I received a call, caller id showed Phoenix, AR [protected]). Rep. with strong accent stated that I had been selected to receive $125 Gas card and $600 Grocery and she wanted my card number just to verify that I was the authorized card holder and she wanted the expiration date. Her company would be mailing out the cards that I had won free, only with a $5.95 shipping fee that needed to be charged to my card the day after I was going to receive the free cards. She needed to make sure that the logos matched and needed to know if it was VISA or MC. When I refused to give her any numbers she said that her supervisor could explain it better. Then a man with even more of an accent told me that his name was Love Williams and that his id number was 1104 and that his company is in collerabtion with VISA & MC to give away these free cards to the customers that already have cards and use them at Walmart and the grocery stores and gas stations. I refused to give him my card numbers, he started to get upset. I then told him that I wanted his number to call him back once I thought about it. He didn't give me a number but hung up instead. Please do not give your numbers out to any one and please be careful of scams like this.

Explain your situation, better. What happened? Did you sign up for "magazines for free?"? I would delete the credit/debit card immediately! They start taking money out left and right!

I just received a telephone call from my home phone number. Some lady that I could barely understand (because of her accent) was trying to give me a free $100 giftcard for Walmart for being a good customer and paying my bills. The lady already had my name and address. I listened and then she wanted my credit card number and expiration date and I hesitated. I told her I was not sure about this and she transferred me to some other guy who tried to get it. I finally told him I was not interested and hung up on him. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!

So I called back. I got exchanged from person to person. They explained to me how the company that handles the people in the beginning is not the actual number we get later or the people we pay. The people I'm supposed to pay speak English very clearly. The bill went from $974 (prices may be a little off, not real sure) to $642 to $360. I just have to assume they would probably keep going down with the price. I'll call at a later time and talk to someone else and see what I can do.
However, I will never again even listen to anybody on a number I don't recognize or know! Never again.

In Oct, somebody called (a foreign lady with a very thick accent) and was talking about a free walmart and gas card. I'm 18 and I was thinking, "well, uh, okay, " FREE GAS, sure! I don't remember anything else. She had my dedit card information already, which was kinda weird, I thought. So I cancelled that card and then I started to receive magazines. And then bills! Bills started coming in saying I haven't paid for the magazines. I sent them a letter Dec. 5, told them to not send me anything else, that I don't remember signing up, etc; I received another bill the other day. I called them SEVERAL TIMES. They wouldn't pick up. I finally got somebody today. The first person who answered got "disconnected". Same for the next two. Finally I talked to this lady who told me that I could cancel but my bill was 900 dollars. I almost fainted. She then said she could reduce the bill to 600 dollars out of the kindness of heart! My god. I told her to take me of the list, do not send me any more magazines. I don't want anything! She told me that I was due to pay 200 dollars once a month starting in Feb. I just hung up. I don't know what to do, now. I guess, I'm stuck paying the money. I'm going to call back again tomorrow and tell them all my complaints. Probably cry a little. Any advice?

I also got a call from a man with an Indian accent telling me about a $300 gift card to Walmart and a free vacation for 3 people to any 5 star hotel. After asking him a lot of questions, I searched online while still on the phone and found this blog. I just declined his offer a minute ago. Never trust these kinds of offers.

I feel so foolish because after speaking to an indian man with a thick accent named Matt Wilson for over 3 hrs, I finally decided to give my credit card number to him to receive a 600 walmart giftcard and 300 gas card. He promised me and vowed that this was not a scam. However, he had someone call me back name Gavin Dawson, who put me on a line to agree to the charge of 4.40 for a shipping and handling charge, but the verification included me listening to a message about magazine subscriptions after the verification he asked if i was married and where i worked. I didnt answer those questions, but I asked him why he was asking and he said for verification purposes. When I did not answer, he hung up on me. I inconviently blocked/cancelled the credit card. But, I figure, I rather be safe than sorry.

I got a call last night. Same thing a guy with a thick accent, said that I had won a 100$ giftcard from walmart and that he would send me a bunch of discount coupons as well. His name is Frank Vargas and had a 1 877 number. He said that he only needed 3.95 for shipping and handling. then I though how did you say that I won? I have only used cash at Wal-mart for the past year. He said that I used a card within the last week, which is a lie because I have deactivated any card that could have been used. Then I started to wonder how he got my phone number because it's a brand new number that is not even listed. He started to get aggitated when I told him that I did not have any money on my debit cards. He said not even a dollar so that I can authorize this and send you your giftcard? I said no, I dont use it anymore. He kept trying to persuade me to let him call me back tomorrow after I put money on the card. I said no thank you and hung up.

They said they would send me a $100 gift cad if I gave them my "customer registration #" on the front of my card and when I told them thats my credit card # he wanted to argue. So I hung up. Later he called back trying to sound nice and when I asked for his phone number he said I have to give him my card number first so of course I hung up

Same thing happened to me woman with a heavy accent said she was calling from AZ. She wanted to give me a free $100. gift card that could be used for gas, food, Target or Walmart. She claims that she need a 3.95 fee which could be paid after I bought a Visa Gift Card from Walmart and gave her the expiration date on the card.
she called from [protected]

She already had my address. Which is a bit scarry.

I too was offered the same rewards. they have all been a scam. This company should be made to pay everyone thier money back, and give the people what they said they would!

Pissed off that they can get by with this when everyone is struggling to make ends meet!

They should be sued!

Yes, I got a very similar call for a free 100 dollar Walmart card and 100 dollar gas card and all I had to do was pay 3.95 shipping and handling and they would mail it to me and they needed to verify the expiration of my credit card. Which makes me wonder what credit card they had in the first place. The "$3.95" was mentioned so many times in the conversation made me think that they sure were wanting that 3.95 awfully bad. I told them this sounds like fraud and told them to quit calling my cellphone number and mail me the information. Of course they would have my address right? lol... I hung up. Not sure if it's legitimate or not, but I'm not risking identity fraud for it. They have called 5 times now. Numbers calling me have been [protected].

You got scammed. The actual businesses are not sending you these emails.
