Florida Power & Light [FPL] 24hr light shut off

FPL employee knocks on my door, 1 year old toddler was crying by the time I open the door he already left. When I see someone walk towards the parking lot I asked him if he was knocking at my door. He said look on your door knob your light has been cut off. With the toddler in my hand still crying, I told him I thought it was due on the 26th, today the is 29th he said "nope" I told him I can either call and make a payment over the phone or give him a check, right away. It was 86 degrees outside and I was cooking for my family at the time. He said nope once I cut it off someone else has to come and turn it back on. Are you Kidding? I actually begged him because I had to feed my kid and it was too hot outside, he shruggs and walked away. I said Sir please but it back on because I have to feed my kid. He did not even look back. Tears were actually coming from my eyes because my four year old would be home soon and I would not be able to provide food that day. I ran inside and made a payment within seconds. 24hrs would be when they can turn it back. Spoke with a supervisor, nothing we can do 24hrs. They did not put it back on until 10am the next day. What a bunch of cruel employees. Not only did I lose the little groceries, milk for kids and meat in freezer I had left but also no food, I had to collect change to go buy food for them. Why 24hrs to put service back on. Comcast, the minute you pay your bill once the payment go through the tv is back on. Telephone once you paid it is back in service. I hate this company and anyone that works for it should rot in Hell for being so heartless. I can't believe he left when I told him I would pay right away just so they can charge me $17.00. I woulds still pay the $17.00 as long as they turn the light back on. I HATE THIS COMPANY AND WISH I CAN GO AND FIND ANOTHER.

If you cannot afford to feed your children and pay your bills on time then stop spreading your legs. The company is not cruel. Why not find the daddies of your children and have them pay to support you. I have a suggestion, how about getting rid of your internet access and use that to buy food for your children. You sound like a bitter person and immature, do your children a favor and give them to their fathers and have nothing to do with them.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] disability discrimination

Reasonable Accommodation and Disability Discrimination:

I am required by law to say that term prior to even saying Hello and it is a royal pain to me to state it as it seems that many people that are
not necessarily ignorant not stupid but unaware that the only way they can legally respond while living in the USA is "What is your Reasonable
Accommodation" which in essence when those people that respond to me do not state it are violating my Civil Rights as they are not accepting what Title
111 of the ADA is.

I contacted FPL and spoke with several people at first stating what was required of myself by a Federal Law and after the obvious results wherein
people did not accept that the US Government classified my disability literally as my vulgar language without the ability to form the intent to get angry which when I do I most likely will say something extremely Vulgar, obscene, or
grotesque although I am not psychic to what will occur in the future. After stating the term of Reasonable Accommodation to over 8 people on individual calls to FPL that were all recorded with my knowledge prior to getting angry I had many individuals state out loud on their recorded line that they did not like my language which is the US Social Security Disability. Then I proceeded in future calls each time when calling back making conference calls to two or more people starting with Sandra and Cecile, then to Bernadette and
two others, then to Junior and Glennesha who did eventually get a supervisor on the line MS/Mrs/Mz. Bluntson who in essence did not accept
my Reasonable Accommodation statement and give it credit as the Federal law it is and she effectively antagonized me beyond belief in addition to violating my civil rights since she could not understand that the only way I can effectively
communicate to anyone is when they accept the Reasonable Accommodation statement and until they do legally I am not allowed to say even as much as to the why I am calling which if I did not have this disability which is protected by the shield laws concerning the ADA then I would be glad just to tell anybody the reason why I am calling them.

If people do not the respect Federal Laws concerning the ADA.

Then what if is was provable with quantifiable evidence that when I get purposely antagonized by anybody that does not accept the Federal Law called
Title 111 or Reasonable Accommodation that my cortisol thyroid heart muscles and a
myriad of other physical changes occur or could occur forcing a heart attack or a potential stroke could be linked to something that is equivalent to
psychological warfare, then what if I propose that the people that initiate this against me could be charged with a HATE crime which carries a criminal and jail time penalty.

After I said Reasonable Accommodation. The people at FPL disregarded the term and violated my Civil
rights.

Per the ADA (Americans with Disabilities FEDERAL ACT) regulations. The Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice is responsible for the
enforcement of Title III of the ADA. When any company or retailer fails to comply with any of the ADA public accommodation requirements, regardless of how minor or how severe the violation that
retailer can be sued for disability discrimination via the DOJ first or an individual second.

