROCESS IN PAYPAL.

In short dont use Freelancer unless you want them to steal $600 like they did to me. ALL OF THESE PEOPLE CANNOT BE WRONG.

@Freelancer Support. APPRECIATE MY ***! You know what? I wouldn't care about your fees, I wouldn't care about your humiliating policies (who are you to order me to send my picture holding my ID)... I even wouldn't care for you suspending my account when my withdrawal order is due within a day... What you made my day is you DUMB customer support. Who are those people? Robots? Dumbest freelancers recruited at the very beginning? Or just those corporate vermon taking satistaction from not caring? When I use your email or live support I get into meaningless conversation with a person who has no clue about my case and claims that he is not in power to help me. If I pay good money for your "services" I expect reasonable quality of support at least. Otherwise I can say it: FREELANCER.COM IS A SCAM!

Freelancer.com Scam via account suspension

Scam indeed! My account is suspended. I've lost $800 that I've earned hard working on Freelancer.com every single day for a month and a half! Now nobody relies to my ticket, those online "supporters" ask me to wait, and no one is doing anything! How will I survive with no money? How will I maintain my family with no money? A fat lot they care!

Australia should be ashamed of having freelancer.com on its board, such a scam, fake, i also got rigged by freelancer.com, i am manipulated twice by them, first time, it was my client unknown to me, who paid me around 220 USD and freelancer made a reversal and told me that we have sent money back to the client cause he violated our terms and conditions and we have closed his account, luckily we both were also in contact out side freelancer.com, i asked him if he got his money back or not he said no i am not having my money back from freelancers.com, i thought he is lying, any way i just compromised, this time my client was my close friend he gave me an order i fulfilled and he transferred me the money, after some time freelancer.com again made a reversal and again said we have sent the money back and close client's account as he violated us, my luck this time he was my close friend i even check his back transaction statement my self, and believe me guys there was no money back from freelancer.com, seriously Australia is abused cause of this scam, Australia is ashamed,

we are a limited company in the uk which in itself is a legat entity with 1 job completed by a freelancer.
we paid him and left money on deposit for the next project.
then the verification process of which were already verified?
no they want personal id and a mugshot with their number.
After a lengthy 1 minute board meeting we have decided to contact our credit card company for a full refund af all monies paid.
Absolutely disgusting misleading practises should be investigated.

Freelancer just emptied the money from my account, just because the guy who gave me the project did not complete his verification. I am with freelancer for more than 7 years. I told them, it is his freewill I really can not interfere with other people’s freewill. What benefit he has to complete the verification process?

I completed my verification process by providing all my ids faithfully. But asking other people to submit their id is not really with in my control. If freelancer want this kind of verification to be done, then they have to make the verification to be completed before accepting money from the client.
I trusted Freelancer and I released my work to him. Where is the security for my work that was delivered to him? I am just small people working hard and making just small wages like few hundred dollars. And Freelancer is literally treating their members like as if they are part of a terrorist organization or something. There is a limit to police the activities on the website, this seems like too extreme. I did all the things they asked me to do and submitted every document they requested, regardless of that they want to reverse my hard earned money.

I would really recommend them to work for CIA or FBI, they are more suitable for that kind of job, they do not know how to care for the hard work their members did.

Why I am being the middle man between Freelancer and the guy who gave me the project to ask him submit their documents for the project that was completed and closed? I really pitty the people who have suffered similar fate like me.

I would really recommend people to move away from this site slowly, even there are many other similar sites who take higher margin, but it is more safer platform than Freelancer. What is the point can you imagine you are with them for 7 years, and suddenly just because of one issue they take away your money or block the account? Especially when we have so many customers and reputation, all these takes years to build, which they can just simply block with one click? No one should be in such a dire situation.

Just because of their own incapacity to make others complete the verification process, they just wiped my money from my account. Does anyone see any humanity in such a thing? I can only see a monstrous attitude with absolutely no care.

STAY AWAY from this site, don’t even waste a second anymore on this site.

I just wanted to tell you my brief story so that other people now about these scammers. They suspended my account having 2000$ in milestone payments. The reason they did this was because I logged in some months ago using somebody else's computer. He also had a Freelancer.com account but they did not suspend his account because he had no money in it !

They are probably interested in stealing your money because that mistake I was talking about happened almost 6 months before my account got closed.

