FlipKey Scammers!

They are liars!
They cancelled my booking because it seemed to them that I didn't pay in full, even though I did. I asked for a refund then and went to another website to book. They sent me an email stating that they won't refund all the money because there was a fee for cancellation. Great, only I didn't ask you to do it. It's a great way to steal the money without doing anything, just cancel the booking and money is yours, because your stupid policies say so.
It's a scam, I assure you. Stay away from these unreliable people.

FlipKey Deposit stolen

We used Flipkey via TripAdvisor.
We rented a villa and the owner claimed that there was a missing towel. We were unaware of this allegation and were on a long haul flight. When we returned home Flipkey had given our $100 deposit to the owner to pay for the towel.
Their policy stated that there was a 10 day period to resolve the complaint but they resolved it within 48 hours and without our input.
The towel in question was made of cotton. Not gold.
The owner stated he would return the money but never did.
Flipkey were poor for not using common sense. They did not question the value of the towel and merely handed over our full deposit without question.
They did not deal with my subsequent complaints.
I merely want them to learn from this poor customer service. This happened to me sometime ago but I will never book with them again.

FlipKey Scammed

I signed up for FlipKey as an owner. At the beginning I had quite a great time there, rented my place and earned money, everything was fine.
About a month ago I was contacted by a guest who wanted to rent my property. He said he was travelling with his family and they needed a place to stay. We discussed all the details, I received the money and they moved in. When I met the guy he was alone and said that his family will come later, so I actually never saw them.
They stayed for two nights and left. When I came to check if everything was ok with my flat I was shocked! I don't know what they did but they broke the sofa, some other things were also damaged, on the carpet there were red stains and smelled like alcohol. I tried to contact the guest but he ignored me. They I reported him to FlipKey and said that I need to contact the guest, they said that there was nothing they could do! Recently removed my profile from this site.

FlipKey Tons of Issues With Cabin Rental

I tried to book through FlipKey for a cabin listed under Celia B several times. The first time I booked, the rate was advertised as $521 for a weekend. Once I submitted my payment, Celia B messaged me stating that the rate was incorrect, and added on another $200 for my stay. I explained to her that that was the rate advertised and she should honor the amount agreed to, however she chose to deny my booking and stated that the site wasn't up to date and therefore I needed to rebook and pay an additional $200 for the trip. Even though I felt it highly unreasonable, I had already committed to this trip and was going to take my boyfriend for a Christmas surprise. I tried to pay the full amount again, and had my trip booking denied again for no apparent reason. I messaged Celia B several times and she would not respond, so I contacted FlipKey who told me the owners have to accept the payment and they have nothing to do with the response. The whole setup with that site was bad from the start. People don't get back to you, and the owners are pretty unprofessional and rude. Here is her final message to me

Totally unacceptable considering I was still willing to pay her escalated rate. What a horrible experience! I would never try booking through this woman again, and the site is also pretty sketchy too!

Travelers must realize that unless you are booking directly with the supplier (hotel, cabin, condo, etc) as in calling their direct number or booking directly on their live site, than you might not be dealing with real time inventory. If you choose to go through a third party, you must realize that the rates and inventory are not always real time. There is no such thing as one set price in the travel industry which is why rates are usually listed like "from $79/night" or similar wording. Rates in the travel industry change constantly, sometimes daily, based on demand and inventory. While this situation is sometimes frustrating, if you choose to book through a third party, it isn't right to blame that third party as they have nothing to do with rates or inventory. I can't tell by this complaint that Flipkey did anything wrong and it is equally likely that the traveler didn't bother to read the "fine print".

FlipKey Charged me without permission

I decided to cancel my subscription with FlipKey so I emailed their customer support regarding this demand. I was told that everything is done but despite that I was kept getting charged on a monthly basis... Eventually they've canceled everything but refused to refund me those unauthorized charges.