I have a United States Social Security Disability
Impairment Code 2940, which is a combination of Tourettes (use of Vulgar language) and Aspergers Syndrome. I also have a documented sub –
Classification of IED (Intermittent Explosive Disorder) 132.34 – Verbal antagonistic outbursts
which as the term intermittent means at any
possible time wherein undue pressure is given due to real or perceived provocation. (In this case the FPL employees were the protagonists) I may say
something inappropriate, but that is documented as part of my US Social Security Disability, and it is not to be inferred as a danger to an employee (A
side note to Google reviews who try to block my reviews, you can think anything you want about my disability however you open your mouth in the
US against my disability in any way shape or form, pray that the DOJ does not talk some sense into you as I am making a disability discrimination complaint
against you for preventing me from speaking out the facts on your site). My doctors, and I find that the lack of interaction with people wherein people
initiate the interaction with myself as an individual as one of the triggers that causes outbursts.

(Google reviews when they do not allow me to state truthful happenings in my
reviews they also are violating my civil rights and performing disability discrimination towards me. Lets see how their code of ethics and censorship withstands DOJ intervention as I am copying all of how you try to hide inflammatory factual events from your web reviews as what you think you
can stop as a form of censorship.)

Florida Power & Light [FPL] worst company ever

Fpl sent me a bill on the 9/16, so they claim. I receive the bill on the 22nd of september in the amount of $220 before power gets cut off! Mind you I have been current with them. Due date was for the 24th of september and will be cut off on the 26th. 4 days turnaround. I made a payment to a so-called non authorized agency and because fpl didn't see the payment in their system which they say "it's not our fault", power will be cut off. I have a 4 month old and they don't care! Big corporation with no humanity! All of you who work for that company should burn in hell! Scams!

Worst customer service ever. I did not receive a bill 10 months ago and been calling non-stop. Unable to get a live person. So one night I cussed out the automated person and 2 days later I got a call for a meter replacement. Then I get an estimated bill two month later for 4 months. Ms Cervantes at FPL said it was non-negotiable and if I do not pay they will turn power off. She did offer a payment place. I get estimated because of their incompetence. This is what lack of competition and government regulations create when it comes to customer service and understanding how to run a business.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] discriminatory billing practices

FPLAutoConnect policies discriminate against foreign property owners, minorities, and the disabled. The AutoConnect program works by automatically switching power to the property owner's name if a tenant disconnects electricity. This is to keep the power going and relieve the need of the owner to make a call to FPL and pay a deposit and connection fee.
FPL will only allow a property owner to enroll if he is incorporated in Florida and owns at least three rental properties.
This discriminates against foreign owners, minorities, and the disabled who usually have only one or two rental properties and lack the sophistication and resources to incorporate. If the power goes out, all appliances shut off. It is bad enough that we are looked down on. We are trying very hard to succeed economically in the US, and FPL makes it that much harder for us. I demand this policy be revised. I am contacting the state's attorney general, ACLU and other organizations to pressure FPL to make their AutoConnect program fair and accessible to foreign property owners, minorities, and the disabled.

It is only discrimination if they change the rules for non minorities.
For example... If I owned a property and never incorporated and they did the automatic change over for me and not you THEN it would be discrimination. Because they will NOT do it for anyone unless they meet all of the guidelines it is called following the rules.

What you are not understanding is the reason they are willing to take a chance on someone that is Incorporated and owns additional properties. If they do not pay the bill then the power authority can put a lean on ALL of the properties that are in the corporation.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] trespassing and disregards of warnings to remove themselves from our property

We have owned the property at the previous address for 7 years now. FPL has been trapassing on our property since then, their excuse is that they own 25 feet of MY LAND around their electricity cables. The walk in without permission, cut our trees, and have gone as far as threaten my family, even though we have placed complaints in several occasions. My mother was crying today while one contractor from this company walked in our backyard, cut down a 30 year old mango tree, and refused to leave our property even when we called the police. Still, I pay large amounts of money for the mortgage of the land FPL claims they own. I gess that our so called constitutional rights and Property law do not apply when privately owned companies that have govermental contracts are involved