I hope I can get the money back so I can stay away from them in the future...

Plus $500 worth of withdrawable funds... they closed our account without notifying us the reasons why. this happened twice already. at first they froze $300 worth or funds from us, their reason is that, we are not verified. after we verified the account still our money was frozen... now the second time, they scammed us again... For all freelancers out there. Be careful with your money... Don't use freelancer.com.. they are scammers.

Freelancer.com Ruthless behavior of gaf

My account has been closed without any warnings or any thing. I had more than 50 reviews and a lot of happy clients.
All I was told once is that my account has been closed for posting unprofessional posts.
I sent atleast 10 complaints and all of the were forwarded to "higher management" I never got any reply back from the higher management. I found out that those who are helping online consider me a piece of ### just like their top management does.
My business has been suffering alot, I am losing my clients but no one really bothers. Now its been over a week and I have not received any reply on my tickets.

We dont fukin pay the commission on each project and our gold member fee as a charity to freelancer.com. They deduct it and hence they are not doing any favor to us. They just cannot be the GODs who can do any thing to ruin any one's business.

Highly un-happy customer.

Whatever you wrote above is not true. They might have asked you your identity just to make sure that you are not using multiple accounts.
Also when they say no transiction outside freelancers and no contact information sharing is allowed then you must follow that.
I faced the same problem, though it took a couple of weeks but the problem was solved by their CEO. If you are nice and honest, there is no problem with this company.

Thanks!
The I tried emailing to those emails which you already told above. The problem was solved but it took them around a month to solve that. As a result, I started losing interest and I am now a happy member of few other sites like elance and odesk. I am still active on GAF but not as I used to. In just 6 months, I had more than 60 Reviews both as a freelancer and as a providor. But now for last 3 months I hardly have any review.
I guess it was just that break which kept my account blocked for a month. Some one who is making his living by freelancing cannot sit idle for a month so unfortunately I had to move to elance and odesk with my clients.
The purpose of writing them on public forum was to let other know of this so called fair attitude.

I know this is slightly off topic but you must know - Elance abuses your Privacy!
I have just been informed by a 3rd party that elance released my transaction history! This 3rd party (that disclosed he was a 3rd party) approached elance, he is is not a registered user of elacne, there was no subpoena, no warrant and no request from any law enforcement agency but this 3rd party was able to send several well crated emails to elance inquiring about my account, acting as a 3rd party and was able to get access to my transactional history.

Be warned - elance they do NOT protect your privacy.

Here's the BS They gave me

You were suspended due to security reasons. Upon checking your project "xxxxx, " we found out that you were completely paid for it (03/04/2011 at 20:39 EST) approximately ten hours after it was awarded to you by user xxxx (03/04/2011 at 10:12 EST). We also checked your Private Message Board and we found out that there is no discussion regarding the details of the project.

In order for us to reactivate your account, please explain first your relationship with user "xxx" and how your project materialized.

In addition to that, please provide a picture of you holding your driver's license and the verification code "MVNSD343" written on a piece of paper. This is the sample of the photo that we need for verification:

http://oi56.tinypic.com/2ufam4i.jpg

We hope for your understanding and cooperation since this verification is for security purposes. We have a Privacy Policy regarding the submission of documents to our website. Also, Your ID will not be sold, archived or recycled. It will be deleted immediately after the verification process is complete.

We will wait for your response.

My response - WTF?!?!? are you kidding me? fxxx you!

we agreed to send them our documents but only on condition that we also requested them to send the documents of their company, their legal status, registration certificates along with the documents of the owner of the company in order to ensure that the company is a registered legal company and our documents are going in safe hand, but company denied to send us stating that they have strict privacy policy and they never send their documents for cross verification- which again made us suspect of the company.

Freelancer.com Unprofessional and humiliating experience

Recently I had a very bad experience with a site called freelancer.com. I am a very senior level software developer and joined this site to get some projects. I got few projects and got paid from employers. All of sudden I got an email that my account has been suspended and I have to provide my ID. When I provided my ID they asked for my photo with ID it was very humiliating experience for a senior level experience from a website that doesn't have phone number on their website. I searched on internet and found a lot of complaints about the simillar issue. They claim that they have solved all the issues but I want to ask this who gave them rights to block access to the money that was earned and paid their service charges.