Florida Power & Light [FPL] billing practices

FPL disconnects power and services when they want to with no regulation. I have recently received a disconnect notice. My bill is 13 days late when I received the notice. The cut off date was 2 days before the next billing cycle ended. How can you cut my power when I am not even 30 days late and the balance owed is less than half of my $500.00 deposit. Seems to me that you checked my credit, took a Security Deposit, and commenced to loan me power on a revolving credit type basis. Sounds like a Banking Institution to me. I believe that there were major Banking regulatory changes in 2008. I also believe that since the power company acts as a Monetary Lender, they should be subjected to Federal Banking and Lending Statues. Cut my power off before the 30 day Federally established limits and maybe we will have to start a Class Action Suit and subject this National Power Conglomerate to Banking and Lending Legislation. Just the standard UberRich greed.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] deposit

Fpl is making me pay a deposit of $590!

Let me explain my history with fpl... When I was 18 I moved into my house. I had no credit whatsoever so when I connected service for the first time I expected a high deposit. Just as I thought it was about $350. My bills ranged from $50-$80. I am now 2 years later moving into the same house and fpl is asking for a deposit of $590! That is the craziest amount of money for a deposit I have ever heard of. I am now 21 years old and have some amount of credit, I have never paid a late bill I am just new to having credit cards and other things. So I don't have bad credit I just don't have a lot. I asked fpl where this amount was coming from and they say from the previous tenants (Which this is my house I have been renting for the past 2 years so I know who they were.) the deposit is based off the highest bill times 2, or something along those lines. I tried getting through to fpl because the previous tenants had 8 people living in the house! That's a lot of electricity to be used. Where there is me who is going to be 2 people and have hardly every had a bill over $100 (That's including w/ a new electric company in a different house.) all anybody at fpl would tell me is there is nothing they could do for me. They only offered me an option of setting up automatic payments with a deposit off $400 something. I still thought that was crazy and tried to reason with someone for another week. I have now been told the deposit is based on my credit. Which makes no sense because that's what they told me when I was 18 and it still wasn't that high. I talked to a supervisor yesterday (Who was just as rude as every other phone operator I have spoken to) and she said it's not based off the previous tenants or my credit but actually several things (That she couldn't list). Uh okay. I'm so done with this company.
So moral of the story... I finally put in my request to the electric company to turn on the power tomorrow because I can not put off moving any longer. I am paying the $590 (Due within 10 days) and there's nothing I can do about it. They no longer offered me the automatic payments deal.
The worst part about this company cheating me out of my money is that there is no way around it. They are not willing to talk to you and learn your story to see that that deposit is really unnecessary. - every person I talked to just told me it is what it is and there was nothing they could do about it. Ridiculous.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] bad service

Today I was feeding my daughter (4months) when there was a knock on the door. I immediately headed for the door and looked out the peephole, no one was there. I put my daughter down preceded to look out the front windows. I opened the door and seen a sign for disconnection. Then my power went off. The guy came to the front and told me he knocked and thought no one was home! He said once I pay it he would send someone out to reconnect it. My bill would be 200 dollars and they never disconnected .it but today for 80 they did. I could have paid him right there if he waited waited for me to answer the door. I jus got the final notice today, smh.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] fraud misconduct

I am a widow trying to get justice for my husband... My husband dies in 2009... He was added to one of the worst fatalities in that year... Fpl sent workers to 8360 runford dr boynton beach fl... They had knowledge and took photographs and put in a work order for two trees that were in contact with powerlines... They new it was a dangerous condition but did not warn the homeowner so the homeowner called a tree company which was my husband to come out to trim the trees in his backyard... The tree limb came in contact with the powerline without my husband knowing that by just being close to any of the limbs in this tree espesialyy having a polesaw in hand which was the conductor in this case... He got electrecuted and flew off the ladder fell to his death 3 stories high before he can strapp himself around the tree... Fpl destroyed those pictures that was taken before the incident contaminated the crime scene by trimming the tree before crime scene got there to take there pictures... So on and so forth... They are trying to get away with murder thats the way I feel now... They coached there witnesses on how to answer questions at trial and also made the linesman to sign an affidavit before trial to say it was one tree not the other... The truth needs to come out and fpl should be investigated and I have been conducting my own investigation try ing to see if I can gather as much as I can so someone will take a step on proving the fraud they had placed my husband dies and left 4 kids the kids were ages 4 months, 1 year, 4 year and 5 years when he died... They will never know what it's like to have a father and to me fpl is trying to cover there wrongful mistakes on what assisted in the death of my husband... Someone please help me... This cant be over

Florida Power & Light [FPL] unreasonable company rules

How does a company get away with telling customers they are raising prices but not addressing the way they handle customer issues. To tell a customer to pay 4 times your monthly bill and then when you go past due (mind u your monthly bill is only 1/4 the amount they have that you had to give them to start your service in a interest baring account) and they want to cut your service off. They told me I had to come up with the average two month bill of the apartment. my bill has never been over $100 ever since i moved here and they wanna hold on to $229 of my money and shut my power off for$58.23. They are holding 4 time that money for my deposit. I can go 4 months not pay and not owe $229.00 at the close of the fourth billing cycle. but for $58.23 they are sending out the doges on me? how can we get this to change? who do most likely 3.9 Floridians have to write, Email, Blog, call and complain to so that this can be address. How many signatures do i need to have a petition to have these issues taken to heart?

I dont know whats wrong with a power company who cuts off ur service for owing $58.23 and they are holding $229.00 for the deposit on my Apt.I only owe $58.23 and i call the customer service number ( what a joke there) let them know i have the payment on the way. They say well if it get cut off before we get the payment oh well. I was like can't you delay the cut off a couple days i mean I have a check number and any other information you would need to verify the payment which should be there in a couple days they said being as it not here in our offices to post to the account there is nothing that i can do for you on that. im not you dont qualify for an extension. I'm like ma'am the past due is only $58.23? you have a cash deposit from me of $229.00 which is 4x whats past due. Isn't there any way you can give me a couple days till the payment arrives. She said sorry but we can not grant you an extension. there has got to be something that the tax payers of this country can do to of shall i say just this state of Florida can do about this? im going to file a complaint to the attorney Generals office about this. there has got to be a way of getting a company to change certain policies to have there customers not feel helpless and unable to get treated like your business matters?

Florida Power & Light [FPL] fpl extremely high bill for no legitimate reason

FPL High bills FOR NO Legitimate REASON!

There are several complains I have for this company and that began when I signed up with them. First they tell me that if I do not enroll in “Automatic Billpay” I had to pay a $400.00 deposit out of the nowhere. I agree to their terms. On December 2011, I had recently moved to a 1, 170 Sqfoot apartment. When I signed up for their services they started billing me $ 25 December,
$ 99 on January, $ 98 on February, $ 113 on March, then $156 on April and before I knew it on May I was paying $196. By June I was already paying $ 307. I spoke to a customer service representative and she said that my bills were increasing due to the temperatures in Summer. I was able to understand that but the bill was still coming higher than I expected. I did not buy any new appliances because the apartment I very small and we do not even have a microwave. The representative sent an FPL electricity expert to tell us what was consuming so much light and his excuse was that our air conditioning unit was “obsolete” or not up-to date. Long story short, I spoke to the administration office about the issue and they send an A/C technician to check on the unit, turns out that all the units in the other apartments are the same; they were not obsolete, and there was nothing wrong with the A/C. The only solution I was offered by the FPL “electricity expert” was for them to put me on a “budget.” That is they lowered the amount of the bill per month I pay, and they move or distribute the remaining amount I owe from every month, towards the next coming months. However, that was not a solution and they did not get to the bottom of the problem. They said they had a “smart meter” who automatically does the reading for energy usage and it then sends the signal to them. I encourage them to check the smart meter, She said that those machines where new technology and that she doubt there was anything wrong with it and refused to request a check on the “smart meter.” They said it was my unit and that was the excuse. There was nothing wrong with my A/C unit and I’m still paying the high bills every month and they still didn’t give me an honest answer to the problem because obviously they do not have it. They charge very High and yet, they are still unable to provide a legitimate reason why they raised the monthly bills. My bills went up by 200% . Not a 50% or even a 100%. We are on the month of November of 2012 and my bills are still high and still going up. Nothing has change in my apartment. No new appliances. No one has move in with me, same three people. I called the representative again with the same concerns about the monthly bills and all she could tell me was I am now paying the monthly bill plus what I owe from the previous months because I was put on a budget. All they could offer was to send another energy expert home to do an evaluation again with the only difference that this time after 30 minutes of talking with her on the phone she agree to send a request to the executive offices to remove the so called “smart meter” and have it check. I used to own a 2 story/ 3bedroom home and the bill would fluctuate from $300 to $400. Why do I have to pay $300 for a 1, 170 sqfoot apartment. I requested the address to FPL executive offices to file a complain against this abusive bills with no legitimate reasons. They are responsible for this problems and what can I do is the only giving power to Florida. We need to stop this Monopoly People. Summer temperatures were their excuse and now the temperature are cooler as you have notice in last couple of weeks and I am still paying the high bills. Unbelievable.
This is not the first time I have a problem with FPL, forgot to mention they charged me $500. Several times because the guy who was supposed to read the meter would skip several months and would not show up to do the meter reading at my house. He simply did an estimate on what I was paying and the bill sent to me. How do I know this? my father was not working at that time
and he used to stay home all day everyday and no one would knock on the door to request for us to open the backyard gate and enter the dogs. The FPL staff would show up to do the meter reading whenever