It was a very humiliating experience that I have never had in my life. I didn't fight with them as they are not in the US. I know few site owned by American companies and they care for providers and empoyers very much.

I just wanted to share my experience with you guys.

I will start with the paper that is located near their office.

you dont have any sort of legitimate reason to take my funds plus no proof stating that moneybookers took chargeback.
U freelancer.com are crooks, frauds and just scamming ppl.
till nw i ws taking this all as being normal but now i m in full swing nd going to take serious legal action by accumulating my legal advisors/solicitors and submitting proof/content directly into IC3.
Furthermore i m preoaring a strategy to simply get ur [censored]house (freelancer.com) banned because u r proposing spamming as well as scamming content, that cause problem to the security of sites like ebay, craigslist, facebook, gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc. U consider that simple copy pasting similar messages would resolve this matter? No u either have to provide proofs or deposit my amount on my moneybookers.
Still if u consider that aforementioned are only words then let this wednesday approach.
Thanks.

So if by this Mon-Tue 31 May-1st June 2010, i do not get my funds or legitimate response, then this would be only thing i will go for.
This GAF support always belie there own words, and the complete history of chats(with 1:Shiela in which she raised the problem, i.e. SARAAN and SARAAN1 id and other is with 2:Manuel who said that funds are chargebcak by moneybookers), emails as well as accounts will be observed.

Hi,
First of all, i have not committed any thing wrong and have no connections with any person... Last provider, i.e Webbydes is regarding CL posting tasks and i dont know more about them...
But after asking further i came to know that in last times they had troubled with this SCAMMING-PLACE freelancer.com and then they reported here on complaintsboard (undergiven is a link of their report(s)) and then they took their funds back from them...

And now i am going to recruit a Legal Advisor in this matter. I got all proves and will certainly take my funds deposited to my moneybookers account soon.

I had the same luck with freelancer.com, they have kept my account with $ 523 dollars, researching on the web, I saw similar cases.
Almost 4 years working through them ... but the problem began when customers paid by escrow.
They requested an ID written in English, I am Argentine .. and my ID is written in Argentina, which is why they keep my money. BE CAREFUL WITH ESCROW

I worked 4 days hard on 2 projects. Was first work for me in over six months. I was glad I got the work...
I was able to send 35 to payoneer, after fees I made 20.00. I then tried to send 135.00 to my Payoneer card.
Freelance is holding 140.00 of my pay now 26 days.
I contacted support and suddenly their support say's that there "might" be fraud payments in my account. All payments were allready on hold for 15-23 days and have cleared from the clients.. They (Freelancer) use the fraud claim as excuse to not pay out. The only fraud going on is by Freelancer.
I realy need my pay for food. I am planning on doing some art about Freelancer now. It will be sent to every news media in the world.
This art will close Freelancer. I will also post it here when I am done.
I may even print it on T-shirts to offer. Looks like many others have been scamed by Freelancer. Life is hard, not getting paid for work has made it even harder. Freelancer is a scam. To bad they are so far away from me or I would pay them a visit.

Hello.

This is the legal team from Freelancer.com.

The above provide has had their account permanently closed for ripping off another user. The funds have been reversed back to the employer.
This provider is in cohort with a group of providers which pretend they are from the USA but are actually from Pakistan. They have been
nothing but trouble for us. We expect them to post lots of messages on sites like this as this is their modus operandi after one of their other
accounts was banned for similar activities.

We aim to provide a fair marketplace for small businesses. We actively will weed out providers that try to scam our users like this one.

The project cost me thousands of dollars and required several people to complete. I made a deposit in my account, and transferred the final balance to the provider. Several hours later the...

Sometime last year, someone signed up with them using my name and email. Upon receiving unsolicited email from them, I told them to remove my email address from their system, to no avail. And since I didn't create the account in the first place, I can't login to remove myself from their email list.

To this day, these people keep sending keep sending me unsolicted emails. "Annoying" is too weak a word.

You can check the authencity of our email by checking freelancer.com scam, freelancer.com fraud, getafreelancer.com scam, getafreelancer.com fraud and google will direct you to various websites like www.[censor]lancer.in, /link removed/ www.scam.org.
All the above three portals will have hundreds and hundreds of complaints against this company.
I strongly believe that the staff of this company must be put behind the bars for ripping off the users for their hard earned money.
with warm regards
Nitin Naresh