I’ve had the same issue reacuring in my new apartment only I’ve been doing fpl bills for the last 12 years in all types housing and sq. I just moved into a new apartment two bed and I’m paying more then I ever have for any other bill before but I’m using the same energy I have always used it keeps increasing and even double charging me in a single month it’s the only source of power and they know it I’ve tried several times for them to explain the reason for such charges and have yet to be given an answer absolutely ridiculous I pay more in power then I do in rent and I can’t even control if the cost will rise because even if I use less more it’s could still rise. I even was charged a whole month when I had canceled service and the best they said they could do was credit my account for 20 dollars even though the charge was almost $200.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] userous billing practices

I bought a new house in March of 2010 and upon registering service with FPL was told I would be required to pay a $200 dollar deposit. I've never been required to pay a deposit for any service and have a healthy credit score. I was told this deposit would be added to my first months bill. Came home a few weeks after moving in to find my power disconnected for failure yo pay the deposit. After calling FPl and insisting this was due with my first months bill, was forced to pay that say and wait the unreasonable 24 hours for service to be restored( they made that deadline with 15 minutes to spare). I was also charged a fee which I emphatically refused to pay. After speaking for more than an hour with phone rep this charge was agreed to be waived.
Next months bill comes and guess what, charge is there. It took six months of additional wrangling to get it removed.
Fast forward two and a half years later and here I sit writing this complaint via smartphone because my service has again been disconnected. The problem this time ? I am 20 days late and past due in the amount of $98.12.
Sounds like your fault you might say. I would agree except that...I notified FPl I would be out of the country and would need an extension and I set up autopsy for this bill to try to cover this one. Also, member that security deposit, isn't that supposed to cover little incidents like this?
I live in Seminole county. What can be done?

FPL is rude to their customers.
FPL is unreasonable.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] power shut off

FPL i the biggest group of monopolizing scam artists. I have 2 small children. They didnt send me a bill in four months so I called them to ask about it. They said that we enrolled for online bill pay. We checked our email and there was no mail from them and we called a few other times and they readjusted our diposit and they shut our power off and later that day, I finally got a paper bill! uugh it is frustrating and it is monopolizing.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] bad customer service

FPL said I would not be charge the deposit if I signed up for the auto bill pay online. The lady on the phone said the 23rd is the last day I could sign up for it. So the night of the 23rd, Thursday, I signed up for it. A couple days later, I came home and my power was shut off and the sad thing was I just went grocery shopping :( . I called FPL and spoke with a Supervisor twice and she said I could not have my power turned on until the next day. I told her my story and she said that I should have sign up before 9pm but because I signed up at 10pm she couldn't do anything. I told her that the lady never said anything on a time just that the 23rd was the last day I could sign up. I asked for a manager to call me, which didn't happen. My power did get turned on the next day but I feel they should have come and turned it on right away. They are so quick to shut it off if you don't pay, well this was their doing so I feel they should have shown good customer service and turned it back on and before my food went bad! By the way my actual FPL bill was paid on the 21st . So it wasn't my bill it was the deposit issue.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] lose power in every storm

Every time we get a little rain the power goes out...The lines are not maintained at all in Florida..Trees are not cut away from power lines..FPL just waits until a tree branch falls and kills the line before they do anything...They have so much money and do nothing about this problem...They also don't want to put the lines underground because it would cost to much...So they have old poles and old lines and trees over the lines and do nothing to fix this...So all you get is mega power bumps and black outs...And when you call them they say get battery back ups...O thanks that's why we pay you to recieve power so that we can go out and spend 300 dollars on battery back ups...FPL sucks
